Inchcock Today – Wed 8th May 2019: Enough bad luck for anyone – yet still it comes!

Sethoso: Laboraro la 8 Mayi 2019

04:15hrs. I woke and lay there gathering some minuscule resemblance of appreciation, comprehension, and perception of what the hell I was doing, where, and who I was! But concentration soon formed, and recognition and understanding were thankfully grasped and retained. But I don’t mind telling you, those few scatty-moments, scared the hell out of me! I really thought another stroke was taking place. Phew!

Now in my usual only slightly confused state, the realisation of the need for a wee-wee became urgent. As I extracted my cumbersome overweight body from the £300 second-hand, c1968 rickety recliner, it became evident that the right leg was a lot worse this morning. It took some effort to control the shaking, and the pain in the knee took a while and some painkillers to dissipate.

The stick-assisted hobble to the WC took so long: I thought an accident might occur. But I got there in time; In time for the most sprayed out weak trickle! A new name for this type of wee-wee was given. RWPSWW (Reluctant-Weak-Painful-Spraying-Wee-Wee) It took me ages after the pathetic five-second evacuation, to clean up where the stuff had sprayed. The WC, floor, cabinet, sink, etc. The antiseptic disinfectant bottle is running very low now. Haha! I reckon the leg shaking so badly made things worse.

I had a wash and did the teggies, and got dressed. Not easy, with having to use the time-taking Sock-Glide. Limped in not a little pain with the leg, into the kitchen. (That sounds like I took the leg with me, which I did, of course, I had no choice in the matter… I’m losing it again here! Hehehe!)

I got the kettle on and took the medications with an extra pain-killer. Within half-an-hour the knee pain eased-off, when I was not using it. Made sure the Ankle-Support strapping was all ready for the Carer’s visit.

I got the computer on and checked the calendar for today. 07:00>08:00hrs Carer to fit the Ankle-Support strapping. 08:00hrs Anticoagulation blood test nurse. 09:30hrs: Occupational Therapy Nurse.  Axonotmesis (injury to the peripheral nerve of one of the extremities of the body [Legs]. The axons and their myelin sheath are damaged in this kind of injury. Although the endoneurium, perineurium, and epineurium may remain intact), nurse – sometime today.

Went on the WordPress Reader section. Then updated yesterdays blog diary. Then on Pinterest to add some photographs. Checked emails and responded to messages.

Again, I felt the need to make my way to the WC. This time was exactly like the first effort, but with the leg having steadied down on its shaking, I avoided too much ‘Spread-it-about-splashing’! Again it lasted only a few seconds but was a tad more determined this time. Then the need for an evacuation from the other end. At least I thought so, but only wind and pith escaped. Huh!

Back to the computer, and started this Inchcock Today off. It was not long, before more signs of my needing the Porcelain Throne arrived again. So, not taking any chances, I made my way to the wet room. No luck at all. Wind accompanied by an unpleasant aroma. But a sprinkle and weak spraying of RWPSWW followed? It seems that both evacuation areas are somewhat reluctant this morning. Humph!

I washed and off to the medical cabinet and took a Senna (to encourage the back end) and a Furosemide (in the hope of proper flowage from Little Inchy). Made a brew of tea.

The mist was clearing away, and I took this snap of the view from the unwanted new, light and view-blocking kitchen windows. I used this picture for a later background to Inchcock’s Thoughts on CorelDraw.

Back to the Porcelain Throne. There was still no movement, although the senses tell me there should be? Oh Heck!

The carer is due to do the Ankle-Support strap for me. Ah, here he is! All sorted within eight minutes. This chap has got the hang of the Ankle-Support strapping now, bless him.

I went on the TFZer Facebooking, and put some pictures from yesterday on the albums.

The rather glamorous and highly desirable, but too young and good looking for me (Dam it!) nurse arrived to take some blood for the INR Warfarin anticoagulation clinic. After she had departed, I made a mug of tea, while her: oh, so appealing face tormented me in my memory. Well, I can’t help it! Hehe!

I had a go at setting up the Coreldraw 2019, without any luck – made a right mess of it! I got in a right proper pickle! I gave up.

0935hrs: Caroline and Sonia, from the City Hospital Occupational Therapy Unit arrived. Much heavy going therapy followed, for an hour or so.

Sonia departed, leaving Caroline to do some Q & A and Therapy. (Aching all over, now, Haha!).

Lovely ladies, patient and kind. The session was finished around 11:35hrs.

I caught up with this blog up to here. And then took some black bags to the chute and recyclable stuff to the bins outside on the way to the bus and Arnold to go to Asda to get some bread and butter in.

Called at the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights, Hauptbereitschaftsleiteress Warden’s Temporary HQ. Sarcasm & Insult distribution area. Tenants Socialisationistical Meeting Shed. Telling Inchcock off Zone. Where things like crockery and pottery get stolen from, Rumourmongering Clinic, and somewhere to rest while waiting for the bus, Portakabin.

T’was raining, so no photographicalisationing on the way out. Met Frank in the hut and Cyndy joined us later, and a good gossip ensued as we waited for the bus. Cyndy got on the same one as I did, (For once I caught the right bus. Hehe!) A good chinwag en route. Cyndy kindly rang hubby Eric and arranged for him to call around 15:30hrs, to have a look at the wobbly handlebar on the three-wheel trolley for me. That was kind!

I dropped off the bus outside Asda and went in and got the shopping. Spent £10.40, so some will-power was used. Squash, Lemon Mousse, Potatoes (hopefully to be shared with Doris again at the weekend), Butter, mushrooms, turnip, carrot, parsnip, apple, and some Milk Rolls. I sneaked one in the freezer later for Jane when she calls again, but don’t tell her! Haha! Then over the road and some of the fantastic extra large eggs, to had to Cyndy or Eric helping. Some lemon ice cream and beef steaks on offer at Fultons Foods.

