Monday 3rd June 2019
Scottish Gaelic: Diluain 3 Ògmhios 2019
02:40hrs. I woke up in a more bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, perkier mood (this was due to change within ten-minutes, tough, Humph!) this morning. I expected this is because of my long-overdue impending visit to the chiropodist later this morning.
The now regular awakening need of a wee-wee arrived. I extracted my overweight bulbous body from the £300 second-hand, c1968, gungy-beige, tatty, rickety recliner and to the EGPWWB (Emergency Grey Plastic Wee-wee bucket), and a lengthy evacuation took place.
I was almost ecstatic when I realised that Arthur Itis, Colin Cramps, Leslies Leg-Shaking,
Axonotmesis, Anne Gyna and the Peripheral neuropathy, were all being practically painless to me! This boosted the perkier mood, up to Over-the-Moon status. (Wait for it, here it comes…)

Suddenly. I decided to get the hand-washing out of the way the first job of the day. So, feeling a little cocky, I poddled to the kitchen without the walking stick; just as I was going over the door tread, I gave myself the worst ever Toe-Stubbing of my life! This immediately activated the Axonotmesis stamping and shaking of the leg – and I repeatedly suffered severe pain every time the foot stamped down on the floor!
I made a grab for the counter, to stop myself falling, and caught onto the tray instead of the surface, the server-tray slid, and I went with it, down onto the floor! The memories of last time I went on the floor having the stroke were refreshed, and the pain was genuinely excruciating from the stubbed big toe afterwards. And it hasn’t stopped hurting since. I just hope I have not broken any bones.
Getting back up, I used the method shown to me by Caroline and Sonia. It worked well enough and saved me panicking and using the wristlet emergency alarm. I was barefooted at the time, I limped and hirpled my way to the other room, and belatedly put on the slippers. But they had to come off, it was too painful wearing them. Now I was fretting about my getting to the chiropodist at the Medical Centre.
Nothing to do about it, but wait and hope the pain eases, so I can get my shoes on later, and make it to the clinic.
I took the medications, with extra Codeine Phosphate pain-killers. I hope they do not send me to sleep. Huh, I just can’t win, can I?
I tackled the hand-washing. Moved the bath towel, which was not anywhere near dry yet, onto the stand-up airer. Then, I wrang-out the t-shirt and socks best I could and got them drying on the airer.
No calls to the Porcelain Throne yet?
To add to my misery, I clouted my elbow on the door edge when hanging up the towel. What a Nebech I am!
The fingers were so bad this morning, the faintest touch of the tips against anything at all, and they would start dancing and jumping. However, I discovered the new Canon camera, could be used with the left hand, and still allow the shutter (due to its location nearer the centre top) to be pressed with a left finger. Not perfect, but overall better than trying to use the shaking right hand and fingers. Bit of luck there! But using the keyboard and mouse remains a battle of wills, with the fingers usually winning. I’m taking longer and longer doing the blogs and CorelDrawing. Phwert!
The poorly right foot’s big toe, is still painful, even with the shoes, socks and slippers off. I’m a bit concerned about this, and having to walk and travel with the footwear on, to the bus then clinic. This thought prompted me to check the 40 route bus times on Google.

It may prove difficult, with catching the 09:28hr bus, it is early, I’ll need to pay the £2.30 fare. Too early to use the bus pass. Oh, dear, what do I do? I suppose I’ll have to get the 10:02hrs one. Which will mean waiting for ages to get seen, and another long, late day for me. Humph!
I got the health checks done.
I got the Sunday post finished and sent off to WordPress. The toe is still as lousy pain wise.
Making a start on this post, things with the fingers got even worse. It really is like getting an electric shock sometimes when the finger ends touch anything, and worse if I am pressing harder.

I went to make a brew. Got the shakes just as I was refilling the kettle – the result, the finger needed some antiseptic cream putting on it, to lessen the sensation from the scolding. I am now officially, fed-up, in constant pain, and missing the nurses so much! Haha! Surely things must get better soon, I thought.
I was wrong!

