Early Nottingham Pavement Cyclist on their Penny-farthing bikes
Friday 11th August 2017
Lithuanian: 2017 m. Rugpjūčio 11 d
0300hrs: Woke up trying to recall the dreams without any luck again.
Noticed the rather large pile of paperwork that needs attention, and went into a depression, albeit a short one, for the call to the Porcelain Throne arrived that needed responding to. Out of the £300 second-hand recliner, had a visit from Dizzy Dennis as I did so, and off to the wet room.
All right in this session, very good. No pains, bleeding or troublesome evacuation.
Made a brew, carried out the Health Checks and took the medications.
Sys 148-Dia 75-Pulse 86-Temp 32.4. And the weight 14.88, good one methinks, apart from the weight. Huh!
The computer on and did this diary up to here. I then tried to respond to the Nottingham City Council Electoral Register Officer’s letter regarding eligibility to vote.

Well, that went well. Even did a survey at the end of completing the ‘No Change’ demanded by law, options.
Later, I hope to see someone to help me with contacting the 3 company, either Warden Obergefreiteress Julie or Wardeness Obergruppenfurheress Deana, to ring them for me again! It’s been four months and four payment demands from them in a row from them since I changed banks. Despite being told I want to end the contract, they still command amounts of their money.
I wanted to see Dean yesterday, but no Wardens were on duty. Just the Nottingham City Homes woman, who scripts the sarcastic notices on the wallboards was there.
Went off to make another cuppa. And tried another panorama shot, by hanging out of the kitchen window down to the scene below. (0615hrs). It didn’t come out anything like I thought it would, missed off a lot of the horizontal area. Guess I’m doing this wrong?

I then set about finishing yesterday’s diary.
Did some WordPress reading.
No time left for frivolities. Must get the ablutions done so I can try to get to see Obergruppenfureress Deana and ask her to help me with the erroneous phone bill confusion. If she is in, that is.
Ablutioning was done haste this morning.
Got the bag with Reich Marshall Wardens nibbles and down the lift and to the Temporary Winwood Obergruppenfurheresses Community Shed. (What a mouthful, Hehe!)
Poddled to the hut
in the beautiful weather to find it empty.
One of the building personnel came in, wished me a good morning and made himself a mug of coffee and settled with his feet up.
I walked back to the flat’s foyer and had a go at some crosswords, to kill time until I returned in search of a Gruppenfurheress. 20 minutes or so later, I ventured out again to the shed.
Obergruppenfurheress Deana was in and assisting another tenant with something.
I took a wander around while I waited patiently and found these new posters on the wall board.
The construction company had supplied updates on the works progress for us to look at.
Kind of them that I thought?
Deana became free and explained before I spoke, that she was swamped and would not have time to do any phoning about and would I like to make a time and date to come and see her again later?
I asked her if he would just take a look at the letter from the ‘3’ telephone company for me to clarify what I needed to do now. She kindly did so. It turns out that they had cancelled the contract at last, and sent me a cheque for £21.54. I thanked her and gave her the nibbles.
Made my way to the bus stop, in the warm sunshine.
As I walked along the roadway, (walking along the road was the only option at this end of Chestnut Walk, due to the vehicles parked on the grass verge.) I walked between the cars and under some huge bushes to take this photographicalisation.
Towering over me high up above, the blackberries that had not been got at yet.
As I took the shot, it reminded me of last year, when I saw a family group climb out of their people carrier and get the ladder off of the roof-rack and use it to get at the fruits above. Hehe!
To the bus stop and around a dozen residents were in the queue. Had a little chinwag with those I knew and the bus soon arrived. It was the friendly female driver this time, always ready with a laugh and witty comment she is.
They all got off in Sherwood, leaving Mary from the 6th floor and me to have a natter as we carried on to Arnold.