I thought I’d catch the L9 bus on its way to Bestwood, and stay on and come back all the way to the flats.

When the bus arrived, the lady driver asked if I was going to the flats, cause this bus is on change-over and I’ll have to get off and wait for the next bus from Bestwood. “Fair enough”, I said, cursing my luck! She heIped me off at the terminus. It wasn’t a long wait though. That driver also helped me onto the bus when it came.

In Arnold, a lady and her disabled wheelchair-bound son got on, and I moved to another chair to enable them to get in the disabled section. The kind driver helped them on and moved the lad and chair into position… belting on the right knee with the big electric chair as he did so. Apart from the pain, his intentions were good, Haha!

Back at the flats and I was getting weary as I walked back to the flat. Nobody about at all, but for me it was late, and tiredness dawned.

The weather looked a bit bleak, too.

And a wee-wee was much needed. Which I tended to first-thing. I may get out the EGPWWB (Emergency Grey Plastic Wee-wee bucket) later on, for fluids burst forth, not vigorously, but there was no controlling things! A bit like the VSFWBWWWs (Very Short Frequent-Weak-But-Wayward-Wee-wees)

Put the bits bought away, got some spuds on the boil, and I made a start on this update.

Eric and Cyndy arrived at 16:00 to have a look at the trolley. But Eric said, “Nowt can be done!” Ah, well, I’ll have to live with it rattling, then.

Got the oven on to warm up, ready for the beef steak.

Imbibed the evening medications with a drink of fresh orange juice.

16:00hrs: The hot water was cold! I presume that the electrics had tripped out again. It’s done that three or four times since I’ve been in the flat. But, I’ll have to wait until 18:00hrs to see if it comes on. I’m not the luckiest of people, am I? I’ll report it in the morning. No shave or bath tonight then. Tsk!

Depression Mode Engaged! With good reason this time.

Called to see Doris, who returned the book her offshoot had read and enjoyed. I asked if her hot water was working and it was. She said the heater comes on at 18:00hrs, so I’ll wait until then to see if it come back on, but my hopes and run of bad luck, along with my EQ, say’s it will not.

I suppose I can get a shave using hot water from the kettle, (hopefully, I will not get the shakes and cut myself or pour boiling water on myself), and a wash of sorts.

Dispirited, everything seems to be going wrong for me at the current time, and I don’t like it! Humph!

Got the nosh served up, not that I feel like eating now – moroseness, self-pity, and lack of any good luck is doing me no good at all.

Got a shave of sorts. But, I am fed-up, disheartened, dejected, gloomy, melancholy and in the doldrums… oh, and demoralised! Enough is enough, surely some good luck is due to come my way? No, maybe not, then!

And today I told Caroline that I do not get depressed!

Peed-off, I got the plate of unwanted food and tried to eat some it. I ate around 40% of it and didn’t enjoy any of it at all.

I felt grumpy, irritable, churlish, cantankerous, and crotchety. To make things worse, I had to use the kettle and saucepans to get hot water to wash the greasy plate, etc. The same for a shave, going twixt wet room and kitchen!

Sorry if I do sound ratty… but I am!

I decided to get a shower do the teggies and have a shave. I soon found out that the legs were getting back to their old bloated misshaped and spotty condition, with the anaemic, paleness, with different leg thicknesses that they were before the Stroke!

I thought I was a little depressed earlier, with all that is going wrong again. Now things are getting enough to try the patience of a saint!

While shaving, I kicked some bottles at the base of the sink, that I’m blown if I can remember them being there before – anyway the result was half an hour or so trying to stop the bleeding where I caught the razor on my head as fell over.

I finished the shaving and did the teggies, then got under the shower. Had a good scrub up. Afterwards, the head was still bleeding again!

I must try not to back-head a sink again, and try to gain control over the arm with the razor attached in future! Hahaha!

I wonder if I can sue anyone for this calamity of the ht water failing again? No, better not. Knowing my luck if the case went to court I’d probably get on the wrong bus and be defaulted. Silly Alter Cocker!

When I looked at these pictures, I realised just how pale I am looking. I might get some rougue foundation cream? Hehehe! Oh, I’ve just noticed, the hairs have gone from my shoulders and chest? Huh!

This Lucky Nottinghamian tried to get some sleep. But the hassle and failures of the day were bouncing about in the brain. So I got up and updated this load of tosh.

Still no hot water, although the light had come on at the emersion heater?

Fed-up!

Inchcock Today – Tuesday 7th May 2019: What a Whoopsiedangleplop Day, Oy Vey!

Tuesday 7th May 2019

Welsh: Dydd Mawrth 7 Mai 2019

03:40hrs: Good sleep for once. Woke and escaped the clutches of the highly appreciated £300 second-hand cir1968 rickety recliner with relative ease. Walked to the wet room to utilise the Porcelain Throne without using the stick,  a mistake I found out later. Tsk!

The wee-weeing was much user-friendlier this time, with a bit like the old SWWW (Short-weak-wee-wee) returning at last. The evacuation was far less messy as well. At this stage, I realised I must not get too confident, all the same. I nearly went over as the damned Axonotmesis affected ankle went on its side, and I am afraid to say, I uttered a couple of expletives I’ve not used for a while. Self Stupidity Recognition Mode Engaged! Only myself to blame for not using the stick, especially as the Ankle-Support was not on yet either! Oy Vey! Then I needed another wee-wee… Oh dearie me!

I think that I had had a dream last night as well, the first one I can recall since the Stroke – is that a good thing? It was vague, mind, I can’t remember any detail of it, just the sensation of having one.

