0000hrs: A wee-wee was needed the instant I stirred into semi-life, and awaited the brain joining in with me.

WD 4.137.194 My usual manoeuvering from the £300 second-hand archaic recliner had to be rechoreographed this morning. Due to the mechanicals and electricals, stopping mid-way through the lifting operation, with a disturbingly egregious scrunching sound, and the excessive amount of fluid in both legs. Tsk!

Comical would be the best word to describe my efforts at getting out and up on my feet. It was trial and error to a great degree. Finding out which would be the optimum manipulations to take to avoid the legs being bent the least took a while and few painful and abandoned routes tried. In need of a wee-wee forced me to rush the job, and caused a fair bit of hassle in the pain stakes. But, out and up, I did manage to get. It took me a while, and I got to the wet room in time for the five-second short-sharp wee-wee. Makes yer sick, dunnit!

2Tue04I collected about ten weevil corpses from the wet room floor and one from the sink. No lives one seen.

Into the spare room, around twenty little weevils dead on the unwanted light and view limiting new window ledge. All tiny ones.

I took this photograph of the morning scene.

I checked the kitchen. Only about twelve dead baby weevils, and just one bigger live one on the on the unwanted light and view limiting new window ledge. He or she was too quick for me to catch.

Aug18iWD 4.137.194 Then, back into the front room to investigate the £300 second-hand recliner failure. Unbelievable as it sounds, I tried the buttons first, and it worked! I was flabbergasted!

I was sure I was pressing the right buttons earlier. Why the grinding noise? I repeatedly tried again, and it still worked everytime I tried? I searched for anything that might have got stuck inside or underneath, but found nothing, Ghosts? Aliens? Had I gone bonkers?

WD 4.137.194 Then getting back up after delving into the works, on my knees, both patellas, the fluid-filled legs, Hippy Hilda, Arthur Itis, and the elbow when I knocked against the arm of the chair, all combined to give me some more bother. I decided to take some extra painkillers when I take the medications.

A call to the Porcelain Throne arrived then. A loose, messy affair. I opted to take some Dia-Stop tablets as well.

At this point, the EQ told me this was going to be a day of anguish! Hehehe! I took the medications and then did the Health Checks.

2Tue03

WD 4.137.194 Gawd heavens! This did not cheer me up at all. The Sys still up! The weight was even higher than ever!

WD 4.137.194 Got the computer on, to find… I’m just having any good luck yet, am I?

2Tue06

I went on TFZer Facebooking. It took me hours to get the photographs on.

WD 4.137.194 It wasn’t so slow on WordPress, though. I managed to get yesterdays blog updated and sent off, but it took me another two hours! Gone 0700hrs by the time I’d finished it! Grumph! What next I thought to myself. It didn’t take long for me to find out.

2Tue02fWD 4.137.194 I made a much-needed brew of tea and didn’t check on the sell-by date or condition of the pasteurised milk contents.

Then, when I was searching for some individual pots of milk I thought I had, I spotted that a jar of tomato and bacon cooking sauce had also ‘Gone-Off’. Tsk!

I’ll have to go out today and get some more milk. Far too late to get the ablutions done and still catch the first bus now. I might as well get some other fodder in at the same time, make it a shopping trip. Oh, I’ve got to call at the bank sometime too.

2Tue05I got the potatoes in the crockpot cooking on a low setting.

Went to get the ablutions sorted. Once again, a messy affair. I did get a few cuts under the chin when shaving, but they hardly bled at all. This was symptomatic to me that the INR level may be too high. So, tonight I will take a half-a-warfarin tablet less with my medications. I’m sure I’ll remember, Ahem!

I took the black bags to the chute, and went down with a bag of recyclable and dropped them at the caretaker’s door. I actually saw the caretaker this morning, on his phone of course, but he did respond to my “Good morning, you okay?”

2Tue07The day looked surreal. Bright sunlight, shadows, not cold at all either.

Plenty of vehicular traffic, getting in a tangle with themselves and the drivers seemingly discussing who had the right of way. We pedestrians didn’t seem to get in their way as had to use the road as a footpath. But it is wise to try and keep your attention on the vehicles at all times. Tsk!

I got to the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights, Unterscharführeress Wardens Temporary HQ, Willmott-Dixon workers breakfast room, Sarcasm & Insult distribution area, Tenants Socialisation Shed, Telling Inchcock off Zone, Things like crockery and pottery to be stolen from, and somewhere to rest while waiting for the bus, shed. I was the only person there, apart from in the office, Brigadeführeress Warden Julie and a lady from Winchester Court talking. I just said a Good Morning and handed out the nibbles.