I went into Asda and had a peruse around. Ended up at the elf-serve checkout with Beef pastie, Purple chips (x2) No idea why I bought two of these cause there’ll not be room in the freezer. Clot!), Orange lollies, minced beef, onion bhajis, yellow pepper, Marmite cashew nuts, Lemon desserts and a lamb stew ready meal.
Wandered down to the Iceland Store for a nosey around.

Sad to see so many more retailers had gone out of business. A good while until the bus home was due, so I took my time and ended up buying just one pack of potato chunks with cheese inside, and cooked chicken portions that were guaranteed free range. More to struggle to get into the freezer! Humph!
Made my way back to the bus stop on Front Street. Stood there for ten minutes looking around to see if Mary was coming my way to get the same bus. Then I caught sight of her at the bus stop up the road and realised; Oh dear, I was at the wrong bus stop!
I walked up and joined her, and we had a nattering session. I showed her the purple chips, and she mentioned that she had forgotten to get some chips. So I gave her a bag of them. She did not want to accept them, but after my explaining about me foolishness in buying them and the lack of room in the freezer, she took them, bless her.
On the bus and as it got to Bestwood, part of the ‘Diversion Route’ due to the roadworks, we came to a halt.
With the traffic backed up about a mile from the traffic lights!
The driver gal shot the bus right into the housing estate around the back and came out at the traffic lights and was let in straight away by a driver, and we were third in line at the lights! Brilliant! We all gave her a round of applause!
Back at the flats and walking to the Woodthorpe block, I had a funny turn, Dizzy Dennis, again. I was with May and Mary and tried to pretend to stop to look at the work taking place. May (Left in the picture below) picked up on this and asked if I was alright, bless her cotton socks.
The entrance door mechanicals or electrics were playing up again and only opening a few inches.
The girls who arrived at the door well ahead of me forced it open and held it ajar for me to get through.
Times like this I am glad and grateful to be alive when people show such compassion and care for others. I thanked the, profusely.
I’m not sure if the gal is named May but think it might be her name, I forget you know. Hehe!
Back in the apartment and onto the Porcelain Throne. Phew!
Good job I gave Mary the purple chips, cause as I suspected, there was very little room in the freezer, I could only get the potato with cheese bag into it! And that, after grappling with a rearranging session.
So, I had to eat nearly all of the bag of purple chips with the meal. I threw some away.
Have to give this meal a rating of 9.4/10, it went down very well indeed. Possibly the best one in weeks, now.
Health Checks and medications tended to and sorted.
Did the washing up and settled to watch a Law & Order episode. Fell asleep at the first set of advertisements and woke up hours and hours later in desperate need of the Porcelain Throne. All good, though, no bleeding from anywhere.
Made a brew and pondered on wether or not I should try to get the mounting stack of paperwork in need of attention sorted… fell asleep again!
What a dream I had too! I wish I could remember more of it. I was young again and this time around (in the dream of course) I got things right. It seemed I could do no wrong, then thought I’d woke up but I hadn’t, and sent myself back into the passed again, and all was not right this time… but how it actually was? I woke up in reality all confused! Tsk!

I saw that the notice board had been cleaned up somewhat.
proving that the rain had stopped at last. Hehe! And, there were two free car parking spaces available.
not remove any materials from the ceilings in this area’ signs from the builders had appeared.
As I got out of the elevator, into the barren sparse looking communal area, I decided to have a good look at the roof to see if I could see anything that might be worth removing by anyone.
Surely the emulsion painted old pipework was not being swiped? Would we have known about that?
0610hrs: Flatulent Frank is still with me, and seems to be getting a bit more volatile as time passes.
left early to go into Sherwood to use the £1 off voucher at the Co-op store.
Hobbled down into Sherwood and went to the Polish Food Shop. Got a loaf of the Lithuanian recipe Sweet Sourdough sliced brown bread. Walked up the hill and to the Co-op. Where I got some raffle prizes, kitchen towels on offer, apples and bananas. Used the £1 off voucher.
