Local News Snippets – Part 14⅒th

Unwin must have been known for having a violent history…

For four officers to escort him, obviously the dullest,

To take off his handcuffs, knowing he’s the unfriendliest,

A decision that proved to be one of the iffiest,

Four officers were assaulted; was there an inquest?

In court, battered officers, the most ignoble,

Saw a sentence handed to Unwin, the patheticist…

15 months, suspended, no wonder he reoffended!

This sentence should go down in folklore,

Not one policeman beat up, but four!

Now he’s free to duff-up some more!

Why is there no complaining or furore…?

Namby-pamby sentencing gets more and more,

Violent police assaulters, by the score…

Laughing at judges even more…

Softness won’t work, like with Putin’s war!

Modern-day gangsters, barely out of their nappies. What chance for the future, with scum-ball bully boys so scared, they have to carry weapons and use them to intimidate others? There is no chance of any retribution worth talking of. I’m sure the threat of having to serve two-thirds of their sentence and the rest on a licence will send a shudder of fear through their vicious, antisocial, greedy, cowardly, cowardly, drug-crazed, chicken-hearted, self-centred minds.

What chance for the future, with scum-ball bully boys so scared, they must carry weapons and use them to intimidate others? Modern-day gangsters, barely out of their nappies. No chance of any retribution worth talking of; I’m sure the threat of having to serve two-thirds of their sentence and the rest on a licence will send a shudder of fear through their vicious, antisocial, greedy, cowardly minds. It’ll get them some more street-cred with the opposition drug gangs, which is more concerning to these lice than any prison sentence. OF course, they will be able to access drugs for personal use via manipulated family members and visitors. Not having to worry about getting medical attention, cooking, cleaning, council tax, the increase in the cost of living, having computer problems… Hang on that does sound a little tempting. I bet if I was incarcerated, I’d get both cataracts, saccades and glaucoma done quicker… Maybe, even get some help with Vascular Dementia, Doreen? Be able to actually see a real doctor! Not to fret over food price rises, rent, and carer cost increases… And stick two fingers up at my unsolvable computer problems; I can use the prison ones and get the internet for free!

Now that’s got me thinking. Who’s the idiot, these three stooges or me? Have I been missing out on things in life? Silly question that! Obviously, I have been missing out, or why would I end up where I am, after a slog of miserable, failed, error-filled life, stuck here surrounded by tellurians and so lonely?

Can one of these three good-looking drug-gang members might advise me on how and where to get a reliable handgun and ammunition?

Surprised? I’m not. The end is nigh! The world is racing to it. Not much point in betting on which way the world and or humanity will self-destruct, but I’ve come up with some odds:

  1. Lots of low lifery continues. I love the end of the world odds. We have lots of gang related shootouts here. I’m always surprised you have them there, also, given how The Economist always goes on about how the USA has a gun problem compared to the UK.

  2. A disturbing but necessary reminder that being safe while out and about — or being invaded from without while merely going about your day inside your own dwelling — requires you to be aware of these criminals who have no regard for any of their fellow beings, but the highest regard for their basest instincts. Being shot in public and private places in this country is so frequent that most shootings are not even reported, were they all reported there would be no room on the news for anything else. The most recent heavily covered killer did not even have to purchase a gun, he already had five given him by his own father. The same demographic appears for nearly all these destroyers of dreams: 18 – 22 years of age, white, and disaffected, that is a very small number of characteristics that account for such and enormous taking of lives anonymous to the perpetrator. The Washington Post recently reported the sheer number of killings that occurred on the very same day as a group of citizens gathered to watch a parade on a national holiday in a small town north of Chicago:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/interactive/2022/gun-deaths-per-year-usa/?itid=hp-top-table-main-t-2&fbclid=IwAR3pYVfMJIW-d3B2XMvvnDQpgIVqpPgskZr4ZA8cn1C6ujK7jXSFKtr_82I

An excerpt I posted on FaceBook that enumerates how many others received bullets on that very day:

“Over the long holiday weekend, when seven people were killed and dozens wounded at a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, numerous other fatal shootings played out across the country. In nearby Chicago, 10 people were killed and more than 60 wounded in a string of shootings over the weekend. One person was killed and four wounded in a shooting outside a Sacramento nightclub. Two people were shot to death at a home in Haltom City, Tex., and a neighbor and three police officers were injured. A man was fatally shot in Clinton, N.C.; hours later, six people, including two children, were injured in a separate shooting there.”

    • I had to sign in and pay with Paypal on the link, Sir. But did a search and found related, horrific facts and figures in the U.S.
What can we do? Anything effective? Heartbreaking.
At least no I have the key safe fitted, and finally got a spare key, I can lock up after the evening carer, knowing that the yobboes should’t be able to get in the flat again.
      Innit a lousy, depressing time?
On the bright ish side, just six days to the first cataract operation, mate.
Please taketh care, thank HRH for her thoughts and kindness, and please do not lose your slide rule… instirred tea is not good. Hahaha! ♥
Another murder in Sherwood today, Crikey. its only about 2x2miles wide. I can see the street where it took place, from the balcony. No arrests, so nothing in the news at all. A Carer told me of it.
We battle our ailments… including frustration.
Red hot here today Billum. Carer Valerie told me tonight that the next few days will be the hottest of the year so far.

      • Thank you so much for reading that, despite it being behind a pay wall. Changing the door lock was a good idea, keeping yobboes (I don’t think we have that word over here, but I know of whom you speak). Cincinnati and Nottingham are pretty close in population size, so it is interesting to make comparisons as I continue to discover N’ham beyond the tales of Robin Hood and seeing Robin Hood flour at the supermarket. Haha!
Glad that the cataract surgery is finally around the corner, news that makes my day.
Lisa is the kindest person I’ve ever known, and when you think about how dreadful were the conditions she survived, including dastardly prior husbands. HRH is clearly one of a kind, something that everyone who meets her can aver.
I can always find my slide rule because it is in the same drawer as the eating utensils. Of course. 🙂
A murder so close to 72 is scary stuff in a town that is only four-square-miles in area. And not being mentioned in the news, so I suppose it is not really any more peaceful that in this hemisphere. I lived in Kansas for a couple years, a large state where there are only 3 million people.
Balancing ailments indeed, but it does give us something to talk about that is both real and personal. The Ailment Card Deck?
Red hot temperatures are also too darn real and personal. And we are only 9/32nds of the way into the present month. Cincinnati is located at the border between two major climate zones, giving us interesting weather — whether we are interested in the weather or not.
Fare yer well, my friend. Despite everything and all.

      • Cheers, Billumski. They gave me a bit od a shock when I saw them coming into the flat, I WAS LUCKY that they chose the flight and not the fight route! “Phew!”
Precious HRH, I’m so glad you met up with her, Sir. Her caring is limitless – please giveth her a gentle cuddle of appreciation on my behalf, mate.
From the balcony, I worked out that 24 of the crime spots in grid, are visible. An 8i-year lady was mugged and hospitalised for a month, at the bus stop in Sherwood last year, no one was prosecuted, despite the CCTV installed at the danger bus stop after assaults trebled in a year. Whoever wrote the article on that, was my sort of person. ‘Cutting’.
Between the three of us, we seem to have most ailment depatments covered? Hahaha! Petal-Lisa is living miracle after what she’s been through, methinks, Bill.
A bit of a mixed bag of weather for Cincinnati, much liketh Nottingham, we usually miss the worst of the weather with all the hills surrounding us.
Everything and all, will be resisted, and with a smile and laugh coming from your worthy self – we can continue the struggle! ♥