I took the medications, and then made a brew of tea. With the smell lingering of the cheesy potatoes from last night. Hehe!

The legs were still stiff and the knees playing-up. However, I got the socks on without using the sock-glide, but it was too painful to try that again for a while. I might be expecting too much, too soon?

I got updating yesterdays blog and got it sent off to WordPress.Made another brew of tea, then went on the WordPress Reader. Next, I made a start on this post, while awaiting the arrival of a Carer to fit the Ankle-Support for me.

The tea went cold again, so I got the stick and hobbled carefully to make another brew.

I then opened the unwanted new light and view-blocking new windows to take a shot of the view. It felt a bit nippy, but a fantastic slightly misty view to peruse, all the same.

Checked the Emails and replied to them. Jenny sent a nice one to me. I hope she will be back soon amongst us, and our little gossips can continue again.

The Carer should be here soon, and I can get mobile then after the Ankle-Support is fitted.  He arrived on time ten-minutes later. It was the same chap as Saturday and remembered the way to install the support. He was soon all done, I thanked him, and he departed.

Continued on blogging.

Got things ready, including the walker, for a bus ride to the City Centre, via a visit to the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Flats, Oberstgruppenführer Wardens Temporary HQ, Toilet, Sarcasm & Insult distribution area, Rumourmongering Clinic. Tenants Socialisation Shed. Telling Inchcock off Zone. Things like China and other pottery to be stolen from, and residents shed.

All ready and set off out, taking two waste bags to the chute of the way out. Called at Doris’s, but no answer.

Once on Chestnut Way, I thought I’d photograph the road and buildings. Ahem, No camera!

Back up to the flat and collected the camera, and down again. Took two shots left to right as I faced the flats.

A lovely day, and not too much traffic about yet. Got to the hut and a chinwag or two for twenty-minutes as we waited for the bus. Out to the bus stop.

As I approached to get on the bus, I realised I did not have the bus pass with me! Dunderhead Class 1, Grade A!

Back up to the flat and picked up the pass. Then down to the hut again, taking a crossword book to do while waiting for the next bus, and a couple of completed books to hand in at a Charity Shop.

When the bus arrived, I got on the wrong one!

A Self-Recrimination Mode was adopted. At least Margaret and Hubby found it funny as we nattered on our way to the City Centre. We joked about things, and Margaret suggested I go to the Alladin’s Cave, in Victoria Centre market, to see if they had any horns I cod fit to my three-wheeled trolley and some L- plates. Hahaha!

The left handle worked lose when we moved over a bump. For some reason, this annoyed me muchly. Marge said to ask Eric (Cyndy’s other half), to take a look at the trolley bars.

Not one of my better days, especially following a great day yesterday. Grumph!

We dropped off in town, Margaret and Tom went into Wilko’s, and I made my way to the Victoria Centre Market. Up in a lift and to the Alladin’s Cave stall.

But they did not stock any air-horns or learner-plates. So, down in the elevator and hobbled to the other end and the Tesco store.

They had no pork-knuckle or milk loaves. Now I engaged a Proper-Fed-Up Mode!

Walked to the other end of the shopping centre and out and across the road to the Poundland shop. I got some nibble treats for raffle prizes at the Social Hour this Thursday.

I dropped the books in the Age Concern Charity stop on Lincoln Street.

Then onto Clinton Street. Where I took this picture of the organ-box player and the cheerful passing Nottinghamians.

With cock-ups causing a late start and the trolley giving me grief, I decided to walk to the Slab Square, then up to the L9 bus stop on Queen Street to catch the bus home.

On Long Row, where Sheila said another stabbing had taken place over the holidays, a poster advertising the Magnificent Spiegeltent one day Circus was spotted, with the erection of the scene can be seen behind.

Further along, at the corner of Queen/King Street, another sad sight of a closed down retail shop!

I took a firm grip on the wobbly trolley-walker and made my way up to the L9 bus stop. Where I met a lady who uses the bus regularly and we had a laugh and chinwagging session as we awaited the late arrival of the bus.

Queen Street looked a bit of a mess, and the unhappy Nottinghamians and Pavement Cyclist did not help.

I took a close look at the advert on the waste bin. It promoted the 2019 Big Nottingham Spring Clean! Then noticed the bus shelter I was in, in need of some attention. Hehe!

Margaret and Hubby, along with Mary got on the bus at the next stop, and the five of us had a good laugh and chinwag en-route to the flats.

When we got off of the bus, Sheila and I had a chat with Nottingham City Home Unterofficer Patch Manager and Ballerina.

I got to the flat and had a much needed, SWWW.

Put the bits I’d bought away, and started to update this blog, and the phone rang. It was the Anticoagulant Nurse, she will be calling at 08:00hrs in the morning (Wednesday), to take a blood sample. Which is good, cause I have the Physio nurse calling at 09:30hrs, and an Axonotmesis nurse calling sometime as well. So that’s worked out for once!

Later, the phone tone burst forth again: “I’m at the back of yer house!” – “Who are you? – “Just eat KFC” – “I live in a flat!” – “F@~} me!” End of call! Hehehe!

Doris dropped off the book I’d loaned her. I got some small spuds in the saucepan.

Then got caught up on Facebooking and the TFZers.

Got the medications taken and nosh served up.

Back to the lack of appetite-syndrome after yesterdays gobbling-up of all that meal. Left a lot of it, but I ate all of the Sicilian tomatoes and pork pie. The tasteless Spanish tom’s, the bread and the dessert were discarded.

Had a check on and talk with Doris.

Watched a TV programme, then had a shave and shower, into the night-attire.

A lousy day overall, too many brain freezes and Whoopsiedangleplops, far too many for my liking.

