Inchcock Today – Fri 31 May 2019: To the City Centre. Bought a new camera, but the setting-up confused me. So, nothing new there then. Hehe!

03:15hrs. I woke with parts of a dream I’d been having, clearly lodged in my head. I scrawled down on the notepad what I remembered. No mind-stewing this morning, straight out of the uncomfortable, c1968, second-hand, £300, grotty-spotty-beige coloured recliner, in record time, and tottered carefully to avoid any hemming and hawing by stubbing any toes, to the EGPWWB (Emergency Grey Plastic Wee-wee Bucket). Again, it was in the style of an LHBLWWs (Long Hosepipe-Blasting like Wee-wee). Now back to its natural colouring and pong, I’m glad to say. I assume that the increase in velocity was due to the Furesomide doing its job.

Got the health checks done, Dia 85, Sys 76, Pulse 89 and temperature 35.7°c, medications taken, made a brew and got on the computer on. And guess what again…

1Mon02I consulted the scribbled notes about the dream. Oh, dear, much of it not readable. Tsk! However, for once, some memories did stay with me. I kept going to the hospital to have bits removed. It started with the odd finger and toe. Then an arm went. Then an eye. Then a testicle. Later both legs were amputated at the same time. I kept asking why, but I could not get an answer, other than you’ll have to ask your doctor. But this became impossible when they decapitated me. Then sent me home without the head. The last thing I recall was being in a wheelchair and trying to find a bus stop, wondering why they had not given me a new bonce. Hehehe!

I got the blog updated for yesterday and sent it off to WordPress. Being up late on the computer this morning (two-hours sleep max, Humph!), there was not a lot needed doing, and the hands and fingers were not shaking. As a departure from the usual, speedy progress was made. And, only one wee-wee was taken while doing the post. But, it was an LHBLWW.

As I was putting on the kettle

5Fri002

WD0.51.102 Golly, the pins looked a bit. Er, what are the words? Manky? Papsules blotches and new spider veins were predominant. But the fluid retention is not so bad, I think. Hey-ho!

Got the things (clothes) readied for after the ablutions, in a while.

I’ll use the three-wheeler trolley guide today. Going on the bus to town. I have to get a new camera, the Lumix has just about had it. It’s pot luck with it now I’ve had the shakes and dropped it a few times. Humph!

The wash and brush-up went well, despite several interruptions for a wee-wee.

WD0.51.102 5Fri003aI took off the dressing from yesterday’s blood taking, and immediately started scratching at the itching. Haha!

I got dressed and ou with the trolley, then realised I had not got my hat on, so nipped back for it. I returned to the lift lobby to find that two people were showing great interest in the contents of the three-wheeler-guide, I’d left in the lift lobby. No idea who they were. Mmm? I took the contents of the trolley, black rubbish bags to the 5Fri004waste chute as the man and woman disappeared down in the lift, and I followed them down and outside, to take my empty sauce bottles to the recycling bin. Well, someone has to put some non-alcoholic glass in the bin. It looked like I was the only one who had. Hehehe!

But I’m not jealous of those who can still afford to be alcoholics and drink heavily and are fit enough… Oh, no! No!

5Fri005An absolutely fine morning out there. I took a photo of Winwood and Winchester Courts on the way to the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights, Hauptbereitschaftsleiteress and catwalk Warden’s Temporary HQ. Sarcasm & Insult distribution area. Tenants Socialisationistical Meeting Shed. Telling Inchcock off Zone. Where things like crockery and pottery get stolen from, Rumourmongering Clinic, and somewhere to rest while waiting for the bus, Portakabin.

5Fri006Where I enjoyed a chinwag with Obersturmführeress Warden Deana, and Sturmbannführeress Warden Julie, Angela, Doreen, Mary, Christine, Roy and Malcolm for a bit while we waited for the bus. I handed out all of the nibbles I had with me, bar two. I was content like I haven’t been for months.

More nattering on the bus to town was enjoyed. I got off on Upper Parliament Street and limped 5Fri007bmy way to Jessops camera store on Clumber Street.

The staff didn’t seem too interested in me, as I perused their ever pricier than ever selection of photographic equipment. Eventually, I asked a young lady for help, and she fetched a young man to tend to me. A waste of time, but I explained my physical difficulties and problems to him, and got back an instant, “Well if you want a higher shake 5Fri013camera or anything above 30x optical, you will get no better, in fact probably find it a more bothersome time trying to use it.

Then he spent a while explaining his reasoning. But, it left me behind. After my annoying him further by asking about various cameras, he sold me a 40x Canon Powershot SX740 HS camera.

