03:45hrs: I woke up feeling a touch groggy and in need of a wee-wee. The GPWWB (Grey-Plastic-Wee-Wee-Bucket) was not in sight? I extracted my grossly overweight body from the recliner and went to the kitchen to use the bucket. The first leak in well over seven hours!

WD 0.30.0B It was of the CMOUSTSTBO (catching-me-out-unwilling-slow-to-start-then-blasting-out) mode! I cleaned up the back-splashed spray from the floor, sink, cupboard door, and then from myself.

I got the kettle on and sorted the handwashing. Took the medications and made the brew of Glengettie Gold tea, and, by gum, it was good!

It dawned on me that RAT (Rheumatoid Arthur Itis) was nowhere near as bad as he has been in the knees. Although, he remained hassling me in the left arm. No complaints, mind. I can cope with this.

I got the computer booted-up. I’d received a comment from Tim Price, Albuquerque, and he suggested I write ‘Tomato Slicer’ on the computer, and take a photograph of it. Then I can check on the camera SD card, for the reminder, when I go shopping! Brilliant idea! I thanked him in my reply, and did just that! So, if I do get out today, I may well come back with a tomato slicer, instead of forgetting it every time! Thus, I might get fewer finger-cuts from the electric-like jerking and jumping fingers. I withheld my going into a Smug-Mode until I actually do remember to get a slicer. Hehehe!

I had to stop to have another wee-wee (Oh, dear!). Another CMOUSTSTBO style job. This time I avoided any mess, as I was wary and aware of the last one!

Back to the computerisationing, and although the hands, fingers, and shoulder were giving me the occasional bit of bother, they have been far worse, so it wasn’t too long before I had completed the Wednesday… no, Thursday blog, and got it posted off to WordPress. I went on the Reader Section and spent far too long on it if I am to get things sorted in time to catch the 09:30hr bus. But, at least I got up to date with it.

I made a start on this post up to here and got ready to do the ablutions…

WD 0.30.0B When I noticed I had on, one brown and one blue slipper! I found the other blue one easily enough, but finding the second brown slipper was not possible. A mystery again! Ah, the Mysteries of my beloved Woodthorpe Court, that lies somewhere between the twilight zone and a wormhole slipping through a tear in the fabric of space & the spacetime continuum. With illusion, delusion, & hallucination, rife!

Turned off the computer, got the things for the ablution session, and off to the wet room. The shower, shave, and the teggy-cleaning session went rather well. Only three dropsies. A wee-wee, that was of the SNS (Short-No-Sensation) variety. The sock-glide-struggle result was 1-1. Only one nick when shaving. So, no complaints there either.

WD 0.30.0B 5Fri02However, the slipper mystery developed somewhat. After another ferret-around for the missing one, I now have three odd slippers? Ah, the Mysteries of my beloved Woodthorpe Court, continue!

I took the black bags to the waste chute, on the server trolley, because there were so many of them (8). Got the things ready for going on the Tomato-Slicer Search, and took a recycling bag out with me, and dropped it at the caretaker’s door.

5Fri03WD 0.30.0B I went back in and hobbled through the linking-passageway to the Winwood Court. I tried the door out to the alfresco benches, but the exit-button was still not working or mended. Mind you, with the wind biting a bit today, I can’t see anyone wanting to sit outside. So, maybe the locking mechanism might get mechanically mended soon, as soon as winter and the snow arrives, perhaps. I thought I might mention to Deana and Julie, and ask them if the fire alarm will still work, as the lock does not and has not for weeks now.

(Amazingly, I forgot all about it, Haha!) I got to the Obersturmfhreress and Catwalk Models Warden’s Holding cells and handed out some nibbles. A very short chinwag, and off out to the bus stop on Chestnut Walk. A good few tenants were there already, and many others joined us. Shirley, Mary, Roy, Herbert, Leonard, Malcolm, Chrissie, and more. I had, as usual, to sit on the side-saddle seats, with the three-wheelers between Mary and I. And had a natter en route to town. The knees seized up on the way, and getting off of the vehicle took more effort and pain than I would have liked. RAT (Rheumatoid Arthur Itis) was to blame. Tsk!

We parted a short way from getting off the bus, May went to get her books, and I ventured into the Wilko store, fossicking for a tomato-slicer. After going around and around, buying stuff on the way, I asked an assistant if they sold them. But no, was the answer. They did sell egg slicers, but as the girl said, they would not be strong enough to use on tomatoes. I came out with the trolley bag nearly full: I had two fabric conditioner bottles, liquid soap flakes, jelly-babies, and the egg-slicer Although I knew was going to be no good.

5Fri005As Sister Jane commanded, I mean suggested, I made my way to and through the slab square to try the Lakeland store for a slicer.

After some delving around, I asked an assistant, who said, No. They do not have them. So I mused about a little longer, and noticed the exact same saucepan that I bought from Morrison’s for £18.99 was on sale at £23.99!

I departed and went into the Poundland Store just down the road. Where my will-power failed, and I bought even more stuff! Two ready-made BLT sarnies, a Pork Farms pork pie (Don’t tell Janet, though!), Biscuits and pork scratchings, peanuts and savoury snacks for the nibble bag. The trolley and bag were both now filled to the limit.

5Fri004I walked back through the unkempt city centre, where the workers were dismantling the amusements, ready for the next money-making scheme, a foods of the world theme thing I think.

