Another escape from the flat…
But only to the hospital at that…
Not much time for any chitchat,
Dr’s with students, so each a pedantocrat,

The night catheter pouch colour was better today!
Nice morning, a little windy.

Telly on to watch the news. Of course, I didn’t; I began to get the things ready for the trip out to the medical thingamabob.

Glad to see the treats on the carer’s table had been nibbled at…

Last check of the painful right foot and leg ulcer.
I have a range feeling that this visit will come out well. It’s probably EQ talking to me with one of his forecasts?
At least, I hope it is, cause he’s usually right.

I thought I’d got all I needed for the visit, (checked the status of the windows, balcony, taps (faucets), & stove. Looked again in the three-wheeled walker bag to see I had everything needed, and set off to catch the bus to the Centre.
Out, in the lift (elevator) and down to the ground floor. Going through into the link passage to inform Meridian about my imminent departure; got through the swipe door into the tunnel, and realised I’d forgotten something. Turned back through the door… and realised that either or maybe both of them had removed the memory of what it was I was going back up to the flat to fetch!
As I stood there musing and failing to recall what it was, the Domestic lady Denise came through on her way to do the flat for me. A good time to tell her I would not be there, Hehe!
No signs of any recollection, so I had to ensure to catch the bus on time. I called at the Meridian office to tell them I will not be back for the 12:00hrs medications, and if they keep me in, I’ll let them know, or, when I return.
Caught the bus alright. I planned it all out – I should know better that I am capable of making arrangements that work.
Still, I did think at the time how clever I was to work out where to get off the bus, to make it far less distance for me to walk to the UCC building. However…
I misjudged the distance by about five bus stops, half a mile. I got off the bus, with the help of passengers at the bus stop’s help, and then I realised my . I did feel like a fool!

Hell of a trek to get to the traffic island. To make things worse, as I approached the bend in the road, there were pavements blocked off, road and pavement works and men spraying words of instruction for the location of telephone wires, gas, etc. Having to go on the roadway to get by was sometimes a little hairy. Little did I know what lay further ahead for me!

Bath Street was blocked off for traffic and pedestrians. So I had to rely on my memory, to work out another route to get to the Canal Street roundabout. From there, I could see the NHS building (I thought I would). Relying on my memory is not a good scenario nowadays! However, my attention to road safety deteriorated, as I came across some wildflowers at the end of another block of student flats being erected building site. The advertising hoarding said; Now being built – available in 2024, 1210 new student flats. Singles doubles and multiple occupation apartments. One to six students per residence or per flat?

Anyway, these flowers were beautiful. During my hobble, I stopped many times to look at nature’s plants forcing their way out through wasteland, cement, concrete and paving slabs, but these were special to me. Why? I’ll tell yers…
None of the other plants or flowers had bees or wasps near them; these red beauties were snided with them. The same happened with those near the bus depot, which had been demolished and even more student flats were being built there, and the waste area near the island site. I wonder why?

I accidentally took a snap of the shadow of my bulging torso and the trolley. I was about to try and take a photo of some beetle or other that lay there on the pavement, with people walking by, and seemed unconcerned? I took its picture.
On Thursday, I got more information about these, and why it was alive but not moving. .Carer Richard, always a font of knowledge, told me they were ‘May Beetles’. The males are born, (May to July) and set about breeding, but only once, then they settle down and die. And I complain about things.
The poor little beggars!

Lower Parliament Street
I had to corrs over to the right of this photo, as they are building more student flats. (Yes, I know!) Then when I got to the Nottingham Ice Centre. They were building more flats again, a massive block with no details available, and the old bus station has also been earmarked for new student flats.
I got to the point where I was sure I’d be able to see the NHS building – But No! The land was now a wasteland, and I could not see through to the building further in the plot.
I stopped a chap and explained that with all the roadworks near the London Road island, I could see barriers and limited asses, and wondered if there is another way in for pedestrians. The chap told me, “I’m not from here myself” However, he whipped out his mobile and did a search on something and found out that if I went to the left, first right and right again, I should come to the building I needed, casual mentioning to help me follow the route, that it was next to some student flats being built. I thanked him profusely and hobbled off with my 3-wheeled walker on the agreed route. I was longer than I thought it would be, by the time I got there, the feet and toes were well aching.

