The Oaks Residential Care Home

Wed 24th: 01:55hrs, woke up after decent kip. No radiator noises! Shower and got foot support ready. Still no aftershave, but the cuts were getting less frequent.

Tried using the rear-end throne. No luck. Brekkers, toast, nice and enjoyable.

Call from Deana wishing me well, bless her. Called BJ but no connection?

Finding it hard to understand my writing for today?

Rang Jane. Foot support was done with aplomb by the carer. Bless em! ♥

Meals were taken up in the room today, dinner down in the hall. Vegetarian pastie, with Brassica. Can’t think of the names for some reason, apart from cauliflower and cabbage. Also carrots, onions, peas and… bad memory and writing day.

Lady from DVT took Warfarin blood, and I think Sonia came to visit from Therapy, but not confident of this.

Thursday 25th April: Woke 02:30hrs, feeling most confused to start with. Lady called later, questions about health. Carer supplied a mug of tea. Asked lad about missing socks and jumper from laundry. Then she found them for me, bless her.

Much unreadable stuff on this page of the notepad.

A care got the protection pad on for me.

I had a good wander around indoors for exercise. Then did  Occupational training. Lunch a sausage sandwich.

Made a list of communicative needs and wrote them down. To show people who I might meet for the first time.

A carer told me I should be making my own tea as practice, and they will record how I go. So I went to the Social room, and someone had locked the kettle away. Ah, well!

The EQ returned today, and I had the sensation that something would happen today that would be unexpected.

After weeks of being confined to barracks, the staff were all stil too busy to take me out. Waiting for the Foot Support to be fitted before I was permitted to walk, and then had to take the walker with me.

Down for nosh, a smoked haddock sandwich, and very-tasty it was!

Sister Jane rang, bad line didn’t understand much, but had the newly found memory working and asked for some aftershave bringing in to stop the bleeding when I shave.

The heavy storm persisted. I was sorry I didn’t have a camera, many photo opportunities presented themselves. Humph!

BJ arrived to visit me. Great to see him, bless his cotton socks. Great natter, mostly from me of course. I was pleased when he sowed me his ankle support, which looked just like mine. I thought i’dtry to copy the nest bit on the pad, in hpes that someone might be able to decipher what the heck I was trying to write: Saw him off outside, using walker of course. Check footman nail £30, no answer.

Going down later for nosh, carer told me to go back upstairs to the lounge for having meal this time. Vegetarian Chilli pastie again, super-tasty and again with Brassica. I must ask the doctor when I get to see her. seven weeks or so since the Stroke, not heard anything from her.

  1. In an odd way, I think the experience was valuable – why I haven’t worked out yet. Hahaha!
Look after yourself and keep off of the roofs!
    Cheers, Tim.
