Tue 28 July 2015: Inchcock Today: Carpet man calling…

Tuesday 28th July 2015

DSCF0181

00320hrs: Sprang awake, to the tune of the fridge freezer clunking and whining away. First thought, the ulcer still bothersome.

One hell of a draught coming out through the cupboards and drawers near the whole in the wall.

Started the laptop and to the WC – in a bit of a pickle with the hemorrhoids and Little Inch both bleeding. Managed to stop Little Inch eventually and a full kitchen roll later.

Cleared me bedding away and made a cuppa.

Took me medication a bit early, extra painkiller and extra gulp of the not very effective but better than nothing Peptac. I take that usually to help keep down the pressure on the sticking reflux valve. Must add this to me list of thing to tell Dr Vindla about on Friday.

CaptureThe list of things to do this week has now grown a bit now.

Started this diary off as I shivered in the draughts belting into the kitchen through the hole in the wall directly and via the cupboards drawers and up me trouser legs.

Brrr!!!

Did some Facebooking while I had the chance.

Dean Walker, Co-ordinator arrived at the door and checked me cancer scar for me – it was dry so no problems.

Said to call her when the carpet man gave me a price.

When the chap arrived he said he could not give me a price, the measurements he’s taking had to be given to the man at the shop to work it out and he’d call me back with it?

DSCF0183Emailed Deana to inform her.

Took a photo from the balcony to make sure the camera was still working after I dropped it taking out the card.

Tsk again!

Got me nosh in the oven cooking and did some graphicalisationing.

LynBeet02ajThis one I was pleased with.

Then I got the laundry ready, me crossword book, pen, mobile and the letters that had been delivered for the last tenant and got me nosh out – had to put the trays in the sink to soak.

It was a rather decent effort as noshes go, roast potatoes, beetroot, roast parsnips, two crispy battered fish portions (Morrison’s 4 for 99p value range – excellent batter!) and some wholemeal soft bread thins.

DSCF0184Bit of tomato sauce – (Tesco value, but still weren’t bad).

Poddled down to the laundry room.

Got the laundry in the machine and sat in the lobby trying to do me crosswords.

Met a few folk and had a chin-wag with some of them.

Got the washing into the drier, had to use the end one as someone had left their washing in the other one.

DSCF0185Decided to risk going out in the winds up to the Woodthorpe Park in an effort to get some photographs of the floral and or wildlife.

The first one is of some fungi of some sort or other on the hill going up to the footpath at the top.

I met a chap with an old wolf like looking dog and he was kind enough to let me pet it for a minute or so.

I wish now I’d asked him if I could have taken a photo of the dog.

Walked across the top and back down through a rough bit of the woods that was unkempt and natural looking.

DSCF0186Once again I spotted a squirrel but was too slow focussing on him/her and took a squirrel-less photo again, just like yesterday! They’re quick the squirrels around here!

Hey-ho…

Walked along the path and as I was walking down towards the flats I espied an insect, wasp like in colouring on a DSCF0187flower. I moved in with camera close and the insect was busy getting at something on the little flower and didn’t budge as I took the photo. Not a good one is it? Not good enough to send to the Flora and Animal page – shame!

Got back to the laundry room and found that the drier had not dried the clothes, cause I had not realised the last person had set it on delicate setting. So I had to go back up to the flat and get some more 20 p’s and return to dry them all over again on cotton setting. At least it gave the lady waiting a good laugh! Hehe!

Deana came into the flats and along with two other residents we had a little laugh and gossip.

I’d spent over two hours plus by the time the togs were dried.

Up to the flat and WC visit, put togs away, made cuppa and took me medications.

Found a missed call on me mobile so rang it back, but no answer.

Did me Morrison order – coming in the morning twixt 07 00 > 0800 hrs.

So tired now.

The smoke and fire alarm maintenance people are due tomorrow, and I have to remember to phone the cancer place to tell them about the wound being all okay like.

Got me bedding on the floor – the wind blowing in through hoes in the wall, I settled and accepted the Clunk, whir shudder, rattle clunk bang of the fridge-freezer, read a bit of me book and then nodded off, mind racing!

Mon 20 July 2015: Inchcock Today – Fast getting nowhere…

IMG_0067

View from Woodthorpe Court this morning

01topa2Monday 20th July 2015

Decent kip in again – but after remembering so much of the night before’s dreams as wot I did like – I was disappointed in not remembering much of last nights.

Just bits about being in a sewer running?

Up at 0600hrs, late for me.

Kettle on and I had a look at me other camera to see if I could master its workings again, but gave up and had a wash and shave and tended to the porcelain duties.

Arthritis seems a lot easier in the legs and hands, Anne Gyna being fair with me, Little Inch had been bleeding a bit, ulcer okay, hernia not bad at all, reflux valve as usual a bit bothersome, bruising on me wrist getting much easier now, the mechanical ticker valve seems to be clicking away alright and the skin cancer wound continues to itch madly then when I scratch at it (Yes, I know I shouldn’t but its so hard not to) it hurts, It feels like there are ants in there somewhere trying to get out. Tsk!

Laptop on a cuppa and took me morning medications.

Finished off yesterdays diary and got it posted.

Not very warm again this morning – I hope they come to sort out the hole in the wall soon. Doc say’s I must try to avoid getting colds or flu and this ain’t helping. I’ve told the woman in charge here at the flats like – but I may as well have told the daisies outside for all the effect it had. (In fact I think I did the other day).

Did some Facebooking.

DSC00005 DSC00006

Tried to clean the storage heater – but it DSC00004was pretty pointless. Found a tablet and a penny stuck to the floor underneath it. When I tried to clean the surfaces (Nothing I tried would remove the stains from the sides of it) most of the markings were rust. About wore me poor self out on me knees trying to get it nice. Huh!

When I took the photo’s here of the heater, the finds and a view from the window above – using me other camera – but I really don’t know what I’m doing with it, so many options and messages on the screen I was baffled I say… Baffled!

Awaiting the repair people to do the kitchen now, made a cuppa again.

Got the shredder going and sorted the paperwork. Another job done – but so many to do.

Took me midday medications.

