Thur 16th July 2015: Hot water… at last! Whoopsiedangleplop! Busy busy day!

Thursday 16th July 2015

Got a good dream filled 6 hours kip in last night! (Not that I can remember much of them, just gallows, many witches and me drowning)

Woke up with a start again – mind racing…

‘Got to meet Pete 1000hrs at his bus-stop in town’: Can’t do that, I checked the buses last night, first one at 0930hrs doesn’t get into town until 1008hrs.

Fretted a bit over the bills that had arrived.

Must get back for 1230hrs as the maintenance man is coming to refit the door lock twixt then and 1630hrs. Will I have time to get me things done – wanted to get some hearing aids from the audio clinic, call in Jessops to get help with me camera and get some bread… Something will have to be missed. Tsk!

Delighted when I made a cuppa to take my meditations and found that I had hot-water coming from the taps.

Had a bath and wash-up. during which I found: The wrist bruising is much less now (Not that that stopped me banging it on the cupboard door twice like).

The ‘Little Inch’ was so tender and had been bleeding again.

The cancer wound was itching more than ever.

Me knees wus having a visit from Arthur Itis in a bad mood.

Anne Gyna was giving the usual signals that she does sometimes before playing up. Oh dear!

The haemorrhoids were tingling a bit, but very little blood.

The usually sticking-open Reflux Valve has sank back down a bit into me chest – not sure what to expect now – it very rarely does that?

Hey-ho!

Put some baked beans in a bowl and marinated them for later on: A little touch of mild curry powder, half a teaspoon of English mustard, a sprinkle of Worcester sauce, a splash of vinegar, a spoon of unrefined demerara sugar and a few sultanas.

Made another cuppa, the first one went cold. Pondered on me repair jobs upcoming: Today: the locks being changed. Friday: Kitchen vent being repaired. Monday: Kitchen cupboard being repaired. Tuesday: Store Room checked for safe to use situation. Thursday next: Draughts in Kitchen to be assessed. Wed 29th: Smoke Alarm checks… on and on… And along with the many already set and expected weekly medical appointments it’s no wonder I’m a confused little Nottingham Lad. Hehehe!

I wish I could stop me mind racing fretting and unendingly (Now there is a word one doesn’t type very often! Just a thought – plenty of them bouncing around in me confused mind at the moment) banging away.

Laptop on and started this diary, checked emails, got this posted.

Got the things I’ll need for the meet with Pete. Bus-pass, timetable, notes of what needs doing (Not that will get done anyway),  nibbles for Pete and Jane, camera, mobile phone… bet I’ve missed summat out.

DSCF0122Put me alarm on me new little £3 clock to remind me when it got close to time to get ready fer bus to meet Pete. Natty little clock Did a bit of Facebooking. It’s got a little tiny light on it to the left of the face so I can find it in the dark… hehe!

And it tells me written on the box that it is Recyclable too.

Went down to the lobby and had a go on me crossword book, some residents arrived and I managed to get a little nattering done with some of them.

Dean Walker (The Heroine of mine who found me keys the other day) came in and was so busy. She handed me the new lock that was to be fitted to me flat door later, replacing the excellent one already fitted?

Caught the bus L9 in to town and met Pete at his bus stop, timed it just right for once.

We went to the Jessop camera store and a young man was very patient with me and showed me how to clear the grid I’d managed to get on the screen. He said the photographs were already being saved at the smallest available to these cheaper-end cameras. Humph! Hehe.

We plodded up the hill to the Audio Clinic. Gawd me feel and legs were hurting summat rotten by the time we got there! Agonomy it wer!

0302Got me batteries and some tubes for me hearing-aids. And we strolled down the hill into town.

We walked down St Peter’s Street. A quaint looking old street indeed.

Pete took a photo of me near the Noshery, with a view of the old street in the background.

Not many folk on it nowadays, it’s used more as a cut-through than anyone actually shopping in it nowadays.

We went into the slab square0303.

Where I spotted a crow manipulating a discarded bag to get into the contents. Much impressed I was too with it’s dexterity.

I wonder what it was in the bag that attracting him/her to work so hard to get at it?

I left Pete and wandered up to the bus-stop to catch the L9 to the flats.

When it arrived, I put away me crossword book and went to get on – Whoopsiedangleplop time again! No bus-pass to be found!

0304The bus pulled off and left me feeling a twit and searching me pockets for the pass! I knew I had it when I got to the bus-stop… repeatedly searched me multitude of pockets without any luck.

Then, noticed it laying there on the pavement. I know I’ve said this before and will again no doubt – Wot a plonka!

Actually it turned out okay, cause I realised I had time to get a bus to Carrington and get the meters read for the gas and electric, and collect a bag of stuff to take to the flat, so maybe it was good that I didn’t get on the bus to Sherwood?

dropped off in Carrington, no yobs about, and made me way to the dump.

Someone had filled me bin with rubbish bless them.

Got in and down the cellar to record the meter readings and wrote them down!

Then had a search round for things I could manage to carry in me bag back to the  flat. Got some hearing plugs, paperwork to sort later, a blanket, some trousers, cutlery and socks.

Some mail had been delivered – including me INR test results.

0201AppsLater I called the doctors about this – as they told me over the phone yesterday (Unless I miss-heard them) that my next appointment was for Monday 27th at 0915hrs. The hospital record card said it was for the Monday 20th July?

She initially said yes it was for the 27th – I pointed out the QMC results I got through the post to the old house  said the 2oth.

She then said she would change it to Monday 20th at 0950hrs – but I had two appointments on that Monday with the repair men coming. I explained this but they had no free appointment for the time the repairmen were here… Tsk!

So she made it for the 21st on Tuesday – now I’m going to get letters e-mails and phone calls from the Anticoagulation at the Queens Medical Centre about missing me Monday appointment and I’ll have to explain everything to them again! If I can remember all this then like.

Got me bags, not too heavy if I wasn’t going to walk a long way with them and made me way to the bus-stop and caught one into Sherwood.

Me feet and knees were really bad now.

In Sherwood when I dropped off bus, I walked up the hill to the bus-stop going in the opposite direction. To see if an L8 bus was due so I could avoid the slog up the hill on Winchester street wiv me bags like. No, 40 minutes to the next one – so I painfully struggled up the hill to the flats.

Quite proud of missen when I got in the flat. (Smug mode adopted – mind you the cramps will get me tonight for all me hill climbing – Hehehe!).

I WC’d and made a cuppa. Put me bags in the living room and set about sorting the paperwork. What a grind that was.

Laptop on and updated this diary of Woe.

DSCF0128

Looking out for the locksmith chap…

Cleaned the bathroom with me new ‘do-as-it-wants’ expensive mop. Talk about streaks. Huh! Might have been me mind doing summat wrong?

Waiting for the worker-chaps to arrive to do replace the flat door lock.

Got an email from the GP surgery telling me I had an appointment on the 29th with the surgery nurse at 0930hrs? Well, that’s the day that Swift’s are doing the Smoke and Fire alarm checks. Int life complicated sometimes! Huh, Tsk and flippin’ ‘eck!

The locksmith chap arrived and put the new lock in – took him about three minutes. He gave me two keys and toddled off.

I tried to clean the frame of the window in the kitchen – even tried scouring pads, but not good. The decay and ground in marks ain’t ‘avin’ it!

Put me beans in the oven to bake em a bit more with the veg pastie and two sausages. Doing them slowly, don’t know why mind.

0305I found a photograph what I took today amongst the ones I knew about that I’ve already posted – but this one is a total mystery to me?