Smoked mackerel, tomatoes with balsamic vinegar, mushrooms, onion bhaji and a slice or two of the sweet sourdough bread, followed by a plain yoghourt with Maple Syrup added to it.
Back in the recliner. Notwithstanding the mind rattling away about all and nothing, I drifted off and seemed to wake a few seconds later. I’d had a dream, something about me being underground in the tunnel with a torch and water was slowly filling up the channel, then it gushed in, and I was drowned, but happy about it?
Nipped out on the balcony while the rain had relented a bit, and took this photographicalisation. A free unused car parking space was spotted down below.
I just hope the rain is not too bad, but it looks set in at the moment. Tsk!
Ablutions tended to, I changed into the togs and made sure the brolly and cap were in the bag.
As I wandered along, the rain stopped.
much later to the flat to transfer all the pictures to the computer, this one was not on the SHD card?
As I limped along, whistling to myself and perusing the scenery over the tennis courts, what did I see?
fencing along the road? Fly tipping they call it.
Seconds later, this Nottingham Pavement Cyclist (Git!) nearly had me over then. Tsk!
In the next few hundred yards or so, I got two shots of Nottingham Nurture, and both animals posed and gave me time to take the photographicalisations of them.
No dizzies at all yet, doing well.
Hucknall Road, and called in the GUM Clinic.
Well, that went well and speedily. The Obergruppenfurher receptionist was not in sight when I departed, just as well perhaps.
Thanked her and gave her a bag of nibbles to share with the other girls, and out to see if I would be lucky again and catch a 40 bus just nearby to the clinic.
As I walked down towards Hucknall Road to catch another bus, I kept hearing a right loud double clanging noise?
Even the bus came within seconds of my arriving at the stop? Worrying innit, all this good luck?
And took a picture of the beach and fountains. The rain had kept off, and a few people had ventured onto the beach.
were apparently quite happy to get soaked. Hehe!
Into the room explained things and he had cleaned the hearing aid and given me another thingamajig to take home with me within ten minutes. Thanked him and poddled out of the store, only to have to dodge another Nottingham Pavement Cyclist.
Humph.
enjoyed the hobble around, and the rain still kept off!
Got on the bus at the same time as Horace and his Carer.
recall musing over a dream I’d been having and must have scribbled this note, I found later.
Somehow, I remembered to clean the hearing aids after forgetting to do so every day since I had them. Unfortunately, I could not find the brush and screwdriver things needed to do these aids. Plenty to hand, that would do the old type ones, though. Humph!
Checks instead. Sys 159, Dia 73, Pulse 84, Temp 33.8, Weight 14.89 (Ahem!)
The looking very wet Morrison delivery chap arrived with the fodder. He carried into the kitchen for me, nice that.
Took out the veg to use today and got the rest into the fridge drawer. The carrots and swedes I bought already diced.
and yellow peppers and got them into the Crock-Pot, adding just a little water. Added a jar of cheap black bean sauce and put some mini tomatoes in and sprinkled some of the Polish mixed seasonings into the mix and stirred it all well.
Finding it hard work doing the blog now, after a visit or two from Craig Cramps. But still, it could always be worse.
Moments later a Police Officer arrived with his wet umbrella. He tried the intercom but obviously whoever he wanted was not in and he poddle off shortly.
I started this one off, the Porcelain Throne had to be attended!
When I had washed and made another brew, my next door neighbour Stew arrived with his grandkids in tow. He had a bit of bother finding them when two disappeared out of doors, he cunningly put the other two inside and went to retrieve the remainder from outside in the rain. I think they keep him feeling young, you know.
Had a go on Facebook next. Then onto WordPress reading.
Computer turned off and concentrated on trying to get the meal right.
Out of the £300 second-hand recliner and into wet-room to utilise the Porcelain Throne. Which went extremely well. No bleeding now, from Little Inchy or Haemorrhoid Harold at all. Although, I had to smile when the toilet block I added to the cistern yesterday, bubbled right up to the rim when I pressed the flush lever. It was still present after I’d nipped and got the camera to take this shot. I think I might have put two blocks in by mistake? Hehe!
