Inchcock Today – Monday 26th March 2018: Fresh Cream French Horns – Guilty!

Monday 26th March 2018

Latin: Martii Lunae 26 MMXVIII

(0057hrs) But updated to BST 0157hrs: Woke up coughing and sneezing, in a right state. Shaking and shivering for a few minutes. But as the brain engaged with the body thongs returned to normal and there were no signs of sniffles, coughs or sneezes? Had I dreamt this?

With surprising agility, I was out of the £300 second-hand recliner and into the wet room. Had a wee-wee. Inchies small lesion was tended to, cleaned up, and the PPs were changed. I changed the big clock on the fireplace. Then the one in the kitchen and the one near the computer.

Back to the kitchen, via the wet room for another wee-wee, and got the Health Checks done and medications were taken. Made up the listings for the Haematology Anticoagulation & Deep Vein Thrombosis unit.

1Mon001

Updated the Sunday post and got it posted off. A few comments read, appreciated and replied to. Then I went on to the Reader page.

The coughing and sneezing seem to be coming in short little bursts. After a minute or two, I seem to be back to normal, then sometime later, another round starts again? Very odd.

I put on a 1.5hr YouTube Chernoble documentary and watch it all the way through. Why? I’ve no idea.

Ablutions were tackled, medicationalisationing taking the most time. Thank heavens, for the efficient but expensive Germoloid Cream! Hehe!

WDP001A I opened the window as far as I was permitted with the locks 1Mon10still being on, to take a photo of down below to my left. Had to get the camera-strap on the right wrist and thread both hands, one in each break, through the narrow gaps and stick my hands out as far as they would go, then look through the glass at the screen on the back of the Panasonic Lumix. I clouted the left wrist and the right knuckles threading the limbs back in between the plastic covered security-wires!

This served me right! My own silly fault. Especially after saying I would not take any more low photographs from the kitchen window again, because it is too complicated and risky to get out safely with the camera, and hitting my head twice yesterday morning, doing it then! I am a nincompoop!

1Mon14And, also, as-well-as and besides; Can you see the dirty-great window shelves sticking out? The one on my windows is filthy with red dust, bird poo and large deep, dirt filled scratches on it already! But, the worst thing is it blocks the views. Very disappointing, another annoyance, aggravation, bedevilment, bug, vexation, exasperation, frustration, irritation and nuisance. Kindly implemented from the well-intentioned caring Nottingham City Homes and the well paid Willmott-Brown conglomerates, tour de force.

To irritate me more, there is knocking coming now from BBJ (Big Bad John) above. Frown!

I shouldn’t moan really at all. However, the niggles, appointment changes, workmen not arriving when they say they will, changes they make at short notice, the dirt and mess, the noise, the missed… Oh, sorry. I’m bleating, blathering and babbling on again!

Got dressed and made sure the black bags were sorted and placed near the door so I didn’t forget to take them to the chute with me on the way down when I went out.

All ready to go out, and a final double check on the taps, lights, computer, TV, windows, heaters, cooker and crock-pot to make sure I’d not left anything on. And off I went, dropped the bags down the chute, and into the lift. Stood there with my demented mind running off to its own thoughts, fears and frustrations.

WDP001A It was a couple of minutes before I realised I’d not pressed the button for the ground floor. Tut-tut!

1Mon01aOut onto Chestnut Walk on my way to the OBergrippenfhureress Wardens Temporary HQ and Social Shed; I stopped to take this picture of Woodthorpe Court.

I didn’t see any tenants all the way to the hut. This seemed almost strange to me. Plenty of workmen milling about, though.

Got inside the hut and offered a cheery Good Morning to the wardens in the little room. Only three tenants in there. Plenty more outside at the bus stop, smokers I assume.

I was a little worried about Welsh Bill, mind. He looked fine and chatted well. But there was not a single insult, put-down or sarcastic comment thrown in my direction from him. I hope he is alright.

Out to the bus stop, with now at least 24 residents in the queue. The young gal from the residential home at the end of Chestnut Walk was in the line, and she made her way to me for a gossip, bless her cotton socks. She has lost some weight, and that is not good. I handed her a Tunnock chocolate caramel bar to nibble later. The poor gal suffers from Anorexia Nervosa and is Autistic. Many others do not understand at all and tend to treat her as if she is backward. This is why I always try to talk to her, but more importantly, to listen to her.

As it happens, we were both going to Arnold. So we sat next to each other on the L9 bus. I listened to whatever she wanted to tell me, and with genuine interest too, that is essential I think. Learnt about her Mother and her problems and her Sister also. I tried to encourage her gently, to nibble more.

We offered each other our farewells as she got off a few stops before I did. I hobbled into the Asda (Walmart) store and began a major-food-buying mission. Haha! No rush, but I kept looking at the time though, so as not miss the L9 bus back home, at 1115hrs.

The feet were stinging after half-an-hour of selecting fodder, but I carried on all the same. Got to the checkout and joined the queue. I filled up one bag and had to use another.

1Mon11When the young lady told me how much it was to pay, I realised I had gone over-the-top on spending today.

£30.07! Blimus!

I had to use my card to pay them with. What a Plonka!

I thanked the lady and made my way out of the shop.

1Mon01bBefore I even go outside, I had to stop and put the bags down, for a breather.

So heavy were the things I’d bought

At least I’d packed the heavy stuff at the bottom of the bags, so nothing got crushed or broken.

I felt a touch of guiltiness at having purchased the Fresh Cream French Horns. (Amongst other 1Mon05items, Ahem!)

I struggled to get to the bus stop, due to the weight of my bags-full of not-needed foodstuffs. Tsk!

But, Hippy Hilda and Arthur Itis were both being kind to me. Only Anne Gyna and the plates-of-meat were any real hassles. So, no complaints from me.

1Mon07The automatic Asda petrol station that was over the road didn’t have a single customer all the ten minutes, or so, I waited for the arrival of the L9 bus. And, there was only one bloke apart from me, at the shelter?

The driveress of the bus was a friendly one. I gave the lady a nibble bar and said a few pleasant words to her when I got on.

I’d hoped that the girl from Residential Home might get on the bus en route, but she didn’t. Not many passengers were on the vehicle, but the driveress was chatting to some all the way back. With voices all going at the same time, I couldn’t hear what was being said nor join in the chinwagging. Shame.

No tenants got on in Sherwood either.

Back at the flats, and things got brighter, and the sky became a lovely shade of blue. So I took a couple of photos of my beloved if dirty, noisy and mayhem-ridden Woodthorpe flats.

Not many residents waiting for the bus either.

1Mon08

I think the workers were on there lunch-break because I could only see a few of them about.

1Mon08aI limped along to the apartments, having to stop a couple of times to put the bags down en route. A poor old thing, me. Hehehe!

In the lift foyer, and I spotted an addition to the sign about an upcoming meeting. So, we have a meeting about the new CCTV-System, the new  Tannoy-System and the new Intercom-System! Jenny’s updating to guide us. More dust and mess on the way! Hey-Ho!

I’d love to go the meeting, but will I be able to hear anything being said, this time?

Up to the flat, and had a wee-wee, and got the Health Checks done. Sys back up high again?

WDP001A I realised belatedly that I’d left the bags of shopping in the hall. So got them into the kitchen and somehow managed to get everything into the cupboards, fridge and freezer. I was a bit chuffed about this.

1Mon09

I checked the till receipt to make sure everything was there, and I had not been swindled.

Mind you, I needn’t have, not like when I go to Lidl, then it is advisable to check things.

Well, I’ll be a monkey’s Uncle: Had I bought a lot or what!

1Mon15

Total spend: £30.07. Huh!

I noticed I’d got the numbers wrong on the list above. Plainly, further reassurance of my lack of concentration?

Made a brew and started to update this blog, got up to here.

The noises from the workmen and BBJ were getting to me. Humph!

I decided to have sandwiches tonight for the meal. Porkpie and buttered Cob bread with tomatoes sounded appealing to me. I put some mushrooms to simmer in the saucepan with some light soy sauce seasoning and sugar in the water. Try saying that when you’ve had a few! Haha!

1Mon17Did the last Health Checks, tool the medications, had a wee-wee and had a dizzy-spell while I was sat down. Cleare up quickly, though.

Went to get the nosh ready and served up.

Interesting new clanging noises from BBJ upstairs. You can’t beat variety. Haha!

1Mon13This meal was followed with the digesting of the Fresh Cream French Horns. For once, I have to say I did not enjoy them much? But, I still gobbled them all up.

Went into the kitchen to wash the pots. The sky looked threatening, yet beautiful at the same time.

WDP001A Had a bit of a dizzy while I was doing the pots. Tried to watch a DVD, and cannot recall much of what occurred after that.

Inchcock Today – Sunday 25th March 2018

Sunday 25th March 2018

Maori: Rātapu 25 o Maehe 2018

0150hrs: After several waking-up, passing wind and nodding off sessions, I managed to force my reluctant body-mass out of the £300 second-hand recliner. The brain joined us a short while later, and off to the Porcelain Throne.

Harold’s Haemorrhoids had bled only the tiniest bit. But, Little Inchies lesion had been flowing and congealing then flowing again repeatedly, judging by the mess in the PPs. A most problematic and embarrassing cleaning up session ensued. The Daktacort cream had done me no good last night, then. Washed up and to the kitchen.

7Sun05Went to get the slippers on in the hallway, and blow-me-down, more gumph had been delivered.