The only thing I can think of, is maybe either the Jessops man or missen took it while he was showing me how to select and deselect the grid option on the camera… perhaps. But I don’t know really. Have you any ideas please? Ah well!

Nosh in’t oven not quite hot enough yet. Tested it by opening oven door and sticking me finger in the beans. I like the taste of this recipe, must write it down for later.

DSCF0129Ah, ready now, excuse me while I get it down me neck.

8.5/10 for this, it was great tasting!

I decided I’d go out for a walk like, and take some photographs of the park and call to see BJ.

When I left the flat – the new door lock would not lock!

Hellfire damnations and huh! – a Whoopsiedangleplop not of me own making this time!

I went down to the lobby to find the number required from the lost on the wall and a lady told me to dial ‘O’ on the internal phone to get someone to talk to about it.

So I thanked her and did like.

The chap at the other end (Couldn’t hear him 100%) I told him about having a new lock fitted today and he gleefully said “Who fitted the lock, it’s in your tenancy agreement you can’t do that without permission!”.

I told him City Homes fitted the lock and he said no more on the matter. He then told me he’d contact City Homes and get back to me about it.

So, I’m updating this diary while I wait.

“Whistling tunelessly and picking my nose now…”.

“Scratching me bum now…”

Too late for me to go out now and see BJ to look at the bed he had in mind for me.

“Washed the inside of the microwave while waiting…”

No one rang back, but a chappy-fella arrived and got the lock working working. I asked him what the problem had been and he said sometimes with these locks when you install them you can push the outer-lip out a tad too much. So when you use the key you must press and hold it in and not pull at the key when it is in the lock.

Very encouraging that. The old lock I was happy with but officialdom deemed had to go was never any trouble. Be interesting when I come to use the key when me arthritis is playing up… oh I’m fed-up!

Got another City Homes pretend maintenance man or men coming tomorrow as well. They or he or she is coming to mend the broken Air-vent in the kitchen.

Well past my bedtime now, so no Facebooking tonight.

Such a tiring day again.

Woke with a start – dream fresh in my mind: I was running on ledges outside sky-scrapers being chased – I was wearing yellow day-glow tea shirt and long-john underpants – I felt young… then I was stood in a long queue at St Peters gate reading an electric wiring leaflet for toasters, although it was written in French? – Mmmm?

Take care all, cheers.

15 July 2015: Inchcock Today: Double Council Tax to pay!

Wednesday 15th July 2015

Sprang awake at 0105hrs – the dreams still making me shake with sheer fear at the memories of them. Made a cuppa, laptop on and started this diary off:

WC’d.

I seemed to be living in a mixture of all the dwellings I have ever lived at – the common denominator was gangs of various types attacking me every time I tried to get in or out. At one time I had concealed myself at the edge of a canal on the grass bank with binoculars, my old leather-bound motorbike helmet on and with a feather duster again?

When I woke I remember feeling so relived it was over and not real!

Started working on a LOMM site blog-post about the LOMM Partly political party and it’s Shadow Ministers. Got carried away and spent hours and hours and still didn’t get anywhere near finishing it when Glendora from Age UK rang the intercom to be let in.

We got so muh more sorted today thank heavens.

She rang Age UK in response to an insurance advertisement they sent me – and after only 58 minutes it was sorted. Of course the £59 they suggested it would cost, had gone up to £89 by the time all the extras had been added! Tsk! Still, I can stop worrying now, I think I’m covered – but it was so confusing all the questions – Good job Glendora was here.

She was too early to call the NHS line to change me address so I can get me iNR Warfarin level test results sent here and not the old place. The help line is only on three days a week and then only from 1100 to 1500hrs.

She then set about calling the Council about the tax, but as expected I have to pay both here and the old place until I sell it. Hey-ho!

We couldn’t get a hold of Steve from Age UK to ask him when he would be available to be here when the carpet fitters arrived to measure up, pick carpets and get the price off them. So no pint in ringing them yet.

Glendora took me down to the charity shop in Sherwood to see if the writing table and black comfy seat was still in stock – but no they’s been sold.

DSCF0119

Age UK’s volunteer Gendora taking me shopping

She then suggested she take me to Arnold and another shop to try for a bed – but they had no full time staff on duty and the volunteers didn’t know what had and hadn’t been sold?

We walked over to Wilkinsons store and I bought a clock and small mirror.

Back to the flat bless her.

She rang the Helpline at the NHS and persisted getting an answer eventually and sorted the address change for me.

I thanked her and off she went.

I got six more letters for the Margaret the previous tenant and three for me!

Hang on, I’m going to open em now…

I don’t like this at all – a Council Tax Bill for 2015/2016 for the old place – Amount due £852.95 – and one for the new flat amount due £855.81!

The last one from Nottingham City Council with a City Card – and offering me content insurance with no Excesses for £25 less than AGE UK who I’d just signed up for!

Also told me of the Rent and the ‘Extras’ i have to pay for CCTV, caretaking, communal light, TV receptions (Although I haven’t got one), Sheltered accommodation services? Supporting person Charge warden and Care alarm property.

DSCF0120Now I feel right down!

Had me nosh, the bad financial news took the edge off me enjoying it.

Did some Facebooking and then got down to finishing the LOMM post.

Hard work but I enjoyed doing it’

LOMM Partly Political Party…

DSCF0121I realised when I was half way through me apple that I’d noshed the sticky label! Huh!

It wer one of these here like wots on the other apples like.

Hey-ho!

Quilt, cushion, throw head down on the Kitchen floor – No cramps yet. Soon nooded off despite me worries… poor old grumps eh?

Tue 14 July 2015: Inchcock Today –

Tuesday 14th July 2015

0201

Didn’t wake up until gone 0600hrs – got in at least 6 hours much-needed kip. Memories of dreams fresh in me head I wrote some bit down quickly to record later – which is just as well ’cause by the time I’d nipped to tend to duties at the porcelain and sorted out me painful little Inch problems, I’d lost all memories of the dreams and had to rely on the notes to tell of em.

No hot water again, only tepid and the immersion was not working, well when I turned it on, no light came on. Tsk!

Made a cuppa and took me medications.

Nippy again this morning.

Stand-up wash and shave, feet in a bowl to clean and I dropped the towel in the sink. Oh dear, wotta good start!

Got the rubbish bags sorted to take to the chute later when it will be permitted to do so.

Boiled the kettle again, made a cuppa and put me cleaning cloths in the kitchen bowl to soak.

The ‘Little Inch’ is so tender this morning and needed much gentle attention. I’m a bit worried about its (the lesion’s) condition now.

Another trip to the WC, when I cleaned the bowl I came across some more of Paul the painter’s deposits and splashes and cleaned em off – will it never end. Hehehe!

Back in the kitchen I could hear a new to me noise and after investigation to put me mind at ease, I found it was the fridge-freezer, its gone from Grrr clump – clump shudder click noises to Grrrrrr shudder bang clump grind click noises now.

Laptop on to start this diary off and consulted me scribbled notes about the dreams:

A multitude of corridors, people chasing me – when I stopped they had disappeared? – I ended up chasing after them, searching rooms… fell in love with a woman I found hiding behind an old-fashioned blackboard and easel with writing on it from L R Johnson’s Erskine Quint book about Volga Olga in an office… Music started playing, jazz and I was then in a submarine… The crew wanted to know where I came from and Himmler appeared to ask for peace terms and I hit him over his head with a giant candy-floss?

There was a lot more but I could not decipher me writing. Huh!