I wearily got inside, and up to the receptionist. Who, along with all the doctors, had student training with them. Logged in and sat down in one of the few unoccupied seats as instructed.
Within minutes, I was called to an assessment office, DR and student within. The chap in charge was pleasant. Took my details and told me to go back to a seat and someone from the surgeries would call me; it may be a two to three hours wait. No matter what I thought, I’ll do my crossword book… then I remembered what I’d forgotten to take with me! Tsk!

I was fighting not to fall asleep, because all the people called in while I was waiting, I hadn’t heard s single name they called out.
A female came after about an hour and a half, and when she I did my usual of tipping my head to point the better of ears at them. She smiled and took me through to a room with a doctor and a student inside.
The chap was also pleasant and went into detail about my ailments. falls, and the causes, which he assumed was the big fall I had last Friday. They gave me a prescription for some antibiotics, warning me that they will start working, but not on the pain for a day or two, as they are extra strong, and assured me they would start to ease things for me.

He got a wheelchair, and the student pushed me to the X-ray room for a check to see if any of the three brown toes had been broken. None had. I was student-pushed back in the wheelchair (catching my wound on the edge of a doorway) to the first room, and we had a few words, which for some reason I cannot recall or even guess at, now I’m typing this.

A contented Inchie makes his way to the chemist to have his prescription filled. Unaware of what will happen, en route!

At the end of the access road, it was blocked off to pedestrians where the new Student Flats are being built. So this meant a marathon diversion for him and Willie, his Three-Wheeled-Walker. Up London Road…Where the uneven-broken pavement nearly had Willie and Inchie over a couple of times.

To the traffic lights, over the road and down Station Street, which was ever taking him further away from his targeted Boot’s Chemist!
The old shopping centre was now demolished in Auf Weidersehen style. A walk through gay to the left of the picture led me through to where Woolworths once was, on Chapel Bar.
Every closed-down shop, and there are dozens of them, had several rough sleepers, asking for cash. I felt uncomfortable about this, as I know of some people who make a living doing this, then go home in the morning – one of them is sadly in my family! He makes a lot of dosh, even more now; he’d moved to London to do it and lives in a hotel or youth hostel when not scrounging. His baby face helps him, I think.

Maid Marion Way. More flats were being started for 500 being built! Next to one with 240 already built.
Down to the Slab Square, a once restful, peaceful, pleasant pacifistic, phlegmatic place, of contentment..
It’s not so busy nowadays, with all the murders, muggings, gang fights, Escooters, yobboes and closed shops.
Although the mortgage needed to use coffee shops still do a roaring trade. The unemployed use them a lot.
King Street, or is it Queen Street?
With the regulation, food delivery cyclist is driving up the one-way (Down) street. Traffic on Upper Parliament Street is busy.
I got up on Upper Parliament Street, feeling a tad drained. Made my way to the nearly bankrupt Victoria Centre, and the Boots Chemist shop appears when I got inside to be getting ready for closing when I got in. Big gaps on the shelves. Getting the prescription made up,. (It will save a carer having to fetch it, and as I was in town anyway.)

As I left the store, I thought I’d nip in the Poundland Store to see if they had some of the Worcester sauce chip thingies in stock. They did, but only two packets left, so I got them.
Over the road and to the number 40 bus stop.
To my delight, Carer Chris tapped my shoulder. He was on his way into work, and helped me on and off the bus, so that was nice and welcome. He also kept steadying me each time I was thrown around as the bus braked, went over speed humps or around corners. I told him about how well the visit to the NHS centre had gone. Tired, early, in pain, yes!
But feeling much better all around. For getting out again, and meeting someone I could talk to on the home trip. Nice!

Chris shot off to get to work. I poddled in and up to the flat.
I think the first thing I did was empty the catheter bag again, put the kettle on, and took one of the 4-a-day Antiseptic tablets. No, that’s not right, erm… antibiotic tablet.

Penicillin, it said on the box. Then decided that sleep would be a grand idea, so after the Carer calls, I’ll try to nod off until the 22:00hrs Carer calls to medicate and put the night pouch on for me… then enjoy some proper sleep. That’s the plan, anyway!