Made a strong mug of Yorkshire Tea, did the Health Checks and took the medications as I started the computer.
Took a break and popped out on the balcony to take these shots.
Mentioning nightmare reminded me to have a look at the dream notes on the pad.
The City Centre was a mass of traffic. So many works were taking place everywhere.
Traffic lights out at the corner of Milton Street and Upper Parliament Street with temporary lights, for sewerage work. With no stop/go lights for pedestrians. (Fair enough, the Nottingham populace ignore them anyway).
works, showing the new buses. Click this link to see the mess:
To the City Centre and the beach entertainments, the atmosphere was one of tension and discontentment.
Walked through and down Exchange Walk to St John’s Church.
I hobbled on down and through to the Broad Marsh Car Park (As was, it is closed now, creating more traffic problems) and along Carrington Street to the Canal.
Feeling a bit depressed myself now, I hobbled back to the Slab Square.
Huh!)
bit of it, and I do miss my now barred Brassica.
mostly seriously stern-faced Nottingham citizenry en route. Made my way to the bus stop on Queen Street. Where this young lady on her mobility scooter on her mobile phone, came out of the Post Office and down Queen Street, actually hitting my shopping bag as concentrated on her conversation, bless her!
Took this photo at the top of the street while waiting for the bus.
There were new temporary lights on the route back to the flats on a housing estate in Mapperley. Tsk!
Back at the Winwood Flats, the weather was all right still, and again I was last in the race back to the apartments.
The meal, an easy one to prepare, and at last, it turned out a decent one.
0600hrs: Woke to find the TV remote still laying on my generously padded with flesh stomach, and arose from the £300 second-hand recliner in need of the Porcelain Throne. The right arm seemed to have gained a different texture during the night? Hehe!
Another good start to the day here. The only ailments bothering me were Hippy Hilda and Arthur Itis. Even Haemorrhoid Harold and Little Inchy were both free of blood. The three little stab wounds in the left hand
1200hrs: Got the black bean sauce in the saucepan and added onions, peppers, garden peas and mushrooms. Warmed it through and got the Quorn minced beef added, and stood over it stirring it often.
It looked good, smelt good and tasted utterly repulsive, disgusting and awful!
Washed up the pots and things, and getting into the jammies, I thought it might be a good idea to pop into the spare room to fetch some bleach stored in there, and scrape my chin on the storage box edge. Fall forwards and grab the nearest thing to stop the fall onto the brolly I’d left open to dry the other day and got entangled in it. Thus, ending its short but useful life. Hahaha! Luckily it was the cheap Pound Shop one.
self out of the £300 second-hand recliner, and nearly toppling over, such was the pain from the right knee and hip as I stood up. Straight to the medical drawer took a 60g Codeine, then the rest of the morning medications, with a brew of tea in the new little cup.
visitations from either Shaking Shaun or Dizzy Dennis! Only Arthur Itis and Hippy Hilda any bother, and they had calmed down since I got up. Excellent start I thought.
Down and got the laundry in the washing machine and nipped outside to have a nosey.
As I went to get the lift back to the 12th floors, this little mite was there on the builder’s carpet protector strips.
Once back home, I had another wee-wee and gathered all the pieces of the stand I’d bought to give to the Nottingham Hospice, another go at erecting it.

Down a final trip to retrieve the washing from the dryer.
Which, as you can see here, the scraper acquired a brown tinge that is unremovable. This might be a clue to someone more cleverer than I am, as to from where the marks came from and what they consisted of? Something potent and corrosive, judging by how quickly they turned the razor blade into rust?
donated and would sell in moments, last week when I chatted with her.
enable it to. Hehe!
Full of pep with my little victories, I set about finishing the kitchen cleaning. Cleaned the counters, shelving, drawers, cooker sink cabinets, hoovered and mopped the floor.