I found that I had made a right-cock-up with the blog. I’d made up the template for today’s post, and sent it off to WordPress in error for Sundays! So, I had to delete it, and start all over again, then send the proper one off. Today is proving to be a little fraught Putting it mildly, already!
The chronically painful self-imposed toe-stubbing, having a fall to the floor and getting back up again, the Bruised elbow – most worrying is the agony from the stubbed toe not easing off, though. Will I be able to get the shoes on, to go to the foot clinic? Double-Grumph! No, Treble-Grumph!
I checked the toe as the pain is just not easing off at all, and when it comes in contact with anything, it gets unbearable! The end of the toe was going black, I think.
If this prevents my getting to the foot clinic, then the toes nails will not get cut again, and I’ll suffer even longer… Oh, never mind, I’m sick of things going wrong and fed-up of me cavilling on and pettifogging about things. I’m just not lucky, that’s all.
I set about carefully doing the ablutions, though as quickly as I could, for fear of missing the bus, time was getting on, with all the delays, Whoopsiedangleplops and Accifauxpas to date today.
I got readied and set out with the three-wheeler guide. The toe was still extremely painful, so the progress was slow. But, I had set out with I hoped, plenty of time. I met Riechsführeress and Catwalk Model, Warden Deana, on Chestnut Way, and told her of my Accifauxpas to date. A little chinwag, and on to the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights, Hauptbereitschaftsleiteress Warden’s Temporary HQ. Sarcasm & Insult distribution area. Tenants Socialisationistical Meeting Shed. Telling Inchcock off Zone. Where things like crockery and pottery get stolen from, Rumourmongering Clinic, and somewhere to rest while waiting for the bus, Portakabin.
I handed some nibbles to Obersturmführeress Warden and Operatic Singer, Julie. And set off on my hobble to Winchester Street to catch the 40 bus to the clinic.
The cars and vans were parked in such a position that I had to go on the roadway to get by some of them. Note the dark car, with its rear wheels about two-foot from the edge of the pavement? As I went onto the road, a residents blackish
car zoomed around the bend and came close to clobbering me. I honestly don’t think the driver saw me at all! Grumph! My luck might be changing though, at least she missed me! Tsk!
I had to walk in the road again on Winchester Street. At least there was no traffic on the road this time.
I got to the bus shelter, with 6 minutes to spare before the number 40 bus was due. The driver kindly didn’t move until I was settled in one of the side-saddle seats. It seemed to take no time at all for the bus to get to the Robin Hood Chase bus stop I needed to alight at.
A made a bit of a hash of getting off of the bus with the three-wheeled-trolley doing its own thing, Haha!
I cross
ed the St Anns Well Road and began to walk to the Health Centre. When the ignorant imbecile of a pavement Cyclist, weaved his way through some pedestrians, and on to the road. How he missed the chap crossing the road was a miracle. Again, I don’t think the bozo even noticed the gentleman as he shot between the man as he went off of the pavement! Grrr!
I painfully made my way to the centre (The feet and toes!). I inquired of the young receptionists, where I would find the chiropodist room. I was informed it is now called podiatry, and told the way, which I followed. My heart sank when I saw the Age UK, Nottingham banner on the wall. I knew they could not do my toe cutting, last week when they phoned me and refused to treat me, because of the ‘Number of issues’ I have. I really thought this would be another company, but no.
They soon located my refusal-paperwork with notes of the Warfarin I’m on, And the replacement ticker, the Axonotmesis, and the Peripheral neuropathy amongst other ailments I suffer from, that prevent them from cutting my toenails! So, I knew there was no chance of any treatment today! There were three ladies, I assume one of them the podiatrist, the other two volunteers from Age UK? They were also so kind to me. And they got their heads together trying to find a way to help me out. I was offered a cup of tea, and they showed patience with me, my getting confused and the hearing problems as well as this mornings toe stubbing, and the scalding of my ane right index finger. The falling over on the floor. The elbow bashing. The Anne Gyna… etc. The lady who I assumed was the Chiropodist took a look at my feet and legs. After a while, two of the women went to call my Dr Vindla for me. They returned to tell me to go home and wait for the Doctor to either call me on the phone or visit me at home this afternoon.
Hope glimmered at me! I thanked them and apologised for getting things mixed up. One of the ladies walked me out of the premises.
I called in the nearby Co-op and got some peas, bread-thins and vinegar. Then walked, (well, limped gingerly), to the bus stop. While waiting, I tried to take a photo of another Pavement Cyclist shooting off of the footpath in front of traffic, this time. But a van came and blocked the view. If you look hard, you might see bits of the cyclist, in pictures 3 & 4. Haha!
I kept pressing the button and got these rather failed shots in.
Moments later, another mindless Nottinghamian Pavement Cyclist did the exact same thing, and with is arms folded!
I caught the bus and dropping (almost literally), off of the bus on Sherwood Rise. The near accident with the three-wheeled trolley bought the best out in the Nottinghamian people at the bus stop, as I slipped, but kept upright with the cart, while alighting the bus. One looked at me with
a sneer and a gone-out expression, one laughed, and the other one showed no interest at all.
I recovered, and now in more pain with the feet and toes, I slowly made my way across the road and down to Chestnut Way.
Taking this photographical gem as I hobbled as gently as I could manage down the hill.
The top of Winchester Street and all of Chestnut Way was snided-out with parked traffic.
Walking along Chestnut Way, I snapped these shots of the new and buildings. They are coming along well! Could be finished by November, they say.