Then I took a close look at the inflammation on the ankle and toes, I was pleased, not with the pain, but the swelling going down already? Can’t be that quick? After one capsule? I may not be seeing so well, but I can check this photo in the morning.
Mind you, the good Doctor did tell me they would have no effect on the pain for 48 hours. So, no complaints, I have, after all, been doing some walking this week.
I bet it’ll be easier in the morning, or, tomorrow night.

Now, I’d better get a meal made up.

What a feast! Of course, with the hobbling most of the day, I suppose I’m going to be hungrier than normal?
Flavour Rating: 8.8/10.

I nodded of while trying to watch ‘Heartbeat’ yet again!
Woken by Carer Chris calling, around 22:00hrs.
He seemed as pleased as I was at the meeting up earlier.
He soon got the eye drops in. Then the medicationing. Followed by the eye drops were done.
As Chris was filling in the paperwork, he moved the curtain, and I saw the sunset. I mentioned that I would have liked to have photographed the lovely-looking sun on its way down, but was just too tired to. He grabbed the camera and took these shots from the balcony for me.
A nice wide shot.
Then a glorious close-up for me.
He then attached the night bag to ,
and said his farewells. Bless him!.

I later found this sign of Nottingham traffic chaos, up the road from the flat, on Mapperley Plains Woodborough Road.
.
Just thought you might like to know it’s not only where you live.
Hahaha!

Feet up – kip!

Whorra Day!

Inchcock Today – Monday 18th June 2018: Medicationalisticalisationing today. Hehe!

Monday 18th June 2018

Yiddish: 2018 מאָנטיק 18 יוני

0030hrs: Woke up with the muddled-mind back to playing its usual tricks and wandering all over, nervous, fearful and frustrated; but it soon stopped when the first of the neuralgia pains like electric shocks started to cascade through the right-hand side of the head and continued to do so with merciless venom. Definitely going to the NHS Drop-in Centre to ask for advice this morning.

I was up and out of the £300 second-hand recliner, taking care in case any dizzies came, but they didn’t so all okay there.

Off for a short-sharp wee-wee, then rinsed and took the morning medications with some tap water.

Collated the laundry and set off down to the lobby. As I alighted from the elevator, I noticed a right mess on the carpeting. I don’t think it was made by the Willmott Dixon lads at the weekend, they were not working. Then again, I have been flat-bound for two days.

1Mon01

Got the washer going, and back up in the lift. A short-sharp wee-wee then sorted the records for, and did the Health Checks, for this morning.

1Mon03

1Mon02I put the high pulse down to my having been a little more active than usual before doing the checks.

The neuralgia started to get worse now and moving, no, spreading down to the neck again, but there was no swelling of the cheeks yet.

By the time I’d done these and took the photo, it was time to return back down and move the 1Mon01blaundry from washer to the dryer.

I moved some clothing that had been left by someone, folded it and put it on the draining board.

Got the dryer going. Then I nipped outside and took a couple of photographs of the flats and outside of the lobby.

1Mon07bWhen I leant back to take the shot of the Woodthorpe Court with the lift lobby window lights on, there were no dizzies whatsoever. Good that!

The morning was a little breezy, but it was not cold at all.

WDP02C Meandering back to the lobby door, and concentrating on putting the camera away, I walked into the second pole from the right. Bruised shoulder now I think. Hoddy-noddy!

I did feel a fool!

For some reason, this started Duodenal Donald off. Why it should have done this, I have not the foggiest. But now I’m having to cope with Duodenal Donald and the (Newly Christened) Neuralgia Nigel. Hehe!

Got a sore throat coming on too. But that might be linked to the damaged nerves, I suppose. Or not, or perhaps, maybe?

1Mon04Back up to the apartment, and had a long-painful wee-wee.

Took the morning’s medications and made a start on this diary.