Checked me emails.

Made up some graphics to use later with Coreldraw X7.

Took the bags to the refuse chute.

BJ rang, he’s coming at 1200hrs (Heard that before bless him) to kindly run me to the old place to collect some stuff and bring it to the flat for me.

I took me crossword book down with me and waited at the foyer for him to arrive.

He rang at 1215hrs, to tell me he’s on his way.

He ran me to Carrington and the old house.

Much lifting soDSCF0116rting and carrying later (Oh me back!) we were on our way back to the flat. When we arrived we carried the many bags into the foyer area, ready to lift into the building, the lift, then flat.

City Home’s Deana and another lady helped us carry them to the lift, then came with us on the lift and helped us carry them into the flat and front room! Most appreciated that was – bless them.

Boy have I some sorting to do here.

I’m not going to do any yet with them mind – going to get the carpets sorted first, but not until I get the repairs out-of-the-way.

Glendora Age UK volunteer should be here tomorrow, to do some phoning for me. Decent of her.

Brought the old computer with us to the flat today. Amazingly, the battery was still on 100%?

Had a bit of hassle getting Virgin internet connected but got there in the end.

Steve from Age UK arrived and we had a natter, he gave me some Carpet places to ring. He tried to ring the NHS to get me address changed but no one there.

DSCF0117Made him a cuppa Welsh tea and he was off.

Got me nosh ready.

Did some Facebooking then watched a Dr Who DVD.

Tired now… but happier than I’ve felt in a while… Oh dear… Shouldn’t have said that should I?

Mon 13 July 2015: Inchcock Today: No hot water – INR blood-test – Prescriptions – Moved some stuff from old place – Bus ride to Arnold to get what I couldn’t get cause they had none in!

cropped-main3.jpgMonday 13 July 2015

DraughtsUp at 0110hrs: At least I got some sleep in.

Not so cold this morning, but I could feel the draughts coming in via the corner in the kitchen when I got up – Brrr!

Cleared me sleeping togs and made a cup of tea. No hot water again.

Mind racing again trying to remember what I had to do, INR blood tests at the GP surgery, visit from City Homes 1300hrs. Must try to get some bits from the old place and call at the chemists to see about prescriptions.

Had to stop missen taking me medications too early – must remember to take them later though.

Laptop on and finished off yesterdays diary.

DuSepiaDid a bit of Facebooking, then did some graphicationalisationing on Coreldraw x7 and Corelpaint. Thought this one of Duncan came out good.

I was pleased with the outcome for once.

It was from a photo I took of him yesterday and I tried to make it look aged and sepia like.

Another cuppa (I must cut back on these) and took me medications around 0500hrs.

Got in a bit of a pickle when saving some of the worked on photo’s – as I’d saved them in CPT (Corel PhotoPaint) format and of course they were not acceptable for loading on here. Had to reload and save them again in the other programme in Jpeg.

Got a letter for the previous tenant Margaret and on me way out for a walk to the GP surgery fer me INR tests I dropped it off to my heroine Deana at the community shed, and mentioned me email I’d sent about no hot water. She’s going see if they can have a decker at it.

Walked to the end of Chestnut Way and down to the bottom of Winchester Street and along Mansfield Road into Carrington to the surgery, 24 minutes.

Several infamous Nottingham Pavement Cyclists en-route. Tsk… gits!

Got in the surgery and the nurse called me in after ten minutes or so. I like this nurse, she’s patient with us old fogies. She had a look at the healing skin cancer wound for me – all looking good. Then she checked appointments –  apart from the INR tests that will come in, no appointments at the moment until the 27th July.

Then she checked that I had changed me address on the computer and it was in alright – but the INR test results from the hospital keep getting sent to the old address.

Took me blood samples and showed concern over me bruising on the wrist still not clearing – but said this happens when your INR level is too high – which I didn’t know for sure cause I wasn’t getting the results and doses through the post.

DSCF0107I thanked her and set off a a little walk to the chemists. Where me nonthly prescription were ready to be picked up.

Then nervously made me way, keeping to the middle of the road and avoiding any of the alleyways I made me way to the old flea-pit.

I couldn’t help but be so glad I’ve moved when I saw the view of the road when I DSCF0104turned the corner into it.

Although there was nobody around, I could hear the music blasting away from the house opposite.

At least it had not been broken into in me absence.

I had a good hunt around and found some paperwork I might need and be of use for Glendora if she comes on Wednesday. Then had a hunt round and got some bits, books, pliers, socks and sundry I would need, but the two bags along with the stack of medications limited how much I could carry back to the flat. Still, a bit of progress of sorts achieved?

Got me bus-pass, locked-up and struggled to the bus-stop with me two bags. Dropped off in Sherwood, and went in the Dentist to alter me address there. The receptionist there was an Obergruppenfurher type as well. I came out a bag of nerves! Hehe!

Then a bit of luck for once – I was going to walk down and up the Winchester Street Hill back to the flats – but I checked at the bus-stop and an N9 inbound bus was due in 1 minute! Great! Especially as it was beginning to rain a bit.

Got off outside the block and made me way up to the flat -saw nobody on the way, which surprised me a tad as there are 200 flats in the block, and 146 of them are doubles.

Got in and put me bags in front room for sorting later, made a cuppa, WC’d for the fifth time today. Put the medications on the window ledge in the kitchen. And got the laptop on.

Put the JR radio station on the internet and listened to some Jazz ballads while doing this diary.

I actually heard a noise, and i was in he kitchen with the door closed -It was the Mail being delivered. Five for Margaret the previous tenant and one for me – from Nottingham City Homes informing me they were coming to change the flat door lock to a Suited Lock on 16th July twixt 1230 and 1630hrs. The idea being that when I pop me clogs or lay bleeding to death like, they (The City Homes folk) can get into the flat, cause they will have keys.

Added this appointment to the others on me Google diary.

Awaiting Deana (I think she said she was calling around 1300hrs – but…) and Iceland delivery. If both happen in time, I’d like to catch the bus into Arnold and back. See if I can get any bargains at the Fulton food store.

Still waiting for either or both…

IMG_0068It’s trying to rain again, overcast.

Still waiting for either or both…

Didn’t fancy going out on the balcony today – the rain made it look a bit slippery to me!

Still waiting for either or both…

Iceland arrived and I put away the nosh post haste and go missen ready to go on the Outbound L9 bus (Bless that free bus-pass) at 36 minutes past the hour that arrives in Arnold at 11 minutes past the hour, this gives me 19 minutes to do me shopping and catch the 30 minutes past the hour (Same bus on way back) into the flats. I think I’ve got it worked out right.

I only wanted three things and thought I’d get them all at Fultons Foods. Lemons, lamb shanks and microwave sausages.

Got into Arnold, nipped through onto Front Street and came out opposite Fultons.

They had none of any of em in stock! So I got some blackcurrant ice-cream lollies instead.

So I legged it back to the bus stop the other side of where I dropped off and caught the bus, it was three minutes early – luckily I was too!

DSCF0110If I’d missed it, there were no more direct buses and I’d have had to bus to town, bus out to Sherwood and have that long drag walking up the hill to the flats. Hey-ho.

It was drizzly and getting dark as I dropped off at the flats.

The driver saying “That was nippy shopping fella!”.

DSCF0112Made me nosh, chips in t’oven, peas and sausages I had left in fridge in microwave fifteen minutes later, and sliced a tomato – had some bread thins with it – I had them delivered earlier from Iceland along with some vinegar at last to have wi me chips.