Had another go at the other camera – got in more of a pickle with it now.

1232hrs: Still no sign of the maintenance men – Nottingham City homes sent me a text message telling me they would be here this morning.

I wanted to go to the bank and tell them about me statement still being sent to the old house. Might not be time if the workmen don’t arrive soon. Tsk and Huh!

I was cleaning the sink and had a terrible thought when I espied some more of Paul the painters paint splashes on a cupboard and the taps – I hope I live long enough to find and remove them all?

Spotted what I thought was a mark on the side of the fridge – it tuned out that the Curry’s men (The one’s who left all the broken packing foam outside the door and near the lifts) had left some of the shrink wrap on it – helluva job to get it off.

I want to go and see Deana at the shed to take more of Margaret’s mail that’s just been delivered along with another bill for me – Water rates £187.47 fancy that. Also I wanted to go and get rid of me rubbish down the chute – but until the City-Homes-Chappies have been I dare not move in case I miss em.

1340hrs: The City Homes man arrived and did the cupboard, shelf and drawer.

He looked at the kitchen window and condemned it. Kaput!

Got missen ready to take letters to the Community shed and catch the last bus into town.

The shed was locked-up.

IMG_0069Caught the bus into town.

I got off in the rain near the Poundland shop and was nearly hit by one of the dozens of Pavement Cyclist inhabiting the town centre. Cycling with one hand on the pedestrian right of way and using hi mobile phone – I did shout something insulting and of a retributional nature at him but he just ignored me.

I nipped into the shop and got some oven tin liners, a loaf of bread and a fresh air spray.

IMG_0070

The smoke is coming from the Jamaican Caribbean take away food stall

Then I wandered into the City Centre as the rain lessened a bit, crossed over the square and down into Exchange Walk, where I waited patiently to see an advisor. Nearly fell asleep waiting.

Got to see one and explained about me statement going to the old house although I changed me address with them last Monday. Seems it takes a few days to go through?

To the counter and got some 20p’s for the laundry.

IMG_0071Hobbled down to Sr Peters church, which looked lovely as a break in the rain made it look different somehow?

Went right and to the eNottingham City Transport ticket place and found a time-table for the 40 and 42 buses that run on Winchester Street.

Walked around a bit nd slipped some seeds to the pigeons – still a high number of thoughtless moronic pedestrian cyclists all over the place.

IMG_0072Went to catch the 40 bus, nd as it set off and down Upper Parliament Street it stopped at some pelican lights and I noticed that the Cash-shop come pawnbrokers come Money lenders shop was really busy – or maybe it was being robbed?

Hehe!

IMG_0073The rain came a bit heavier then.

By the time we had reached Winchester Street, going down the hill this time, I got off at the right bus-stop (Amazing I know!), and crossed the road and walked down to the flats.

The drizzle began again en-route.

IMG_0074As I got between the two blocks I walked under some chestnut trees and stopped when I saw a squirrel nibbling some of the newly dropped nuts.

Pressed on and into the flats.

Felt tired but hungry so WC’d nd put some roast potatoes in the oven with a few chips and added some frank’s for IMG_0075the last few minutes.

Very tasty indeed. Rated this 8.4/10.

Whoopsiedangleplop!

Then when washing the dishes afterwards I managed to drop one as I was scrubbing it, which covered me in water and bounced off me right foot big to, hit me knee and made one helluva mess on the floor.

I just said ‘Hey-ho’ and cleaned it up like. FibMode

Got the laptop on to finish this off.

Tired again now… going to get me head down.

TTFN.

Sat 18 July 2015: Inchcock Today – Huh!

Saturday 18th July 2015

0601

Went to kip late last night and soon nodded off into a deep sleep for two hours – after that I was waking every half hour it seemed, filled with dread and apprehension in response to dreams?

I can’t recall a lot about them just bits here and there. Being chased again, underwater and helping a surgeon remove me fingers who kept squirting WD40 onto them?

Bolt awake late around 0640hrs. WC’d and found the fresh cream cakes I’d had delivered with last nights Tesco visit lying on the heater in the hall – Huh!

Made a cuppa titivated the kitchen and returned to the WC. Mmm?

Laptop on and got yesterdays diary done and posted. Much stuff to respond to on Facebook. So I went on there for a good while then started a post for the LOMM site.

Despite the sunshine it’s cold this morning. I’m not opening the window, I can see the trees swaying violently in the wind – that is also coming into the kitchen via the hole in the wall – Tsk!

0702WC’d. Had a good scrub up and shave, got me togs on, got the washing ready in the bag – remembering to take the softener and soap capsule with me and set off down the laundry room.

Met me next flat neighbour as we both opened our door together. Had a little chin-wag, then to the lift and down.

No one in the laundry room so I got the machine going. Went out into the foyer to read me book, the plan was to have a little walk and take some photographs while the drier was on, cause that takes an hour.

I’d forgot to take me book down with me. So went back up and got it, brought it back down and sat in one of the high easy hairs to read it. I kept nodding off, and each time someone came in or out, the Tannoy blasted out “There is CCTV in operation in this building” to wake me and I got funny looks from whoever came in or out. Hehe! Did more kipping than reading I think.

0703Got me togs put away and despite the vicious looking wind I went out for a walk up to the park.

I took this photo of the stubby grass being blown in the wind to show how hard the wind was a-blowing.

Decided not to go too far.

0706On the way up the hill from the back of the flats the hillside has so many daisies bravely blossoming in the grass defying the cruel winds.

Up to the top and passing the kids play area – even with the wind (mind you I had me new hearing aid-batteries in wot I installed earlier) I could hear and lip-read the language being thrown about verbally by the parents and kids themselves… very crude!

0705Over the other side of the hill was some Pitch and Putt players enjoying a game.

I was a bit nervous in case a stray sliced shot came in my direction like?

I turned and took a photo of Woodthorpe an Winchester Court from a different angle, to ones I did earlier.

0704It was getting more windy than ever – I bet the pitch and putters were cursing it when they had to putt?

Then I wandered to the left and the gravel path that leads down to the flats, the one the local dog owners use daily for their dogs to relieve themselves and took one from the front side of the flats.