A guide for residents. A letter with the leaflet from Luke Johnson, the Nottingham City Homes’ Dedicated Project Manager for the scheme. He will be working at Winchester and Woodthorpe for the duration of the scheme. (Although the ‘scheme’ has been pestering, annoying, ignoring, making residents poorly, deafening, dirtying the flats, making them so cold, installing heaters that cost twice as much to run as the old ones, cocking up medical appointments, leaving holes in walls and floors in single flats [Mine anyway], blowing our minds with masses of advice and details of the works progress and future activities. Held meetings where anyone with hearing aids find it impossible to hear over the multitude of voices. And, successfully making tenants into nervous wrecks; for months now.) Hehe!

More details about the additional safety works will follow.

7Sun07At the bottom of the letter, it said: We also have information on our website. This site includes some short ‘myth-busting’ films about the sprinkler systems that we’ll be installing. I thought this is nice and thoughtful of them. Later, I looked at the page indicated. Which was http://www.nottinghamcityhomes.org.uk/fire-safety. But found no myth busting films on it. I searched the page for; sprinkler system and got No Results. I went back to Google and did a search on there, and found the site with the film on it at:

http://www.nottinghamcityhomes.org.uk/your-neighbourhood/around-your-home/safety/fire-safety-enhancement-works/

Interesting mini-films, mind.

Sprinkler Systems This site also informs us that: It will take two days to fit a sprinkler system in your flat, and your décor will not be damaged. I doubt that very much, judging from past work done of which my apartment still carries the scars!

Tannoys Make it possible for us or the Emergency Services to broadcast announcements, instructions or messages in communal areas. This, adds an additional level of security and safety.

Intercoms Are linked to front door access to provide a standard front door intercom, but they’re also connected to our control centre so that we can contact you in your home to let you know about disruption to services, lifts issues, or what to do in the event of an emergency. They will also be programmed for direct access to the repairs helpline and your local housing office. The system also allows us to contact you, by text message to your intercom, and to broadcast to you in emergencies or at times when services are being disrupted. We will need access to your home for around two hours to install your new intercom.

All slippered-up, I went to the kitchen. The Health Checks, sphygmomanometering, and medications were tended too.

7Sun4b

I made a brew. The tummy started to swell and gurgle a bit.

The computer switched on, and I got on with completing the Friday post. It took a while.

Then I took a picture out of the new kitchen window of the scene below.

WDP02A I shan’t be doing this very often in future, though. The 7Sun06cmain reasons being the bruised knuckle, the strained back and my head in hitting the handle on the window as got up on my already painful toes to reach forward to place the camera in the optimum position for the photograph to be taken.

I started this blog off.

The innards got worse, and I had to abandon the computer work and get to the Porcelain Throne with as much expedition as I could muster. It was close-call, but I got there just in time! A little ululation was released as the once again, Trotsky Terence affected evacuation progressed – slowly once the movement began, I might add. Cleaned up yet again, back to the computer. Leaving behind a strong stench that could strangle anyone who enters again in the next hour or two. Cor blimey!

7Sun33Brother-in-law Pete sent me a photograph he’s taken in Nottingham City Slab Square the other night. Pete thought it was rather good.

I think it was brilliant!

He’s got the latest mobile G5 phone. He used that to take this picture.

WDP02A Off I went to make another brew. As I left the room, I spotted yet another of the thousands of bits of concrete and plaster still awaiting clearing up on the floor. Bent down to gather it up, and boing! Hit the head in the same spot as I had earlier on the window handle, this time on the corner of the writing bureau. A nice little blue bruise coming up now. It may turn out to be a pretty pattern methinks. Haha!

Came across some photographs of the latest upgrade work now finished at Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem Inn. The oldest pub in England and still trading, too! Thought some of my Australian, American and Canadian TFZer friends might like to see them. Especially as I can’t do a lot on their Facebook page. But a bloke is coming to look at things on the computer for me sometime next week.

On to CorelDraw to do some page top graphics.

Big Bad John is banging about again.

7Sun33aWDP02A Had a break to get the potatoes in the slow-cooker. A few seconds then ‘Bang!” (Not as loud as them from Big Bad Jonn earlier, but loud enough to hear it without the aids in the lug-holes). No idea why or what had happened, but I unplugged it straight away. Got the new spare crock-pot out of the Junk-Room, and washed it, then used that to do the potatoes. Tsk!

Made a brew of Assam tea and got back to doing the header graphics! I’ve only done the one in over two-hours. I got carried away with it, cause I thought it might be a decent one. Not so sure now I’ve finished it.

The head is still stinging a bit.

The next one I did, I don’t want to reveal the graphic until it is used, was a mock book cover entitled; “The thorniest, perplexing, unexcogitable, inexplicable, and dishonest lying nepotistic groups of esurient, ingordigious expense-fiddling, slime-balls in the UK”.

Got one more done. The potatoes were nearly ready in the crock-pot. Got the onions and beef in the oven after a while.

So I got the drafts done and saved.

BBJ (Big Bad John) upstairs is at it again, banging about. Tsk!

Going to get the nosh served up now. Back in a bit folks.

7Sun33bFrikadellens, potatoes, mushrooms and battered onion rings onto the plate with a lemon mouse.

Ate and enjoyed the nosh.

Got the washing-up done and settled to watch some ‘Goodnight Sweetheart’ DVD episodes. A two-part pleasure this was. The viewing was appreciated and having the headphones on, meant I could not hear BBJs (Big Bad John’s) noises for a while.

I watched through two episodes of the DVD before drifting off into the land of Nod.

WDP02A Sprang awake an hour or so later, and had to tend to the fungal lesions bleeding. Washed, dried, Daktacort applied and changed PPs.

As I got back into the recliner, I scribbled on the notepad to remind me to change the clocks in the morning. Another hour lost. Hehe!

WDP02A The phone light flashed as I lay there in blissful sleep, amazingly I heard the ringer. It was Brother-in-Law Pete. I was deeply confused and half-awake. I think we spoke a lot but can’t recall what I said. The whole thing was dreamlike.

Reckon they are calling to see the new windows and balcony, on Friday next possibly. I’ll check with them tomorrow to confirm it was not a dream.

Head down again, and off in seconds.

Inchcock Today – Saturday 24th March 2018: An Anodyne day of the Shpilkes!

Saturday 24th March 2018

 Yiddish:  שבת 24 מאַרץ 2018

0245hrs: Oh, dear. I’ll not mention the ailments giving me bother, it would take too long. Far easier to tell you which are not giving me discomfort. Hippy Hilda, Hernia Harry and Roger Reflux. Hehe!

No time to gather my thoughts this morning. Struggled out of the £300 second-hand recliner with some difficulty, thanks to Arthur Itis, and off to the wet room and the Porcelain Throne. The toe I stubbed twice last night was still painful. It looks like Trotsky Terence is making a comeback. Messy. But Harold’s Haemorrhoids were not bleeding at all. Seems that the Germoloid cream is working. Mind you, as Corin pointed out, with the low INR reading, the bleeding should be less. Little Inchies fungal lesion had been leaking, though. Washed up and changed the PPs.

Tended to the Health Checks and medicine and tablet taking.

6Sat05

6Sat03The pulse seems to be dropping over the last few days. I’m not sure if that is a good or bad thing?

Back to the wet room for a wee-wee. The lesion was bleeding again. Huh!

I returned to the kitchen and took the medications.

6Sat001I had another brew to replace the one that went cold and looked out at the row of street lights depicting the location of Winchester Street hill.

The mind went off on its own course, feelings ranging from loneliness, jealousy, self-hating, fear for mankind’s future and surprise at my standing thinking like this?

Anne Gyna started to kick off. Another astonishment. This happening, while I was stood quietly with my little mug of tea in my hand looking out of the kitchen window, and in a relatively meditative, calm state of mind. Anne rarely if ever gives me any pain or hassle unless I am moving, walking (Especially uphill), bending, lifting or pushing something. When Duodenal Donald joined in, I was in trouble. So, off to the medical drawer and had another big swig of the medicine, an extra Codeine, Ramipril and an Omeprazole capsule. I don’t like having to take additional medications. But I was in real pain this time. Why this should suddenly happen, I don’t know. I felt right uncomfortable.

I went to get the mobile phone, I’d left it, as I often do, in the jacket pocket hanging up in the hall. A double-sided information leaflet from Nottingham City Homes and Willmott-Brown had been put through the door. (When I have no idea) The dreaded anticipation of the mess and hassle of the new Sprinkler system was mentioned. This is going to be another two-day job. With pre-visits to discuss areas needing to be cleared to enable the works to be carried out. Like with the heaters, windows and balcony work. These were enough to get me and many others all wound-up: with the changes made to appointments, days changes, late arrivals, the mess left behind. Having to rearrange medical appointments and people promising to come at a specific time, after I explained things to them and still being late! Which in turn has so far, made me late for the blood tests, dentist and the clinic. In fact, I missed an appointment at the GUM clinic at the City Hospital. Making me very unpopular within the NHS!

6Sat04

So now, I have the physical pains joined by anguish and dread for the upcoming mayhem. I do not intend to do any cleaning at all, now! Sod-it! It’s only going to get messed up again with the sprinkler, communications system and new alarm fitting. And the plastering of the holes in the windows and doors has to be done yet. More mayhem and hodgepodge to look forward to! If I’m still alive when this all gets done, then I’ve got to get new curtains, pay someone to fill in the holes left in the floor and wall when the heaters were installed too close that I could not open my drawers so had to be moved! And the panels cracked along the bottom of the walls will need replacing.

