02:45hrs. Woke up and escaped out of the second-hand, £300 c1968 rickety recliner to utilise the overnight-half-filled EGPWWB (Emergency Grey Plastic Wee-wee bucket). A PDTSAOWW (Painfull-Dribble-Trickle-Spray-all-over-Wee-wee) class one. I anticipate struggling to pass all day again, on and off, mostly on.
Memories of the nightmare-dreams flickered into and out-of-the brain-box. Positive recall for once I think, but they faded as fast as they came to me. Tsk! I felt they were of an unpalatable-nature, though, with some touches of fear involved somewhere.
I cleaned and disinfected the EGPWWB, and had a shower, shave, cleaned the teggies, got the bamboo-socks on, using the glide, and had a failed attempt on the Porcelain Throne. Come think of it; it should be the ‘Red Cross Supplied Raised Plastic Porcelain Throne with the Rusty Metal Supports that Wobble’ to be right, nowadays. But it’s too big a mouthful to use. Hehe!
Got dressed then I took the morning medications. Taking an added Senna to hopefully move things in the rear exit department; it’s been a day or two since any successful evacuation has taken place. And the last wee-wee encourager-tablet from the Care Home. Hey-Ho!
The legs and arms were beginning to give me some sudden bother from Colin Cramps and Arthur Itis. So I applied some Fenbid Pain Killer on bothering knees, shins, feet, and wrists. The feet and toes were stinging badly, too, but they need the Chiropodist’s visit badly.
Put the new socks on, using the sock-glide. They are shorter than the others. The legs seemed a little more blotchy and bloated than of late.
During this process, three more PDTSAOWWs (Painfull-Dribble-Trickle-Spray-all-over-Wee-wees) were passed. In total, maybe 5 messy-fluid ounces. Haha!
I updated the Notes for the nurse’s visit.
Another wee-wee, now in the form of an RPDDWW (Reluctant, Painful-Dri-Drip-Wee-Wee).
I started this post, and then finalised the Friday one and posted it off.
I felt the most welcome need for the Porcelain Throne! So, off to the wet room. Partial success, but at a high cost! It took me about twenty minutes to get things started, then half-way through, I did some of the crossword book puzzles, while I waited for some sort of completion. (Not agony, but it was painful) When things were over, surprisingly it was a messy affair with only a tiny… Well, ever mind!
The cleaning up afterwards took another twenty-minutes, oh what a state! The new socks felt very loose and thin, but they were comfy, and warm enough.
After another RPDDWW, I hobbled to the kitchen to make another brew of tea.
Espying the amazing looking orange/red quarter moon in the sky, I got the camera and took this shot of it. I had to make five efforts to get the picture something like it really was. This was due to the right-side shakes from Dizzy Dennis, and or the Axonotmesis.
06:55hrs. Awaiting the carer to put the Ankle-Protection Strap on for me.
0720hrs. Titivating on this blog, and made a mug of tea. 07:35hrs. A new carer arrived. He soon mastered the Ankle-Retention-Strapping. I’d got the socks on. So, no need for any help with anything else. I mentioned about the appointment with the Audio Clinic on Monday and cancelled the carer for that day. I’ll have to leave the Ankle thingy and socks on overnight? I dare not ask them to call, in case they arrive late, and I might miss the bus into town. I’ll do it now, I must sort out the bus timings and fare needed. All sorted, (I hope), Stop S48 (Winchester Street, Time Monday 13th May 2019: 07:225hrs, Fare £2.30!
Another wee-wee, now in the form of an RPDDWW. Better get things ready to go to Sherwood for some bits.
Took some black bags on the way out, deposited them in the rubbish chute. And down and out, called in the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights, Hauptbereitschaftsleiteress Warden’s Temporary HQ. Sarcasm & Insult distribution area. Tenants Socialisationistical Meeting Shed. Telling Inchcock off Zone. Where things like crockery and pottery get stolen from, Rumourmongering Clinic, and somewhere to rest while waiting for the bus, Portakabin. A few residents about, who were taking a peek at the cheapo-out-of-date-vegetables on sale. Some of the residents’ panel in there as well. No one was interested in chinwagging, apart from Mary. Lady asked me if I wanted a cup of coffee. I declined and thanked her. So I had a walk outside to get used to the three-wheeled-trolley-guide for ten minutes or so, up and down the road. When the bus arrived it was a Bestwood bound one, that and I and many others needed. And some nattering began, which I enjoy.