0703aI noticed that the three flats immediately above mine each had some balcony furniture in use.

I only got two hairs in the flat yet. Tsk!

I returned wind-battered to the flats and visited the WC and made a cuppa.

Then I found two letters on the floor that had been delivered. More Bills! One for me and one for Margaret the previous tenant, both from Severn-Trent.

I cleaned out me hearing-aid accoutrements bag that had got wet and dirty when I moved them in. I took a photo of them on the kitchen window and noticed the Emergency Alarm wrist band button there – and thought, hang-on, if I’m paying for this service as I am… why should the monitoring station phone up yesterday to tell me the battery power was showing too low and have me test it through their line, then tell me they would inform Nottingham City Homes and when i mentioned this to those in charge at the Community shed, they just said I’ll come and have a look Monday or Tuesday? Not on that! Swines!

0701I mentioned the trouble I’ve been having with maintenance people to a bloke yesterday, the lock being fitted and not working, the giant hole in the wall no one seemed interested in etc. and he said:”Tell me about it, yer can’t get owt done properly here!” and he tutted, shook his head mumbled summat and went off to this flat. Don’t bode well does it?

DSCF0150Made me nosh. cheesey beans, bacon and beetroot.

I enjoyed this too.

Hell of a job to get the pans clean afterwards. Huh!

Did a bit of Facebooking and took me medications.

TTFN all.

15 July 2015: Inchcock Today: Double Council Tax to pay!

Wednesday 15th July 2015

Sprang awake at 0105hrs – the dreams still making me shake with sheer fear at the memories of them. Made a cuppa, laptop on and started this diary off:

WC’d.

I seemed to be living in a mixture of all the dwellings I have ever lived at – the common denominator was gangs of various types attacking me every time I tried to get in or out. At one time I had concealed myself at the edge of a canal on the grass bank with binoculars, my old leather-bound motorbike helmet on and with a feather duster again?

When I woke I remember feeling so relived it was over and not real!

Started working on a LOMM site blog-post about the LOMM Partly political party and it’s Shadow Ministers. Got carried away and spent hours and hours and still didn’t get anywhere near finishing it when Glendora from Age UK rang the intercom to be let in.

We got so muh more sorted today thank heavens.

She rang Age UK in response to an insurance advertisement they sent me – and after only 58 minutes it was sorted. Of course the £59 they suggested it would cost, had gone up to £89 by the time all the extras had been added! Tsk! Still, I can stop worrying now, I think I’m covered – but it was so confusing all the questions – Good job Glendora was here.

She was too early to call the NHS line to change me address so I can get me iNR Warfarin level test results sent here and not the old place. The help line is only on three days a week and then only from 1100 to 1500hrs.

She then set about calling the Council about the tax, but as expected I have to pay both here and the old place until I sell it. Hey-ho!

We couldn’t get a hold of Steve from Age UK to ask him when he would be available to be here when the carpet fitters arrived to measure up, pick carpets and get the price off them. So no pint in ringing them yet.

Glendora took me down to the charity shop in Sherwood to see if the writing table and black comfy seat was still in stock – but no they’s been sold.

DSCF0119

Age UK’s volunteer Gendora taking me shopping

She then suggested she take me to Arnold and another shop to try for a bed – but they had no full time staff on duty and the volunteers didn’t know what had and hadn’t been sold?

We walked over to Wilkinsons store and I bought a clock and small mirror.

Back to the flat bless her.

She rang the Helpline at the NHS and persisted getting an answer eventually and sorted the address change for me.

I thanked her and off she went.

I got six more letters for the Margaret the previous tenant and three for me!

Hang on, I’m going to open em now…

I don’t like this at all – a Council Tax Bill for 2015/2016 for the old place – Amount due £852.95 – and one for the new flat amount due £855.81!

The last one from Nottingham City Council with a City Card – and offering me content insurance with no Excesses for £25 less than AGE UK who I’d just signed up for!

Also told me of the Rent and the ‘Extras’ i have to pay for CCTV, caretaking, communal light, TV receptions (Although I haven’t got one), Sheltered accommodation services? Supporting person Charge warden and Care alarm property.

DSCF0120Now I feel right down!

Had me nosh, the bad financial news took the edge off me enjoying it.

Did some Facebooking and then got down to finishing the LOMM post.

Hard work but I enjoyed doing it’

LOMM Partly Political Party…

DSCF0121I realised when I was half way through me apple that I’d noshed the sticky label! Huh!

It wer one of these here like wots on the other apples like.

Hey-ho!

Quilt, cushion, throw head down on the Kitchen floor – No cramps yet. Soon nooded off despite me worries… poor old grumps eh?

Mon 13 July 2015: Inchcock Today: No hot water – INR blood-test – Prescriptions – Moved some stuff from old place – Bus ride to Arnold to get what I couldn’t get cause they had none in!

cropped-main3.jpgMonday 13 July 2015

DraughtsUp at 0110hrs: At least I got some sleep in.

Not so cold this morning, but I could feel the draughts coming in via the corner in the kitchen when I got up – Brrr!

Cleared me sleeping togs and made a cup of tea. No hot water again.

Mind racing again trying to remember what I had to do, INR blood tests at the GP surgery, visit from City Homes 1300hrs. Must try to get some bits from the old place and call at the chemists to see about prescriptions.

Had to stop missen taking me medications too early – must remember to take them later though.

Laptop on and finished off yesterdays diary.

DuSepiaDid a bit of Facebooking, then did some graphicationalisationing on Coreldraw x7 and Corelpaint. Thought this one of Duncan came out good.

I was pleased with the outcome for once.

It was from a photo I took of him yesterday and I tried to make it look aged and sepia like.

Another cuppa (I must cut back on these) and took me medications around 0500hrs.

Got in a bit of a pickle when saving some of the worked on photo’s – as I’d saved them in CPT (Corel PhotoPaint) format and of course they were not acceptable for loading on here. Had to reload and save them again in the other programme in Jpeg.

Got a letter for the previous tenant Margaret and on me way out for a walk to the GP surgery fer me INR tests I dropped it off to my heroine Deana at the community shed, and mentioned me email I’d sent about no hot water. She’s going see if they can have a decker at it.