I’m shuddering at the thought of all the work and expense I’ll have when it is all eventually finished. And the chances are I’ll be a few years U04older by then. Hehe!

Another thing, why do they put metal screws into the white panelling without white plastic caps on them?

I wonder if I can buy some to click-on myself from somewhere?

Then, there are the new balconies to be fitted. I reckon these will mean my having at least eight more windows to clean every week.

I’m waffling and moaning again, aren’t I. Sorry. I blame Duodenal Donald and the mess I find all around me. The coping with it mission is impossible to deal with and as for the cleaning up after… Still, as Jenny said: Just turn-off and go with the flow! Jenny knows best!

Duodenal Donald was getting a bit more intense, worst he’s been for a long time. Tsk!
Ruined the day for me that has. Big Bad John will no doubt start his banging about shortly, as it is the weekend after all.

2Tue08eWDP001A Got the computer on and began finalising yesterday’s post. I was doing well, and working between two sites, when the Internet went down, only for a short time, but enough for me to lose some graphics work I was making. Humph!

Eventually, I got the post finished. On to WordPress Reader, then comments. Made a start on this one.

Had a glass of milk, hoping it would appease Duodenal Donald, and tried to go on Facebook. It was okay for a few minutes. When I went to the TFZer site and slow, slower… Humph!

Ablutions carried out.

6Sat091000hrs: Dressed and I set off to call at the Social Shed on the way to catch at the first bus up to Mapperley.

Noticed the electronic sign as I got out of the elevator. Light rain and a decently high 5°c indicated on display.

A man and woman and Jenny in there when I arrived. Had a gossiping session. Jenny told me 6Sat10she had given the Moussaka meals to a lady resident who is not very well, and she appreciated the muchly as she could not get out to shop. Jenny doing this made my day, it is lovely to be able to help others, especially those in need. Thanks, Jenny!

The couple were also going to Aldi to do some shopping. I went up on the bus to the top of Mapperley with them. By gum, they moved quickly. Soon as they were off the bus, I was in their wake as like Olympians (compared to me anyway, hehe) they shot off to the Aldi store for some nibbles. Lovely couple.

6Sat11 (2)I ambled around and got £17.60 worth of fodder. No sign of the couple from the flats, I had a look from the checkouts, but couldn’t see them. We were going to catch the bus back together.

Had a little Dizzy-Dennis session, so I waited a while before leaving. Cleared up in a couple of minutes.

6Sat18

6Sat11 (2)Yellow lines= Hobbling, red lines= on the bus.

Coming out of the store, I picked my way through the compost from the split bags that were on display in front of the shop.

I set off on a mini-hobble along Mapperley top and right down Winchester Street.

6Sat12aI saw the Belle Vue Lodge Home as I turned the corner.

I read on the web, on the NHS site: “Belle Vue Lodge is a modern nursing home, equipped and staffed for specialist nursing needs, including dementia care for which all care staff are expertly trained. All of the home’s 59 bedrooms are single en-suite and have walk-in shower facilities to suit those with mobility issues, having been purpose-built to welcome a wide range of complex care needs. Relaxing lounges with thoughtful decor and views are a feature. Modern care technology, resident internet connection, TV in each room, including nurse call systems, function alongside homely comforts to make for a relaxing day-to-day lifestyle. I loved that bit: homely comforts to make for a relaxing day-to-day lifestyle. Relaxing, blimey would many of my fellow Woodthorpe Court tenants and I love and long for relaxing!

The downer is; that the charges for old and disabled folk in this place, start at only £689 a week. If you have special needs, you’ll pay more of course. I couldn’t find the top-end charges. Hehe!

6Sat15As I carefully made my way down Winchester Street hill and the apartment building in which I dwell came into view, I took this picture of the flats. Not a soul in sight.

As I noticed the hoist supports and cranes around the battered flats, I put down the heavy bag of shopping to ease Arthur Itis for a few moments. As I stood there, feeling sorry for myself, my thoughts wandered. The mess from the windows, the mess from the balcony, the holes left in the wall and floor from the heaters being fitted. New curtains will be needed. A new floor in the kitchen required. A dread of the new sprinkler system being fitted and the further upheaval this will bring. Same with the upcoming new alarm fitting and communication system will precipitate failed appointments from the workers, dust, grit, gravel… Force me to change medical appointments again. Am I doomed to live what life I have left in a lugubriousness mode? The new balconies to be fitted, with their eight or nine more windows that will need cleaning. Will Little Inchies bleeding lesion ever get healed? Will Hippy Hilda slip out again? Damned Duodenal Donald needs some different medication that is effective. Can they ever get the Warfarin INR level right? Will the computer play-up once more today? How many wrong number calls will I get this weekend? Will Big Bad John be making noises again? No forget that one, it’s the only unfaltering bit of things in life that is, he will be making loud sounds again! Did I leave the tap running in the sink?

The shpilkes suddenly concentrated on that last thought. Picked up the bag and hobbled at the best speed I could manage, back to the flat to see if I had left the tap running.

The distress of not knowing was appeased when I got in the apartment to find the taps had not been left running. Sad innit?

6Sat16Got the purchases out and put away. Well, not the cottage pie. I got the oven warming up while I added a ton or two of grated cheese and sliced tomatoes on top of the meal in readiness for when the oven heated up sufficiently.

Got the hemadynamometer and did the Health Checks and medicationalisationing.

The noise began from Big Bad John up above.

WDP001A Putting the tray and pie in the oven, I singed a couple of finger ends. Smelt a little bit like burnt sausages? Tsk!
Applied a little Germolen cream.

6Sat17 Got the nosh prepared on the blue tin plate.

I added two slices of the great tasting Scottish Plain bread and dribbled some soy and balsamic vinegar mixture on top of them.

It looked jolly appetising. But, it was like a promise from a politician, disappointing!

The pie was only average, the red onions had gone off, and the chips were unexpectedly tasteless, flavourless and insipid. The bread was good, mind.

Nodded off soon after eating this meal. Woke and got the last Health Checks done. Tended to the medicalisationing needed, and got down to watch a DVD of Steve Coogan.

Couldn’t stay awake and nodded off again, but not for long, thanks to Big Bad John. Hell of a bang from his flat woke me, then another one arrived, this is how I worked out it must have been him in the first place waking me up.

Then, I had trouble getting bad into the land of Nod. So I turned on the TV.

That did the trick! Off I nodded.

Inchcock Today – Friday 23rd March 2018

Friday 23rd March 2018

Maltese: Il-Ġimgħa 23 ta ‘Marzu 2018

0155hrs: Woke-up, stomach feeling bloated. Out of the £300 second-hand recliner without any problems, and off for a wee-wee. The lesion was bleeding badly. No doubt the low INR warfarin reading having something to do with it. Decided to get caught up with the laundry duties. I’ll get a quick wash going, and put the things in the dryer when done. 5Fri001Then and start another quick wash and when that one is completed, add that to the others in the dryer. I can get caught up that way. With all the recent Nottingham City Homes jobs done and the extra medical appointments, I have enough dirty clobber to fill the machine twice. Messy, but must be done. Out with the first bag and into the lift.

5Fri001bDown and getting out of the lift by 0208hrs!

No messy-about this morning, I seemed to have been gifted vitality, vigour and verve? Hippy Hilda and Arthur Itis no bother at all. Duodenal Donald and the innards were the only things giving me any hassle, and this was slight. Yet again, a different pensioner waked up than the one yesterday!

5Fri005Got the machine going and nipped outside to take a photo of Chestnut Way.

Back up to the flat and got the weekly tablet dosage pots sorted out.

In a flash, I was going back down with the second bag of washing. Got the just cleaned stuff into the drier, and restarted another quick cycle with the clothes I’d taken down this time.

5Fri007And boy did that washing machine shake, rattle and nearly roll off of its plinth.

The noise must have been heard on the floor above. When I put my hand on the top of it, it dimmed the sound a bit, and I stayed holding it until the spin cycle had stopped.

I kept on shaking for a while though. Hehe!

5Fri002Back up again to the apartment.

Made a brew of Olde English Tea in the little cup, and when I got the milk out of the fridge, saw the two remaining Morrison’s vegetable Moussaka meals. The one I tried last night, tasted okay. But there was far too much courgettes and aubergines in it. Don’t get me wrong, I love these veggies, but they are on my barred list of foods from the Haematology and Anticoagulation Clinic. Had there been just a little of them, it would have been fine. But there was an awful lot. So, I dare not risk eating anymore. I shall seek a vegetarian 5Fri006living in the flats, or see if Jenny would like to have them.

Back down to the laundry room again and got the second load from the washer and added it to the others in the dryer.

Popped out of the foyer and took this semi-moody photograph of the rain covered Chestnut Way.

5Fri003Up once again in the lift to the flat.

Had a wee-wee, and as I was taking this photograph. It dawned on that I had received no interest from the innards regarding a Porcelain Throne requirement?

I refilled the laundry bag with air spray, topped 5Fri004up the crystals and soap capsules tub ready for the next laundry session. I took it into the spare room and spotted this pigeon on the hoist supports, with its head down, bless. How his eyes opened so quickly when I took the picture, to enable me to catch them open surprised me. The camera did flash, though.

Where will they sleep when the scaffolding comes down? Plenty of droppings piling up on the bars. Hehe!

5Fri008I made another brew, had a wee-wee, washed the pots from last night and started the computer and did some prep work.