Humph!

Inchcock Today – Bank Holiday Monday 6th May 2019

Bank Holiday Monday 6th May 2019

Norwegian: Bankferie Mandag 6. Mai 2019

04:12hrs. Woke from a deep sleep, so glad that I had had sower and shaved last night. Escaped the welcoming warmth of the second-hand £300, circa 1968 rickety recliner, and limpingly to make a brew. (No Angle Support, it is still, hanging drying above the kitchen sink.

I was making the tea and had to divert to attend the Porcelain Throne. A right messy do it was, I seem to have gone from struggling to things being unstoppable overnight?

Tablets were taken, and had a wash, changed into day clobber and got on with updating this blog, while I waited for the Ocado delivery and the Carer to arrive.

I stopped a while, to work out the new set of medications and confirm to myself what they are being taken for. Google searching: Lansaprozole 15mg: Duodenal Ulcer – Senna 10mg: Help with passing – Paracetamol: Pain relief – Codeine 30mg: Pain relief for Axonotmesis – Chlorphenamine 8mg: Food allergy? – Bisoprolol 10mg: Beta blocker, heart – Ramipril 10mg: High Blood Pressure – Atorvastatin 80mg: Cholesterol – Novicol sachets: Chronic Constipation – Warfarin 3mg: Blood thinner… I’ve just realised this is a list of medications I was on during the stay at the Oaks Residential Home, not a proper up to date one. Well, that was a waste of time – Hahaha!

Ocado van arrived. Got the stuff stored away, but could find no Valencia Orange lollies as charged for when I checked on the Ocado site.

Sent an Email informing them. We’ll see what happens. Most annoying! I ordered a Sourdough batch, I hope to use three slices and hand the rest to Doris if I can catch her in later on in the day.

Then the Carer arrived, I greeted him with a cheery unanswered good morning. Absolutely no idea of how to put the ankle-support on. So I enlarged a photograph on the CorelDraw screen for him to access. Quiet chap, not talkative or interested in the job really. Sadly, he said he might be calling again tomorrow.

No buses were running today to or from the flats. So another day indoors. Although I might go down to try and get some laundry done, I’ll need a couple of goes to get the mass of washing needing to be done. So I might do it over a few days. In fact. I’ll nip down now and see if there is a free machine.

Back in a bit, folks.

Machine free, so I started the asher and back up in the lift.

I noticed that the Social Shed will be open today at 11:00hrs might call if I can get the washing done in time.

Took some bags to the waste chute. Got more washing ready to take down with me later. Got the laundry bag and down again. Moved things from washer to the dryer and then put the second load in the machine. I met Angela and Roy and had a natter while they waited for a taxi. Roy is not very good, tried to cheer him up, he’s still got his sense of humour though, bless him.

Up again and updated this diary. Back down to the laundry room again. Got the things out of the dryer and the second wash going. Folded the first load and stayed down while the dryer did its thing. Penny came in with some washing and, we had a short natter. Then Olive came in, and I got the stuff out of the dryer so she could use it. We chinwagged all the way back in the elevator together.

Got the togs out away and took a picture from the unwanted light and view-blocking new kitchen window. The morning was breezy but beautiful to look at.

As I put in the SD card, it broke on the teeth bit. I lost 345 photographs! Grumph!

I got another card and retook the picture. Tsk!

Suddenly realised I could now go to the meeting room at the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Flats, Oberstgruppenführer Wardens Temporary HQ, Toilet, Sarcasm & Insult distribution area, Rumourmongering Clinic. Tenants Socialisation Shed. Telling Inchcock off Zone. Things like china and pottery to be stolen from, and residents room. I might find a vegetable bargain. Hehe! And take some updated photographs of the complex.

TTFN, back in a while all. (I hope).

A bit of a farce my getting out. I was going to call to see Jenny/Frank on the way out. I met Olive getting in the lift, and for some reason, the number of Jenny’s flat escaped me. Olive thought it was 52 on the ninth floor, but there was no answer to my ring. So I went down again and told Olive in the laundry room, I’d take some photos of the complex.

I went out and realised I did not have my camera with me! Back up again and got the camera and called at Jenny’s again. Frank appeared as I was getting back in the lift. Gave him the Sourdough bread, cause I know that Jenny likes it.

Down in the lift again and met Angela and Roy who were going to the hut as well. We had a good natter as we walked there, arriving too early so they sat on the bus stop bench and others joined us. As I circled them, I spotted a strange looking flower and snapped it.

At first, I thought there was a bee of some kind on it.

We soon got in the shed, and more residents joined us. Doreen, John, Bill, Ian and more were quickly nattering away.

There was nothing that appealed to me for sale foodwise, but I enjoyed the next hour or so, listening to them all gossiping.

I came out at the same time as Angela and Roy, and after taking a couple of pictures of the compound, we start to walk to our block.

The sky looked incredible, albeit was windy with it. Sufficient for me to take another picture.

The leg shook a couple of times, and I nearly went over en route. Angie told me to take the walker with me next time, I said I would. And Roy told me I was walking with the stick wrongly, and he told me how it should be done, and put my bag on his trolley for me.

I left them as I alighted on the 12th floor. To the flat and checked on the potato in the oven.

Then, I began to update this blog, and Doris came in to see how I was. She kindly accepted some fancy tomatoes from me that I had overordered. Bless her for caring. We had a chat, and she returned back to her flat.

Carried on with the post, then emptied out the potato from the husks and added salt and distilled vinegar and mashed them up together well. Refilled the skins and forked the top and put them back in the oven to brown-off!

