Inchcock Today – Fri 21st Sept 2018: Laundry was done, shopping, graphicalisationing and bleeding tended to! Ah-well!

What’s all this then?

Friday 21st September 2018

Polish: Piątek, 21 września 2018 r

0125hrs: I shot awake, pondered for a short time on what bit’s I could remember of a dream I think I was in the middle of (In a cave full of old typewriters?) and decided to get the laundry started first thing. Which I did.

Out of the second-hand rickety rusting £200 recliner (like a young man almost, certainly surprised me!), and to the spare room to collect the bag. Assembling the washing accoutrements, I noticed a problem with the unwanted, light and view-stopping new window frame.

5Fri001W77.54.2 The ledge must have had dozens of the Evil ironclad Boll-Weevil black biting beetles the full length of the window on it. Around 33% of them were alive, all small ones this time. I collected the bodies and sprayed both the ‘Raid’ and ‘Rentokil’ killer sprays copiously all over.

Danged little varmints were on the counter-attack gain!

Had a short-sharp-painful wee-wee, and got myself down to the laundry room. As I stepped into and out of the lift doors, there was a vicious updraught from the strong gale-like winds blasting up the lift shaft! I don’t think some of the girl tenants will appreciate this if it doesn’t die down. Hehe!

Got the washer on the go, and up to the flat. Where I did an assault in the wet room and kitchen on the Evil ironclad Boll-Weevil black biting beetles. There was a lot of them, mostly dead though.

W77.54.2 I set Arthur Itis and Hippy Hilda off with all the bending to get at them. Humph!

5Fri006Time to get down once again to move the washing from washer to the dryer.

I noticed on the laundry room floor, bits of what looked like pieces of old toasted bread? Bemused me, cause they were not there earlier.

On closer inspection, they turned out to be bits of the foam filler they used on the windows and balcony outside. How and where they came from, I’ve not the foggiest. This place might be haunted, or have Aliens moved in, perhaps? Haha!

Moved the togs and got the dryer going. Back to the twelfth floor. Set the timer to remind me about the clothing, and got the Health Checks done and took the medications.

5Fri004

5Fri003The hemadynamometer worked the first time, and the readings all seemed better as well.

Made a brew, and went on another search & destroy mission for the Evil ironclad Boll-Weevil black biting beetles.

The need for the Porcelain Throne arose, to which I responded. MAnaged to get a few pages of the Catastrophy book read. Getting closer to the declaration of war now.

W77.54.2 Back to the battle with the weevils. I’d not checked behind the balcony curtains earlier. So, Rentokil Spray at the ready in hand, I whipped open the curtain… which came off of the runner leaving me draped with the things covering me and feeling foolish! Of course, the immediate need was for me to get the cloth off of my head so I could see to attack the varmints. By the time I got free of the curtains, I could only see about three weevils on the pelmet, all dead. But the beetles in the front room are usually larger than average and are nifty and quick in flight. So maybe there were more of them, I’ll never know. I gave an expensive blast from the aerosol anyway.

5Fri001bThe timer alarm rang out, and I plodded down the draughty elevator to move the washing from one machine to the dryer.

Got the dryer going, and went to clean the drum of the washing machine. I came across no less than eight hair-pins stuck behind the plastic porthole cover when I went to wipe it out. Certainly not mine. Hehe!

5Fri002I popped outside and took this photograph.

The wind seemed to have died down, the rain had been falling, cause I could see the puddles.

I’m quick yer know. Hahaha!

Back up in the lift. I don’t know about my thinking the wind had lessened outside, but it was still belting up the cage chute with a venom.

I got yesterdays blog finished and posted. Made a start on this one, but could not remember how to spell a word, I thought I had in my personal Excel Dictionary. I had not replaced it in this new one, and looked it up and got carried away when I found other words also lost in the ether to add to the new listings.

5Fri09Soon it was time to go down and collect the dried laundry.

I got the gear out and folded up, and cleaned the filter out, and wiped the drum.

During which, I found another two or three hair-pins!

5Fri10Up in the still draughty when you got in or out lift. Brrr! The poor ladies.

Took a shot of the Nottingham City Homes electronic information sign.

Blimey, I thought of seeing the time, 0332hrs. I’d done well this morning.

Got home, and Hippy Hilda had eased off along with Arthur Itis. Odd this?

Got the clothes to put away, and back on the computer. Spent around two more hours sorting and adding to the dictionary.

Got on with starting this post off.

Ablutions were done – readied and off out I went.

Called at the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights, Oberschützeress Wardens Temporary HQ, Willmott-Dixon workers breakfast and tea-break room, Sarcasm & Insult distribution area, Tenants Socialisation Shed, Telling Inchcock off Zone, Things like crockery and pottery to be stolen from, and somewhere to rest while waiting for the bus, shed. Asked pole-dancer and Warden Deana if she could help me with a Nottingham City Council Problem, and she obliged.