It was soon time for me to go down to the laundry room again, to collect the clothing and clean the machines and filter.

5Fri009There were two new information signs up on the notice board in the lift foyer area. They sort of shouted out the messages. I got a headache reading them! Hahaha!

A tenant arrived in the laundry room as I was emptying the dryer of clothes and things.

She is one who has a washing machine in their flats and just needs to facilitate the dryers in our laundry room.

We chatted (Me mostly) and had a laugh or two. When the lady checked the filter on the other dryer next to the one I was using. You should have seen the fluff in it! I’ve never seen it so full. We said our farewells, and off she went back up to her flat. I noticed after she had gone, a sign on the dryer she was using read: ‘Fault, please close the filter door’. Good job I was there because otherwise, she would have come down again in an hour to find her washing still wet. I was so glad to able to do something to help someone at last and be there at the time. I pressed the door too until it clicked, and the machine started working again on its own.

5Fri010I got the things folded, then into my laundry bag.

Guess what… Another odd sock! Damnations!

I cleaned the drums, sink and surfaces, and set off to the elevator.

5Fri0110419hrs, and 6°c – 42.8°f indicated on the electronic information board. I thought I’d done well to get it all finished by now.

But, of course, there were still many jobs I would have done by now, had I not done the laundry, that still needed doing, so my chirpiness wained a little. Hehe!

Got in the apartment, and stored the washing away. Had a wee-wee.

Got the Health Checks done. Sys, Dia and pulse all down a bit, after being high for a few days.

5Fri012

P1270944Took the medications with a cup of milk. WH01b As I grabbed the carton of liquid, it gave way, and the milk shot put all over the fridge, floor and me. Got it cleaned up with just one difficulty involved. Getting back up after I’d wiped the stuff off of the floor tiles.

Gumph!

5Fri013Back to the computer. Updated this post.

I feared the worst when the Porcelain Throne was at last needed. For there have been no rumbling or grumblings from the stomach at all. Just a feeling that things were distended. I need not have worried. Solid and heavy, yes, but no bleeding or straining whatsoever. Out of the ordinary maybe, but a welcome change in the evacuationalistical department. Phew!

Started the ablutions early again today. Cause the bloke says, he is calling at 0900hrs to do the panelling under the balcony doors. We’ll see.

No idea when the holes and plastering repairs will be done.

5Fri014Got the ablutions tended to. The medicationalisationing went well too.

Got the Moussaka meals and poddled to the Temporary Oberbruppenfureress Wardens Offices and Social Shed. Where, much to my delights, Jenny was setting up the things for the sale later today. She looked grand but was having trouble with her back again. We had a nattering session, and she took the Moussaka meals off my hands for me.

5Fri015The rain had stopped, but more was forecast on the radio when I was shaving, and tonight they said to expect down to -4°c (24.8°f). Brr! And all those holes in the wall and windows as well! Grumph!

The Willmott-Brown lads were up on the hoist again, dangerous work.

Up to the apartment, had a wee-wee and continued to update this post.

0925hrs: Big John upstairs was clattering about noisily again. And, the work chap who promised he’d be here for 0900hrs, still had not arrived!

I visited the WordPress comments and replied to them. Then on to the WordPress Reader.

Tried to go on Facebooking. It let me post some photos to the albums, but so slowly. I tried TFZing, but the thing just crawled almost to a stop. I’ve asked a bloke to have a look. He might see me on Wednesday PM.

The work bloke arrived around 1015hrs and set to work. Obergruppenfhureress Warden Julie paid a visit just before he said he had to finish, and had to shoot off quickly and was sorry for the mess he had to leave. He did rehang the curtains for me, though.

I got the mushroom in the saucepan simmering with balsamic vinegar and a pinch of onion salt. Then got the chips int the oven cooking.

Carried on with updating this post.

P1270957Then when the fodder was ready, I got it served up.

Mixed results came from this meal. The potato croquettes were bland and tasteless 2/10, The skinless sausages bitter 0/10 (Not eaten), the tomatoes fair at 6/10, apple slices 6/10, the mushrooms good at 8.8/10. The canned pork knuckle gets a 9.25/10, excellent!

Did the Health Checks etc..

The regular fatigue hit me, I put the plate down, turned on the TV and fell asleep.

WH01b I woke to the accompaniment of what appeared to be klaxons sounding. I just caught hearing the end of them. I was confused somewhat, never having listened to this sound before. I had no idea of course, what it was or where it came from. I forced myself out of the £300 second-hand recliner and took the food tray with me into the kitchen and dropped them in the washing-up bowl and took a look out of the window to see if any emergency vehicles were on site that may have been the reason for this klaxon sounding. But the new layout of the window meant I could not see the ground below at all. I went to check the front door, no sounds were emanating from out there. I began to think I might have heard the alarm in a dream. I nipped into the wet room for a wee-wee. Back to the recliner and had a super-painful toe-stub against the cracked plaster on the frame. I never discovered if the noise was real or dreamt.

Head down again, sleep dawned and off into blissful rest.

WH01b Not for long. Woke again and the warm-wet sensation from the lower regions indicated that I needed to change the PPs. Reluctantly I escaped from the recliner… and trod on a small lump of concrete or cement whatever from the window workings! This made me jump and sod-me – I stubbed the same flipping toe against the Ottoman!

It’s not been a particularly good day. Hehe!

TTFN.

Inchcock Today – Thursday 22nd March 2018

Thursday 22nd March 2018

Cebuano: Huwebes Marso 22, 2018

0300hrs: I instantly stirred into imitation life of sorts. The brain caught up, and I mused over the day required actions. Get up and crack on with finishing the two-part Wednesday blog. Morrison delivery is due twixt 0630>0730hrs. Dentist appointment at 0930hrs. This was enough to fully engage the available grey-cells for the moment. Looking around at the mess from the upgrade work, prevented me from welcoming the day.

An ethereality lingered and tormented me. A feeling of certainty of the absence of any afflatus’ or creative impulses or ideas, ensured my characteristics and attitude would start off as one of diffidence and floccinaucinihilipilification. (I knew one day this word would fit the bill to use one of my blogs, Hehe!).

I unwillingly coerced and disencumbered my aged-body from the £300 second-hand recliner, and to the kitchen to do the Health Checks and take the medications. Quite how the dust from the window upgrading had gotten into the tablet compartments with closed lids and placed in a drawer, will have to remain a conundrum for now.

Huh! Now I have to dust the tablets, capsules and pills before I can take them!

I managed to get the camera out of the crack in the window to take a shot down below. But the new ledge outside is far too broad and long for me to be able to get a clear shot.

04Thur04Off to the Porcelain Throne. A little less bleeding this morning from the front end, but the usual for the last two days. Then the flood from the rear end from Harold’s Haemorrhoids.

Got the computer on. It’s Lynda Lores Birthday today, I must make time to do a Happy Birthday graphic and hope the Facebook lets me work, for the lass.

Made a start on the first part of the Wednesday double post. Got it finished and then did the second part. Posted them both off.

Did the second Health Checks

The Morrison delivery arrived. No substitutions. Showed the driver the state of the flat. Got some sympathy from him, bless his cotton socks.

04Thur050810hrs: All readied, and I set off for the Dentists.

Over the road, and up the gravel hill, passing the tree copse on the way.

A lot of dogs taking their owners for a walk. One of them allowed me to fuss their terrier when it came to me. I have to say I enjoyed doing this and seeing her little tail wagging.

04Thur07Down the park path onto Mansfield Road, up over the crest and down to the dentists.

A confusion, come maze of plastic fencing greeted me. Some roadworks were in operation.

Luckily they had left just enough room for me to follow the fencing to the dentist front door.

I only got up the steps and two paces further, and I found myself at the end of the queue of patients in line, waiting to record their presence with the receptionists. As this column slowly got shorter, a nurse came down the stair and called out a ladies name, to go up with her to one of the surgeries. A woman behind me answered: “I’m here, still waiting to sign in!” Hehe! It doesn’t seem to matter where I go, mayhem is there!

After a while, I got to the desk and discovered that these receptionist are nearly in the same class as the Lidl and Audio Centre staff. Not as down-putting as the Lidl ones are, and they do not have similar quality sneers as the Audio ones, pretty snotty and they have a decent “Don’t bother me ‘unspoken’ stare” that is pretty intimidating. Also, their Smirks and Sideways Glances were excellent. After she told me I was too early and gave me some forms to fill-in, feeling penitential and ashamed of myself, I sat down and got on with doing a crossword.

A threatening looking dentist assistant with tattoos on both arms approached me and instructed me to follow her. When she saw I was struggling a bit with my efforts to stand and walk, she offered to carry my bag upstairs for me.

In the surgery, the male dentist Dr Vitesh Patel greeted me with all the false-enthusiasm of Jeremy Clarkson when not being fed! He quickly got me on the chair and leaning backwards and checked the teggies. As last time six months earlier, he carried out his fetish on the same tooth with the same words, as he did his best to break through with one of his metal probes. On about his fifth stab at it: “There is a tiny hole in this tooth, it might need a filling” I replied: “I’m not surprised, if you don’t stop sticking that thing into it, it’ll be a big hole!” He was not impressed and lost interest. Just like the last visit, he took some X-rays of the same teeth as on that visit. He looked at the gap in the missing tooth at the front and said. Does this bother you? No, I replied. “Okay I’ll leave it then” he responded. Telling me things are okay and assisted me out of the chair.