I stopped a while and made a list of the medications I am on, to take with me to the NHS Drop-in centre on London Road. It’s a bit of a walk after I get off of the L9 bus, but its got to be done. I just hope they do not tell me off for going there, instead of making an appointment to see the Doctor. Last time I made one, it was a six-day wait to get in. Getting a bit nervous about going now. The last thing I want is for them to call an ambulance to take me to the Queens Medical Centre. Where I had a further three-hour wait to be seen. Then, I told they were to keep me in. Then I was informed there were no beds, and sent home after the buses had stopped running, had no money for a taxi and ended up walking for three hours all the way back to the flat, at 0100hrs in the morning. Ah, memories… Tsk!

Done it: Warfarin, Bisoprolol Fumarate, Pentoxifylline, Simvastatin, Omeprazole, Ramipril, Codeine Phosphate, Peptic Antacid, Furosemide, Clobetasone cream, Daktacort cream, Corticosteroid cream, Paracetamol. Hope I’ve not missed anything off. Just in case they see me, I’ll put it in my pocket now while I think of it.

1Mon07The timer chirped, and I made my way down once more to the laundry room, to collect the clothing.

Clothes out and folded into the bag. Filter cleaned, drum wiped and a failed attempt to clean up the bits off of the floor.

The old brush just would not shift the bits of whatever they were.

1Mon001To the lift and up to the twelfth floor.

Got the attire put away.

Back on the computer updating this blog.

I thought I heard that whining noise that seems to appear sometimes, from outside. Had a look out of the kitchen window, but could see nothing. I’ve got noises in the head now? Haha!

1Mon07aWent to make another brew. Taking the Nigel Neuralgia and Duodenal Donald’s hassling with me, of course. Tsk!

Porcelain Throne session next. Far less messy evacuation this one, no bleeding from Harold’s Haemorrhoids, and the Fungal Lesion bled only a tiny bit.

I moved to finalise the Saturday post. Then on 1Mon07cCorelDraw to do some advanced page top graphics. Got three done and filed away. Readied things for the bus ride and hobble to the Health Centre.

One last shot from the kitchen window. Just because the scene looked so beautiful.

Black bags dropped down the waste chute on the way out.

1Mon07dThe place was busy this morning. Plant machines were locating, delivery lorries queuing, chaps setting off up into the sky in the external hoists, men out directing the traffic, as the incoming trucks had blocked the outgoing cars and vans from getting along Chestnut Walk in their bid to get out.

I got to the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights, Stabsgefreiteress Wardens Temporary HQ, WC, Willmott-Dixon workers breakfast and tea-break room, Sarcasm & Insult distribution area, Tenants Socialisational Area, Telling Inchcock-off Zone, Crockery and pottery to be stolen from, and residents room, hut. Where I asked Warden Deana if she would be kind enough to ring the NHS Drop-In centre for me. She obliged me, bless her cotton socks. I was advised to call and see them. Thanked Deana and went to the bus stop. Cyndy, Penny, Doris, Roy and Welsh William were having a good chinwagging concourse, with much laughing to boot.

The other residents all agreed that I looked ‘Pasty’ and pale. Got on the bus with Penny and had a jolly decent, enjoyable natter en route.

1Mon08I got off the bus early, and, with Penny’s best wishes I set off on a walk to the NHS, although I wasn’t exactly too sure which was the optimum route to take to get to it.

The distant white building in the middle centre of this photographicalisation was identified as my objective.

So, off I set taking a direct route. At least I 1Mon09thought I had. Hehe!

As I walked along Lower Parliament Street, an ambulance shot over the lights on red.

There were no stop-Go lights for pedestrians at this junction. Took me a while to get across to the other side of them. I realised if I carried on the way I was going, it would take me a bit of time to get around the buildings and double back to 1Mon10the Health Centre.

I notice a chap walking in front, and he took a shortcut down a road, and I followed him best I could.

I lost him, of course, or instead, he was too fast for me. Haha!

The beige Citroen car is where I turned to chase 1Mon11after the man to see if I could cut-through to the Drop-In centre.

I crossed the road where the car was, and almost laughed out loud when I saw who he had got a mannequin, model or poster of, in the back seat.

Hehehe!

1Mon12I saw the chap in the far distance, and he too was going to the NHS building. I had to climb a bit of rough ground to get into the apparently vacant field.

Walked through and somehow got over the fence at the other end, and found I was within 50 yards of the building’s entrance door. Good Stuff!