Winchester Court

The New Winwood Court

Woodthorpe Court – at the back

Winwood Heights
Then pictured some wildflowers on the verge of the now accessible again, footpath. Not too bad, this new camera for taking flowers?
I got a call from one of the Stroke support team, Lucy, I think. She said she’d call the chemist at Carrington. She called me back to tell me that the medications would be delivered in about a week, in blister packs.
I got in and had a wee-wee, washed and got updating this blog. Did up to here, it was now 16:00hrs. Heard nothing from Dr Lona Vindla yet. Feeling very tired, now. Been up for twelve hours or more, now.
I did an amendment to the Morrison order, added some cheapo fabric softener and freshener-granules. Got the oven on to warm up ready for the chips later.
Got the vittles served up
. Chips, yellow tomatoes and some Polish pork loin (Sopocka) wholemeal bread thin sarnies, an apple, and a lemon mousse. Ate all of this prandicle up, with degust. A flavour-rating 0f 8/10 given to this feast.
Washed up, and got settled down in the ancient might be worth something to a collector (50p?), recliner.
I sid a few photos of the extremely painful stubbed toe.
Not a pretty sight. Obviously, the mission to get the toenails cut is still being thwarted by my having, ‘Too many issues’ for the chiropodists to cut my nails!
Sometimes, when agony dawns, and there is no sight nor hope of things improving, one can get terribly depressed. But, and however, this stage has not yet been reached by Inchcock… But it’s damned close! Hahaha!

I decided to leave the slept in socks on until later in the day, and set about hand-washing the extra-large, warm, long-sleeved shirt. I used the liquid soapflakes from Wilko and added some of their freshener granules. Hung it up over the sink to dry, as I usually do, with carefully placed pots to catch the drips falling from the hanger.
I then purposely took a photo from the new unwanted, light & view-blocking, thick-framed, with glass panes to clean that need a step-ladder and one that cannot be reached at all windows. To see if I could hold the camera steady enough. The answer was, No! I had to rest the Canon, as best I could on the impossible to clean and warped inside of the window frame to get a decent shot.
The sunshine was out, and the shadows forming as it came from behind. So, I took a picture from the new unwanted, light & view-blocking, thick-framed, with glass panes to clean that need a step-ladder and one that cannot be reached at all kitchen windows. While making yet another brew to replace the one that went cold while I was on the Porcelain Throne.
I returned to the front room and took a picture of the legs. Lumpy, blotchy and the sock-rings showing where I’d forgotten to take them off. The fluid retention looked a lot less, and for once, the legs seemed to be the same size. The paleness doesn’t show, cause this room is darker, I think. Unless it the new camera?
I got the ablutions tended to, with an interruption for a marathon wee-wee. Possibly as long as the one eight wee-wees ago. Hahaha! I enjoyed the shower etc. despite dropping the soap and fresh air spray.
I wrang out the bath towel out much as I could manage, and put it on the airer to dry, slowly of course, and it will need turning often, to make sure it all dries out properly.
Got the nosh for Josie served up; Tuna chunks, tomatoes and some glorious looking cheesy-potatoes. I took it to her door, but got no answer, oh dearie me, again!
Checked on my nosh (cheesy-potatoes) in the oven, and turned them down. Back to Josie’s, and she answered. Phew! Handed her the meal on the tray, and wished her happy eating. Then, back to the apartment and served up my dollop. And tucked into it. I didn’t make to big a nosh this time, and ate it all, along with a sourdough baguette, that I did leave some of.

A most delusive sound rang out from somewhere. A kind of vague, wailing noise with coughing sounds in the background? This happened twice in the space of thirty seconds. It was rather loud. I heard it easily enough, without any hearing aids in? But couldn’t locate the source of the worrying noise. Tsk! The plumbing, perhaps?
the dancing-fingers k
knees were not so gnarled either. But some new papsules in number were appearing again now. And one leg was a little larger than the other.
I limped along, with the pains and injuries from the ablution session still sore. Hehehe! Arrived at the shed, and turned to take this picture of Windwood Heights, without any lorries, vans or worked; it being a Saturday.
I tried to get a decent shot of some magpies in the shrubbery as I walked along the rubbish-strewn footpath.
Then another bird came down to join its mate on the floor. I patiently waited so long to get a good picture.
I just got the lens through the wire fencing to take this photo of the linking passageway between Woodthorpe Court and Winwood Courts. Not operational yet of course, but it looks good and airy, and will keep us old uns indoors in the rain?
.
It was from the NHS concerning Bowel Cancer Screening.
I got the nosh prepared and served up.