I need not have worried about the oven smoking and setting off the smoke alarm – none at all – BUT! the microwave poured smoke out when I opened it – scared me to death in case it set it off. Opened the window shut the door and wafted away – pity cause that made the meal less than warm enough once I got to eating it! Tsk!

The chips were okay, the sausages fine, the garden peas nice but not very hot – but the Polish tomato was bitter as heck! Had an apple, me medications and an iced lolly afterwards.

No message from Deana – so I assume I got the day wrong for her calling.

Still no hot water. I struggled having to boil

kettle fer a wash and shave earlier. However the immersion water heater lit up this time and I left it on for an hour – costs a lot to use those do.

Long day.

Sun 12 July 2015: Vicious draughts and the Perspicacious Visitation from Duncan

DraughtsSunday 12th July 2015

Up at 0415hrs. Reckon I got a good six hours kip in or thereabouts.

Nippy this morning – Brrr!

I stood a moment looking out of the kitchen window and felt severe draughts coming from the corner.

I felt around and located where they were coming from – no wonder I can’t get rid of me cold is it?

Took me quilt and throw from the kitchen into the bedroom and made a cuppa, got this laptop on and took a photo of where the draughts are coming from mainly. Including out from the draw and cupboard. Doctored it with arrows indicating the worst of the draughts this morning in Coreldraw X7.

Bits of memories of dreams I’d had come to me and I wrote them down:

Vaguely recall long queues at an ice-cream stall on a beach, people wearing rain coats hats and had umbrellas but it didn’t seem cold and wasn’t raining… I was not in the queue but hid in some sand dunes with some binoculars and a giant flask of tea, each time I poured a cup I fell into it?

WC’d, little Inch bleeding again, and the haemorrhoids joined in. If the wrist bruising doesn’t get any better, I’ll mention to the nurse at me INR blood tests tomorrow. Huh!

Made a cuppa and took me medications.

Still early so I did some Facebooking and checked and replied to me emails.

Did some graphicalisationing on Coreldraw X7 – getting used to it now – it’s the Serif Draw X6 I can’t get me head around.

Although the hot water wasn’t really hot enough to run a bath – I did. Had a quick shave (Yes, I cut missen again, under the chin this time fer a change like). Used me new non-slip mat – bit messy getting it fitted each time to use it and it really is not big enough, but there you go – hey-ho!

As I lay there for a few minutes, aghast at how me body was deteriorating like, I espied many paint splashes on the bath taps and sink from where I was – I counted them bit gave up at 100.

When I got out and started to cut me toe nails with great difficulty and pain, I spotted that painter had also spotted the wall heater  pedestal toilet and all the accoutrements with paint as well.

I miss Paul the painter yer know – but his memory will linger on for years… or as long as I last like. Hehehe!

Cleaned up the bathroom, got me togs on and made another cuppa, back on this laptop to update while I wait for Dunc’s arrival.

It’s still cold here this morning – I can see the trees a-swaying violently outside.

Did  graphic for Mike Steeden to use – involving Claret and the drinking of it!

Went down to meet Duncan and he arrived a few minutes later.

DSCF0089Went to greet him in the car park on the front. We got the chair out and up and ensconced in the flat in no time.

Dunc’ showed me how to sit in it the chair without falling out of it. Hehehe!

Gave him a chance to say his fond farewells to it like. Haha!

We had a jolly good chin-wag that I enjoyed immensely.

DSCF0084

Duncan here as he peruses the state of the place for me… good egg he is yer know!

Dunc’ brought me some seed and meal-worms for me pigeons, curried beans, Marmite crisps… I thought it was Christmas! Very decent of the man, and a decent man he is too!

After much talking and nattering, Dunc took a photographicalisation of me as I couldn’t resist trying the swivel chair he had kindly donated to me.

DSCF0094Duncan took a photograph of me as we were on the windy balcony, trying to escape it seems?

I managed a weak smile as I clung onto the bird repellent meshing.

But by Jimminee cricket it were so windy and cold out there.

We soon returned back inside – Brrr!

DSCF0092

A swarve Inchy has his first trial run in his new swivel chair, tended over by Duncan acting as his Carer. Hehe!

I tried to look casual in the photo, yer know relaxed, cool, at ease – so I battled to get me legs crossed and put on a convincing ‘I’m in no pain’ expression as I showed-off in me new chair ta Dunc had brought all the way from Birmingham just for me.

Dunc had to help me uncross me legs afterwards like – oh the pain! Hehehe.

Much laughter stories and anecdotes later, when it was time for Dunc to travel back to Birmingham, I thanked him for his kindness and support and then: CityRain!!!

Not me this time – Duncan!

DSCF0095

Thank heavens the keys were there!

Could he find his car keys – No!

We got down to his car, where he thought they may still be in the ignition. Thank heavens they were there!

Thus proving that Dunc and I have a natural affinity! (If that’s the right word?)

I’m not saying what it is… as if I needed to?

Waved Dunc the Lad off. Sadly.

Decided I was hungry enough to have a decent nosh today when I got back inside the flat.

DSCF0099So, updated this diary and then got me lamb and veg nosh with added roast parsnips and some of Duncan’s curried beans wot he’s brought me prepared for demolishing.

Tiredness and weariness suddenly overcame me, I could do nothing but savour the taste of the nosh and relish the memories of Duncan’s visit.

Took me medications, and got me head down – but I kept waking up every few minutes it seemed for some reason?

Gave up at 0120hrs and rose made a cuppa and updated this diary.

So weary and tired, but content despite worrying about all the things that needed doing that weren’t getting done.

Cheers folks.

Sat 11 July 2015: Inchcock Today – Whoopsiedangleplop encountered!

Saturday 11 July 2015

DSCF0061

0540hrs: Out of the kitchen window – Wonderful!

Up at 0500hrs: Mind racing trying to remember what I had to do, I knew there were some important things that I didn’t have time to do yesterday. But could I find the list wot I wrote yesterday?

No!

The skin cancer wound was itching like mad again, the little Inch had not been bleeding so much thankfully, Anne Gyna was a tad bothersome, Arthur Itis not too bad yet. Ulcer okay despite me having had me chips last night, the hernia playing up, but with all the lifting I’ve been doing I sort of expected this.

Had a dizzy spell when I got up and moved the quilt throw and jammies into the empty bedroom. Bit bothered about this, I don’t usually get them early in a morning?

Probably all the hassle and worry about so many things to get sorted yet and no progress being made.

At least it’s weekend now, so I should have time to get some things done without appointments.

Duncan, a cyber-mate is coming on Sunday to see me – not only that, he’s bringing a swivel chair he no longer uses for me! That is really kind of him and appreciated. Lifted me this news did. He said he’ll be here early on Sunday – I’m really looking forward to meeting him.

Lynt02This will be the second cyber-buddy I’ve met. Lynton Cox (A grand bloke) came to see me at the flea-pit earlier this year, and we had a jolly good chin-wag and he helped me with advice and encouragement too. Another decent sort indeed a bit special my Cyber-mates are.

He treated me to a nosh in a cafe as well.

Made a cuppa and took me medications.

Noticed that the bruising on me wrist that DSCF0062no one seemed concerned about when I tripped on a lose kitchen floor tile and reported it to the City Home Obergruppenfurher, had got bigger?

They just may read this and feel guilty about ignoring me plea for the tiles to be secured? Or not like.

Hey-ho, I’ve glued it down now, hopefully.

