The Oaks Residential Care Home
Monday 29th April. 02:15hrs. Shave, shower and dressed and awaiting the Foot Strap to be fitted.
Failure again on the Porcelain Throne. 05:50hrs, carer brought me a mug of tea, bless her, she put the support strap on as well.
Did the physio and voice exercises. Another failed at both ends WC visit. The fingers were shaking a lot more today.
Had a shower and shave.
I think it is possible that Brother-in-law Pete will not remember to bring any aftershave from the flat for me now. Humph!
I lay in the blood planning my revenge! Not really, only joking. Hehehe!
08:00hrs. A third attempt on the Throne – at last some movement, even it was painful. Haha!
The right knee and arm had the shakes bad this morning.
Medications bought and taken. Toast and tea in the end room. A man called to do a bed check? Maintenance men back working on the radiators. Summoned down to nosh. A hot dog and onions. Not much, but it was grand tasting. But we did get an extra slice of toast later up in the room.
13:00hrs, back to cell eleven. Haha!
17:16hrs: Sister Jane rang. She had been trying to contact Deana and the Welsh lady from the Social Services without any luck, things are getting complicated for her now, and she will be going in for her own operation on her toes soon. Thought I’d add a photo of her accompanying me from the QMC a while ago: always there when needed our Jane. Makes me feel so guilty.
I had the stroke, and she and Pete copped for the hassle of sorting things out for me again!
I’m doing a lot of talking my thoughts out loud today. Not-half getting some funny looks, which is good, cause it makes me stop doing the waffling. But it starts again!
Tablets were taken, and nosh consumed.
Did some exercises and fell asleep so early again.
Tuesday 30th April 2019: 0300hrs, woke and got a shave and shower, readied the foot strap support and watched some TV.
Feeling so very weary and irritable with everything this morning. Maybe the upcoming move home is bothering me, I suppose.
Carer came with medications and did the foot strap for me. Told me that I will be leaving on Thursday to go home, and Jane and Pete will collect me around 11:00hrs.
Suddenly, after about five weeks of being told when to go to the toilet, eat, wake-up, go to bed and all cooking and washing done as well being done for me, I face the regaining of making decisions, and I do not feel ready, nervous really.
Medications brought to me, then IRN Warfarin blood test done.
Fish cakes peas and carrots for dinner with mash. Ice cream to follow, tasty!
Egg sarnie and cake for tea. (Much unreadable stuff here, sorry).
Got what I could all packed up early.
Still feeling weary and apprehensive.
Oh, dearie me!