I consulted the scribbled notes about the dream. Oh, dear, much of it not readable. Tsk! However, for once, some memories did stay with me. I kept going to the hospital to have bits removed. It started with the odd finger and toe. Then an arm went. Then an eye. Then a testicle. Later both legs were amputated at the same time. I kept asking why, but I could not get an answer, other than you’ll have to ask your doctor. But this became impossible when they decapitated me. Then sent me home without the head. The last thing I recall was being in a wheelchair and trying to find a bus stop, wondering why they had not given me a new bonce. Hehehe!
I took off the dressing from yesterday’s blood taking, and immediately started scratching at the itching. Haha!
waste chute as the man and woman disappeared down in the lift, and I followed them down and outside, to take my empty sauce bottles to the recycling bin. Well, someone has to put some non-alcoholic glass in the bin. It looked like I was the only one who had. Hehehe!
An absolutely fine morning out there. I took a photo of Winwood and Winchester Courts on the way to the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights, Hauptbereitschaftsleiteress and catwalk Warden’s Temporary HQ. Sarcasm & Insult distribution area. Tenants Socialisationistical Meeting Shed. Telling Inchcock off Zone. Where things like crockery and pottery get stolen from, Rumourmongering Clinic, and somewhere to rest while waiting for the bus, Portakabin.
Where I enjoyed a chinwag with Obersturmführeress Warden Deana, and Sturmbannführeress Warden Julie, Angela, Doreen, Mary, Christine, Roy and Malcolm for a bit while we waited for the bus. I handed out all of the nibbles I had with me, bar two. I was content like I haven’t been for months.
my way to Jessops camera store on Clumber Street.
camera o
go! At least the new camera is the same size as the Lumix, and a great deal weightier, so that might be a good thing… or not?
home was due at the top of Queen Street.
A last zoomed-in shot across the Council House towards Exchange Walk that didn’t come out half-bad, as it happens. It shows one of the famous Nottingham City Council House stone lions
I got in the apartment, and the wee-wees started. Amazingly none bothered me while I was out in town? Amazing!
charger to be boosted?
Got the oven on to do some chips for the nosh.

Ablutionisationing time arrived. Closed the computer and off to the wet room.
followed by “Well Fancy that!”
The bigger trolley is more comfortable to control downhill but too big really for use on the buses; I’ll find out on the way home later.

that appeared to be growing on some nettles? I’ll ask Caroline next week to see if she knows their name.
took the blood. It was so lovely after such a long time seeing her again. Gave her some chocolates I’d brought, just in case I saw her. (Proof, that the EQ works?) Thanked her and handed the receptionists some nibbles on the way out.
A far less painful than I expected hobble back to Sherwood was enjoyed.
I made my way up to the L9 bus stop at the top of Mansfield Road. A sad sight of another closed down business was straight opposite the shelter where I took a seat on the trolley for the first time. Putting in the breaks first!
bother me! (Lie Mode Engaged!)
I took a last shot of Sherwood before getting on, and the four-wheeled-guide proved to be too large for me to sit without blocking someone’s passage. I’ll try to use the three-wheeler on buses in the future.
he does. Bless her. Hehe!
have explained that very well, sorry.
of the stepladder to get to, the thick-framed light & view-blocking frames.
I hope to try some of the Boczek Nordic Style bacon for tomorrow’s nosh. Or maybe not, I’ve some roast pork slices with a far shorter use-by date yet to use.

The evacuation was no more bothersome than the last, perhaps a little easier indeed. But, as I standing-up, the right leg went into one of its Hokey-Cokey jumping sessions. While this caused no physical injuries whatsoever; I did manage to knock just about everything off of one of the floor cabinet. Toilet rolls (One of which plopped straight into the WC!), a jar of Cetraben, a tube of Savlon cream, a fresh air spray, a kitchen towel and a pack off PP’s. There was probably more stuff. Picking it up, I got myself more and more wound up! Gruffunbotherations!
Accifauxpa with the dancing leg get to me.
Got the computer going, and checked that I had put the dentist appointment on the calendar.
I thanked him and soon had the fridge and freezer fully restocked with various delights to meet my coenaculous nature and phagomania. I even bought a sweet & sour ready-made meal amongst the picking, and the treat of the month, or longer, some Boczek cooked bacon!
I was going to get the chestnut mushrooms in the crock-pot.
The thing slipped from my limited grasp as I took it to the black bag bin. I gladly photographed it, picked it up, and got it in the bag. I went and got the other one, washed it, and set it up. Sliced the somewhat jaded looking mushrooms that Morrison had just delivered, and got them in the new cooker. With distilled vinegar and basil, on a low setting.
Sister Jane rang about the Evening Post printing about Winwood Heights. I see they choose not to show it in its usual disorganised, no available
I took some bags down to the mobile phonist’s… I mean, caretaker’s door. Got the oven on for some sausages, and plan to have them with a blue egg and baked beans? In the end, I had a tin of vegetable sausages and beans with the mushrooms and a blue egg. Overall, a taste rating of 7.5/10. The blue eggs were a little bland tasting,
Got up for one of the SSWWs. The bucket was now again, half-full already!