One half I will give to Doris, I hope she likes them. I called on Doris and asked her to tell me if she likes her spuds with burnt and crispy tops, she liked them like I do, burnt & crispy, and proceeded to cook them in the oven with the added cheese, distilled vinegar and a little salt to the potato.

I got her half of the potato, added some crispy roast onions and put them on a tray and delivered them to her door.

I hope she like them, this is the first time I have made cheesy-potatoes for anyone.

Served up mine (Photo), and ate the whole lot of it, including some slices of milk loaf. Boy, did I enjoy them – with added Marmite crisps as well! The appetite had returned. But I think this is due to Doris more than the food.

Doris returned the tray, I think she relished them, I do hope so. I felt so proud that I could do something to show my appreciation for her help and concern.

I washed up and had a shower and shave, got the sock-glide and bamboo socks ready for the morning.

Settled to watch some TV, staying awake for too long again. Eventually drifting off into a beautiful sleep. Contentedly!

Inchcock Today – Saturday 4th May 2019 – A risky, much regretted hobble out without the walking aid. Tsk!

Saturday 4th May 2019

Scots Gaelic: Disathairne 4 Cèitean 2019

03:30hrs. Woke feeling so cold for some reason. Then realised that using the three-wheeled trolley meant I had to move the towel heater in the hallway so I can make room for using the walking-aid-trolley. Phwert! Ah, well!

I got the foot saddle ready for the carer when he or she comes later. Then got a shower and shave, did the teggies.

Rang Sister Jane. She had a good time last night, but can I please not ring her so early! I felt such a fool!

The carer arrived early, different chap this time. The good news is I had mastered the sock-glide this morning. He only had to put the Ankle Protection strap on for me.

Did some blog catching up from the notepad until it was time for me to take the medications. Nice not to forget for once. With month or so of people giving me the meds, it is so easy for me to forget to take them. Grumph!

Got ready, then off to the bus stop with the trolley-walker of course. Called in the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights Flats, and Administration shed for the Generalleutnant Sarcasm & Insult distribution area, Tenants Socialisation Shed. Rumourmongering Clinic. Telling Inchcock off Zone, Things like crockery and pottery to be stolen from, and residents room. Some bits were left over from the cheap out-of-date food selection. Some leeks, that looked all wet and runny. But seeing them made me decide to get some leeks when I was out in Arnold shopping at Asda in Arnold.

However, my getting on the wrong bus forced a change of mind. Nebekh! I decided to go to the old fashioned but not cheap greengrocers on Mapperley Tops, Woodborough Road. So I dropped off the bus and had another battle with the three-wheeled walking aid as I nearly fell getting off the flipping bus again!

I made my way to the shop. It’s excellent shopping there, cause you can buy one leek, one onion, one carrot, one mushroom, and one potato, which I did, along with some large eggs for brekkers in the morning. Mind you; they keep the scales out of view?

Walked over to Sainsbury’s store, resisting buying any meat from the butchers. Swank Mode Adopted! The plan was to have the vegetables done in the slow-cooker and add a tin of beef, later on, a stew of sorts, but we’ll see. Got some tomatoes and bread thins

On the walk home, had to walk downhill to get to the Woodthorpe Grange gates to cut through to the flats.

I took this photo of the clouds, making sure I got the leek sticking out of the trolley walking aid, just for fun.

By the time I got to the gates, I’d had some harassment of sorts.

Farther down Woodthorpe Drive, two Nottinghamian Pavement Cyclist shot by very close me from behind, and the bigger of the two gits, actually spat in front of me, and the spittle hit me! Swine!

This made me so angry!

I recovered my composure, not suitable for my getting excited in my condition, is it?

A bit further down and the trolley again proved it does not like going downhill at all!

I took this shot of the traffic slowing down for the speed-check monitor.

I cut through car park into the Grange and around the footpath on my way to the flats. It was too heavy going shoving the trolley over the semi-wet from last nights grass.

As I stopped for a breather, a man and woman with a little white, long-haired dog came and asked me if I was alright as I didn’t look so good and a bit pale skinned. I thanked them and said I was only taking a breather.

Further along, I met them again, and we had a natter. You can see in these photographs I took of their friendly dog, how windy it was, despite the sunshine.

I took some more photographs as I struggled down the gravel hill to the complex. There is no doubt about it; this trolley will have me over before long.

Somehow I got down and into the apartment without injury, but it was a close thing a few times.

I got in and started the stew going from the purchases in the slow-cooker.

Then spent too much time doing the blog updates, and got caught up at last, and posted them off, did some Facebooking.

Got the fodder finished and served up.

I ate it all up without any bread.

Felt a bit bilious, and it was very unsettling laying there in the same place and position in which I had the stroke.

All of which was too much for me. I ended up in panic mode when eventually settled, very late.

Inchcock Today – Saturday 20th to Sunday 21st April: The Oaks Residential Care Home

The Oaks Residential Care Home

Saturday 20th to Sunday 21st April 2019

Malay: Sabtu 20 Hingga Ahad 21hb April 2019

Saturday 03:00hrs.Rose and got the shower and shaving done, readied the washed earlier foot controller-pad ready for help with being put on. Wrote pas for staff to get some disposable razors and a newspaper for me sometime and asked carer if this would be possible. The answer was now, not today. The radiators in the hallway outside the door started rattling, clanging and banging away.

Pete called, I called him back. Asked if he could bring some aftershave for me on his next visit (Still waiting) with him. He said yes.

12:50hrs, egg sarnies and a cake for the meal. Settled to watch some Carry On Films, beginning with Carry-On Don’t Lose Your Head The radiators began clattering and banging again. Some engineers in attendance to try and mend the problem. Which continued.