I got in and reported to one of the ladies on the desk. She had taken the call from Warden Deana earlier. Told me to sit and wait for my name to be called out, which I did.

Always the same isn’t it? The stabbing pains in the face ear and neck all eased off, as I got the crossword book out and awaited my being summoned. Tsk!

A nurse came out and fetched me into a room. She interrogated me about my condition and details etc. In the nicest possible way. She also said I looked a little drained. And, here was me thinking I felt okay. Haha! She sent me out to the waiting area, telling me someone would call me into another room. I’d barely got the crossword book out, and another Angel of Mercy fetched me into her room. Doing well, now, eh?

This gal went into deep detail and referred to my information on the computer each time I gave an answer to her many questions. She did an ECG I think that’s what it is called. Blood Pressure, temperature, checked the teeth, no problems. Looked into my eyes, Brave gal! Checked both earholes. Then the throat. This was the only concern she shown. Very red in there, apparently? After a lengthy investigation, she declared she’d no idea what my problem was, but said it needed looking into, and I must make an appointment with my Doctor without delay.

I thanked her and departed. Now, I’m not sure if it was what folks had been saying about my looking sickly all morning; But, as I began the hobble into town, I then started to feel weak and unwell, but not really poorly. Lightheaded, vague, and a few memory blanks. If you know what I mean?

Then, the stabbing pains returned in the neck, spreading further down this time. But they stopped again within an hour or so, afterwards. No dizzies, though, I was confused now.

I had a slow, steady walk to the sad soon to be closed down Broad Marsh shopping mall. I called in the Heron Food store, Mistake that! I came out having spent a good few quid again. Got a small packet of strong-mature cheddar cheese. A bottle of sterilised milk. Two packs of smoked back bacon for only £1.50. Some pork scratchings to go in with the nibbles-box for the Social Hour. Bottle of malt vinegar and they had some of the biscuits they name Shorties. Not had any for months now, so being as they were also on Special Offer, I got a few packets.

Not really confident of what I did when I came out of the shop; but must have made my way into the City Centre, cause I had no end of photographs of Nottingham Pavement Cyclists on the SD card I found later.

1Mon13Had a walk around the streets in search of some wholemeal oven-bottom-muffins. But I could not find any at all anywhere. Ah-well!

Made my way to Queen Street, but with the mind being a little confused today, I got the timing wrong and had missed the L9 bus. Shlemiel!

I caught a 40 bus instead. It is longer to walk to 1Mon14the flats from the bus stop, and crossing the road on the hilly bend can be a bit dodgy. But, the bus gets there quicker with it taking a less circuitous route.

On Sunday there was a stabbing in Victoria Mall. As the bus drove past the entrance to the shopping centre, two ambulances were taking three patients away. I wonder what had taken place?

1Mon14aDropped off on Winchester Street and got over the road without any bother.

The view as I walked down towards Chestnut Walk, was breathtaking, I thought.

The wind was getting up, mind.

As the complex came into sight, I took a shot of the complex with a close-up of some of the lads on a hoist against Winchester Court.

1Mon15

As I walked past the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Flats, Unterscharführeress Wardens Temporary HQ, Willmott-Dixon workers breakfast and tea-break room, Sarcasm & Insult distribution area, Tenants Socialisation Shed, Telling Inchcock off Zone, Things like crockery and pottery to be stolen from, and residents room, Warden Julie knocked on the window to get my attention. She asked how things had gone at the Health Centre. I thanked her for inquiring.

Made my way to the flat, feeling a bit steadier now. Got the Health Checks were done and the pork ribs in the oven cooking. Put a tine of BBQ beans in a saucepan with some Texa cooking sauce. After 25 minutes I added these to the tray with the pork to cook off.

Rang Sister Jane to tell her about today’s medical meanderings.

WDP02C She rang back later while I got the mess sorted out where I’d dropped the tomatoes on the floor. We had a chinwag, and she informed me of her friend in the hospital and was struggling. Apparently, she had fallen in her garden and had remained there for four days! Poor thing!

Updated this blog, it took a long time with the concentration not being right, but hey, I’m still here to lose my attention. Hahaha!

1Mon16Got the meal sorted and served up in the oven tray it was finished off roasting in. A little less to wash up. Haha!