I checked the bus time-table, there are only four buses to town on a Saturday. First one at

1030hrs. Last one back from town at 1505hrs. Still, better than a Sunday there are no buses on Sundays. Still, the pensioners free bus-pass is getting less use.

I keep checking the hot water situation, but it is not hot enough to have a wash in yet, let alone have a shave – back to boiling a kettle then later perhaps? Not good!

Made another cuppa and carried out the porcelain functions. No blood from the haemorrhoids.

So busy it’s unbelievable – I had hoped that when I got to old age things would settle down and be easier. But no, it’s more hassle and hecticness than ever before – can’t remember half the things I need to do, let alone get them done.

Still no hot water Tsk!

Did some Facebooking and started this blog off.

BusTTPut a photo of the bus time table on TFZ, here it is.

Eight trips to town on a weekday, four on a Saturday and none – yes, not any on a Sunday.

This will take some getting used to.

I thought about sorting the carpets out and then thought maybe best to get all the repairs out of the way first? I don’t know, feel so alone and useless at the moment.

So much to do and nowt much getting done like.

Not feeling too good now for some reason, feeling a bit queasy and light headed. Oh dear.

CityRain I decided I had time to make up some pots of medications – oh dear…

Just about half way through them and noticed as I counted each pot, that one of the morning pots only had 8 pills in it – worked out which was missing (Beta-blocker) and opened the cupboard above to get some out and Arthur Itis made me fingers stiffen and do their own thing and I knocked over the boxes that fell onto the open pots below that I’d just made up, spilling them all over the damned place.

Took me ages to sort them out, throw away the ones that had been on the floor and checked to see that the right pills were replaced in each pot. By then it was getting close to the bus coming time and I had to rush and have a wash and shave in semi-warm water – naturally I cut missen shaving again. Wot a plonka!

L9route1Got missen ready and things that I need (I hoped) for the trip in me bag and set off to the bus-stop.

I caught the L9 bus and enjoyed the elongated route it took to town.

No idea how the driver got it through the tortuous side roads it had to take.

The locals on the bus were in a chatty mood between them themselves – by the time we had gotten into town I was particularly worried about Enid and her arthritis in her left shoulder.

And Gladys was desperate to find and buy a tea-cosy like the one her mum had knitted for her in 1944.

A chap who’s name was not mentioned was running low on hearing-aid batteries.

DSCF0065I hobbled down Queen Street across the slab square and down Exchange Walk to the bank.

I asked for and got, some 20p pieces I could save to use in the flats launderette. Then had to see an advisor to get me address changed.

She informed me that I had got me security code numbers wrong on two occasions, and they had to be changed. Huh! If I couldn’t remember those how do you expect me to remember a new one!

Ah-well, she suggested if I had a new flat, I could use that number and the number of the old house or visa-versa. I was getting headache now. After much mind puzzling thought I came up with random numbers and just hoped I’d remember them. (Mmm…) we’ll see.

Left and went to call at the Jessops camera shop to ask them if they could show me how to change the size of photo’s stored on me card in the camera – but they were too busy.

I nearly set off to walk to the Audio Clinic – but being as keen as mustard and having a sharp alert brain – I’d only got half way there when like a shot, I realised it was Saturday. (Fool!)

DSCF0066So I poddled back down the hill into the City Centre.

Where I was glad to find the Nottinghomian citizenry had not lost their ability to ignore the red pedestrian crossing lights on Red.

I only saw two or three pedestrian cyclist in town today as well.

On me way to the Pound Shop I passed a DSCF0068couple of newly wedded personages outside the old Victoria Hotel, now named the Hilton Hotel on Milton Street.

I took photo of them so Mike and Shirley, or any other couple could do some reminiscing like.

The Jaguar E type they had hired wasn’t half stinking of petrol – a leak there somewhere there must have been. Even the shoplifters nearby where mentioning it – but the happy couple didn’t seem to mind.

I was a bit bonifate in avoiding a turbo-charged Mobility Scooter driven my an aged lady with gritted teeth and a stare on her face that said without sound “Move!”

got to the pound shop and got some bits I thought I might need – a strainer, two fresh air citrus bulb things that I can’t make smell of anything when I got back to the flat?, oven tray for me chips, laptop hoover, a box of tea bags, a mug and a little sewing kit. I ask you, wot a plonker! Buying a sewing kit with my arthritic hands? Huh!

So, onward to Tesco and got some bread thins. some individual long life Carnation milk pots in case I run out of milk again and some New Zealand apples. Nice they are, very juicy and crisp!

Had a while before the bus back was due, so had a plod around the slab square amidst the roller-bladers, skateboarders and shoplifters having a rest and bite to eat.

Caught the bus back to Woodthorpe Court. 01topa

Dropped off the bus at Woodthorpe Court and as I entered noticed the laundry had a free machine and drier – so went up and deposited me bags and took me laundry down to do. Cause hopefully tomorrow when Dunc’ the Man comes I’ll be busy like having a great chin-wag.

DSCF0069When I got in the room one of the washing machines had no water? So I used the other one. Not used that one before and it was different to t’other one and I last me money first go. Tsk! Tried again and got it right. Went into the foyer with me crossword book and had a chat with some of the ‘girls’ having their hair done in the next room.

Transferred the clothes into the drier, they seem to have been cleaned well and did me DSCF0070cross-wording again in the foyer.

Two police officers arrived and ran to the lift and up to a flat or other.

Hello I thought! Well, yer would wouldn’t yer like?

The officers cam back down and out to their car, looking very gloomy-faced?

I went out fro a walk as the drier takes an hour to finish.

I soon came back in sharpish – blimey the weather up ‘ere don’t half change quick. Talk about blowing a storm up, the wind was cruel! Mind you, they have given heavy rain out fer Sunday and Monday.

I thought the drier had done an excellent job again. Said me cheerio’s to the gals and made me way back up to the flat.

Put the togs in the airing cupboard – and put on the immersion heater as the water was cold again.

DSCF0071I opened one of the pound shop Air bubbles and could smell nothing at all?

Zilch in the aroma stakes!

I tried to read the instructions on the other one but it was impossible – the letters looked like dots they were so small. Huh!

Hey-ho!

DSCF0073Made a nice strong cup of tea, well mug of tea with the pound shop tea ‘D’ bags.

Laptop on and updated this tripe.

Found a good station on the internet – listening to Big Band Swing at the moment on there Jazz section.

Bloomin’ good stuff! and free!

Big Band Swing music classics.

Just made a cuppa and toyed with the lemon air freshener thingy again – I now have a lemon scented kitchen floor, slippers and trousers.

going to do some Facebooking now although it’s getting late fer me – I’m all excited about Dunc coming to see me.

TTFN.

Fri 10 July 2015: Inchcock Today: Oven chips and a new Heroine!

Friday 10 July 2015

DSCF0058

0330hrs: View from the kitchen window

Up at 0250hrs: took me quilt and throw into the bedroom, from the kitchen where I’d been trying to kip – WC’d kettle and laptop on – and took a photo from through the kitchen window.

Then started the flat-wide search for me hearing aids!

Found them in plain view on top of the fire surround in the living room on me third search of the living room. Tsk!

The haemorrhoids were bleeding, the angina worse than it’s been for ages and the skin cancer wound a bit naughty and stinging again.

But, all in all I was not too bad – then when I opened WordPress I’d got an offer from Dunc of a free office swivel chair – and he offered to delivery it for me! That made my day, thanks Dunc!

Here I am, sat sitting in me only chair on the laptop (without me hearing aids in)… and realised what the clonking noise was throughout the night. It was the fridge freezer letting me know it’s still working.