Got the dizzies. Had a veg-curry and rice for my nosh. No dessert. Feeling bilious, but it cleared later. No sleep due to the now louder than ever radiators clanging away.  They calmed down then, but they were still giving some noise out.  Casino Royale watched on the box, medications given.

The radiators changed to sound like a slow turnover diesel engine.

Then watched the Men in Black, film as some cars were racing each other outside.

Sunday 21st 03:00hrs. The radiators in the hallway outside the door started rattling and banging away, waking up several tenants. I got up and had a shower and shave. Got the foot controller-pad ready for help with being put on.

At 04:00hrs the radiators changed to a tune like a battering ram.

Shave and shower Still awaiting the aftershave. Thus more nicks and cuts acquired. Jan and Pete called. No aftershave yet, still waiting. Radiators changed tune to like a throb-bang-shudder routine. Karen bought my medications. Nosh was a hot dog with onions (Tasty!)

The ankle-pad was applied by the delicious carer.

Radiators altered to a noise like chug-chug-bang routine.

Arguments and bad language at nosh-time.

Then changed to a sort of Dub dun-dun rattle, with the odd bang thrown in. Later, changing to a persitent Ratatat, thud bang. But very loud now!

Inchcock Today – Friday 3rd May 2019: First time out on my own!

Friday 3rd May 2019

Welsh: Dydd Gwener 3ydd Mai 2019

0330hrs: Got up, and straight on to doing some diary updating. I want to get them all done before posting them so I can get them all on at the same time, and thank the TFZers, residents, mates and cyber friends for all the kind things and pressies, get well messages, visits etc. even if I am still a little confused. But I mustn’t spend too long on the web, as writing is a bit arduous for me yet. So many shakes and nudges. So, cheers to everyone, God Bless you all! ♥

Did a few from the notepads I had with me in hospital, then got the ankle-support device ready for when the morning Carer arrives. Got a shower and shave, a pleasure with some aftershave handy for any cuts. Hehe!

The sock glide is not easy to use, it took me 45 minutes to get one sock on! The carer said he would have a look at it for me in the morning. He fitted the Ankle Brace, filled in the log and departed. He arrived in the forty-five minutes either way if the appointment time, just! Hehe!

I updated a few more diaries from the hospital stay. I wanted to see how I went going out on the bus on my own, using the three-wheeled trolley of course. I set out to go to the Acorn, no… Oaks Residential Home where I’d been for a couple of weeks after the Stroke Ward threw me out, due to bed shortages. Haha! The intent being to had over some nibbles as thanks to the staff who looked after me during my stay.

I wanted to put my phone on charge for a bit, but could not find the charger. Ah, but I am confident I’ll find it later.

I felt a tad nervous, but took my time, nice and steady. The Axonotmesis nerve problem is making the stroke effects worse, but the legs were not so bad this morning, shaking-wise, and the strap-support helps a lot.

I got the trolley with just the nibbles in it and set off out.

Had a great chinwag at the bus stop. Christine, Cyndy, Margaret, Mary, Doreen and others all missed me. This brought forth some witty comments from some of them: Like, “I thought you were dead!”, “Where you been?”, “Who said you could sod-off?” and “Oh, yer back then?” amongst others. Hahaha! So happy to be back!

I caught the City Bound bus and had a natter en route. I dropped off at the bottom of Carlton Road and walked with my trolley thing to and up Bath Street to the Oaks Home, very carefully and slowly.

Overcautiously maybe, but the getting off of the bus presented me with a shock – that damned trolley does like going downhill at all. Tsk! Nearly twisted my knee and clouted my chin getting off. Ah, well!

I was let in, and the manager accepted the nibbles. Then asked me if I had left a mobile charger in my room. Ahem, I had!

I thanked them and walked into town and get some food from the pound shop, but forgot to get some bread. When I came out of the store, the rain was belting down!

I got some chips for tonight’s nibble meal that Sister Jane had left me to eat, bless her.

Got the L9 bus home. Had a natter with some residents on the way home. Then again nearly toppled over when I tried to get the trolley off of the bus! Going to take some getting used to, this trolley is!

Got in, and did a bit more away-time diary catching up on.

Then did the ablutions and got the marvellous ankle-strap-support taken off.

Got the nosh sorted. Sarnies chips and Jane’s pork pie with its load of gelatine in it… Smashing! A pot of satsumas in juice, to follow.

Amazing coloured sky and view tonight.

Took a photo of it, but it didn’t come out so well.

All in all, taking everything into consideration, I wasn’t feeling too bad at all!

Phoned Sister Jane see how she was and thank her again for the help.

I was still a tad nervous when the shakes came on overnight, but no problems.

Hey-ho, things are improving at last. I might regret saying that! Hehe!

Cheers folks, love and best wishes. ♥

Inchcock Today: Thursday 2nd May – Return Home Day

Thursday 2nd May 2019 – Return Home Day

Croatian: Četvrtak, 2. Svibnja 2019. – Dan Povratka kući

02:20hrs, rose and got the foot support ready for the carer to fit later. Shower and shave and got dressed as far as possible, and completed the packing of the things to take home.

Carer came with medications, medicines to take home and put my ankle support on for me. She was sad to see me go – at least that was what she said. Hehe!

But inwardly, I felt a bit of a wreck. Shaking with nerves at the thought of going home and having to make decisions after five weeks of being told when to go to the toilet, wake-up, eat, washing being done etc. And despite my wanting to get home to my flat and all of Jane and Pete’s efforts and help, I find myself feeling niggly. Most of the carers at the Oaks have been pleasant to me as well. I plan to go back with a load of nibbles in thanks for them on Saturday, all being well. It will only entail a little walking with the frame to the bus stop, hobble to the care home and a bus to town then one home, and I’m hoping things go alright.