After ten minutes, if that, I was back downstairs paying the Oberleutnantess receptionist £20.60 for the pleasure. I asked if they could make the appointment for 12 months instead of six. “Not without the Dentists instructions and permission I can’t” Backed-up with a look of incredulousness mingled with a hint of scepticalness. I lied outright and said he did say so! Eventually, after much pondering, she made it for nine months.

I said my farewells and made my way limpingly out into the daylight. Yesterday’s marathon was beginning to make the plates-of-meat really tender and painful now. I dawdled slowly along back the way I came. To the park, and up the footpath. Another dog approached me for some fuss. A long-haired black terrier of some sort. He got plenty from me, and the lady owner said thank you to me as I moved on? Truly amazing, that’s three unknown to me dogs in a few days that have sought me out for some fuss?

04Thur08Up to the top of the hill, and near the tree copse, I stopped on the bottom of the gravel path to take this photograph of the hoist and workers on my floor of the apartments.

The feet were even worse now, really stinging.

But it’s my own fault for walking so far yesterday, innit? Hehe!

I got to the flat, and picked up the raffle prizes and box of nibbles, and back out to the Obergruppenfurheress Wardens Temporary Shed, for the Winwood Tenants Social Hour. Jenny was looking particularly pretty this morning. Cindy was in good form. Cath was too. Everyone there, apart from Big John, seemed in better spirits than of late. I had a chinwag with each of them in turn. (Well, not Big John!). Handed the raffle prize in, and took the nibble-box around, having a laugh here and there as I did so. Got some raffle tickets and handed them out to others. Stayed beyond the hour this time. Enjoyed it.

Back to the flat, had a wee-wee, did the Health Checks.

04Thur11

Got the food in the oven tray ready to cook later, turned the oven on to warm up. A ready-made vegetarian moussaka. I added tons of extra grated cheese and some sliced tomatoes on top of it. Some battered onions ready to add later. Got a few red onion slices on the plate.

P1270930Started to do this blog. After a few hours the door chime rang-out. It was young bloke from Willmot-Brown. Came to measure the gap left at the bottom of the balcony door.

I let him in and started telling him about the curtain not being replaced and how I could not manage it on the steps. This made no impression, other than he asked which team did the window. I didn’t know, did I.

He finished measuring and said he would be back tomorrow to fill in the holes in the floor and apply the plastic board on top.

I updated the calendar and diary with the dates for the next dentist visit, Wednesdays INR blood test and the Morrison delivery.

Did the Health Checks etc.

Back to updating this diary.

Went to the WordPress reader page. Then did some commenting.

Facebook no letting me import to photo albums. Going too slow and sticking. Grr! Poor Lynda Lore! Well, I can wish her love and happiness for her Special Day, with a cyber cuddle and gentle non-intrusive massage too! XXX ♥♥♥

Got the oven on.

Nosh – Nice but far too many courgettes and aubergines, especially with the INR Warfarin level being so low.

I picked a lot of them out of the meal, to be on the safe side.

I bought these, cause they were on offer at 3 for £6. I’ll have to give the other two away if we have any vegetarians in the block.

Utterly shattered and tired out, I fell asleep after eating the meal. Woke and got up around 0200hrs!

Inchcock Today – Sunday 14th January 2018: Bonkesness came forth

Sunday 14th January 2018

Igbo: Sunday 14 Jenụwarị 2018

0230hrs: Not sleep much at all last night. The brain kept me awake with its noegenesis activities. But none of its ramblings and conclusions made much sense. It kept wandering, escaping from my already limited control; Off on its autonomous, intermittent spontaneous random creating of judgments on and solutions to just about anything and everything. All bunkum, drivel, fiddle-faddle, impracticable hogwash, poppycock, and nonsensical claptrap. I think I failed to regain any modicum of authority, over the grey-cells. I reckon because I was so tired and in need of sleep that these thoughts and aimless wanderings won, and I gave up. And just went along with it all, diffidently.

Sleep did not come. But, the digressional meandering mind stopped and returned to semi-logicality abruptly when it had to deal with a demand for my utilisationing of the Porcelain Throne, suddenly and urgently! It would take several paragraphs to explain adequately the activities and incidents that followed on the trip to and in the Wet Room. (Farcical seems to cover it!) I tripped getting out of the £300 second-hand recliner. The remote control for the DVD fell off my lap, I stubbed my toe on the Ottoman and knocked over an empty (Luckily) bottle of spring water.

Got to the wet room and seated, once again, only just in time; Spurt, trickle yellow, done! Almost totally liquid. It seems that Trotsky Terence has a grip on me now. Cleaned everything up and knocked my head on the sink doing so.

Returned to the front room. Where a search for the remote control proved fruitless? I got down on the floor with the torch to look underneath the chairs, but no luck. Getting back up into a perpendicular position was a painful and lengthy exercise.

My recent thirstiness has not assuaged, and I made my way into the kitchen and made a mug of tea in the new one.

Then I did the Health Checks and took the morning medications. I dropped the dosage pot and had to replace some tablets that fell out onto the floor.

This further bending down started Reflux Roger and Hippy Hilda off. Humph!

Washed up and got the vegetables prepared and in the crock-pot ready to cook later.

Today’s selection is the last of mushrooms quartered, the sugar-snap peas, sliced red onion, and tomatoes.

I added some vegetable stock to the water. After which I noticed that it had (Oh dear) a sell-by date of January 2017 written on the box. So I dished it in the waste bin bag. Hoping that the vegetables be okay to eat?

In actual fact, bearing in mind the lack of rest and the Whoopsiedangleplops, I was feeling in fair condition. Which confused me a tad.

0325hrs: I got the computer on and finished off yesterdays diary and got it posted. Then made a start on this one.

0600hrs: I went in the kitchen to make about the eighth mug of tea. Flipping thirst!

It didn’t feel too cold or wet or windy when I opened the window and hung out to take these photographicalisations.

The one thing that struck me more than anything was that I had my hearing aids in and could have the pleasure of listening to the birds and chics giving it some wallop with their whistling, chirping and singing.

As I leaned on the ledge, enjoying the morning chorus, something flew passed quickly between me and the ground. I wondered if it might have been a bat? It would have been on the floor below level and was a black blur. But it might have been too large for a Pipistrellus? Do crows fly at night? The mass of Nottinghamian’s resting or working, burgling, mugging below, made me… Hello, the grey-cells are wondering again. Why can’t I just see a photograph without investigative delving into and getting insights and sub-messages from the brain, lately?

I reached here in the updating and went on the WordPress Reader. Some good stuff on there today.

Did the WordPress comment responses next.

Then on Facebooking.

0820hrs: Made yet another brew of tea and went on CorelDraw.

I’m a busy-bee this morning. Made up an Ode to the Night’s Thoughts regarding the top paragraph on here, using CorelDraw: Ode to the Nights Thoughts Got it sent off.

Checked the crock-pot vegetables. Coming on nicely.

Hello, Herberts knocking away again. Tsk! Still, not to bad at the moment, just the odd bang.

Sod-it! The funny turns have started. going to get down and put a DVD on and hopefully fall asleep, blimey I need it. Poor thing, Hehe!

I don’t know what went wrong with this unfinished post, but for some reason I forgot to post it? Probably when Virgin internet went down?

For what it’s worth. Here it is. Sorry folks.

Inchcock Today – Monday 19th March 2018

Monday 19th March 2018

Gujarati: સોમવાર 19 મી માર્ચ 2018

0200hrs: I lay trying to recall a dream I think I’d just been having. I was in a swimming pool, filled with Engraulidae, with several people walking around throwing water on the anchovies from an aspergillum. On a tannoy system someone was asking me to answer quiz-like questions I knew nothing about and could not give an answer too. The voice said I must provide a solution or a fish would be killed for every one I fail to respond to. I was a right blatherskite in answering and made no sense at all, but the voice accepted every muttering I spouted as being the correct response? The recall gets very vague here, I have no idea what happened after this. I thought about getting back to sleep to see if I could get back the same dream.

0230hrs: The need for a wee-wee prevented me doing this. I disentangled my short, plump blubbery mass from the £300 second-hand recliner, and off to the wet room for my wee-wee. Far less bleeding this morning from the fungal lesion.

Washed and cleaned up and into the kitchen to see what the weather was like.

There were no signs of any snow falling. But the already settled dollop made this photograph rather pretty, I thought.

An Active-Warning was on the BBC site for Ice in Nottingham. When I took this photo of below the kitchen window, I could see they were right, too

The glistening does not show up in the picture, but it was unmistakably going to be risky walking underfoot on roads or sidewalks when I get out later.

I made a mug of extra-strong tea, then wondered if this was such a good idea when I had to return to the wet room for another wee-wee. It dawned on me then, no signs of needing the Porcelain Throne yet? I sensed problems might arise later.

Coming out of the wet room, I noticed something had been posted through the letterbox and had floated over and under the radiator. Being careful not to bang my head against the radiator this time, I bent down to retrieve the notice… and clouted my elbow on the heater instead. Hehe!

The leaflet was a warning of what was about to occur in the next stage of the flats upgrading. Then pamphlet was dated Friday 16th March, but I’m sure it only arrived yesterday, on Sunday? Unless I had not noticed it under the radiator? It included:

Tuesday 20th March (1-day notice given)  And a PM arrival. That will help me to get some sleep a lot. To:

  • Tuesday 20 March PM: Check area is clear to ALL windows – Check access to balcony area to demolish the wall and install protection screen.
  • Warning that the day before your windows are to be installed, you will see operatives on the balcony removing the outer leaf of the wall – they will not need access.
  • Wednesday 21 March AM: Install protection screen, Demolish wall, remove old windows and door and replace with new.