Walked to the end of Chestnut Way and down to the bottom of Winchester Street and along Mansfield Road into Carrington to the surgery, 24 minutes.

Several infamous Nottingham Pavement Cyclists en-route. Tsk… gits!

Got in the surgery and the nurse called me in after ten minutes or so. I like this nurse, she’s patient with us old fogies. She had a look at the healing skin cancer wound for me – all looking good. Then she checked appointments –  apart from the INR tests that will come in, no appointments at the moment until the 27th July.

Then she checked that I had changed me address on the computer and it was in alright – but the INR test results from the hospital keep getting sent to the old address.

Took me blood samples and showed concern over me bruising on the wrist still not clearing – but said this happens when your INR level is too high – which I didn’t know for sure cause I wasn’t getting the results and doses through the post.

DSCF0107I thanked her and set off a a little walk to the chemists. Where me nonthly prescription were ready to be picked up.

Then nervously made me way, keeping to the middle of the road and avoiding any of the alleyways I made me way to the old flea-pit.

I couldn’t help but be so glad I’ve moved when I saw the view of the road when I DSCF0104turned the corner into it.

Although there was nobody around, I could hear the music blasting away from the house opposite.

At least it had not been broken into in me absence.

I had a good hunt around and found some paperwork I might need and be of use for Glendora if she comes on Wednesday. Then had a hunt round and got some bits, books, pliers, socks and sundry I would need, but the two bags along with the stack of medications limited how much I could carry back to the flat. Still, a bit of progress of sorts achieved?

Got me bus-pass, locked-up and struggled to the bus-stop with me two bags. Dropped off in Sherwood, and went in the Dentist to alter me address there. The receptionist there was an Obergruppenfurher type as well. I came out a bag of nerves! Hehe!

Then a bit of luck for once – I was going to walk down and up the Winchester Street Hill back to the flats – but I checked at the bus-stop and an N9 inbound bus was due in 1 minute! Great! Especially as it was beginning to rain a bit.

Got off outside the block and made me way up to the flat -saw nobody on the way, which surprised me a tad as there are 200 flats in the block, and 146 of them are doubles.

Got in and put me bags in front room for sorting later, made a cuppa, WC’d for the fifth time today. Put the medications on the window ledge in the kitchen. And got the laptop on.

Put the JR radio station on the internet and listened to some Jazz ballads while doing this diary.

I actually heard a noise, and i was in he kitchen with the door closed -It was the Mail being delivered. Five for Margaret the previous tenant and one for me – from Nottingham City Homes informing me they were coming to change the flat door lock to a Suited Lock on 16th July twixt 1230 and 1630hrs. The idea being that when I pop me clogs or lay bleeding to death like, they (The City Homes folk) can get into the flat, cause they will have keys.

Added this appointment to the others on me Google diary.

Awaiting Deana (I think she said she was calling around 1300hrs – but…) and Iceland delivery. If both happen in time, I’d like to catch the bus into Arnold and back. See if I can get any bargains at the Fulton food store.

Still waiting for either or both…

IMG_0068It’s trying to rain again, overcast.

Still waiting for either or both…

Didn’t fancy going out on the balcony today – the rain made it look a bit slippery to me!

Still waiting for either or both…

Iceland arrived and I put away the nosh post haste and go missen ready to go on the Outbound L9 bus (Bless that free bus-pass) at 36 minutes past the hour that arrives in Arnold at 11 minutes past the hour, this gives me 19 minutes to do me shopping and catch the 30 minutes past the hour (Same bus on way back) into the flats. I think I’ve got it worked out right.

I only wanted three things and thought I’d get them all at Fultons Foods. Lemons, lamb shanks and microwave sausages.

Got into Arnold, nipped through onto Front Street and came out opposite Fultons.

They had none of any of em in stock! So I got some blackcurrant ice-cream lollies instead.

So I legged it back to the bus stop the other side of where I dropped off and caught the bus, it was three minutes early – luckily I was too!

DSCF0110If I’d missed it, there were no more direct buses and I’d have had to bus to town, bus out to Sherwood and have that long drag walking up the hill to the flats. Hey-ho.

It was drizzly and getting dark as I dropped off at the flats.

The driver saying “That was nippy shopping fella!”.

DSCF0112Made me nosh, chips in t’oven, peas and sausages I had left in fridge in microwave fifteen minutes later, and sliced a tomato – had some bread thins with it – I had them delivered earlier from Iceland along with some vinegar at last to have wi me chips.

I need not have worried about the oven smoking and setting off the smoke alarm – none at all – BUT! the microwave poured smoke out when I opened it – scared me to death in case it set it off. Opened the window shut the door and wafted away – pity cause that made the meal less than warm enough once I got to eating it! Tsk!

The chips were okay, the sausages fine, the garden peas nice but not very hot – but the Polish tomato was bitter as heck! Had an apple, me medications and an iced lolly afterwards.

No message from Deana – so I assume I got the day wrong for her calling.

Still no hot water. I struggled having to boil

kettle fer a wash and shave earlier. However the immersion water heater lit up this time and I left it on for an hour – costs a lot to use those do.

Long day.

Sat 11 July 2015: Inchcock Today – Whoopsiedangleplop encountered!

Saturday 11 July 2015

DSCF0061

0540hrs: Out of the kitchen window – Wonderful!

Up at 0500hrs: Mind racing trying to remember what I had to do, I knew there were some important things that I didn’t have time to do yesterday. But could I find the list wot I wrote yesterday?

No!

The skin cancer wound was itching like mad again, the little Inch had not been bleeding so much thankfully, Anne Gyna was a tad bothersome, Arthur Itis not too bad yet. Ulcer okay despite me having had me chips last night, the hernia playing up, but with all the lifting I’ve been doing I sort of expected this.

Had a dizzy spell when I got up and moved the quilt throw and jammies into the empty bedroom. Bit bothered about this, I don’t usually get them early in a morning?

Probably all the hassle and worry about so many things to get sorted yet and no progress being made.

At least it’s weekend now, so I should have time to get some things done without appointments.

