Inchy: Wednesday 2nd August 2023 – Defeatism, Vexation and Penitency!

I gave up trying to sleep at 05:05hrs and shuffled to the edge of the c1966, £300 pound, second-hand charity-shop bought, crumb-containing, odour-retaining, Harold’s Haemorrhoid-testing, nauseatingly beige coloured, non-working, virus-breeding recliner, to reach down to remove the detach. But it wasn’t there! I was so tired last night, I thought it had been put on…

This left me with a heavily full urine day bag that dropped with some alacrity the moment I’d grabbed . This caused a certain amount of pull on poor Little , via the inserted catheter tube that tried to do a runner. Obviously, a man of my calibre winced-not at the agony. I can endure and tolerate such minor mishaps with ease. I did not flinch, swear or cry out ‘Arrgh!’ at all over the trifling matter. No forlornness or glumness from me.
Off to sort out the day pouch in the wet room. The rumblings from within, made me adopt the use of the toilet seat with some haste. And there I sat, with the crossword book for ages.
CW01bNothing other than large doses of wind were evacuated.
Hehehe!
The urine in the day bag was the darkest it’s been for a while.

To the kitchen and I took these terrible photos…
of the heavy rain.
Then onto the balcony to see how the mudslide was.
Sizeable, cause it wasn’t raining much yesterday.

Did the waste bins sorting, and made a mug of tea, I later regretted having one of the two allowed so early.

Carer Shaquille arrived. Checked out the new eye treatments, the and . He could read the small print, and Chris & I could not last night. I thought it was four times a day for the Spray, and two for the Gel, but it’s the other way round. He did the eyelids like a professional. Sorted out a new day pouch and fitted it, too.
Thanked him muchly and off he went on his rounds.

Got the computer on, and what a surprise.

I had a safety check around the flat when I got back, and the internet was on again. It must have been off for about only 15 minutes. Please don’t tell, the owner of Mr Fries of . It might upset him if he knows.

The Iceland delivery arrived.
Just after I took this later view of the oddly shaded sky.

.
Carriers taking into the kitchen for me by the driver. Thanks!

Fresh foods

& Frozen Foods… I’d got them put away, and returning to the computer, I espied the laundry had not been unpacked and hung up. So, I unpacked it & got it hung up!
All three dressing gowns had their sleeves inside out. The shirt and belts took a lot of untangling, too.
But I got it done, and back on the computer.

ILC (Independent Living Coordinators), Oberstgrüppenfuhreress, Warden and Primo Ballerina, Warden Deana came in. Bless her cotton socks. Hearing of my failure to get some cotton pads for using the gel on the eyes, yesterday; she had found a pack at home, and had brought it for me to have! ♥

Then Domestic Assistant Denise arrived. We had… well, I had a natter while she was working. Nice gal.
Back on the computer…
Fancy that!

I titivated the laundry and started a new bag, by into a clean dressing gown. As Denise was about to leave, doing her paperwork, Carer Kara arrived for her weekly financial guidance visit. Be lost without that gal.
As I was leaning forward to take a closer look at some mail she had gathered from the letter box – How can I put it? The catheter tube seemed to twist of its own accord! A little blood was found when I inspected things in the lower regions. I went off to the wet room and got things cleaned up. No idea how it happened? And this caused me to get confused with so many visitors, and my concentration bit the dust for a while.

Kara tried to ring Age UK about two letters sent to me. It took her a long time to get through the automated system in place. When she did, she was told to ring back later on 28th August? Kara was baffled as I was at this?

Then she rang PayPal, which ware suddenly unobtainable. No joy with phoning them. But she knew the problem, they had the wrong mobile number for me. She will try to find a way to contact them for me.
What a crazy day!

I used the Deana-gifted eye pads to gel the eye.

Before the rain returned, the sky was wonderful.
The Citrus Way car park.

I got the nosh tended to.
Photoed it when ⅔rds of the way through eating it, and Carer Chris called on me. I was just about to watch ‘Heartbeat’ as well on the goggle-box.
Although I was keenly aware that I would fall asleep at the first set of commercials, as per usual. I was well drained by then, and could not hear a lot that Chris was saying to me, as he seemed to find it hard to understand what I was saying. It was a bit surreal, really. He said he was doing the last call later. I finished the meal in between medication taking.
Put the tray on the Carers desk, and had to get up when Chris had gone, to empty the .

As expected, I nodded fitfully off when the commercials came on. I took the plate and cutlery and put it in the sink, with baking soda, bleach and washing-up liquid, to soak and free the gunge from the oven tray.