Mega-delicious. Top taste-rating ever think this one, 9.45/10!

Got the TV on and all ready to watch England’s first game of the tournament.

1Mon17What an emotional ride this was too!

The referee was incompetent. Tunisia’s defence tactics at free-kicks and corners seemed to be to get tangled with England forwards and tie them up so they could not get to the ball?

Glad we won in the end, but this indeed wasn’t a masterpiece, more of a farce!

Neuralgia Nigel was with me from here on, but far less activity in the electric-shock-like stabbing pains than earlier and yesterday.

The mind rambled on drifting from on fear to another. Sleep was resisting me, again. Tsk!

Inchcock’s Diary: Sat/Sun 1/2 November 2014

Saturday 1st November 2014

I slept for a longer period than I have for ages last night.

When I woke up at 0215hrs I was aware of flashing lights coming through the window and investigated – up the hill I could see many emergency vehicle lights flashing, at least six I estimated.

I tried to nod off again but gave up returning to my slumber at 0310hrs and the lights were still visible on the hill. I popped (limped) down and got the camera (and Daktacort cream) and tried to photo them (The emergency vehicles not the Dakacort cream like). But the window was too dirty, the incident too far away, the lights too small and those photo’s I took were like modern art – I could see nothing in them!

I checked out the ‘Inch’; only tiny specks of blood and the stinging seemed less this morning. But then again, I did not wake up with him in his usual excited state.

06St02

Brekkers for Inchcock this morning

I then remembered it was the first of the month, and was determined to change my luck by my first spoken words being Rabbit rabbit rabbit; unfortunately I stubbed me toe at that moment and my first spoken words were “Argh!!”

0340hrs: Down and laptop started, made a cup of best Yorkshire tea and Jersey full cream milk and took medications about 0410hrs. A little early but I thought best do it now so I don’t forget later.

Started this diary in an effort to get Britain’s youngsters to read it, and inform them of what can happen to one when they get older and decline slowly into oblivion. Good that, I might use it later on the web methinks. Hehe!

I felt more cold, tired and weak as the day went on.

Didn’t go anywhere at all, saw no one and only spent my time on the web or preparing posts.

Not a good day health-wise methinks.

Sunday 2nd November 2014

07Head

Bit of dizziness this morning, so I took it steady. Despite the sleep I’d had, I still felt a tad weak and tired.

I went down to get the cream from the fridge. The ‘Inch’ was throbbing again, sore tender and bleeding a bit. Applying the Daktacort cream was not a pleasant job this morning. (Ooh, ah, glurkumzap)

WC.

The Haemorrhoids were bleeding as well, quite a bit.

I was a mite concerned that today was not going to be a good one when the out of the blue depression came over me.

I hate feeling sorry for myself. There are so many others in much worse situations than I. I thought I’d wrap up well and try to get out later for a walk and get some camera use in, to try and shake missen up.

Core blimey, I’m sneezing away like a good un here now.

Made a cuppa with the Jersey full cream milk and took me morning medications.

It seems to be getting colder now… might have to think again about going out? Mmm.

07Su01Doing some prep work for me posts on Inchcock and LOMM and got the wet warm feeling in little Inchy. Went up with the last of the Dakacort cream to investigate.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear – blood in great proportions did flow,

Took me ages to stop it bleeding, got a mild panic you know.

I thought to the hospital perhaps I should go?

Being s Sunday, I thought instead no,

To the NHS drop in centre on me walk I’ll go.

So I got missen ready and poddled/walked into town.

07Su021315hrs: Got to the centre and explained me situation to the gal on reception, and she said take a seat it won’t be long before your seen.

1500hrs: Got called to see a nurse. Again explained everything and he said to go to the G.U.M. clinic in the morning to have it checked out again.

07Su031535hrs: Left the centre and had a walk through the city centre.

I noticed the Trinity Square multi-million pound food court was busy again?

And the new outdoor double row of very expensive restaurants was also doing a roaring trade.

07Su03aWell tired I made me way to the bus-stop – having another dizzy spell on the way.

I caught a bus back to the dump and just faded, did nothing but get summat to eat and me head down.

Not a good day.