Took me medications. Made a cuppa, but could not face any porridge again this morning – I think the nerves are playing up a tad, stomach joining in with me other ailments, churning away. Huh!

I’ve got one of the City Home ladies calling today (Not the Frau Obergruppenfurher Kommandant, but Deana Walker, my Independent Living Co-ordinator. To have a talk about things.

I’ll have to call in at the GP sometime to clarify the date of me next INR blood checks. And call at the bank to make sure they have me new address – and… Oh it’s too much. Wouldn’t be so bad but everyone keeps telling me to phone them and I really can’t hear what many of them are saying and make errors… Me mind is ready to explode… still, there won’t be much collateral damage. Hehe!

Made some notes of things to remember that need doing – but it is a long and confusing list – wouldn’t be so bad if I could read me own writing!

Got me bag of rubbish ready to take to the rubbish chute and letter to take to the shed… then could I find the door keys? – No!

After 40 failed minutes searching the same place I’d already searched I decided I was going potty! I’d come back from me walk last evening so I had them then… Searched all the bags, laundry bag, cabinets and cupboards, storage box’s to no avail – frustrated and annoyed with myself I was – when Deana arrived for her interview session.

She dug in searching with me again – we’d got to point where I thought they ain’t here!

And then… 01topa

After ten minutes she found them in the laundry bag in me pyjama pocket!

01topWell Done Deana Walker!

Saved me bacon there she did – and me sanity too!

She then conducted the interview of sorts taking all me details as required by Nottingham city Homes.

She fitted the Lifeline Connect system.

That’s where I can call for help when if I think I’m going to conk-out.

Waiting now for the Tesco delivery.

Then I hope to get a bus into town and change me address with the bank, hearing aid batteries from the audio centre and call in Jessops to get help with the camera. But I forgot about the Tesco delivery.

I put the oven on ready so I could put me oven chips and roast parsnips in when the delivery arrived. (Says him salivating at the thought)

Having sausages and petits-pois with em I reckon, they are ready in the tray to be microwaved.

The delivery arrived and I put the nosh in the oven first, then put away the frozen food that came.

DSCF0060And do you know… there was a French Horn Fresh cream cake with them… don’t know FibModehow that got in the order. (Cough cough)

I’m somewhat disappointed with the oven chips after waiting for three years to get some again – they were a disappointment – with me recent experiences with Tesco I should have known and expected less. I bought some ‘Tesco brand Homestyle oven chips’… tasteless! Such a let-down! Boo!

The skin cancer wound is itching like mad now. Huh! Just can’t resist having a good scratch and rubbing me shoulder against the door edge.

Got me quilt cushion and throw, fashioned a bed on the kitchen floor got down and read some of me, Berlin the downfall by Anthony Beevor, and this time I did nod-off quickly, despite me brain being confused and ever active. And… I don’t think I woke up during the 6 hours before I  sprang awake.

Inchcock: Woodthorpe Court Situation Update

Asda

Woodthorpe Court – Situation Update

Pandemonium, panic, confusion, Whoopsiedangleplops, calamities, mix-ups, medical mayhem and insanity best describe things at the moment here at Woodthorpe Court

IMG_0018The furniture.

Not a lot of furniture in the flat yet I admit.

I took this photograph on the left of it.

I got it from the charity shop £8 – then bought two tie-on cushions to make it less painful for me haemorrhoids.

This didn’t work out so well.

A tie broke first time I sat on it. By the time the painter had left, all the ties were broken on it. Tsk!

DSCF0050The lifts are speedy and the grandeur of Woodthorpe Court is shown by the quality of the 12th floor lift area.

The designer décor seems to be of a 1940 style with simulated bomb damage.

Perhaps the Nottingham police used the lobby as a training area for their fingerprint apprentices?

IMG_0051The fridge freezer eventually arrived.

I’ve even got food in it – Not a lot! – but food at last.

This is the most affectionate fridge-freezer I’ve ever come across.

It calls out to me every now and then with a clunk-shudder to let me know it’s still there and need some attention and or affection?

Currys supplied this little gem.

So be warned. Model Logik LFC50512. Cheapest model available.

IMG_0052The cooker, also supplied by Currys and the cheapest model available CFSEWH/14.

They advise you to burn rings and oven on full power for so long before using.

Be warned: If there is a smoke alarm fitted and working within 2 miles radius of the location of this machine, expect it to go off!

It has a nice misleading smile though.

Still awaiting its first use – lurking smiling as if it knows something you don’t – bit worrying that.

IMG_0025Some food in the cupboard at last too.

Luckily I’d got a little screwdriver and Allen-key multi-pack set things.

They came in very handy for adjusting the doors so they almost fitted flush with the cupboard sides.

You may notice the inordinate amount of baked beans in comparison to other products?

That is because I like baked beans, especially after I’ve marinated them a mix of mustard, mild curry powder, sultanas, Marmite, black pepper, sea salt, Worcester sauce, bacon crumbles, unrefined Demerara sugar and dried onions for a day before heating em up.

IMG_0050The fan heater in the kitchen is of particular interest.

The turn-on switch needs a stepladder to reach to activate it – and I do not have a stepladder – so, it is economical not to run?

Not that that matters, because the first time I tried it the pull string came off in me hand and the casing cracked.

IMG_0053The plastic Asda storage bins (Made in the UK) are sitting awaiting location decisions in this photo.

Since then I have put one set of three drawers in the bathroom where they can resist the damp due to their being made of plastic. I’m quick yer know!

The drawers take a bit of effort to pull out as they tend to bring the rest of the them with em at the same time.

But failures like this I have got used to over the years and take it with a pinch of salt.

Talking of salt, I dropped me pot of Himalayan Red sea salt yesterday and broke it.

Bent down to clean it up – nice new bruising on me arm where I banged it on the door as I avoided banging me head on the wall as I toppled over.

IMG_0057Used the laundry room for me washing for the first time the other day. The driers take an hour, but they are good.

Took a photo of one of the machines and realised I’d caught the bruises on me wrist where I tripped over a loose floor tile in the kitchen the day before.

I mentioned this to the staff in case they were worried about the elderly residents Health and Safety. They weren’t!

IMG_0060The entrance to the flat.

Looking rather gloomy – and this is after the so-called painter had done his work.

Still, now he’s finished I can eventually when I find the time, enjoy cleaning up all the paint splashes all over the flat, he managed to sprinkle paint everywhere, even gave me cleaning things a sprinkling of paint, me clothes, the bath, the sink taps, the kitchen sink area looked like it had been snowing.

Still, yer don’t like to complain does yer.

IMG_0061Ah, the bedroom.

Vincent Price could have used this as a location for one of his horror films.

Gawd it’s cold in there.

Of course many past residents must have clocked out in there over the years I suppose, so understandable.

IMG_0062The living room.

A little sparse of furniture innit?

I can’t get any carpets in yet, as the repairmen have to come and mend the floor panelling at the bottom of the walls – sink they have come loose.

Some paint left over from the decorator – well I say decorator…

IMG_0063Me bathroom.

I must get a large cabinet fitted. The Age UK people have a list of Trusted Suppliers yer know – the Decorator who splashed the paint on in the flat for me was one of them. So I do not feel confident in getting a ‘Trusted supplier’ via them to do me carpets or fit me cabinet… oh dear, problems problems…

Still the hot water supply seems to be getting better. But we’ll see.

IMG_0059The kitchen is me living room, study and bedroom at the moment.

The microwave is working now.

The cooker is operative but I’m too scared to use it.