Duncan, a cyber-mate is coming on Sunday to see me – not only that, he’s bringing a swivel chair he no longer uses for me! That is really kind of him and appreciated. Lifted me this news did. He said he’ll be here early on Sunday – I’m really looking forward to meeting him.

Lynt02This will be the second cyber-buddy I’ve met. Lynton Cox (A grand bloke) came to see me at the flea-pit earlier this year, and we had a jolly good chin-wag and he helped me with advice and encouragement too. Another decent sort indeed a bit special my Cyber-mates are.

He treated me to a nosh in a cafe as well.

Made a cuppa and took me medications.

Noticed that the bruising on me wrist that DSCF0062no one seemed concerned about when I tripped on a lose kitchen floor tile and reported it to the City Home Obergruppenfurher, had got bigger?

They just may read this and feel guilty about ignoring me plea for the tiles to be secured? Or not like.

Hey-ho, I’ve glued it down now, hopefully.

I checked the bus time-table, there are only four buses to town on a Saturday. First one at

1030hrs. Last one back from town at 1505hrs. Still, better than a Sunday there are no buses on Sundays. Still, the pensioners free bus-pass is getting less use.

I keep checking the hot water situation, but it is not hot enough to have a wash in yet, let alone have a shave – back to boiling a kettle then later perhaps? Not good!

Made another cuppa and carried out the porcelain functions. No blood from the haemorrhoids.

So busy it’s unbelievable – I had hoped that when I got to old age things would settle down and be easier. But no, it’s more hassle and hecticness than ever before – can’t remember half the things I need to do, let alone get them done.

Still no hot water Tsk!

Did some Facebooking and started this blog off.

BusTTPut a photo of the bus time table on TFZ, here it is.

Eight trips to town on a weekday, four on a Saturday and none – yes, not any on a Sunday.

This will take some getting used to.

I thought about sorting the carpets out and then thought maybe best to get all the repairs out of the way first? I don’t know, feel so alone and useless at the moment.

So much to do and nowt much getting done like.

Not feeling too good now for some reason, feeling a bit queasy and light headed. Oh dear.

CityRain I decided I had time to make up some pots of medications – oh dear…

Just about half way through them and noticed as I counted each pot, that one of the morning pots only had 8 pills in it – worked out which was missing (Beta-blocker) and opened the cupboard above to get some out and Arthur Itis made me fingers stiffen and do their own thing and I knocked over the boxes that fell onto the open pots below that I’d just made up, spilling them all over the damned place.

Took me ages to sort them out, throw away the ones that had been on the floor and checked to see that the right pills were replaced in each pot. By then it was getting close to the bus coming time and I had to rush and have a wash and shave in semi-warm water – naturally I cut missen shaving again. Wot a plonka!

L9route1Got missen ready and things that I need (I hoped) for the trip in me bag and set off to the bus-stop.

I caught the L9 bus and enjoyed the elongated route it took to town.

No idea how the driver got it through the tortuous side roads it had to take.

The locals on the bus were in a chatty mood between them themselves – by the time we had gotten into town I was particularly worried about Enid and her arthritis in her left shoulder.

And Gladys was desperate to find and buy a tea-cosy like the one her mum had knitted for her in 1944.

A chap who’s name was not mentioned was running low on hearing-aid batteries.

DSCF0065I hobbled down Queen Street across the slab square and down Exchange Walk to the bank.

I asked for and got, some 20p pieces I could save to use in the flats launderette. Then had to see an advisor to get me address changed.

She informed me that I had got me security code numbers wrong on two occasions, and they had to be changed. Huh! If I couldn’t remember those how do you expect me to remember a new one!

Ah-well, she suggested if I had a new flat, I could use that number and the number of the old house or visa-versa. I was getting headache now. After much mind puzzling thought I came up with random numbers and just hoped I’d remember them. (Mmm…) we’ll see.

Left and went to call at the Jessops camera shop to ask them if they could show me how to change the size of photo’s stored on me card in the camera – but they were too busy.

I nearly set off to walk to the Audio Clinic – but being as keen as mustard and having a sharp alert brain – I’d only got half way there when like a shot, I realised it was Saturday. (Fool!)

DSCF0066So I poddled back down the hill into the City Centre.

Where I was glad to find the Nottinghomian citizenry had not lost their ability to ignore the red pedestrian crossing lights on Red.

I only saw two or three pedestrian cyclist in town today as well.

On me way to the Pound Shop I passed a DSCF0068couple of newly wedded personages outside the old Victoria Hotel, now named the Hilton Hotel on Milton Street.

I took photo of them so Mike and Shirley, or any other couple could do some reminiscing like.

The Jaguar E type they had hired wasn’t half stinking of petrol – a leak there somewhere there must have been. Even the shoplifters nearby where mentioning it – but the happy couple didn’t seem to mind.

I was a bit bonifate in avoiding a turbo-charged Mobility Scooter driven my an aged lady with gritted teeth and a stare on her face that said without sound “Move!”

got to the pound shop and got some bits I thought I might need – a strainer, two fresh air citrus bulb things that I can’t make smell of anything when I got back to the flat?, oven tray for me chips, laptop hoover, a box of tea bags, a mug and a little sewing kit. I ask you, wot a plonker! Buying a sewing kit with my arthritic hands? Huh!

So, onward to Tesco and got some bread thins. some individual long life Carnation milk pots in case I run out of milk again and some New Zealand apples. Nice they are, very juicy and crisp!

Had a while before the bus back was due, so had a plod around the slab square amidst the roller-bladers, skateboarders and shoplifters having a rest and bite to eat.

Caught the bus back to Woodthorpe Court. 01topa

Dropped off the bus at Woodthorpe Court and as I entered noticed the laundry had a free machine and drier – so went up and deposited me bags and took me laundry down to do. Cause hopefully tomorrow when Dunc’ the Man comes I’ll be busy like having a great chin-wag.

DSCF0069When I got in the room one of the washing machines had no water? So I used the other one. Not used that one before and it was different to t’other one and I last me money first go. Tsk! Tried again and got it right. Went into the foyer with me crossword book and had a chat with some of the ‘girls’ having their hair done in the next room.