Very early last call from Carer Chris, about 08:35hrs as I recall. The chime rang out and in rushed Chris. He almost forgot to put the night pouch on, but amazingly I remembered to ask him. Off like a shot the lad perused his other duties, I told him to take a treat-can or bottle with him.

Sleep was no longer an option; all this being woken up breaks the pattern methinks? Laying there waiting for to return… and !!! I suddenly feared that I had left the washing in the sink with the hot water tap running – and found that I had!
No hot water for a late-night shave! I was going to have one cause I couldn’t get to sleep!
Change of plans, then!
I took this photograph of the moody-evening sky.
Bootiful!

I clambered back down in the £300, second-hand, musty, Haemorrhoid Harold Testing, cringingly beige, crumb-covered, not-working, rickety recliner.
It must have taken hours for Sweet Morpheus to enfold me. None of the , which I thought would do in my sleep again, as it has for several nights now. It was so easy to nod off… but it felt like every time I did, I was jumping awake within minutes, repeatedly!

Humph!

Another frustrating day. Errors, mistakes, went to get my toenails cut on a wrong day. Clouted my now aching elbow on the door-frame. Lost the mobile phone, but found the magnifying glass when looking for it. On the bright side, there were only three Porcelain Throne visits. Dropped, and this time, broke one of the China tea mugs… hit my forehead on the sink bending to clean up the mess. Still, Jodie and Carolynne calling cheered me up. Carolynne came while I was adding ingredients to the stew of soup I was making for later; her face was a picture when she looked at it and said… “Should it be that colour?… still it smells nice!” The Catheter tube in Little Inchie has given me more angst than for ages – that was because I had to get dressed to go down to the salon to get the feet done, and Cathleen Catheter does not like the tube being pulled about when I have to walk… mind you, Little Inchie certainly disliked it! I’ve just stubbed my toes again as well!

Emptied the pouch

Nippy and windy this morning. Glum, too!

Potatoes into their crock pot again.

Got an email from matess and mate, HRH Lisa-Petal, and Professor Billum from Ohio. They are going to phone me again; bless them and needed to know the best time to ring cause of the cost. I made a clip of the computer screen in Calendar and sent it off to them. ♥

Busy week. Hang on, I did this yesterday, didn’t I? Oh, dear. I think I’m losing it faster than I thought!

Just before lunch, I stood up after hours at the computer, and the straps on the Catheter pouch fell. Got it emptied just in time!

Carer Atere did the first two calls. On the first, as I went to show him, the taps to check were not let running; for a change, Instead of shoulder charging or head-butting the edge of the door-frame, I hit my elbow joint against it. It’s still stinging now, over ten hours later! Humph!

Got a text message. It’s getting harder to read than ever. I did decipher the short message: “Feet 2 p.m.”

So, I had to get the ablutions done swiftly. And dressed to go down to the salon. By the time I’d got halfway there, Little Inchies fungal lesion was giving my… well, agony! This is why when I do not need to go out, I just wear a dressing gown in the flat, thus relieving the harassment to the inserted tubing. I checked the laundry room for my washing bag but could not find it, and I only have one clean gown left, and I’m wearing that.

I must ask a carer later – I must ask a carer later – I must ask a carer later!

When I got to the salon, well, I wrote about this in the intro. I am a fool!
Carer Kara… no, Jodie pointed out the error that I’d made with reading the message. There was another line with ‘Friday’ on it!

Why I took this… another mystery.

Bit of rain.

THe Adsa order arrived…
Kepy it down this time; not too much bought…

This was the sky at the usual sunsetting time?

Still Bootiful!

CArolynee called on the last visit.
Lovely to he her and Jodie after such a long time.

Last photo of the sky.

MY being a pareidolia addict, I found something
in each of the above photos! In the bottom one, at least five animals.
Can you spot them? Go on, have a look!

Got the late nosh sorted out.
Can of lamb & potatoes soup.
Well seasoned with lamb gravy, basil,
tomato passata, Worcester sauces,
mint, sea salt & added a lot of sliced
boiled potatoes.
Soft rolls were delivered today.
Result:

tasty!

ZZZ!

It is now Sunday morning at 01:35hrs. I’ve had a bad day with the concentration, mind-blanks, a tumble, and the mind has not been my own.
Worrying, which comes oh, so easily nowadays, has played a big part in my Saturday sadly-sinking morale. The arrival of the 2nd food order in two days brought on feelings of guilt and shame. Shame that I cannot seem to be logical about anything at all.
This afternoon, when I made a snack and was washing up the few pots used, Weariness-Willy walloped me. I could do nothing but get sat down and drifted into a deep sleep that even the daymares did not spoil – for while dreaming… the usual, distorted things from the early years, somehow I knew I was dreaming and was pleased that I was sleeping. Had Doreen’s Dementia played any part in this catastrophically depressing, mind-wandering Samstag?