Dropped off in Sherwood and went into the Post Office shop. Got an egg sarnie for breakfast, a Polish sourdough slice loaf and a bottle of spring water. I dropped the bread putting it in the trolley, and a lady picked it up for me. Again a stranger asked me if I was alright, and told me I looked pale! Hehe! Bless her for the help.
I departed, out and across the road and into the Wilko shop. I came out with a bottle of liquid soap powder (which seems to clean the ankle-support, well), a can of deodorant, and a sink plug. The finding of the sink plug was interesting. After walking around and searching without any luck, I thought I’d try to find someone to ask their location. I bumped into a neighbour, Malcolm, and asked him if he knew where they were, and he guided me back to where I first looked, but they were electrical plugs. A good job I passed Malcolm again and ask him once more, for he found them for me. Tsk!
To the Co-op next. They had some nice looking Piccolo tomatoes that I bought, along with two potatoes, that will do for Doris’s nibble next Saturday. I’m so glad I can do something in return, and I think Doris will accept some baked-cheesy potatoes every Saturday, now. And I love doing them. (And eating them, Hehe!)
To the bus stop and a nattering session as about six of awaited the L9, back up to the flats.
During the walk back from the bus stop to Woodthorpe Court, sudden fatigue overcame me, and it took me what seemed like aeons to get home. Ah-well!
I called at Doris’s, to remind her about the upcoming potato-feast. Back to the front room
But hunger got the better of me, and I had a snack first thing… well, after another PDTSAOWW!
The weather brightened up, and I took a picture through the unwanted, light & view blocking, multi-glass needing cleaning that I cannot reach or get to do so, kitchen windows.
I then got the potatoes in the oven. And sat down and fell asleep in a short time.
Woke and checked the potatoes, they were done ready for being mixed. I halved them, but split the skin in one of them. Scooped out the potatoes into a big basin, added much mature cheddar, distilled vinegar, a bit of butter, and some salt. Replaced the well-bashed up mixture, back in the husks and got them in the oven on a high heat. Kept an eye on the now three instead of four baked spud-halves. But they were well filled! Made up a nosh for Doris, two halves of cheesy-potato, and some Piccolo tomatoes, halved and salted. Then the pleasure of taking the tray to Doris. I hope she likes them.
Back to the flat, sat down and fell asleep in true style! Deep sleep! Woke up around 1740 hours, when the door chime was ringing out. It was Doris returning the washed tray bless her, and saying she enjoyed them. That made my day!
Doris (although, I found out she is not Doris!) was with me in the kitchen, she had brought two big spuds for the next nosh, bless her! It then transpired that her name is Josie, or Josephine, Josephine or Jose. I did feel a fool! She kindly added that she responds to Doris, as well. Hahaha!
I took the evening medications.
Then I set about taking off the Ankle-Support, it was no bother at all, I’d got it off in about fifteen minutes or so. Got it washed, using the bowl and some liquid soap flakes and hung it up. For it to hopefully dry in time for the carer coming in the morning to fit it on for me.
I got the computer on and updated this blog as far as here. Made a brew. Went on WordPress reader.
Shattered again. Late now for me. I reheated my cheesy-potato and imbibed it with a drink of spring water, then took the medications late.
Got done and settled in the £300 second-hand, c1968 rusty recliner for sleep, but the head was spinning with my faults, mistakes and bad choices made, and it was ages before I could nod-off. Humph!
04:25hrs. Woke in dire need of the eighth wee-wee of the night! Possibly the cause of the tummy ache that had developed overnight. Months of minimal movement, now the EGPWWB, again! The PHBLWWs (Painfull-Hosepipe-Blasting like Wee-wees) have suddenly returned. Naturally, the EGPWWB (Emergency Grey Plastic Wee-wee bucket) has been re-utilised and restored to a location close to the £300, second-hand, c1968 recliner. I found a couple of new expletives to silently use as well. Hehe!
I wondered to the WC, taking the EGPWWB for sanitisation with me, for yet another wee-wee of the same style as earlier. I had a wash and put on the expensive long Diabetic socks using the Sock-Glide. I’m so glad there are no CCTV cameras in the wet room, or some shots may qualify for a comedy award, or at least go viral on Facebook! Haha!
Fifteen minutes after starting the socking-glide-routine, I’d got them on. A record that was! I had to sit down for a few moments to recover from the effort that I had used up. Sad! And the socks seemed to be getting much thinner after only using them twice before. Oh dear! Still, they are comfortable, even if they make the Bank Manager Unfriendly. Hehe!