Transferred the clothes into the drier, they seem to have been cleaned well and did me DSCF0070cross-wording again in the foyer.

Two police officers arrived and ran to the lift and up to a flat or other.

Hello I thought! Well, yer would wouldn’t yer like?

The officers cam back down and out to their car, looking very gloomy-faced?

I went out fro a walk as the drier takes an hour to finish.

I soon came back in sharpish – blimey the weather up ‘ere don’t half change quick. Talk about blowing a storm up, the wind was cruel! Mind you, they have given heavy rain out fer Sunday and Monday.

I thought the drier had done an excellent job again. Said me cheerio’s to the gals and made me way back up to the flat.

Put the togs in the airing cupboard – and put on the immersion heater as the water was cold again.

DSCF0071I opened one of the pound shop Air bubbles and could smell nothing at all?

Zilch in the aroma stakes!

I tried to read the instructions on the other one but it was impossible – the letters looked like dots they were so small. Huh!

Hey-ho!

DSCF0073Made a nice strong cup of tea, well mug of tea with the pound shop tea ‘D’ bags.

Laptop on and updated this tripe.

Found a good station on the internet – listening to Big Band Swing at the moment on there Jazz section.

Bloomin’ good stuff! and free!

Big Band Swing music classics.

Just made a cuppa and toyed with the lemon air freshener thingy again – I now have a lemon scented kitchen floor, slippers and trousers.

going to do some Facebooking now although it’s getting late fer me – I’m all excited about Dunc coming to see me.

TTFN.

Wed 8 July 2015: Inchcock Today – Amazing discovery!

Wednesday 8 July 2015

0301

Up at 0450hrs: Dream memories back at last:

I was on a plane with several other people, none that I recognised. The seats were toilets… and we were singing and smiling at each other, when a door opened and a smiling pilot with a giant bottle of oxygen on a trolley came into the cabin and started to spray us all with it? That’s all I recall, but better than nowt.

Got up an WC’d… bleeding from the little Inch again – Tsk! and put the hot water heater on.

Did a search for me paint-splattered clothes, made up a laundry carrier bag to use until I get a basket later sometime.

Went into the bathroom for a wash and shave, felt better then – despite having to clean off paint splashes from the taps, bath, floor and WC. Tsk!

Made a cuppa and took me medications. Laptop on to start the diary.

Bit nippy this morning so put me dressing gown on above me other togs. Brrr!

Glendora is calling today, no idea what time, just hope she doesn’t come when I’m at the clinic.

I must say I’m liking this Virgin internet connection up to now. It’s faster than BT broadband.

I’ll try to get Glendora to phone about me gas and electricity at the old place for me, just to get the gas cut-off.

I really must get the washing done down in the tiny laundry room before Glendora might come. Don’t want to do it too early in case the noise of the machines and water pipes bothers anyone sleeping late.

Oh dear, just had a little dizzy spell then. Huh!

Hey-ho, there are plenty of folk worse off than I am.

Checked me emails.

Go me bit of washing ready, soap capsules, fabric conditioner and crossword book and pne… as I went through the door into the passageway – I heard the Fire Alarm sounding – unsure of how long it had been sounding I proceeded with me washing to walk down the stairs, and met a bloke coming up the stairs. He said it went off 15 minutes ago, and the Fire Brigade had said it was safe to re-enter. Oh dear?

IMG_0057Proceeded down to laundry room and got the washing machine going without too much kerfuffle. Then started the drier and it said it took 60 minutes to dry, so went into the lobby with me crossword book, but I’d not got me reading glasses so that was the end of that idea.

The bruising on me wrist from Monday is going down nicely – Tst!

Glendora arrived ten minutes before the drier was due to finish. We went up to the flat. But I had not got the paperwork for her to sort out me Council tax or utility things – must get them for next Wednesday from the the old place when she comes again.

She did ring Tesco to complain about me broken clock and crushed cake for me and they said they would knock off the costs against a later delivery.

I nipped down and retrieved me well dried laundry from the drier and returned to the flat.

Walked Glendora back to her car. Then called at the shed to tell someone about my not hearing the Fire Alarm. Deana and the Frau Obergruppenfurher were there. Deana said she would call to see me on Friday about having a strobe fitted. I asked if Deana had an email I could send the list of medications I’m on instead of her struggling to read my writing. (I struggle to read my writing!)

Then I returned to the flat, having a little natter with some residents from the same floor near the lift, and made up me medication list and emailed it off to her.

Then the Amazing Discovery was discovered… I found an area of at least two foot by 6 inches in the living room without any paint splashes on it!

Just thought I’d mention it like…

I wanted to get back to the flea-pit but by the time I’d had me visitor and sorted the fire-alarm concern time had beaten me. The buses will stop running to the flats in two hours so I would not be able to get back in time.

Did a post for the LOMM site.

IMG_0058Had some nosh.

Made list of medications and emailed it to Deana.

Dizzy spell and I felt unwell.

Quickly got my head down…

Ten minutes later got a call on the mobile – wrong number…

Twenty minutes later, got a call on me mobile Repair men confirming tomorrows visit…

Ten minutes later the GP surgery rang – I’ve got to go in to have an emergency INR level blood test tomorrow for some reason the level has risen to 6.9! No wonder I was feeling cold with me blood that thin – Tsk! Take no Warfarin tonight!

I had to start the laptop to check me appointments, and there are plenty of them this week.

0301Now I have to hope that Caretaker Robert who is going to connect me cooker and the repairmen who are to do the kitchen repairs are on time so I can get to the GP surgery in time.

I gave up trying to get some sleep and carried on with this diary, made a cuppa and cried with frustration!

Getting dark early tonight – rain maybe coming.

Took me medications, making sure I’d thrown away the Warfarin tablets from the pot first.

Still feeling so tired and drained.

Sleep? What’s that then?

Mon 6th July 2015: Inchcock Today

Monday 6th July 2015

0104aUp at 0125hrs, shivering with cold and wide awake?

The cramps were not so bad and the wounds from yesterdays Whoopsiedangleplop weren’t too bad either.

