MONDAY 13TH OCTOBER 2026

START TO THE DAY
I stirred at 0620hrs, feeling rather perky; that lasted a few minutes while I climbed out of the hospital bed and did my balance checks… Then hastily hobbled to the Porcelain Throne.
Although I made it in time, seconds to spare before the torrent blasted out of its own accord. The pebble-dashed bowl, combined with the stink, and worse, cleaning up of the mess, took me ages.
During the morning, follow-ups were frequent.
I kept a note of them on the pad. When Ejaz arrived, I took this snap of the visits paid. All the same style.

Carer Andrew arrived. His usual self again. On his phone and ignoring me as I spoke to him. Medications given; pain cel slapped on my back, onto his phone. No body check. No Catheter contraption check. Or Barrier cream checks. Not that it mattered much; Carer Prem did them all on his shorter visit last night.
Very frustrating, and I’ve heard nothing of the request to have the three good lads service me. At times like this I’m tempted to cancel them altogether and struggle on my own. But that was a stupid idea. They have me figuratively by the balls. Only when the three good lads call do I cheer up, but, of course, they don’t call at all later in the week or over the weekend. I’m paying a fortune but not getting the service they say I’m getting.
Unglefrogwonglingisations!

I was pressing on, then Ejaz arrived; great to have him talk about what needs doing, and caring too.

As he left, the dreaded confusion came over me like a blanket of unhappiness. I was incapable of doing much at all. My own thoughts were hard to gather and form into any kind of logic. I gave up on the computer and hoped to get some used cartoons later to make up for not waffling of much of usual.

GREAT job editing yourself into the comics!!
I feel your frustration with the bad carers and the emotional/mental crash after a good one left, even if the timing was coincidental. I’m very good at feeling invisible and hurt that people don’t check in or care about me. Often, it’s just not the right people or right method of checking in, but a lifetime of rejection has left me unable to ask for what I want. I was back in suicide ideation mode last week but have, luckily, snapped out of it.
Besides this blog, what do you do in your free time (no carers about; not cleaning or cooking)? I watch a LOT of old b/w tv shows. I read that a reason for doing so is that knowing the outcome is calming in this out of control world.
With things getting mentally and physically worse gal, I been days behind on the blogs, everything I do takes so much longer to get done nowadays. Everyweek medical appointments, which cost so much, time & cash. Carers, Taxis, Time.
I’m in the mood you have just come out of. Problems adding to things unsolved each day.
I’m trying not to get depressed again, but failing.
So many Whoopsiedangleplops cooking.
Hope you can keep away from those thoughts, petal, 🤞🏼👍🏻🥰
Thank you. I crashed again over the weekend.
I hope you magically escape the downward spiral!!
Great cartoons, re the ode I think you are very hard on yourself!
Fed-up, mate. New problems almost every day to add to the unsolved ones. I am strugglinga bit.
Still if I win the lottery I can afford a full-time Carer… Oh, forgot, I don’t gamble. Hahaha! All the best, Sir. 🫨
I don’t gamble either, much research shows the stats proving it is very hard to win.
Watching TV waiting to fall asleep when the football came on, I notice that one in three of the adverts were lotto appeals for charities, or games, bingo and other things for mobile phone gambling.
No thnk you; Especially with Government controlled Lotto ones. Must be a fiddle. Do you get them over there, mate? Keepeth well. 💙👍🏻
Online and phone gambling is big business here, so many debts and broken families and relationships. I think it is onscene that someone could win 100 mill 😡
Despite your problems that caused a disappointing start of the day, you managed to post some fantastic cartoons, Gerry. I hope you can handle the carer situations so that the results are positive. ❤️🙏
Thanks for that, Tim. A failied area, the Carers. Frustrated, so frustrated.
Still, I must try to press on. I think. Hehe!