I took a seat in the big room and got my crossword book out. Margaret and hubby arrived, Big John, Penny, Doreen and several others over the next few minutes. Margaret helped me out with one of the crosswords I’ve been trying to finish for ages. We had a laugh or two, then out to the bus stop. Where a regiment of Winwood residents had ganged up waiting for the buses.

The Bestwood bound vehicle filled up with folks, and then emptied down the hill in Sherwood, leaving me all alone. Hehe!

2Tue07bI took this shot, with the old camera (Not sure why I’ve started using this old Sony again?) while the bus was manoeuvering across the ring-road traffic island.

The James Hunt style bus driver soon had me in Arnold. Dropping me off bruised from the dodgem-ride.

I poddled to the Wilko store, where I got three more of the Special Offer Priced Raid Bug Killer sprays, and a large cheap saucepan and lid. I can boil the bags of lamb shanks again now I’ve got a saucepan big enough! I burnt the last one. Humph!)

2Tue08aI paid the lady with vacant staring eyes, and out up Front Street and had a look in the Chambers butchers to see if they had any of their home-baked belly pork slices. Which they did, and I bought five slices. I have a weakness for this shops roasted sliced belly pork.

Coughed up the payment and out along the same road to the Iceland Store, avoiding several mobility-scooters and pavement cyclists 2Tue09and called at Iceland. Where I purchased lamb shanks and pork ribs, both with a good shelf life of a couple of weeks on them.

Got a bit of change from a tenner, too.

Then further along Front Street and into the Asda (Walmart) Supermarket. Got some goodies for the nibble-box refilling. Apples, Bic razors, seasoned potato slices, two mini lemon 2Tue10desserts, and cheese twists. PAid the lady the £15.11 and made my way through the car park to the bus stop on High Street.

I couldn’t resist taking a shot of these new signs put up by the Police.

I did not see a single Police Officer on my journeys all day. Still, I bet these signs will scare the pickpockets, the muggers and shoplifters! Humph! Incidentally, the signs had been vandalised and were flapping about in the wind.

Arriving at the bus shelter, I realised that I had a good while to wait. The three photographs I tried to take of the passengers in the queue, were refused to be recorded by the camera? Black screen with the small unreadable message in off-white on screen? I thought, well that’s the end of the Sony Cybershot, then. Sob!

2Tue11The cheerless, irritable bus-jerking driver soon had us back at the flats. (Although most of us were nervous jibbering wrecks by then)

I thought of Jeremy Clarkson and his ‘Guest in a reasonably priced car’, for some reason as this vehicle belted along Chestnut Way?

Just as well, as Willmott Dixon’s ‘Eric Incharge’ appeared seconds later, guiding a large plant vehicle out of a gate from the Extra Care Build compound.

By the time I had got inside the flat, I had realised that anything requiring concentration or effort was out of the questions for me now. I felt abruptly drained again, mentally and physically.

I had a shot-sharp wee-wee. Did the Health Checks and medication taking. Put the fodder and acquisitions away and got the oven on with the spare ribs cooking.

2Tue12dEyes too big for the stomach again. Tsk!

The ribs I’d seasoned with Hoisin sauce, and were terribly messy to eat, but delicious!

WD 4.137.194 I’d undercooked the green beans, the tomatoes were bland, overcooked the potatoes, the apple was bitter. The jar of lemon mousse had gone off!

On the brighter side, the fresh orange juice was pleasantly not too sweet and had a tang to it. The Lemon dessert I bought today at Asda, was so flavoursome! The aforementioned better bits of the meal meant I still gave a Taste-Rating 0f 8.5/10.

Put the things into the washing up bowl to soak and took a look to see if there was anything worth watching on the goggle-box. I fell asleep looking at the schedule for Freeview.

Woke and got the last Health Checks done, took the medications.

WD 4.137.194 While doing this, I put the kettle on for a cuppa, and realised I had not got the one thing I went out for, milk!

Back in the recliner to watch some TV. I reckon I nodded off within minutes again. Zzzz!

  1. Sound like you might have ground up a ghost with your recliner. There might be some revenge for ghost grinding, so beware and be aware. Police watching thieves pickpocket people sounds about right. Nice they advertise it. The construction seems to be happening along. Your over/under cooked dinner looks decent enough all nicely arranged on your plate.

    • That flipping recliner, Tim, I can’t understand what’s going on with it. No problems since? I suppose it could have been my error somehow, though. Tsk!
They are getting on with the new build flats in the middle now.
We found out that the twelve kids that broke into it and took some metal and fittings and caused some vandalism, were from the illegal travellers’ caravans parking in Woodthorpe Grange.
I’ll have a look to see if they are still there later on.
I enjoyed those ribs for a change, Tim. Different brand.
      TTFN Sir.