Enjoyable chinwagging sessions ensued as some residents arrived at the shed.

5Fri11I intended to go to town and get some hearing aid batteries.

W77.54.2 When the buses arrived. I was nattering as usual and got on the wrong bus. What a Nebech!

I stayed on went to Arnold.

5Fri12The sky, well, clouds were gorgeous.

I was cheered a bit as I arrived in Arnold.

I dropped off the bus early, to go to the two cheap stores to try and get some of the foot and shoe sprays.

I went to the Boyes for Good Value shop first.

5Fri013I had a wander around, which later proved to be a mistake, cause I missed the L9 bus back to the flats then. Klutz!

I did get two cans of the required foot sprays, though.

At a fair price as well. £1 each!

I came out of Boyes and went to the next shop, a branch of Savers.

But they did not have of the Dettol lavender, Co-codamol tablets or lemon spray I needed.

So, I departed purchaseless and called into the Boots branch.

They sold a box of Paracetamol & Codeine tablets.

Then I went to the Iceland shop and spent a bit there. Washing-up liquid, some meat, pork & pickle mini-pies, and potato slices.

It was then, I realised I was going to miss the L9 bus!

I worked thing out, and thought if I caught a City Bound bus, that takes a less convoluted route than the L9 I’d just missed, this bus would beat the Lp into Sherwood, and I can get off and catch the flat bound bus! Best laid plans, huh!

5Fri014W77.54.2 The 58 bus I was on got caught in heavy traffic, and I miss the L9 again in Sherwood! Humph!

So I went to the Continental Food shop, in the hope of them having some of the lemon cream soft pastry squares back in stock.

W77.54.2 They hadn’t! Oy vay!

5Fri015This meant slog up Winchester Street Hill back to the flats!

But the sky turned beautiful again.

What had happened to the Amber Warning about the weather forecast of heavy rain and wind?

There was a breeze, but no rain at all?

5Fri016In fact, as I crossed over the road, the sun came out stronger, and it turned really bright.

The hobble up the hill, required a couple of rest breaks, as Hippy Hilda began to give me some bother.

5Fri017But I managed to get up to Chestnut Walk.

Where I was met with a few challenges in not getting knocked over by the heavy traffic around the flats!

Lorries and wagons, plant machinery, cars, etc. all posing a health risk. Hehe!

5Fri20

Still, I got through okay in the end.

Up to and in the flat, amazingly without any need of a wee-wee? Today was proving an odd one for me! Haha!

I got the oven warming, min-potatoes in the saucepan, and got on with updating this diary.

5Fri21Sister Jane rang for a friendly chat. Only told me off twice as well!

Did the Health Checks and took the medications, a little early, but still.

I took one of the tablets from Boots with them and put the Codeine back in the box. I hope this will be alright and I still get the pain relief, but without the falling to sleep. Fingers crossed! I started to read the two-sided notes from the box, but it was so long and small to decipher, I nearly fell asleep anyway! Hahaha!

5Fri34Nosh sorted. A 6.5/10 Flavour-Rating.

I think I may have fallen asleep for a while, I seemed to wake up in the £300 second-hand rickety past-its-best Recliner.

Got the pots into the washing up bowl, as the rain started to pelt down.

5Fri35I opened the curtains to see the gloomy looking weather outside.

The rainwater had got into the balcony pod again and onto the bare slatted wooden flooring.

I hope it doesn’t warp the planks.

The old brain went off on one of its ‘Straying-from-Reality’ modes.

Health Checks and medications tended to.

W77.54.2 Off for a wee-wee. Poor Little Inchies Fungal Lesion had been bleeding something awful. Thank heavens for the PPs, at least. Painful and worrying. Oh dearie me, not good!

Cleaned up and medicated as best I could.

Settled in the chair with a bottle of fresh orange juice, and foolishly tried to watch the TV again.

Nodded straight off… Ah, well!

  1. A lucky seven whoopsiesdangleplop day. Nice lot of photographicalizations from your being out and about. They are still looking for blockheads to be street snitches? Our Cuban friends told us they had street snitches on every block in Havana as part of the Committee for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) to keep an eye on people and tattle on behavior not fitting of proper revolutionaries. That’s a rather lousy looking meal. I don’t like drumsticks. The only thing worse than drumsticks are chicken wings.

    • Defense of the Revolution Reporters eh? Amazing.
The most about Cuba I’ve seen, was in the Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Series 4. The local folks seemed very laid back. (Worth watching if ever you get the time, Tim)
That meal I agree with your statement. I thought I was buying ready-cooked Chicken Thighs. Tsk! It was enough to put me off eating. Yesterday I only had three tomatoes, two very-mini pickle pork pies and two potatoes. Didn’t even bother to record it.
The promised storm has not arrived here yet (Sunday 0105hrs)… but give it time.
      Cheers, Sir.