This will prevent me going out today, as moving all the gear and furniture to give them access to the windows and balcony is not going to be an easy job for me to do. So I’ll have to work slowly and carefully on the task to get it all done in time. Hippy Hilda, Arthur Itis and Anne Gyna permitting, of course. Feeling a little apprehensive about this, but its got to be one. I’ll nip to the Obergruppenfurhress Wardens Shed and get clarification on what need doing around 0900hrs.

All this hassle does me no good. I fret and panic nowadays with change, pathetic, I, know. Just sorting the paperwork will take hours.

I admire how some of the tenants have coped with having their apartments done. Maybe it is easier for the couples in situ, than the single occupants, but hey, what do I know about couples! (Desirous plea for someone to adopt me here, I think? Haha!)

Back and got the Health Checks done and medications were taken. Made up the INR record on Excel for the week.

Got the computer on and finished off yesterdays blog. Rushing about a bit now so I can make time before I fall to sleep, to get as much work done on moving the furniture, boxes, wardrobes, bags, cleaning material, stuff off of the shelves. And, to file and store them, run through the paperwork etc. In readiness for the window workers arrival, and get it moved into the files boxes. The grey-cells are racing away, but the body is refusing to go at the same rate of knots! When I finish starting this diary off, I’ll make a start on the front room rearranging, cause that will take the longest time to get done. The most-gruelling work will be the unused apart from as a junk room, bedroom. Not looking forward to that, its bound to set one of the ailments off.

Got this post started up to here.

A quick blast on the WordPress Reader. Then the comments were read and replied to. There are some great posts on the site today.

Facebooking tried. Slow, but got through it.

Started to create a TFZer graphic.

Bondi Beach, with the adorable Marie and me in the rocks. Roxie is keeping her eye on the nosh I’m carrying, of course.

Tended to the ablutions and medicating procedures next.

Got myself wrapped up and off out to the Obergruppefureresses Temporary Wood and plastic shed, to ask advice on the two-day builders visit, and to check if the weather conditions out there would permit me to get out today.

As I opened the door at the end of the flat’s entrance into the elevator foyer. The icy-wind blew in my face, making me shudder and shiver a bit. Brr!

I could hear the wind blowing too. Things did not bode too well for my planned get about session today.

A closer look at where the wind was coming in from, revealed a two layer of iced-up snow in the bottom holding tray under the slatted vents that go through to outside.

With this, and the upcoming window and balcony work starting tomorrow for two days, I thought my immediate prospects of any warmth in the flat to be minimal.

Down in the elevator, it took a while some workers were bringing up window frames etc.

As I departed the building out of the foyer doors, the sight that greeted me, made my mind up straight away, I will not be going out anywhere.

As I got beyond what little bit of cover there was from the scaffolding, the snow and ice made me shiver even more!

Thre weren’t many people about, and they were taking their time on the lethal surface of the road. My slip-defying creep along to the shed, took ages, as I tried to avoid the worst patches of sheet ice.

I ended up walking on the road along Chestnut Walk.

I must have looked a little odd as I made my way along.

A lot of ice was under the snow, and some it compacted. Finding any free bits to walk on was impossible until I was close to the Warden’s Hut.

Things looked terribly bleak out there.

I ended up walking in the middle of the road on a bit of ice-free patches. But of course along came a car wishing to exit the site, and it was back to hobbling on the ice for me.

About 0910hrs, I arrived at the hut, I entered and the Obergruppenfurheress Wardens Deana and Julie were in their office, both on the phone. Cath, the on-site resident Liasion Officer, was not present. But about six builders or window fitters were, they were having something to eat and a warming drink before starting work.

I waited a while until they had finished their communications, and went in. They seemed happy enough. It must be hectic for them on a Monday, with the weekend’s problems to discover and sort-out. I mentioned the noise from Herbert. I found out his real name is John. He is a lot younger than me, and a big bloke. This cheered me up no end!

I asked what needed to be done in readiness for the two-day frenetic, tumultuous work mess and session. “Just leave free access to all the windows and balcony”. Julie asked if they should go and sort me out now. I declined the offer. (I regret doing that now!) Thanked them, handed a fancy cup over for the Residents Raffle and said my farewells.

As I left the shed, the ground around was littered with icicles that had come off of the roof. Some builder chaps were walking along spreading grit on the roadway. Much appreciated by me, I can tell you.

As I made my way precariously back to the flat, I recalled Mary and Cindy telling on different occasions, that there new balcony and everyone’s, was left unsealed for two days, as were the windows. With -4°c forecast for the next two nights, the gale coming in through the outside vents and having mine done… I felt trepidation and the knowledge that I was going to be very cold shortly in the flat! Strewth, it’s cold enough now!

Entered the foyer, made way through several window fitters and their glass and frames and got in the lift.

A bit of sun broke through the clouds as got in the kitchen. I was in a thoroughly disconcerted state of mind at this point. I did the Health Checks Again! Realised what the time was, before I took the medications, luckily.

A tad concerned about this, because I had not had any Dizzies or Funny Turns at all? Something else to mention to the Doctor. That is if the weather will let me get to see her on Wednesday.

Took this photograph, of the hoist below, where the workers were making there way up to remove the outer leaf of my front and bedroom walls. Hence, my fear of getting too cold when it is done, cause apparently, it stays like this for several days before the work is completed. Those who have had theirs done inform me. Not to mention the horrendous noise they have to make doing it.

I set about sorting the access to the bedroom (Spare room) and titivating things a bit. I was doing so well, then Dizzy Dennis gave me a visit. I pressed on afterwards to finish I hope, the clearance. But gave up thinking of doing any more.

Made a brew and got the computer on to update this post. I don’t know how I will manage for the next few days, cause I’ll be in the worker’s way and the dust and noise would prevent me working on the computer anyway. Fingers crossed, but I might have to give it a break for a while, and I do love doing this blog. I’ll see how it goes.

Updated to this point, and went on CorelDraw to do some Diary top graphics.

Got this one of Thomas finished and posted off to the site.

Nipped on Facebook, but things were sticking and oh so slow again. Came off and back to CorelDrawing.

So disappointing!

Back CorelDrawing.

Completed Sandies Latest Film.

Then got the nosh all ready for gobbling up.

I struggled to stay awake while I was cooking this meal.

1Mon09And when it came to settling in the £300 second-hand chair to watch a DVD and eat the meal, it was the same. In fact, I think I might have fallen asleep while consuming it.

I wobbled off into the kitchen to wash the plate and cutlery. Feeling remarkably contented for some unknown reason?

1Mon10The sky looked so beautiful tonight.

Feeling sure that I would get some sleep, due to my feeling drowsy so early, to be on safe side, I put the TV on. Anticipating the arrival of the land of Nod.

But no, somehow I stayed awake through nearly a full episode of ‘Hustle’!

I woke, hearing noises. But could not identify what they were or where they were from?

I got up to have a wee-wee, and had to change PPs due to some bleeding from the haemorrhoids, stubbed my toe on the way back, got down in the recliner, and knocked the bottle of lemon and lime spring water off of the Ottoman, swore to myself, got up and kitchen-towelled the carpet and got my head down again. Off to sleep in seconds, hours later than usual, but still.

Inchcock Today – Sunday 18th March 2018

Sunday 18th March 2018

Icelandic: Sunnudagur 18 Mars 2018

0300hrs: No need for me to waken and wait for the brain to join the body this morning. I didn’t have any sleep last night at all. Depressingly, my night’s activities were: Watching the platitudinous, banal TV, listening to Herbert in the flat above banging about and getting up now and then to take a photograph of the snow. Sad, or what?

Off to the kitchen to do the Health Checks and take the medications.

-3°c outside, and it felt the same inside. And, I can hear you asking how is that then. This is because this old fart left the window open when he took his last picture hours ago! Humph!

I took these two photographs of the conditions outside. It looked a bit bleak. Another day of hibernating and vegetating indoors methinks. There are no buses anyway on a Sunday. Mind you, if there were, I don’t think they would get up or down the Winchester Street Hill anyway. My mind seemed to be concentrating on the negative side of things and life this cold morning.

I made a brew in the small mug, and I had some extra milk in it than usual, because Duodenal Donald was giving me some terrible stick.

The fears and worries in my confused brain were natatorial, flashing and annoying me. Because I was not in a frame of mind, to concentrate very well. I expect this was due to the total lack of sleep.

I started on finishing off yesterday’s diary. Got it completed and posted off, then the sudden grumbling and rumbling in the innards forced me to the Porcelain Throne; and what a session it was. So much blood from Harold’s Haemorrhoids and Little inchies Lesion, it startled even me for a while. Deep red and lots of it. Medication and cleansed thing up. Duodenal Donald continued with such enthusiasm, I began to feel a bit atrabilious, and the stomach started to feel… what’s the word for it? Delicate, with a new to me, aching just below the belly button. It felt tight, yet wobbly. No that isn’t the words. Tsk!

I wonder if Noisy Herbert above will start with his banging and knocking about again today? Silly question, of course, he will, it’s the weekend!