The clunk-clank fridge freezer is hammering away.

I still need a proper waste bin and curtains cause the sun is showering heat onto the fridge and I have nowhere to move the fridge out-of-the-way.

DSCF0044Internet and phone connection completed.

Virgin media have fitted me up.

The internet connection was perfect to start with.

Since the second day I keep losing the connection now and then – fancy that? As if it could happen to me? Hehe.

MPelec15The land-line phone.

 Up and working.

I’ve had three calls on it up to now.

Every one a wrong number!

Hey-ho.

It’s been used to dial out and has big number and a clearish signal.

Not that I can afford to use it.

DSCF0042Repairs.

Many things needed putting right.

Many things still need putting right.

The kitchen, under the sink false draw-front collapsed, shelf below supports broke and window too stiff to open.

IMG_0064A bloke did open it for me all the way round so I could clean the outside – but 4 holes in the frame let stale rainwater run out when it was upside down and drenched the kitchen, soaked me paperwork, splashed on the microwave etc….

This they had arranged to do yesterday – but due to the emergency INR level blood test needed had to be re-arranged for Monday 20th July.

Kitchen Air-vent coming off the wall – arranged for the 17th July.

Living room panelling came away. To be tended 17th AsdaJuly.

In the dark and dingy windowless passage the immersion heater that doesn’t always work was mentioned, but no one came to look at it. Here it is switched on, but no power light?

Smoke detector test arranged for 29th July.

The kitchen tiles that had come loose and I tripped over causing bruising didn’t seem to worry them, so no action taken.

But, however and notwithstanding all this…

I love it!

All but the cold at night!.

Thu 9 July 2015: Inchcock Today – Oh dear…

Thursday 5th July 2015

Up at 0225hrs. Had to kip on kitchen floor on a quilt with throw over me and plenty of clothes on – Gawd it were cold!

Cramps were not so bad last night, and little ‘Inch’ was bleeding far less. Angina not so good, the wrist improving, reflux valve naughty and worried about what  the day will bring.

Cuppa and medication taken. Laptop on.

I got a nice comment from Kentucky Angel. It’s so nice that I have folk who show compassion and would be lost without them in these trying times.

Today is a bit of pressure, cause I’ve got two repair men calling – and hope that they arrive in time and get the jobs done for me to get to me emergency INR blood-level test at the Doctors. And I have utilities and bank to call to change me details. Also I’d hoped to get back to the old place so I can collect some warmer clothing and carry it back to the flat. Ah-well.

Where the hospital took the sample of skin cancer from is really itching this morning, getting harder to resist scratching at it. Hehe!

WC’d.

I’m looking forward to living a semi-normal existence and finding time to relax a bit – but not much hope of that yet. Tons of work sorting and anguish to go through before that can be achieved. So busy and frustrated with not being able to get things done. Doing this diary is taking up much of me time, but I love doing it so, and get such pleasure when people respond to it and I learn of others problems and admire the way they cope. Apart from one night, I’m not sleeping well at all, so doing the diary when this happens is not too bad.

Need to sort carpets out, rang Steve but no answer, well he is busy and has got many old foggies to tend to.

I need help with the paperwork and getting utilities sorted, but nothing seems to happen and I’m getting a backlog of things that are urgently needing attention. Steve Age UK has not been  answering my calls, and Age UK Wendora is only available on Wednesdays – she is a volunteer and I appreciate her efforts. This week nothing got done due to me not having the details that the utilities needed. I feel like giving up… oh dear, feeling sorry fer missen agen! Sorry.

I blame the medications yer know… Hehehe!

DSCF0042The maintenance/repair men coming today (I hope early) should be mending the cupboard and shelf under the sink.

I’ve emptied everything out ready for them.

Caretaker Robert is coming (I hope) to look at me cooker to see if he can connect it, he said he would source the wires needed for me. Thank heavens for some help, especially from people I hardly know. Much appreciated. Especially as I’ve got some oven chips coming tomorrow from Tesco (Then I can return the broken clock and crushed cakes they delivered last time – Tsk!). Looking forward to having them, getting withdrawal symptoms yer know – not had any for many months now… well, over a year really. I must remember at all costs not to do any when I’m tired – last time long ago I fell asleep and the cooker actually burst into flames. Oh dear bad memories!

DSCF00450500hrs: Still a bit gloomy out there.

I’m in a bit of a depressed mood methinks? Worried about things not getting done that need urgent attention, and me mind is anywhere but where it should be at the moment. Poor old devil, Hehe!

I’ve got to get the carpets sorted out, DSCF0044but Steve not answering his phone (Hope he’s alright) I need him to contact an Age UK recommended supplier. As soon as the carpets are done, I can try to find an easy chair to get. It’s not nice not having somewhere to sit in comfort – the chair and cushion I got is not the most comfortable and if I nod-off I’ll fall off it! Ha-ha!

DSCF0046I’m going have a bath and shave now.

By gum that’s better – and I had the added entertainment of cleaning off the paint splashes the decorator left me with, better than a rubber duck. Tsk! hehe!

Did you notice the carbolic soap? A much underrated soap indeed. Fresh smelling and reminds me of the old days.

0635 hrs. now, all ready nice and early for the workmen to arrive – too early but still.

DSCF0047Noticed the bruising coming up again on me wrist, and the skin cancer wound becoming bothersome – maybe with my INR level so high and blood so thin?

I wrote the other day of how I likes this Virgin Internet connection – I take that back, kept losing it this morning. Tsk!

0920hrs – getting concerned that the men will arrive on time to do the jobs in time for me to get to me appointment at the surgery…

I took the letters that had arrived for the previous tenant to the shed and handed them to the Frau Obergruppenfurher Camp Kommandant – boy was she her usual bundle of joy!

I explained about the situation with the emergency INR tests and the repair men due. she said: Suit yerself, cancel them if yer want to! I sarcastically thanked her and made a hasty retreat to a safe distance and went back to the flat.

I ran into caretaker Robert on the way and told him of me problems and he phoned them, cancelled today and got another date for Monday 20th July twixt 0930 and 1400 hrs made for me.

I asked him about the storage sheds things and how do I get into them. He showed me the code and said I should have a key – which I don’t of course.

Got up to the flat, nibbled a cooked sausage, made a cuppa and went to amend the dates of the kitchen repair on me diary – then found at the same time I had a Cardiac appointment – Why is life so complicated fer me – I suppose it is for others but…. hey-ho!

Robert is going to see me later about sorting the cooker connection out bless him..

When I go to the surgery today I’ll mention it to the nurse. (Best laid plans are often thwarted by a bad memory eh?)

Got missen ready taking the reminder list with me and set off on me marathon walk to the old place and surgery. Must pick up paperwork and warm clothing, as much as I can carry back – not a lot there then.

Back in a couple of hours.

I’ve made it back…

Hobbled into Carrington and got some bits from the old dump – warm coat, sweater, some paperwork, batteries, underwear, socks, radio, attack alarm and cleaner.

Then went to the GP surgery and the nurse listened to me moans, took me blood for  the INR test. She was very kind over the clash with the Cardiac blood test and the rearranged kitchen repair team coming on the 20th, and said when she gets the INR results for today’s test with the next appointment date she’ll let me know and try to do the Cardiac at the same time. Bless her cotton socks!

DSCF0048Limped back into Sherwood (The bags seemed inordinately heavy?), for some reason.

Up Winchester Street and back to the Woodthorpe Court flats.

I wus well shattered by then.

Got in put me things away and the paperwork to sort out later.

