The worst day for months. I think I’ve got the flu coming on or something. Balance and concentration are all over the place. I took two tumbles in the evening, the last one when I was beginning to make the meal. The first one was okay; I was in the front room when I was let down by
, and leant towards the c1966, £300 Oxfam charity shop bought, second-hand, wincingly grotty, beige coloured, crumb-covered from my nocturnal nibblings, itch-making, uncomfortable, positively unhealthy & dangerous, no longer operational, virus-breeding, easy-to-fall-out-of, Catheter-tube-trapping, recliner, avoiding the problem of getting up from the floor on my feet again. As I say, the second fall was caused by
giving way at the same time as I a mini
. No chance of avoiding a knee-crunching tumble that time. I’m fine now, though, physically. I put some pain gel on the knee, and took an extra painkiller, as the left knee was still
giving me some bother still from the twisting to get to the easy chair in time and on target. Which I found later, had annoyed
, so he got gelled as well.
My balance is still not right, but I’m taking it steady, just in case. Better safe than sorry.
My concentration has been AWOL all day long. I struggled to understand the Carers, although the gal at midday caught me in a moment of awareness… which lasted for about an hour, then back to the vagueness yet again. Bad, bad day, and I’ve got three callers coming in the morning… or afternoon tomorrow. Two social workers, and the toenail cutter gal. I may even get the rail for the bed delivered… no reason to expect it, just my EQ kicking in just told me of the chance.

03:20hrs: Night pouch.
Poor pictures of the view.

Morning mug of tea!

Mind-Blanks
The carer arrived, and I started on the computer afterwards. Vaguely recall, the photo helped.

Feeling a little more with it, and
came. Concentration was still not good, mind you. Kara put the leg straps on for me and changed the catheter day bag got me, bless her. She gave me some advice, I think, either on the TV or the Banking side?
Seems I made a JS order for delivery on Tuesday 23rd. I found it on the calendar when looking to see who was coming in the morrow, so I must have put the order in and recorded it. I checked on their site, and sure enough, I’d placed an order!
.
Not sure when I took this one.
Ah, I recall Sister Jane ringing me earlier on now. I even remembered telling her about the nosh I had planned and Was going to use the frozen bacon… and she told me to cut it up (take the fat off) while the bacon is frozen, which was much easier. And it was too!
.
This is the fat removed…
.
These are the lean bits I intend to do in the oven, and I add them to either a can of veg chilli or baked beans.
.
Can and sauce are stored upside down, so it will be easier to empty when using them.

it’s getting dark earlier!
And, I seem to be passing much better? Hope the nurse comes, and she might give me a chance to manually pee… although the last time she did, it was like trying to pass a crushed glass, and I failed.
Same again!
Tried to take some decent shots from the kitchenette window. The middle one came out pretty fair.
Quiz Revealed!
I found it – in 50 seconds, though.
Going to get the nosh made now.
Curried baked beans, oven-cooked bacon bits.
Tomato passata, liquid sea salt, vinegar, bread thins, a banana, and a pot of lemon curd dessert.

Got the pots soaking in the sink, and I made certain the tap was turned off. Returned to the itch-creating, bruise-giving, catheter-tube-tugging, crumb-decorated from my nocturnal nibblings, God-awfully uncomfortable, cringingly-grotty, no longer working, dirty beige, anti-sleep designed, c1966, second-hand bought for £300, ten years ago from the charity shop, recliner, and things started off… Rumbling and implosions from the bowels and bladder, immediate pains from
. Then a very rare headache started. Couldn’t watch any TV, my vision was more blurred than it ever has been for years! Sleep didn’t come until the small hours… but it was constantly broken as I kept waking up. Somehow,
crept into the few minutes kip each time I nodded off.
CHEERS
You didn’t cut yourself defatting the bacon? Good Job. I just read an article about the British Postal Service scandal that included this quote, ” The Criminal Cases Review Commission called the scandal the “most widespread miscarriage of justice the CCRC has ever seen and represents the biggest single series of wrongful convictions in British legal history.” Good think you didn’t work for the Post Office. Excellent night shots and decent looking meal.
Hahaha! Cutlass!
Yep, there are still Postmasters in prison, accused of fiddling the books, when it was a computer error all the time. The judges believed at the time of the trials, that the computers could not be faulted. Took them years to find out. There are releasing them sent to prison, and paying back compensation to all. The HMG Minister has resigned! Good job too after what she claimed years ago about a .Mafia sized Fiddle! Or something like that.
Not so good again last nigjht and most of today, but things seem to be easing… beats me how cold can come on and off so quickly? (That’s if it doesnt start again tonight) Might be the ne Covid Virus the carer said this morning. We’ll make extra safety checks on you later. The PM Carer arrived, and wasn’t even aware I was poorly! Still, they didn’t falsely accuse me of fiddling any cash. Haha!
Cheers mate.
I love the blue sky photo most. Love your ode, another good-un.
Cheered me up hearing that, thanks, Sir.
Sister Jane said it was ~Perth where she lived, by the way. In 1970, the place was called Wilson, but she thinks it has changed its name now, and wondered what it is… I’ll try to remember to ask Mr Google later.
TTFNski!
I hope the flu is mild if you are coming down with it, but I hope you aren’t! Gad! As if just dealing with the regular routine you have to have isn’t pain enough, Gerry!
Freezing the bacon, then trim it or cut it or peel it off the slab…what s great suggestion! If it’s just chilled, one’s hands get all greasy and require washing with dish detergent to get sanitary again. I suppose you still have greasy hands with the frozen bacon, but not so bad.
Thanks Doug. The Carer this morning, (I was in a bad state mind you at the time) Thought it might be the new strain of Covid. That went down well, Hehehe!
Sister Jane comes out with these tips on cooking occasionally. Worked a treat… and I didn’t cut a dingle finger!
I followed your explanation perfectly, cutting wet bacon is sooo messy, as you said, mate.
I’ve another packet in the fridge, so time for a cut or two yet. Haha!
I rarely have any on hand since processed, heavily salted meats are on my “avoid except on rare occasions” foods list.
The Folate deficiency anaemia Doctor, told me to eat haddock and mackerel, which I did until the tablets arrived a week later. Now I find I’ve been eating foods so High in Vitamin K, then the Warfarin INR level has peaked. The DVT Haematology nurse was not happy about this. We can’t win? Hahaha!
Hope all well, Doug.
I often feel like a science experiment because of blood tests each month that reveal similar shifts from deficiencies the doctor adjusts with new medications or changes in current prescription dosages that send me in the opposite direction. Most recently, it was I was eating too much yoghurt, ice cream, and cheese, so I had to cut back…only to have a sharp drop in my calcium level that required…increasing my intake of, well, you know! LOL!
Hahaha! I didn’t mean to laugh Doug, but I can see such a similarity between our routines.
“A fine balancing act?”
We’ve just has a warning today, to expect -7 celsius overnight. Well, that cheered me up. Haha!
Cheers!
How about -18 degrees C here tonight, with lower temperatures toward 4 am. Yeah, we have similar routines, just different “vicissitudes”, so to speak.
Another similarity twixt us, Doug?
Vicissitudes, I’ve used that in one ode, I think. I like it!
I like the word!