A few recollections of me dreams lingered:

A woman was telling me off about something or other and I kept pouring cups of tea for her… and could not get the right amount of milk she wanted?… then the door opened and in filed dozens of women and they formed a queue near a snooker table demanding their cups of tea? – In walked Harold Wilson and sat in the chair?

That’s all I can recall.

Had a dizzy-spell later – not good that, I thought they were on holiday. Hehe!

IMG_0043BJ is calling this morning to fetch some stuff for me from the hovel. The decorator is due around 0800hrs – not sure if Steve is coming or not – perhaps Glendora will call?

The patriotic car from yesterday was still there when we passed.

Did some Facebooking – I dare not use the taps for a wash this early – noisy plumbing might disturb me new neighbours.

IMG_0047Painter arrived and soon started in the living room. Sociable chap, very helpful.

BJ rang he’s on his way. Said I’d meet him outside so he didn’t have to come all the way up.

Met him in car park and we set off to the hovel.

We collected no end of stuff, filled his car I think, and took it to the flat.

On the way we stopped at the Co-op store and got some bread (Being as I had got me toaster in the car )and long life milk.

Bit of a job getting it all up to the flat but we managed somehow. BJ had to shoot off and I went down with him and thanked him for his help again.

Realised that until we get the place sorted I could not use the toaster. Tsk!

Then the decorator went off for his nosh – and the Tesco delivery arrived. Well, IMG_0048by the time I ‘d put the stuff anywhere I could find to temporarily, the painter was back.

I got the clock I bought from Tesco out and we both agreed it was knackered – the hands were loose. Tsk!

And the White grape and blackcurrant flavoured spring water I’d bought tempted me to a quick swig – Eurgh! Far too sweet! Undrinkable!

IMG_0046Then a maintenance man arrived to repair the loose wiring in the Intercom line. Soon had it all boxed in for me. He didn’t want any bottles of White grape and blackcurrant flavoured spring water either!

I asked the painter chappie if he would like a bottle of White grape and blackcurrant flavoured spring water, but he was not too keen.

By now with all the lifting and carrying and the nowhere to sit comfortably scenario my back, arms and legs were suffering – also the affects of me Whoopsiedangleplop on me right wrist was humming a bit.

Steve rang, he’s coming later to have a chat.

Feeling well and truly done in now – cramps starting, so tired.

0104cSteve and Paul the decorator got the Fridge freezer and cooker ordered from Currys for me, delivery tomorrow between 0800 and 1800hrs.

But we are not sure if they will ‘fit’ the cooker for me or not like?

The fridge-freezer should be okay to just plug in?

0104dI’m really looking forward to having some oven chips – but with my luck I’m not holding my breath…

I have got a doctors appointment in the morning and then going to Asda to see if we can get some of the plastic drawers on offer.

Steve and Paul left with a bottle of White grape blackcurrant spring water each, and a weary me put the laptop on to do this diary before I fall asleep.

Mind you, I want to have me Marmite sarnies first.

I bet the cooker is still not been delivered or if it has not connected when I get back tomorrow. I’m not that lucky.

TTFN from a tired, weary, in pain and far poorer Inchcock.

Hehehe!

Sat July 2015: Inchcock Today –

Saturday 14th June 2015

aa00h

Up at 0310hrs.

The bedroom felt cold last night, the other rooms didn’t?

Made cuppa and took me last pot of medications.

Bit of thunder and lightning going on this morning, it soon stopped though.

Then I took a photo from the kitchen window from the same view as the one I took last night. Interesting comparison I thought?

01topLaptop on, another cuppa and started on this diary.

Must remember what I need to get today.

Back to the dump to get medications, chemist to get new prescriptions, get bread and long-life milk (The little bottle I got has curdled now – no fridge yet! Huh!)

Checked emails and Facebooked for a while.

No hot water this morning, have to boil water in the kettle to have a shave.

IMG_0026The rain turned to mist and then fog after I took this picture.

Managed to force down a pot of Golden Syrup flavoured porridge, cause I imagine it ain’t good not eating for so long. Just not hungry?

Then, although I haven’t got all the seasoning to make curried beans, I opened a tin and mixed in some sultanas left them to soak in. I hope to remember, and be able to carry some of the seasonings from the flea-pit later today. (I forgot – huh!)

There are only four buses today (Mind you, tomorrow there are none!), first one at 1030hrs, so I have plenty of time to have wash and shave using hot water from the kettle – what a farce. I still haven’t seen anyone to ask about this lack of hot water in the mornings and days. (I dare not ask the Camp Kommandant Obergruppenführer woman), but I think a lady told me there are none of them on site at the week-ends.

Ah well, I’ll get the kettle on and have a shave then… back in a bit…

IMG_0030Set off taking the letters for Mrs Leadbetter with me and couple of bags to put me stuff in from the flea-pit and me shopping.

On me way down in the lift I put the camera low so it wont be seen and took a photo of missen – then remembered the CCTV camera, Tsk!

The Community shed was all locked up. So stuck the letters in me bag to deliver later.

Set of on me walk down Winchester Street hill and on to Carrington.

The sun was coming out now.

Got in the hovel and packed some stuff that I could find that I might need, mobile charger, socks, undies, etc. I thought I’d put some shirts in as well, but later found they were some Lounge trews that were too small. I decided to bus to town and get some cheapo t-shirts.

Called at the chemist who told me it’s two weeks yet before the prescription is due. All this hassle got me even more confused than usual.

So back to the house and picked up what medication were there to do-up into pots tomorrow.

Called in Tesco in town got some bread and ham to have with me beans later.

IMG_0031

A good few folk about.

Went to the bust-stop to get the L9 back to the flats – next one was due 2 hours later!

There was only four buses running on a Saturday – every two hours over 0930 to 1630. And there are none running at all on a Sunday. So I might get me medication pots done and have a walk locally to get the lay of the land so to speak?

I called in Primark got some shirts and socks then back to the bus-stop.

When I got back to the flat many letters had been delivered. Three for Mrs Leadbetter, and five for me!

One about the direct debit fer the rent, and three giving me dates fro when the repairmen will be calling to do jobs.

The other a con-job from a someone giving me a number to ring to get 200% return on summat or other – binned it.