Off to the kitchen to make a brew. Knocking things like the tray, bottles of vinegar and sauce and the crock-pot off of the counter as went in. Purely luck, that they fell into the rubbish bins, thus saving any noise to upset my neighbours. No question about my worrying about Herbert above, sometimes I wish I could make return noises that just affect him. But not this morning, I have no energy left to waste on hatred or revenge.

No question about it, I’m feeling snarky, ratty, and crotchety with myself. I’m a grumpy lad indeed.

Had a wee-wee. Made another brew.

I got this post started off.

Returned to the kitchen, with a feeling of dread that I might have left the tap (faucet) running in the sink. Thankfully all was okay and no calamities.

I took a picture o this rather picturesque scene of one of the roads opposite.

It looked like no one had been walking on the snow in this road. Ramsdale Crescent I think it is named. If anyone has to go out from there, they may have troubles. Mind you, it might thaw out quickly yet?

I did notice down below, somebody had had the pleasure of being the first person to walk along Chestnut Walk.

I went to Facebooking next. Praying that it will not freeze on me again.

Virgin Media Internet Down Again! As Tim Price, cleverly put it in an email to me: “Virgin should just give you an Internet voodoo kit with pigeon feathers, monkey blood, sparrow bones, an eye of newt and bat guano to use for incantations, hocus pocus and giving your router a magical stink eye. It’s more fun than simply unplugging, waiting five minutes and all that stuff.”

Turned everything off and rebooted to see if that would help me get back on the internet supplied and increased in charge five times by Virgin Media!

Tried resetting without any luck, still two blue lights not lit on the box.

Unplugged the unreliable, unconcerned cause they still take the money each month Virgin box. Left it a few minutes and replugged it and turned on again. Nothing. Well, fancy that. Hehehe, I like it!

A wee-wee and I stewed wondering how I could get my own back at the Cable Cowboys Liberty Global who lassoed Virgin Media with a huge £15bn deal. They also have bought Formula 1 racing business, All3Media (50% ownership with Discovery Communications) ITV plc (United Kingdom) (9.9% shareholding). Deep breath: Lionsgate (12% ownership with Discovery Communications), Telenet (Belgium) (58% ownership), Viceland Belgium (a joint venture with Vice Media), UPC Broadband, UPC Austria, UPC Czech Republic, UPC Magyarország (Hungary). UPC Polska (Poland), UPC Romania, UPC Slovakia, UPC Switzerland, e-fon (49% ownership), UPC DTH, UPC Direct (Hungary), Freesat (the Czech Republic and Slovakia), Focus Sat (Romania), Unitymedia (Germany). Liberty Puerto Rico, a provider of pay TV, Internet, and telephone services, CWC’s operations in Seychelles, named Cable and Wireless Seychelles. Or rather, billion-billionaire top Chairman, Michael T Fries, who earns $111.9million a year. And that is only from one of his companies. Naturally, he must get expenses as well and besides.

I wonder if he is even aware of the pathetic performance and demoralised staff and customers since his take-over? Potato cakes with cheese and tomatoes baked, sliced apple, beetroot, BBQ nibbles, red onion, pork pie with crust removed (The weight you know? Haha!), roast courgettes, parsnip and peppers. Lemon Mousse to finish off with. Mmm! Wish I could have made one for my TFZers to dine with me. Humph!

https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.virginmedia.com I’ve read on Trust Pilot about people trying to cancel contracts with this esurient gentleman’s company.

Anyway, after deciding I can’t get my revenge on him, and typing this little monologue above about his crap service, I felt a tad better. Not as good as if could have found him and eliminated him, mind, but a little cheerier, just at the thought. Then, it came back on! Hurrah! Back to semi-sanity.

Back to finish off on Facebook. Problems in importing photos now! Had to give up on it. Tsk!

Hello! Noisy Herbert in the flat above is at it again. Scraping noises, banging too.

To WordPress Reader next. Then the comments.

Had another go on Facebooking. Stuttery and slow, but got a lot done, it just took me hours to get done. Humph!

Duodenal Donald was terribly bothersome again. Settled to watch some TV. Watched the Wigan v  Southampton Cup match. Well, when I had not nodded off that is. Great game.

Did the Health Checks.

Did the ablutions and medicalisationing without too much bother.

Got the nosh prepared.

Fresh pork knuckle, chips, tomatoes, red onion, sugar snap peas, apple slices and a Lemon Mousse. (It may appear that I’m consuming lemon desserts a lot lately? That’s cause it is still on offer price). The orange juice was not touched for some reason.

Ah, I remember now, I fell asleep! Tsk!

Inchcock Today – Saturday 17th March 2018

Saturday 17th March 2018

0155hrs: I’d been having horrible dreams, all night long it felt. But could I find any scribbled notes on the pad, or recall any details? No! Most annoying making when this happens! I had an idea that I was watching the dream through a clithridiate window or screen? I laid a while trying to remember anything about them, but could only perceive there was nothing redolent about them.

When the sudden need for the Porcelain Throne to be utilised arrived. A bit of a slapstick-burlesque followed in my extracting myself from the £300 second-hand recliner. Lowered the chair, tripped on one of the slippers, kept my balance and avoided going over by putting my hand on top of the Ottoman – the lid slid, and I did: ending up on my side with the arm over the Ottoman. I got up rather quickly, due to the need for the Throne, and limped to the wet-room.

Oh, boy, I could write a few paragraphs on this session. But suffice to say in short; Massive, the shape of the Hindenburg, solid-heavy-mass, struggle and hassle, slow movement, kerplunk, water splashing, blood bleeding and blessed relief! It seems that Trotsky Terence has withdrawn from the scene. Hehehe!

Cleaned-up and off to the kitchen to make a brew.

Looking outside I thought it was wet, so opened the window to take this photographicalisation. You can see the giant raindrops falling from the bottom of the frame in the top of the picture. So I made one downwards of the car park on Chestnut Walk.

This when it became apparent that it was snowing such thin flakes, snow-showers I think they call this type of weather. It seemed to be melting as soon as it landed on the ground.

The only part of the picture where any snow can be seen in close to the street light.

When I got back in and closed the window, the camera and my dressing gown sleeves were slightly wet.

Did the Health Checks and took the medications.

The weight was still the highest ever for me. Despite my having less to eat for my meal last night. At least it hadn’t gone up again, so that was something I suppose. (Says him clutching-at-straws!)

I felt some brewing and churning from the innards. I envisaged another Porcelain Throne session preparing itself in readiness for evacuation procedures to be implemented again shortly.

Got the computer on and started this post off up to here. Then started to finalise yesterday’s diary. This task took me hours and hours to get done. Posted off.

Checked the Emails, and found some terribly lousy news from Sister Jane. She told me: “Heard from our Sis-in-law Frances, that our lovely nephew David Bratton got stabbed in the lungs today while confronting some yobs who were slashing his car tyres – luckily he seems to be improving, but still in Intensive Care.
It was on BBC local news to18 year-old student Mariam Moustafa, dying aft being assaulted by several teenage girls in Nottingham, outside the Victoria Centre on February 20th around 2000hrs.night on TV. Got three youths in custody thank goodness.”

This above, and a few others reported this week:

  • A teenage boy told a jury that he was twice stabbed in the back when three youths came up behind him in a Basford park. He immediately recognised the boy with the knife and identified the other two after being released from the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham Crown Court heard.
  • Mum-of-six kicked a female police officer after a row over son’s drug use.
  • 18-year-old student Mariam Moustafa died after being assaulted by several teenage girls in Nottingham, around 2000hrs, outside the Victoria Centre on February 20th,
  • Police officer and dog injured with a knife following Top Valley aggravated burglary.
  • Stabbing in Nottingham becomes a murder investigation after 17-year-old dies. Police have now launched a murder investigation and are issuing a renewed appeal for information. Detective Chief Inspector Hayley Williams, of East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) Major Crime, who is leading the investigation said:“We believe he left home sometime around six pm and at some point, he was chased and attacked before being left very seriously injured in Stock Well. We are appealing for more people to come forward to help us piece together the exact circumstances of the incident”.
  • A new top cop is to be appointed to look after policing the city, the Police and Crime Commissioner has confirmed. Paddy Tipping said the new superintendent would be in place from April 1 and their role will be to run the police force in the city on a day to day basis.

Inchcock’s Comment:

Bearing in mind that Nottingham has lost more than 380 police officers in the last five years, this appointment of a new top cop seems an empty and futile decision. If the Top Cop has not got the sufficient number of officers, which he or she will probably not have, thanks to the Conservative Governments enforced cut-backs, what’s the point? The only option I see, is by moving some of the preciously few Officers to the City, thus allowing the druggies, car criminals, muggers, knife, machete and gun-wielding gangs and burglars etc., free rein to use the estates for their illegal practices?

While I was reading about the appointment of the Top Cop, I found it interesting that on the same page, were these links.

0720hrs, already. I got carried away.

A little snow shower had left the pretty picture opportunity for me.

So, took this picture, no snow at the moment falling.

Made another brew and then I visited the WordPress Reader. Again, some great stuff on there.

I took this zoomed-in photograph of the car park below. The snow was so subtle and delicate and blowing upwards again now. With very little of it was settling.

But with freezing and below temperatures forecast, I think it might get worse later on out there.

I decided to get the vegetable tray made up ready to go into the oven late. Much later. Why I did this so early in the day, is still a puzzle to my befuddled brain.

I covered it and went to get it put back into the fridge.

What a shame. In my concerted efforts to get the tray back in the refrigerator, I decided I’d have to move some of the other fodder around to make room for it. I managed to knock the milk over, squash a carton of lemon mousse and somehow or other, I spilt some grated cheese over the two lower shelves, the floor and me! What a Plonka!