Confused, and £349 lighter, I left the shop and out onto Clumber Street. I took a photo with the old Lumix both up and down the street. Well, I did all of the pictures on this page, bar the first one when I got home, from the unwanted and disliked kitchen window. I think they catch the spirit of the Nottinghamians. Many of them believed the weather forecast for strong sunshine and hot temperatures for this morning and wearing very little. Hehehe! Many of the Lumix efforts were either unusable due to the poor lighting in the photos, or they didn’t go on the SD card at all? The Lumix has got to 5Fri08go! At least the new camera is the same size as the Lumix, and a great deal weightier, so that might be a good thing… or not?

I meandered to Long Row, and strolled along limpingly to the Slab Square, the corner of Queen-King Street.

The Slab Square had some entertainments on it, but I did not have a lot of time to spare before the L9 5Fri08ahome was due at the top of Queen Street.

So I took a few shots ad nauseum, no that’s not right! Ad-hoc? Unconcentratiously?  Without deliberating? Tsk!

My lethologica can be absolutely lethiferous to my self-confidence! Quickly, anyway. Ahem!

5Fri09A last zoomed-in shot across the Council House towards Exchange Walk that didn’t come out half-bad, as it happens. It shows one of the famous Nottingham City Council House stone lions. Between 1927 and 1929, local man, Joseph Else was put in charge of all carvings on the new design for Nottingham Council House, including the lions, the frieze on the arch of the building and twenty-one other figures all displaying arts and public services. I just thought he ought to be remembered.

Then up to the bus stop. Where Shirley (I think that’s her name, it might be Elsie), from the flats, was waiting, and we had a natter while waiting for the late arriving bus, which soon caught up with the schedule, though.

5Fri11I got in the apartment, and the wee-wees started. Amazingly none bothered me while I was out in town? Amazing!

I  took a photo with the new camera while there was some battery-life in it. I can’t say I was over impressed with the resulting.

I tried to set the date on it, don’t know if I got it right, yet, as the battery had to come out to go in the 5Fri10charger to be boosted?

I am not happy with the mechanics of this new machine. The buttons and switches were a lot fiddlier than the old Lumix are. It weighs an awful lot more, too. Although that might not be a bad thing? The SD card goes in differently. The other way around to all the cameras I’ve had before.

It took me half an hour to thread the hand cord through. And the battery has to come out for charging? Ah well, I might get used to it eventually.

5Fri22Got the oven on to do some chips for the nosh.

The eyes too big again. I must stop making such massive meals! Feel-a-Fool Mode Engaged!

Tired out as I felt, sleep again denied me any rest. It took me hours to get to sleep. I tried the usual reading a book. Thinking of good things from my past (That was difficult, Haha!). Pulling the bob-cap over my eyes. Even put the TV on. But all in vain!

  1. Got chopped up in your dream? Not fun. Not fun at all. That’s good you got some nattering in and felt content after the disturbing dream.

I downloaded the manual for your new camera. You are right, the set up is a bit of a pain. Manufacturers really need to make a super simple digital camera with very basic functions, good stabilization and excellent optics for people like you and me who don’t need all the confusing, rather useless, flim flam, snake oil features they pack into digital cameras. I use a fraction of the features they put into the professional bodies I have, and the professional bodies have a fraction of the features they pack into the point and shoot cameras like your new Canon.

Anyway, once you get the time and date set. You probably don’t need to worry too much about how correct the time a date are as long you get something set so the camera doesn’t complain about it. The other two settings I would suggest you look at is the Quality (size of the image files) and the Review Time.

I think the default quality is for smaller file sizes, but the manual isn’t clear about that. Since you use your images on line (I assume you don’t print them), the lower quality (smaller file size) should be good. A good well exposed, well focused, stable image will look sharp on-line.

The default Review Time is 2 seconds. If you don’t need it, turn off Review Time. It will make the battery last a lot longer between charges. Other than that. Just set the selector to Auto and start shooting.

Nice set of street photos. People drink Budweiser in Nottingham? That surprises me for some reason. Decent looking, well arranged dinner.

    • Got chopped up in my dream, seemed alrigt at the time. They would not tell me why? That bothered me in the dream. Hehe!
Thanks for the Canon tops. I really struggle with it.
I wish the manufacturers would make a super simple digital camera with very basic functions, good stabilization and excellent optics for people like us.
I can’t believe I didn’t notice there is no view finder, and how minuiscule the control buttons are, either. Tsk!
      .
I think I’ve got the time & dare set now, Tim. It controls where the computer puts any imported photos. I put the first one in, and have not seen it since, Tsk! Now the date is in, they go into the photograph file, Phew!
Quality (size of the image files) and the Review Time, are my next mission to tackle, thanks.
I don’t print them, since the printer broke down. Humph!
I’ll just set the selector to Auto and away I’ll go.
Glad you liked the street photos.
People in this block of flats will drink anything they can get ther hands on – Alcoholics! (Only joking!)
      TTFNski, Tim.