First photo of the day. Followed later…
By three more.

Wash and nearly dressed. No trews was put on. I’m not going out anywhere, so a relief for the and me!

The accidentally ordered food arrived…

Porridge and noodles stocked up!

Special Prices on Surf.

Fridge overloaded.

Battered Sticks on offer.

Hello, I’m wee-weeing well!

Then came the mind blank, the big one.
The Carers came, but I can’t recall much or who.

I had a snack of sorts

A pot noodles, and a pot of potatoes.

Weariness-Willy Attacked.
Turned off the computer and
did as the body told me to… I

Woke many hours later and arrived
to destroy my daydreaming. This is when I think I.
waffled on a bit. But maybe not? Yes… I did!

Got back on the computer.
Went to make a brew..

Took some night shots; I’d missed the sunset

Humph!

I went back to the computer and saw signs of my
having been nibbling rather a lot in the bin…

How could I do that and not realise it?

I worked on this blog for several hours.
It was suddenly… to me, 03:20hrs!
Where did the day go?

Made some nosh.
It was horrible!

Got down in the c1966. charity shop bought, second-hand, wincingly grotty, beige coloured, not working, crumb-covered from the nocturnal nibblings, itch-making, uncomfortable, virus breeding, easy-to-fall-out-of, recliner.

The legs and ankles were looking much improved.

Put the TV on, anything with subtitles…
But it was not needed. Around 04:00hrs, I drifted off into the land of blissfulness and peace.
But, as tired out as I felt, Sweet Morpheus mocked me and woke me up with a jump and jerk several times. The Git!

TTFNski Each!

Pandemonium! Everything delaying, interfering and stopping things from getting done. Hence the worst Diary ever. I did get the top bit done, though. And that took until 13:00hrs! Sorry!

The Catheter tubing was causing bleeding again from little Inchies fungal lesion. The Mystery stabbing pains have persisted,  wearing me down

Fait dollop of wee in the night catheter.

Terrible morning view photo.

The light bulb needed changing.
I couldn’t get up the step ladder…
Tall Carer assisted!

Ah, that’s better. Thank you.

Carer Richard’s donated minder whiteboard.
No lift for Monday is available.
The taxi, I suppose?

Cor, the little day catheter bag filled up quickly.

An hour later, again!

Then the wee-weeing stopped?

Evening meal, not bad.
Flavour Rating: 7/10.

Followed by a pot of porridge.
A drop of raspberry syrup was added.

Woken by Carer Carole-Anne.
Who gave the painkillers to me.
And added the night bag to the catheter.
Earlier, Carer Kara tried to get me logged back onto
Internet banking. It wouldn’t let us. She’d not got much time and will try again later. Bless ’em. ♥

Could I get back to sleep?
Well, no, not for ages.
TSK!

Sorry not much on this blog.
Time is so precious…
But, all the medicationings…
Catheter changing and emptying…
Even getting dressed and washed is time-consuming nowadays.
Cooking with one hand and trying to use the walking stick…
The wearying Mystery Rib Pains…
And my wandering stubborn brain…
Fretting and worrying away…

It’ll get better again one day…

06:00hrs: Woke up to find myself shuddering, flapping, and threshing about in the c1966. charity shop bought, second-hand, wincingly grotty, beige coloured, not working, crumb-covered from the nocturnal nibblings, itch-making, uncomfortable, virus breeding, easy-to-fall-out-of, recliner! Boy, that must have been some dream or nightmare I was having! I can’t recall a single thing about it, mind you.
I soon realised that the evening catheter pouch was in need of emptying.

So, I rose precariously (balance not so good) and emptied it.

Off to the kitchen. lovely view out there this morning. But the wind, when I opened the window, made me glad to be indoors.

I  abandoned plans for making a brew and went off to the wet room to get the ablutions sorted. I don’t think I got any cuts at all shaving.
However, when it came to cleaning my rotund, flabby-bellied wobbly, stomached body, I did hit problems. As expected: Cleaning around the inserted tube of the catheter protruding from Little Inchie… I don’t think I need to say this, but… the Fungal Lesion started bleeding! This necessitated the Daktacort ointmentationing to be done. After just a few oohs, argh’s and more fruitful words of agony, I got it finished. No bother to me, of course. With my gigantic pain-tolerance level.  I stopped crying and moved on to other areas in need of similar treatment. and then got some of the eyes drops in roughly the area of the right eye. (But not a lot).