I sorted the comments and decided to have a rinse and change the PPs again. No further Porcelain  Throne demands yet. But the rumbling innards continue, getting noisier as time goes on?

Onto Facebooking, hoping it would not play me up again. Started to go slow, but I got a lot done first.

I went back on CorelDraw to do some prep work on graphics for later use.

Herbert banging about a bit again, you can tell it’s the weekend!

Health Checks and medications were seen to.

I was feeling all out-of-sorts for some reason, but I at most of it.

Fell asleep for ten minutes, and woke with Reflux Roger and Duodenal Donald both giving me some grief.

Herbert from the flat above was so much noisier than he has ever been. No chance of nodding off again.

I put the DVD on, didn’t nod-off. Tried the TV, that should surely send me to sleep. But no. Not a chance. I spend hours watching the banal rubbish on the TV, and occasionally getting up to take a photograph of the weather. I collated the photos taken timewise:

A lousy Day!

Inchcock Today – Friday 16th March 2018

Friday 16th March 2018

Catalan: Divendres 16 de març de 2018

0200hrs: Woke and regained a modicum of logicality and concentration. As I lay there getting up enough steam to tackle the sorting out of what needed doing, it dawned on me that the laundry had not been done yet. Out of the £300 second-hand recliner with ease, almost. Gathered the prepared bag of clothes and accoutrements and off down to the laundry room. No tea making, wee-wees or stubbing of toes – I surprised myself with my determination. Noegenesis seeking, I pressed on.

Into the lift # two.

A search and inspection revealed no beetles lurking anywhere within the confines of the cage.

The lift rattled a bit, as it descended down to the ground floor.

The automatic notice board sign was out of action when I got out.

I perused the notice boards, but could not see any new signs for us.

For a moment a bit of a panic set-in when I nipped out to take a photo of the foyer area. I thought I had left the door-fob up in the flat. The stomach went cold as I searched not expecting to find the item, but it it was in my pocket after all. Phew!

It felt warm outside this morning, I could hear the birds chirping and singing away to their heart’s content.

A little early in the day I thought?

Off to the laundry room and cleaned the washer drum, then got the wash-cycle started.

Surprised me some of the things I see in the laundry room waste bin sometimes.

This morning it had sections of polystyrene strips, take-away food remnants with plastic cutlery and nub-ends.

The input trays had to be cleaned up and old soap powder removed. Wiped around the casings.

Off back up to the apartment in lift number one this time. Had a visit from Dizzy Dennis on the way up. Only a short one, though.

The automatic-information sign near the elevator doors was now working again.

Up and in the flat. Had a wee-wee.

Started to finish off the Thursday diary.

Down again to move the things from the washer to dryer.

I had to clean out the filter, cause whoever used it last forgot to do it.

As I did so, it moved and trapped my finger in the gap as the plastic sprang back into position. Tsk!

I think I might have said at the time, ‘Well fancy that!’

Hehehe!

Don’t know why I’m laughing.

Got the clothes out and folded them up – but:  The magic missing sock syndrome returned!

Oh, I was annoyed with myself. I checked the drums on the washer and dryer in case I’d missed it earlier. No odd sock found! I pressed on and got the folded clobber into the big blue bag.

Cleaned the filter and casings and as I turned to leave, there was the offending sock right in the corner behind the door! A real mystery to me, how it got there. But I was so pleased to have found it.

To the lift.

All done and finished by 0405hrs.

I thought I’d done well, then I realised I’d not taken the jammies, dressing gown or towels down with the other things to launder!

Up to number 72 and got the Thursday diary finished and posted off. Sorted the pictures ready for using later.

Checked the emails next, and I’d had one from the surgery re the blood test. They had booked it for Wednesday 21st at 0905hrs, with Nurse Ann.

(I shivered).

Got on with starting this diary of next, got as far as here. Then went to the WordPress reader, then comments.

Had a wee-wee.

Went into the kitchen, and was startled when I saw the fog and it was raining so heavy as well. When I got back to the computer, I had a look at the weather forecast for this weekend – Amber warning for snow and flooding!

Seems that today rain that might be followed with some snowfalls.

Sunday the most significant threat with snow showers forecast.

Makes it worse with the freezing temperatures overnight. Oh, ‘Ecky-thump!

Went onto Facebook to see if things would allow me this time. Slowed down often, but I got most things done.

Off to do the ablutions now. A good session, apart from the medicationalisationing procedures.

Got things ready, and left the flat. Got the door locked and took the black bags to the rubbish chute, to the lift and realised I had not got my hearing aids in. Returned to get them.

Departed again, locked the door, and well well, fancy that. I had not got my hat on! Back in again and collected it.

The best of this series of Whoopsiedangleplops this one: Out once more, and realised I had my slippers on! Back in and changed into the shoes.

Got to the lift, and remembered I had forgotten to take the Chips, to give to anyone who liked them. This being part of my running down of naughty-foods, in my effort to lose weight. I still have all those ready meals in the fridge, but am not going to throw or give them away. Back to pick the box up. Tsk!

Outside on Chestnut Walk, the place was busy with workers again.

Got to the Temporary Wardens hut, and both Deana and Julie were in their office. I popped in to explain about my not getting anything information wise from the Fire meeting yesterday.

Seems that many other tenants were the same. She didn’t seem bothered by this, that assuaged my guilt.

Mary, Cindie and Welsh Bill were all in the big room. They all looked and sounded in good form. We had a decent nattering session.

The buses arrived, and we went out to join the mass of residents waiting. On the City bound one, and got the crossword book activated.

Dropped off the bus and I went to Tesco. With the aim of seeing what vegetables they had on offer, and get some potato cakes. The choice of veg was dismal, tatty, with some out of date. I wandered to the bread section, and things were the same. Out of date loaves, and their potato cakes had doubled in price and only had one day’s shelf life left on them. I put back the basket and went.

Walking through Trinity Square, and Dizzy Dennis paid me a visit. He stayed a while, and that was not appreciated. Eventually, he cleared off. I decided to have a walk around town, to kill time and get some fresh air until the next bus home could be caught. Not feeling very good, and Anne Gyna kicked off.

Hobbling down Market Street, I noticed a Nottingham Cyclist going on the wrong side of the road going down the hill.

Seconds after taking this photo, he veered onto the footway. How he missed hitting the sign on the footway, I don’t know.

But it was a testimony to his cycling skills, all done at speed as well. Good job there were no pedestrians around. In fact, the place looked like a ghost town.

It brought to my mind, a picture of the few Nottinghamian residents, having survived a cataclysm and apocalypse, were wandering around, not knowing what to do. Their mobiles and iPads don’t work, no one around worth mugging, nowt on the TV! (Deep that, won’t it, even surprised me!)

Down to the Slab Square.

Bleak, depressing, dark, dank, sad and dismal were the words that came to mind.

Hehehe!

I think I might use this photo to make a funny as a page top for later.

I walked along passing the Jehovah’s Witnesses, a drunken beggar, the street-sleeper on Long Row, the newspaper vendor, the youths sat on the wall drinking cans of lager, the Nottingham Pavement Cyclists, two delivering Pizzas according to the box on their backs.

There were no Big Issue sellers to be seen this morning in the centre.

I took a final picture of the Little John clock and tower and made my way up past the man with his guitar singing the Praises of the Lord, at the junction of Queen and King Street.

The depressive atmosphere prevailed even at the bus stop. People around in numbers, but no one talking? Got onto the bus when it arrived.

Entered the flat, up the lift and ran into my neighbour and Obergruppenfureress Warden Deana as they were getting into the elevator. Words of greeting were exchanged.

At the flat, I was somewhat perplexed to find the door unlocked. Had I failed to do this earlier when I had to keep returning to collect things I’d forgotten to take with me? I don’t think I’ve ever forgotten to lock this door before? Had someone been in, somebody who had called to see me and found the door open! Mmm?

Thee thoughts soon left my brain, as I had to go to the wet-room to clean things up and change PPs. A little bleeding had taken place while I was out and about.

Went to the kitchen and did the Health Checks. I notice Deana walking at rapid speed along Chestnut Walk.

Got the camera and zoomed in to take a shot of the busy gal.

My mind turned to the attention of the comestibles. It is not easy to comether myself not to eat my usual foodstuffs. I still have three ready-made meals in the fridge that I do not want to throw out and love the taste of them. I must eat them, but with far less other foods… This is not easy.

I decided in the end, to have sliced potatoes with grated cheese sprinkled on then, and tomatoes sliced on top. But, I let me get carried away with the side-stuff again. Felt somewhat guilty after I’d eaten it. But, I did so enjoy it. Tsk!

At least I have ordered some vegetarian Cumberland Pie on next weeks food order. Tsk, again!

Got the ablutions done. Afterwards, as I was putting the new PPs on, I tripped and cracked my forehead against the side of the sink. It was a cracking-good belt it was too, cause when I put my hand out to soften the blow, it got entangled in the PPs I was struggling to get on. So I was too late to lessen the blow. The truly amazing thing was that pain subsided within minutes, and I cannot see any bruising whatsoever on the head. Nothing at all, not even a bit of red colouring?

I was determined to watch some ‘Hustle’ on the box tonight and got down earlier than my usual. Hoping to nod-off, thus making it possible for me to watch some of the programme when I woke again. But no, I nodded off and stayed that way. Humph!