Made a cuppa and updated this monologue.

Listened to radio 3, nice piece of piano music on.

1450hrs: Robert should be here soon.

Got the paperwork sorted that I got from the old place – I hope they are the one’s Glendora wants?

Cleaned some more splattered paint off the sink area – how come I couldn’t see it before?

Barry Took is presenting a radio show on Radio 4 Extra at 1600hrs called ‘Guess What’ a revival of the old animal mineral or vegetable quiz show. Should be interesting if I can get to listen to it.

Robert turned up, tool bag and thick wires in hand and set about doing the cooker fitting for me.

Much banging and swearing later he’d finished fitting it – and covered the smoke detector with a carrier bag and masking tape (which luckily I had brought with me to the flat this very day!)

I gave him a tenner and some DVDs and he seemed content. Off he went telling me as he left the flat to leave the smoke detector covered until I use it fort he first time tomorrow.

I nibbled some polish sausages with a cuppa and got on with this diary.

DSCF0049The wind seemed to have dropped a bit and a while after I took this photo the sun came out and I squinted as I passed the window and I Whoopsiedangleplopped me good foot on the edge of the cooker – very nearly swore I did. HeheI decided to go out for a little walk into Woodthorpe Park and take some photographicalisations of the place.

I’m off now again – back in a little while (I hope).

Back sooner than planned… I’ll tell yer about it…

DSCF0050Off I poddled to the lift and down to the ground floor.

Feeling okay at this stage of the expedition.

Passed the locker room, hairdressers and laundry room.

Out into the daylight.

DSCF0051Very warm in the sunshine, not many folks about around this area.

Feeling okay at this stage of the expedition.

Had a little ponder on which way to go, and decided the Muggers Alley was not suitable, left was the way out to Winchester Street – so went straight DSCF0052ahead and up the stony footpath hill that all the doggy walkers, skateboarders and scooterists use.

Up to the top and over to the brow of the hill.

I avoided the interests of a Scottie-dog who seemed to take a dislike to me.

DSCF0054Down the other side were several pitch and putters having an evening round of mini-golf.

At this stage me feet and legs reminded me of the marathon walk I’d already done earlier – cor blimey were they stinging. Tut! Thought I’d make it a short walk in that case.

DSCF0055As I turned to look back I took a photographicalisation of both blocks of flats, the nearest being Woodthorpe Court, the far one Winchester Court.

The night was really warm, well the sun was just like yesterday, until it went in the wind got up and it turned so cold! I expect the same tonight.

I thought thinkingly… if anyone is likely to get a golf ball belting into his head, now who would that be? So decided to walk around the course and got over it.

DSCF0056Then as I started walking – and boy did it come on quick like – the urgent need for the use of the WC arrived, so back down the track to the flats fast as I could… Tsk!

Just made it in time, close, but I made it.

Laptop on to complete the diary.

I was thinking about the Warfarin situation and whether or not or how many I should take tonight – and at that time the surgery rang to inform me. None tonight – 2 Friday – 2.5 Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed, & Thurs. Next tests?

DSCF0057I hope the NHS have me new address to send the readings to.

Got me nosh ready fer cooking later.

Any guesses what it is?

Ah… the toilet beckons again…

Oh dear!

Wed 8 July 2015: Inchcock Today – Amazing discovery!

Wednesday 8 July 2015

0301

Up at 0450hrs: Dream memories back at last:

I was on a plane with several other people, none that I recognised. The seats were toilets… and we were singing and smiling at each other, when a door opened and a smiling pilot with a giant bottle of oxygen on a trolley came into the cabin and started to spray us all with it? That’s all I recall, but better than nowt.

Got up an WC’d… bleeding from the little Inch again – Tsk! and put the hot water heater on.

Did a search for me paint-splattered clothes, made up a laundry carrier bag to use until I get a basket later sometime.

Went into the bathroom for a wash and shave, felt better then – despite having to clean off paint splashes from the taps, bath, floor and WC. Tsk!

Made a cuppa and took me medications. Laptop on to start the diary.

Bit nippy this morning so put me dressing gown on above me other togs. Brrr!

Glendora is calling today, no idea what time, just hope she doesn’t come when I’m at the clinic.

I must say I’m liking this Virgin internet connection up to now. It’s faster than BT broadband.

I’ll try to get Glendora to phone about me gas and electricity at the old place for me, just to get the gas cut-off.

I really must get the washing done down in the tiny laundry room before Glendora might come. Don’t want to do it too early in case the noise of the machines and water pipes bothers anyone sleeping late.

Oh dear, just had a little dizzy spell then. Huh!

Hey-ho, there are plenty of folk worse off than I am.

Checked me emails.

Go me bit of washing ready, soap capsules, fabric conditioner and crossword book and pne… as I went through the door into the passageway – I heard the Fire Alarm sounding – unsure of how long it had been sounding I proceeded with me washing to walk down the stairs, and met a bloke coming up the stairs. He said it went off 15 minutes ago, and the Fire Brigade had said it was safe to re-enter. Oh dear?

IMG_0057Proceeded down to laundry room and got the washing machine going without too much kerfuffle. Then started the drier and it said it took 60 minutes to dry, so went into the lobby with me crossword book, but I’d not got me reading glasses so that was the end of that idea.

The bruising on me wrist from Monday is going down nicely – Tst!

Glendora arrived ten minutes before the drier was due to finish. We went up to the flat. But I had not got the paperwork for her to sort out me Council tax or utility things – must get them for next Wednesday from the the old place when she comes again.

She did ring Tesco to complain about me broken clock and crushed cake for me and they said they would knock off the costs against a later delivery.

I nipped down and retrieved me well dried laundry from the drier and returned to the flat.

Walked Glendora back to her car. Then called at the shed to tell someone about my not hearing the Fire Alarm. Deana and the Frau Obergruppenfurher were there. Deana said she would call to see me on Friday about having a strobe fitted. I asked if Deana had an email I could send the list of medications I’m on instead of her struggling to read my writing. (I struggle to read my writing!)

Then I returned to the flat, having a little natter with some residents from the same floor near the lift, and made up me medication list and emailed it off to her.

Then the Amazing Discovery was discovered… I found an area of at least two foot by 6 inches in the living room without any paint splashes on it!

Just thought I’d mention it like…

I wanted to get back to the flea-pit but by the time I’d had me visitor and sorted the fire-alarm concern time had beaten me. The buses will stop running to the flats in two hours so I would not be able to get back in time.

Did a post for the LOMM site.

IMG_0058Had some nosh.

Made list of medications and emailed it to Deana.

Dizzy spell and I felt unwell.

Quickly got my head down…

Ten minutes later got a call on the mobile – wrong number…

Twenty minutes later, got a call on me mobile Repair men confirming tomorrows visit…

Ten minutes later the GP surgery rang – I’ve got to go in to have an emergency INR level blood test tomorrow for some reason the level has risen to 6.9! No wonder I was feeling cold with me blood that thin – Tsk! Take no Warfarin tonight!

I had to start the laptop to check me appointments, and there are plenty of them this week.

0301Now I have to hope that Caretaker Robert who is going to connect me cooker and the repairmen who are to do the kitchen repairs are on time so I can get to the GP surgery in time.

I gave up trying to get some sleep and carried on with this diary, made a cuppa and cried with frustration!

Getting dark early tonight – rain maybe coming.

Took me medications, making sure I’d thrown away the Warfarin tablets from the pot first.

Still feeling so tired and drained.

Sleep? What’s that then?