Then, the big challenge – Getting dressed. With the right arm still painful when I stretch or bend, the Mystery Sharp Stabbing Pains in the rib cage, right-hand side, and now at the back as well, of the torso, his usual warning signs of an imminent due, leaving me virtually one handed to get the clothes – which is not easy using a picker-upperer as the same time!
But I made a fine job of it. I put a plaster on the cut finger, laughed off banging my knee on the floor cabinet corner when I lost my balance and applied some Germolene on the bruised head.

Arrived as I was making the much-belated brew. (It went cold). Issued the medications, and he laughed when he said: “Now drop ’em!” Hehehe! Put my socks on for me. Fitted the replacement weekly Catheter pouch. We had a natter, and bade him farwell.
I visited the , messy again, and almost black in colour this time – from the Karki of yesterday?
On the computer, Norton did a scan. Answered the mass of comments that had come in on WordPress… well, one.

There I was, sat, sitting at the computer and I realised that my right foot was warm and wet!
Yes, the pouch had been running the wee straight through, down my leg and into the slipper!
I dropped the trousers and got the bowl to stand my right foot in to catch the urine, which of course, I could not stop the flow!
I threw the sock in as well; that’s not going to be used again! As the bowl started to fill up, I rang Meridian to ask for help. Tina said she’d “Pop up to see you (me) later!
Both trouser legs had been soaked, and my socks and slippers – all of them had to be thrown away.
Not having a lot of luck here, am I?

Oh, What a Calamity!

Arrived shortly after. Got it sorted for me. A different style of open-closure thingamabob fooled us, a press-through instead of a tap on the new pouch. Hah, well. Shame about the slippers, socks and trews having to be dished. But not as bad as it might have been, because some new slippers are being delivered this very day! Via Amazon.

Warfarin, DVT nurse Hristina ♥ arrived, and I explained about my being told to consult the Doctor about my leaving off the Warfarin before the Cystoscopy Procedure.
Hristina rang the surgery, explained everything, and they said they’d ring me back later on. Great!

The Sherington Park Surgery rang.
Told me I had to ring the hospital to find out about the Warfarin. This is the hospital that tells me to ring the Doctor?
Farcical doesn’t come into it!

Came. Telling him about the problem with the Warfarin and thought I’d better ring the DVT Clinic, as they control the Warfarin and arrange for the blood tests to be calculated. I got what I thought was the telephone number for the DVT clinic from the web, but it turned out to be the Queen’s Medical Switchboard.
She would not put me through and told me to ring the Urology at the Nottingham City Hospital – This is the hospital that tells me to ring the Doctor?
Ty took over the phone and got the number of the Urology at the Nottingham City Hospital. He’ll ring them tomorrow, but he is too busy at the moment to do it. Ty brought in the laundry and deposited the bag in the front room for me. Checked taps. But did not watch me taking the tablets… I thought I may have kist in through the missing teeth, but we could not see any under the cupboard. Off he went, saying he’d see me later.

So, more hours lost getting nowhere! I’m so frustrated and am still unsure of what to do about the Warfarin dosages.

Finally got the Monday blog completed and made a start on this one.

I got the laundry hung up and put it away. But the stretching and bending brought back the calmed down stabbing pains again. I’m not happy with these mystery pains! U just hope they are connected to urology problems and not something new ailment-wise. I’ll give you an idea of them… ARGH!

I could do no more now. Uncomfortable with the pains, tired out. Pathetically mega-depressed and irredeemably frustrated! Sorry for myself, I suppose? Let’s face it, nothing much is going right for me, is it?

Repeated catheter bag emptying.

I’ll get something to eat, methinks. No bread, no butter. A few chips, gravy, Ah, well, that’ll do.

Took a snap from the kitchenette window, showing my spare 3-wheeler walker on the balcony.
Also, the gravel path I used to be able to get up on my walks through the tree copse. So sadly missed.

My bread and butterless meal was thoroughly enjoyed.
I forgot to photograph it, so took one of the empty bowl after the food was demolished. Hahaha!

Woken around 2125hrs, as arrived. I was still half-asleep. Richard got the night bag attached to the day bag and the pouch in the grey bowl. I’m sure we had a chat about something – likely me moaning about not being able to find out about the Warfarin leaving off… Yes, I think it might have been.

Evening All!