I took the belated evening medications. I am a right clot of the highest order!

I still cannot hold the camera steady enough for me to take a panorama photograph I’m afraid.
I then got the socks, and jumper hand-washed in the kitchen sink bowl, and hung up to dry before moving the shirt to an airer later. If I get the time, what with Caroline’s visit and the Dentist to be visited today.
The BP results were better, I think so at least. The Sys was down to 139, the Dia 72, the pulse at 82, and the temperature read 35.8°c – which is a little higher than average, but it has been low for a while, so another good reading, methinks?
beyond me. I know that the last week’s INR reading came back as being high. I rechecked the resulting form, to find that it was actually low, at 2.2! Yet I firmly believed it to be the other way? It is likely that having a Stroke, can change you from an everyday schmuck, bozo and an idiot, into a higher-class twit… such as a halfwit, cretin, imbecile, lamebrained-clodpole, as well! Huh!
We decided to have a walk up to Mapperley Top with the trolley, and get some Sourdough Baguettes from Aldi. And I am now so glad we did, for it was like a holiday for me.
lose the wonderful helpers from the Stroke Team. (Sob!) Chestnut Way, looked a dangerous, almost a life-threatening no footpath, busy with road-works, to have to walk along the roadway. This was because it is a dangerous, almost a life-threatening no footpath, busy with road-works way to have to walk along the roadway.
Caroline and I began the walk back to the flats. As we turned down Mapperley Rise, I got Caroline to pose showing the eggs for me.
On the Cow Parsley (I had to ask Caroline for the name again, Tsk!) on the left, where new flats are to be built, had a Ladybird that I really wanted to try and take a good photo of.
I caught the bus down the hill. Had a natter with some residents on the way.
There was a good while until the bus was due back. I hobbled down to the Co-op store and had a wander around. I came out with some sweet peas and cooked beef slices. Made a cock-up at the checkout, and selecting the cooked beef. Farcical really. The stick was the problem, whenever possible when going out, I will take the trolley-walker with me, but it was impossible today.
With the time lost, I had to move a bit faster than was comfortable, and awkward with the stick up the road, to the bus stop!
I got up to the bus shelter. Where I realised I need not have rushed after all – the bus was not due for another ten-minutes yet.
apartment as the shakes eased off. Got the bits put away, and added the next dentist appointment to the Google Calendar.
Cox’s apple. A pot of mandarins in jelly added onto the tray.

eas that might help. I’m a bit nervous in case the foot and ankle give way and goes over, and breaks any bones. That would not be good at all. I think Caroline is due tomorrow, I’ll check the Goog
I got carried away and decided to do some hand-washing again. Or should I, I thought to myself? Being a dippydro, and indecisive-ponderer, after much ado and much shilly-shallying, uncertainty and scrupling, I decided I would do the washing after-all.
I did sit there a while, just in case. While I waited in vain for some activity, I did notice how the pins (legs), and one was fatter than the other, both were the new standard for me pale and anaemic. Also, they had accrued some more papsules, spots and growths to go with the scar from yesterday’s battle I lost with the sock-glide when the shakes started at an inopportune moment, just as I was about to put my foot in the glide. Had it been a few seconds earlier or later, I may not have got the wound at all. Hey-Ho!
It was Physio Lucy who arrived around 10:15hrs. A quickie today. Exercises done, that all seemed to go well, to me.
An hour or so later, from roughly the same area, but taken from a wider angle.
The chips I added to the oven was soon soaked in fat, and uneatable really, so they got thrown away.
off. I woke a few hours later, an when I burst awake, I was confused as to just what time it was.

it was blowing a good bit out there Brr!
stroke, I can’t believe how weak I am now.
The rain came down, and it took my spirits with it a little.
. And watched the rain falling for a while.

. A heavy shirt and a pair of bamboo socks. Oh, and the Ankle-Strappings.
So I carried on with the hand-washing, and did my best to wring them out and got them on the slow-airer flatbed, and hung some up.