A cup of tea and some toast in the end room.

Gordon appeared at the doorway later, looking a bit pale, said he fell over last night and no one had woke him for brekkers this morning. I thought he was downstairs having a meal. I alerted a member of staff and they attended him.

No lousy writing, just nothing on my notepad at all. Cause I was fretting about going home, I suppose.

Jane and Pete arrived just as I was giving a box of chocolates to the receptionist for the staff, thank you.

A quick farewell, and out to Pete’s jam-jar and back to my beloved flat at Woodthorpe Court.

I thought I’d do a bit of cleaning up to show my willingness. Jane said she had never seen me cleaning up before. Tsk!

Jane and Pete helped me with sorting out a bit more.

Someone arrived from the Social Services, I think. Luckily Sister Jan was here and sorted things with him. Facts and figures were not going into my brain. Jane took all the details that I could not absorb in the least. The medicines needed sorting old and new in the prescription drawers.

Pete took a photo on his new mobile of Jane and I sorting the medicines out. Although I didn’t realise it until Saturday when I spoke with her, she took a bag of the old medicines to the Chemist to see if they would take them off our hands for us and destroy them. The man said we should get some Yellow boxes for the out of date hyperdermic Amoxparin filled needles. I think I spoke, or Jane spoke with Dr Vindla about them.

I was happy to be home, but so scared and in a non-accepting frame of mind for anything going on. The leaving the controlled atmosphere I have been in so long and suddenly everything happening that needed decisions, left my brain without the foggiest idea about what was going on? But I did know and kept quiet about the Axonotmesis giving me some shakes in the legs and right arm.

I think a woman from Social Services came later, but I could be wrong. I reckon the bloke rang the chemist about getting my prescriptions delivered, I’ll check with Jane later. Confused and so grateful that Jan and Pete were here to help me through a distressing and unsettling few hours.

I asked Pete for the keys, money, cash card, bus pass he had safely stored for me while  I was away. He retained the keys so he could get in after going down to his car for something. Probably another CCTV camera to install, Hahaha! I do remember telling him not to forget to return them, though.

When they had made sure, or the best they could that I was all okay, with the medicines in a bag,  went down with them to their car to thank them and see them off. While down on the car park, I decided to do my voting for the Euro election at the  Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights, Hauptbereitschaftsleiteress Warden’s Temporary HQ. The walk there was okay, but I foolishly did not take the perambulator trolley or walking stick with me. Fool!

Did the voting and on the way back to the flat, well, I was in a right state. A chap from my block helped me get back to the flat. A bit vague about things, I hope I recognise him later so I can thank him properly. I’ll not that mistake again, either the walking stick or trolley will go with me in future!

When I got back, I realised that Pete had forgotten to hand back the flat keys! I rang Jane, and Pete had to return with the keys. I am a nuisance!

I think Sonia called, there is an appointment on my diary now, for Physio 09:30hrs on Wednesday 8th May? I hope the INR blood test is not going to fall on the same day!

I met them in the car park to gather the keys. Humph!

Got back in the flat and locked the doors, and took three photographs of the view as I prepared my first home-made meal for about five weeks. Haha!

The nosh was not really mine, but what Jane had bought for me. A meat cob, apple, orange and a banana.

I added some out of date sausages, potato balls and Marmite cheese! Enjoyed it all the more than I anticipated. Especially as she had put some bread and a small pork pie in the fridge for me tomorrow! Bless her cotton socks! ♥

Bit of a Whoopsiedangleplop when I got the shakes and spilt hot water on my hand. Well, fancy that! Hahaha!

I took some sky shots over the next hours.

I still had a few blank moments, but I felt a lot better than earlier on. Thanks again, Jane and Pete! ♥

I did get a little nervous settling in the £300 second-hand, ci 1968, stroke-invoking rickety recliner for the first time in ages, to get to sleep. But all went well and I woke up on Saturday morning feeling a bit brighter. Phew, Hehe!

Inchcock Today – Wednesday 1st May 2019. The Oaks Residential Care Home

Wednesday 1st May 2019.

Croatian: Srijeda, 1. Svibnja 2019.

The Oaks Residential Care Home

03:30hrs. Up and washed, shaved. Got two slices of toast today!

Incidentally, the aftershave to stop the bleeding when cutting with shaking hands never did arrive. Hehehe!

Really het-up and nervous today. The specialist fro the Stroke unit arrived on an early visit. Basically telling me not to rush things and expect it to be a long time before things get back to normal if they do that is, but be prepared for them not to. We went through and amended the exercise routine. Because of my worrying, I did not do very well with the demonstration of my abilities in movement or speech. Hey-ho!

Seems I had an Ataxia Stroke, Sonia told me. The name for clumsy, uncoordinated movements. It is associated with strokes that happen in the back of the brain (cerebellum or posterior circulation). People with ataxia have difficulty producing movements quickly enough, and in the right order, to avoid losing their balance or to recover from a trip or slip. (I looked this up later). I’ll look up the Vascular Dementia bit later.

Feeling concerned with coping, and inept, stuttery, incapable, impotent, unfit-for-purpose. Still, nothing new there, though. Haha!

Physio lady also called. Not too happy with my movements today.

Packed some more bags up ready to take home when Pete and Jane pick me up.

Went down for nosh, but no one fed me today, being as I didn’t feel like any food I just left and returned to mope in room eleven for a bit. Humph! Good job I got the extra toast beforehand. Carer gave me three digestive biscuits later.

Medications were taken.

Matthew in the opposite room asked if he could use the remote control in my room for his TV. I went to have a look, but his TV was all unplugged. Got it started, but a message saying it needed initial setting up done, and my remote did not work in his set anyway. We had a search around but could not find any remote controls anywhere.