En route, I noticed some food stalls getting ready for customers near the Mansfield Road entrance.
Top of hill on the footpath and right down to the apartments, and as I descended the gravel path, 93-year-old Polish Eddie was walking up it. I don’t know how he gets about so much, often and without any seeming effort, he can walk faster than I do. A grand chap too. Had a little natter with him as we passed each other.
At the bottom of the path near the car parking on Chestnut Walk as I crossed over to get to the foyer doors, this little squirrel kindly froze and gave me time to get closer and the camera out again.
Feeling a bit drained now, but still smug with myself.
Raining now, glad I went out when I did and not leave it until later on.
Got the mini-cup of tea brewed did the Health Checks and took the medications. All were looking good to me. Well, temperature a little high, but that is how it has been for a few days now.
I got the cramps in the left arthritic hand and fingers as I started typing.

0500hrs: Out of the £300 second-hand recliner and off to the Porcelain Throne. Much internal bleeding from Haemorrhoid Harold this morning, a lot of cleaning up and medicating needed and done.
Made a brew, did the Health Checks and took the medications.
Started to do this diary and it dawned on me that it might be an idea to get the vegetables ready for cooking later, for when I tackle making the Beef in Black bean sauce meal.
Off I went to make another brew, and the sky looked a bit threatening but beautiful at the same time.
Did the ablutionisationing, dressed and set off to the Temporary Winwood Social Shed for the chinwagging session.
Had a few good nattering sessions, all the same. Handed in the raffle prizes and gave out the nibbles. Said my farewells and went to the bus stop.
down the hill, where I dropped off and got the brolly out, and wobbled down to the Polish Food Shop.
Sourdough bread. Never come across this before, just hope I like it?
Roy took one of my bags to carry on the top of his four-wheeled trolly for me, and I got the brolly over us both in return?
I got into the apartment, and the Porcelain Throne was facilitated.
Nosh sorted. A bit of a job getting it all sorted, but it tasted lovely. Onion Bhaji’s, black bean sauce (from a jar), diced swede, diced carrots, red peppers, red onions, tomatoes, one little sole lonely potato (Haha!), fresh garden peas and shredded beetroot (from a jar). Followed with an apple and lemon-curd yoghourt.
As darkness descended I pondered, now the rain had stopped, to clean the pots and having a go at the tar marks on the outside of the kitchen window!
Off to the Porcelain Throne. No adscititious ailments, only Haemorrhoid Harold bleeding a lot.
The sky outside did not over encourage me on the coming weather.
Off to get the ablutions and medicationalisationing done.
Onto Mansfield Road up the hill and observed that the Restuarant Car Park sign had been tended to by ‘Nottingham Street Artists Blolblets’, again.
Unfortunately, he turned left as I took the picture. Humph!
got to the Surgery with plenty of time to spare.
Limped along into Carrington.
I crossed over the road and into Carrington proper.
Further along, near the Co-op store, a Nottingham Street Artist had been at it again, decorating new benches with an empty can, bottle and prettily spread sick underneath it, in a heart shaped design.
As I moved on to be insulted and cheated at the Lidl Store; Yet another Nottingham Pavement Cyclist had a go at me!
The rain started to come heavily, as I got in the concentration camp… sorry, I mean Lidl’s. I noticed that all four check-outs were abandoned and only the end bit with the self-serve tills was in use.
To the bus stop and caught one to Sherwood. I long wait for the L9 bus, just as well because I remembered to go to Wilko and search for a razor scraper. Came out of there spent up as well, having got; A measuring jug, Dettol disinfectant, Citrus deodorant, Cooking foil, black refuse sacks, toilet cleaner blocks, kettle descaler, fragrance booster, foil trays and…. Yes! I did it, I got a Glass razor scraper!
Had a chinwag with 93-year-old tenant Polish Eddy at the bus stop.
he TFZers and Facebook friends.
The meal took a lot of preparation tonight, but it was worth all the effort.