It was so nippy in the wind today. But, I was well wrapped up, so no problem for me.

I got to Queen Street and the L9 bus stop and settled on the side-saddle seat. At Vic Centre, the next stop, a few of the Winwood Heights residents got on. One chap, as he was getting on, was heard to mention how cold it was today – he was wearing shorts! Hahaha!

WD 0.30.0B I h5Fri007cad to battle falling asleep for most of the journey, but failed and did just before the bus arrived at the flats. Klutz! I got off of the L9 last and needed a little help doing so! I near;y topple over get down the step from the bus. Boy, the knees were still bothersome, stiff and giving me some grief!

5Fri08I walked back through the connecting-passageway. Not a soul in sight.

I checked to see if the door mechanism and fire alarm had been repaired while I was out. As if! Hahaha! No.

I fear the flower appreciationing and photographicalisationing’s will never get done before the snow appears. Or Olde Father Time calls on me. Shame!

I met Chrissie Maureen, Roy and another tenant as I arrived at the lift lobby. Offered some nibbles around, and we all somehow or other, got into the same lift, and this was with Roy’s big sit-on trolley and my three-wheeler in there as well!

I bade my farewells with a smile as I limped out of the elevator.

Got in the flat, still, the knees bothered me, and I was feeling reet tired-out.

I set about updating this blog, up to here.

WD 0.30.0B I got a call from someone claiming to be from BT, telling me my internet connection was going to be terminated. Like a fool, I pressed the number one button. I got a bloke telling me I would be me put through to the correct department – who answered immediately asking me what I wanted? I rang off while she was talking. The background noises sounded like they were taped to me! Oh, dear, what now!

5Fri11I got the nosh sorted. Even as I got down to tuck into the fodder, the knees and back were in a painful condition. Poor old sausage! Haha!

I ate most of the meal, had an SGSS (Short-Gently-Sprinkling-Spraying) wee-wee, a wash and stripped off, to get my head down.

With seconds of my settling into the Brother-in-Law Pete damaged, life-threatening, c1968, £300 second-hand recliner, I remembered I had not taken the medications, or done the handwashing. So, up again and off to the kitchen. Got the tablets out, and left the handwashing soaking in the bowl.

5Fri10Back down again in the Brother-in-Law Pete damaged £300, second-hand, gungy-beige coloured, recidivating and rotting-away recliner, and put the goggle-box on to watch a Rumpole of the Bailey on Freeview channel 48.

WD 0.30.0B The stinging otalgia kicked-off. The RAI (Rheumatoid Arthur Itis) twanged with pain even worse. Moments later, the need for the Porcelain Throne. I struggled out of the recliner again; getting an operose job now, and off to the wet room. A most labourously messy and affair, more painful than for days. Much cleaning-up to be done.

WD 0.30.0B Back down again in the Brother-in-Law Pete damaged, £300, second-hand, rickety recliner. I then had the pleasure of the stinging of the Harold’s Haemorroids to contend with alonside the RAI and Back-Pain-Brenda! Not to mention Little Inchies Fungal Infection was bleeding.  Of course, Rumpole had been missed again – but I expect I’d have only fell asleep during the commercial break. Humph!

WD 0.30.0B By the time the ailments and issues had died down, enough for me to consider getting some sleep – I remembered I had not taken the evening medications!

I lay there lamenting my pathetic run of luck… Zzzz!

  1. All that remembering and no tomato slicer? I looked on Amazon and there are all kinds of tomato slicers on offer. You would think someone in Nottingham would have a tomato slicer. At least “You got around. Round, round, round, round, you got around” (the song is something like that with an I instead of you) and took street photos looking for a slicer.

A nine whoopsie day isn’t the worst you’ve had, but still quite a few. Nice pile of a meal you made.

    • Ah, the Beach Boys? Another cracking song and tune.
I put the wrong photo in for the meal, Tim. Another Whoopsiedangleplop, Tsk! I’m going to put the right one in today’s blog. Humph!

Re the tomato slicer, I’ve ordered one from Amazon. A Zyllss Tomatoe (spelt the way it used to be, with a reassuring ‘E’ on the end, Hehehe!) slicer for £18.24. A two-piece job.
I got a confirmation email today. But, I somehow managed to order two of them? Never mind, I’m bound to lose or break one! Delivery is tomorrow! (Sunday).
So, Josie can have nice neat tomatoes on her plate, if it arrives in time. Or at least get them next for the following week.
      Cheers Tim, mate.

      • VP Dan Quayle got ridiculed for correcting a student in a spelling bee with “Potatoe”. He said the card the school gave him had potatoe instead of potato written on it. Sound like the school set him up.

      • Well, well!
When I was managing fruit veg flower and wet fish shops, at the Co-op. we made out own price tickets. I always spelt potatoe, as all the other managers I knew. Things change, though.
Like suddenly everyone over here, is suddenly using ‘Footfall’ for the Decline in sales at the shops. I had to look it up. Hehe! But I have been out off any business fro a long time now. Sad old twit, I am.
        Cheers.

      • I am not familiar with footfall, might be a Britishism. I gave up when Adult became a verb — “Adulting”. When young people do something “grown up” they say they are adulting. “Grown up” are two one syllable words, adulting is three syllables. There’s not even grammatical economy in adulting.

      • I think Footfall is a Continental European invented word, from the financial world, Tim. Saw it for the first time in the local paper.
I’m not familiar with Adulting, but I don’t like it as an option.