01topYou should see me Google diary now. Hang on, I’ll try to take a screen shot of it…

I put the hot water immersion on but nowt happened.

An hour or so later tried again and the light came on – it worked?

Searched and searched for me mobile – going potty I was – had I left or dropped it on the bus – oh dear…

Eventually after a beard growth or half an inch I found it – plugged in charging behind the microwave. Wot a plonka!

I had a bash on Facebook to have a break like.

The blow-up bed that Steve has loaned me has a Velcro like coating and every time I moved it holds on to me jammies and this caused a nasty Whoopsiedangleplop within minutes of me nodding off. The little Inch started bleeding rather badly. Spent the next hour or two in the bathroom cleaning missen up and trying to stop the bleeding. Got bad at one stage and I thought about calling for help.

None of the clinics creams or pads here at the flat – an oversight I regretted. Must remember to collect some tomorrow from the dump.

TTFN all.

Wed 1st July 2015: Inchcock Today: Still in a pickle…

Wednesday 1st July 2015

Still in a pickle!

CabH2

Woke 0410hrs – put the water heater on – then took me medications and laid there pondering on the day’s demands coming my way.

Lot’s to do again still. Get the things ready to take to the new flat – Steve coming at 1200hrs – Workmen coming to the flat ‘twixt 1215 and 1415hrs to look at the bathroom toilet blockage and the brown water coming from the cold water tap, things to sort in the kitchen packing away stuff… must talk with Steve about the sequence of things, so much to sort… got to get Fridge-freezer and cooker and internet connection… confused even thinking about it. by then I’m sure I’ll be ready to get me head down. Tsk!

A cuppa and some stuff out to the bins and got on with Facebook for a bit, then finished and posted yesterdays Diary, started this diary.

Had a bash at amending graphics on Serifdrawplus without any success, did it better in Coreldraw x7.

Sorted the things to take with me today (I hope) that I’ll need in the new place that I can a store in the cupboards so as to make it easier for the decorator to get his job done and the carpet layer who I haven’t even thought of sorting yet… Huh!

Steve rang, he will not be coming to pick me up but meet me at the flat with a volunteer Age UK helper Glendora.

Set off with two heavy carrier bags on me walk to the flat.

35 minutes later – bedraggled, burning feet and well knackered I arrived at Woodthorpe Court.

I put on the immersion heater. I was good and early and decided being as I’d taken some cleaners with the other things, to clean the windows. They are type you can turn around to clean the other side.

When I completed the turning stale rainwater flowed out of three corroded parts and I had a right mess to clear up. Luckily I’d taken a bowel and some basins and used them to put under the escaping water – unfortunately not before it had soaked me cap and crossword book and spilt onto the  power point! I left it in the open position to let the water drain.

A good start methought!

I found what I thought was a large smudge of Tippex on the living room window – on closer inspection it was what looked like a pellet shot hole that had been covered. Mmm?

I tried the water later but it had not warmed up at all after an hour?

Then some mail came fr the previous tenant. I put them in me bag to drop off at the community shed when I left.

The phone rang, it was Glendora arriving. A few seconds later I thought perhaps she did not know the way up – so I nipped in a lift and went down to the entrance area, as she was in the other lift going up, so I went back up and found her knocking on the flat door.

Nice lady I had met her once before when I first met Steve.

She started to ask me things and then Steve rang to be let in.

Things got a little hard to follow then as they were both speaking and it was hard to make out what was being said.

Then it got worse, the plumber rang for entry and started to toy with the pipes in the bathroom.

As Glendora and Steve were thankfully sorting out on the phone for me the Virgin internet setting up of, the plumber said all done mate and I asked him what the problem had been with the WC – “Wot problem?” he asked. I pointed out the Do Not Use wrapper around the toilet seat – he looked down it and pulled the chain saying “Nowt wrong wi that!” So all this time I’ve been unable to relieve missen, it just needed the chain pulling? I noticed he flushed the sign telling me not to use it down sharpish like. Tsk!

Steve told me he’s sorted Virgin internet connection to be done Friday between 1300hrs and 1800hrs. With Tesco delivering Friday as well twixt 1200hrs to 1400hrs that fitted in nicely.

Thursday (Tomorrowis Doctors at 0900hrs, nurse at 0930hrs and possibly a trip to the clinic depending on what the nurse thought of the state of me bleeding little lesion?

Steve produced a blow up mattress for me to use until I can get a new one – nice of him I thought!

Much talking of things I had to do, things not to do and things important and those less important followed – I’d gotten confused by then with it all, and was feeling really drained, happy, but drained.

We had a 30 second thunderstorm then. Gosh the thunder sounds loud when your high up in the sky – Hehehe!

Steve and Glendora left and I checked everything to make sure it was safe with nowt left on like – the hot water was still cold in the kitchen when I turned off the heater after four hours? Locked up and made me way to call at the community shed to drop off the letters on me way back to the flea-pit.

The shed was locked-up, hey-ho!

It took me 30 minutes to walk back to Carrington and when I got to the Co-op store me mobile rang – but I couldn’t hear what was being said due to me deafness and the noise of the traffic.

Got some milk and made me way back – and the phone rang again – it was someone from the flats asking me to be in the flat Monday between 1200 and 1700hrs to be spoken to about the intercom?

I got back in and so tired and weary and the door lock would not lock? While struggling with it, getting nowhere Steve rang – it seems when I tried to ring the first caller back I’d dialled his number in mistake. Huh! He said he would be passing my dump in about five minutes and would call in to see if he cold help.

The INR results had been delivered and I had to get the next one done on the Monday. Steve kindly rang the surgery to make an appointment for me on Monday morning – because of the need for me to be in the flat twixt 1200 and 1700hrs for the intercom thing whatever it is on Monday. The receptionist told him there were no free slots on Monday at all – but could make it on Tuesday at 0930hrs, Mmm? And yet last week when I asked them to make it Tuesday instead of Monday, they insisted if the hospital say Monday, then Monday it must be!!! Confusing innit?

Too tired to make owt fancy I had microwave sausage sandwiches and me medications for nosh.

By gawd me feet are aching and stinging now.

Here are the photo’s I took before it got hectic at the new flat today:

TTFN all!