A lot more unreadable scribble I had to abandon all hopes of decyphering on the notepad.

Ah-well! Settled down to fretting in depth.

Inchcock Today: Monday Tue 29th – 30th April 2019: The Oaks Residential Care Home

Monday Tue 29th – 30th April 219

Dutch: Maandag Dinsdag 29 – 30 April 219

The Oaks Residential Care Home

Monday 29th April. 02:15hrs. Shave, shower and dressed and awaiting the Foot Strap to be fitted.

Failure again on the Porcelain Throne. 05:50hrs, carer brought me a mug of tea, bless her, she put the support strap on as well.

Did the physio and voice exercises. Another failed at both ends WC visit. The fingers were shaking a lot more today.

Had a shower and shave.

I think it is possible that Brother-in-law Pete will not remember to bring any aftershave from the flat for me now. Humph!

I lay in the blood planning my revenge! Not really, only joking. Hehehe!

08:00hrs. A third attempt on the Throne – at last some movement, even it was painful. Haha!

The right knee and arm had the shakes bad this morning.

Medications bought and taken. Toast and tea in the end room. A man called to do a bed check? Maintenance men back working on the radiators. Summoned down to nosh. A hot dog and onions. Not much, but it was grand tasting. But we did get an extra slice of toast later up in the room.

13:00hrs, back to cell eleven. Haha!

17:16hrs: Sister Jane rang. She had been trying to contact Deana and the Welsh lady from the Social Services without any luck, things are getting complicated for her now, and she will be going in for her own operation on her toes soon. Thought I’d add a photo of her accompanying me from the QMC a while ago: always there when needed our Jane. Makes me feel so guilty.

I had the stroke, and she and Pete copped for the hassle of sorting things out for me again!

I’m doing a lot of talking my thoughts out loud today. Not-half getting some funny looks, which is good, cause it makes me stop doing the waffling. But it starts again!

Tablets were taken, and nosh consumed.

Did some exercises and fell asleep so early again.

Tuesday 30th April 2019: 0300hrs, woke and got a shave and shower, readied the foot strap support and watched some TV.

Feeling so very weary and irritable with everything this morning. Maybe the upcoming move home is bothering me, I suppose.

Carer came with medications and did the foot strap for me. Told me that I will be leaving on Thursday to go home, and Jane and Pete will collect me around 11:00hrs.

Suddenly, after about five weeks of being told when to go to the toilet, eat, wake-up, go to bed and all cooking and washing done as well being done for me, I face the regaining of making decisions, and I do not feel ready, nervous really.

Medications brought to me, then IRN Warfarin blood test done.

Fish cakes peas and carrots for dinner with mash. Ice cream to follow, tasty!

Egg sarnie and cake for tea. (Much unreadable stuff here, sorry).

Got what I could all packed up early.

Still feeling weary and apprehensive.

Oh, dearie me!

Inchcock Today. Saturday 27th/Sun 28th April 2019 The Oaks Residential Care Home

Saturday 27th/Sun 28th April 2019

Croatian: Subota, 27. Srpnja, 28. Travnja 2019

The Oaks Residential Care Home

Saturday 27th: 0245hrs: Woke up, missing the welcoming sound from the now repaired hallway radiators. Hehe!

Thought about Jane’s Peter, and my failed attempts to beg for some aftershave to be sent into the prison for me, as I scarred and cut myself a little more shaving.

Got the foot support from where it was drying overnight hanging from a window handle, and got it ready for fitting later by one of the carers.

Watched some Police programmes on the telly, until the carer told me to go to the Rest Room for brekkers, after she arrived to strap me up, so as to speak. Hehe! Stuart, Eddie and I in there nibbling and having the most farcical of a three-way chinwag – what with us all not talking correctly and none of us wearing our hearing aids! Hahaha!

Back in the room, and two ambulances arrived, eventually taking away two residents a few hours later. Oh dear! Medications were issued to me. Ambulances still on site. One blood-wagon departed with a patient on board. Found and read a Nottingham Forest book of the Cloughies 1972 season. Very interesting it was too!

The Commando Squad leader ordered us down for nosh. Vegetable curry with rice, the ice cream that followed was welcome. Huh-he-he!

Back up to Cell 11, and settled watching TV, some good stuff on tonight! The ESP (or EPL) football was on the Quorn channel.

Medications brought to me, needed some front and rear end encouragement medication tonight – things no moving much. Haha!

Carer washed the Ankle support for me and put it to dry on the window handle, then took my washing to be laundered.

Sun 28th April 2019: Woke and got the showering, shaving and dressing all bar the socks, done. Went to make a brew in the kitchen in the restroom, but the kettle had been locked up. Ah, well, I had water instead.

Did some training exercises. 02:20hrs to 07:30hrs watched TV, then the carer came with some toast for me, and put the Foot Support strap on for me. Ate the toast in the end restroom.

A carer, bless her fetched a Newspaper (Sun on Sunday) for me. Not much effort taken in reading it, I made sure she was handed the paper when I finished with it.

Socks not back from the laundry, carer found them for me and returned them, I fank you! ♥

Writing on the pad was even worse now. Best I can decipher is: Sh??ct back from laund. Police and Ambulance on site. What followed was gobb

le-di-gook? Sorry.

Janet rang, bad line again. Had an inside walkabout, then did the Speech therapy and occupational exercises. Felt worn out afterward. Tsk! Nurse came to do an INR Warfari blood test. Carer came with the medications. Including the front and nack-end encouragement medicines. Haha!

Police and ambulance had left the site. Nosh was a bit rushed, staff must be busy, they kept asking if we had finished every time I put down the knife and fork to blow my nose.

Fell asleep earlier tonight.