Cleaned up and tidied the place, and off to the kitchen, got the kettle on, and had to utilise the EGPWWB, again! (A good job it was close to hand, too). Haha!
The hands seemed excessively shaky this morning, but the leg was not too bad, shuddering-wise. The first time they have been acting differently of their own accord. This might be a sign of things improving; What am I saying and thinking, things improving? For me? What a plonka!
Tried to sort out the medication box status, but got all confused, it looks like I am going to run out of some medications before the next prescriptions are due? A disoriented Inchcock gave up, having come across a mind-freeze subject, I think. I must ask for help on this. Hopefully Caroline or Shona might be able to sort things for me. My brain seemed incapable of grasping my medical stuff for some reason. Took the medications and was soon making my way to the EGPWWB, again! I washed out the bucket and antisepticalised it yet again.
Got the nearly cold mug of tea drank up, and had a look out of the unwanted or liked new, light & view-blocking kitchen window. By gun it cold when I opened up to take a photograph!
The view was rather attractive though, and an idea for a poem came to mine – unfortunately, the need for another EGPWWB came as well. By the time I got back to the kitchen, the memories of my idea for a poem had all gone off into the ether. Grumph!
I got things ready for the Carer’s visit to fit the Ankle-Support for me. Then onto the computer. Answered a comment on WordPress, and made a start on this blog.
Making another mug of tea, and the ankle went over. A few well-chosen words of discontent and self-recrimination were silently uttered! Only myself to blame though. I knew I had not got the support on and had not taken the stick with me, hence the ‘self-recrimination’ part of things. What a nudnik I am!
I checked the Google Calendar to make sure I had put in the Nottingham City Hospital Appointment for June, and I had. Smug-Mode temporarily adopted! There seemed to be a lot of medical appointments for next week.
The Shaking Shaun affected hands and fingers, ensured I was spending more time correcting my typing, than writing it in the first place! Tsk! Ah, well!
I found that the email telling me my electricity usage for the quarter including the two months I was in the hospital or the home, had gone up by 38% on the previous one? Hmm?
06:40hrs. The late sleep-in, due to the late night, had left me a tad puzzled timewise. I had to rush a bit to get things readied for the Carer visit.
Oh, dear, a WC visit for yet another PHBLWW! I’d hoped to get to Sherwood for some food today… dare I risk it? Dare I not? Hahaha!
07:10hrs. The Carer arrived and soon had the Ankle-Support fitted. All done.
I was a little uncertain of going out what with the wee-weeing situation. But it is urgent I get to the Audio Clinic to get help with the stuck tubes and waxed up holes.
Sorted and washed the three bins, new black bags in and took the waste to the chute. Cleaned the top of the WC support. Feeling a tad weary now!
Made a small mug of tea. I mused and decided I have to risk going out to and up Standard Hill and the Audio Centre. I put the Record Book in the jacket pocket.
Oh, dear, a WC visit for yet another PHBLWW. A minute later once again off for a wee-wee. This one was of the SWDWW (Short-weak-dribbling-wee-wee) variety. All change!
Off out, with trolley-walker and little faith of avoiding any accidents with the wee-wees. But I was wrong, and just managed to avoid any! Cheery Mode Adopted!
Angela and Roy were in the lift when it came down to me. I fear they did not look too enthusiastic this morning, but they cheered up later, thankfully. A lovely friendly couple.
Outside they sped off ahead of me to the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights, Hauptbereitschaftsleiteress Warden’s Temporary HQ. Sarcasm & Insult distribution area. Tenants Socialisationistical Meeting Shed. Telling Inchcock off Zone. Where things like crockery and pottery get stolen from, Rumourmongering Clinic, and somewhere to rest while waiting for the bus, Portakabin, where I caught up with them and some other residents before going out to catch the City bound L9 bus. Had a quick word with Generalfeldmarschalless Warden and Catwalk Model Julie, who is on her own looking after both Courts. She was a little cheerier this morning, bless her.
A big crowd for the buses, but most of the gang got on the Sherwood bus, only a few on the City bound one.
I noticed how pale and anaemic my hands looked as they held on to the trolley. I looked in the reflection in the window, and the face looked etiolated and ghostly as well. Ah, well, what will be, will be!
I dropped off on Queen Street and made my way laboriously and sedulously to and up Standard Hill to the Ropewalk and the Audio Clinic.
Along Upper Parliament Street, taking care with the three-wheel trolley walker. I could not help but notice the rather sad, perhaps dejected look on many of me fellow Nottinghamians faces. Despite the weather beginning to warm up a bit.
I took a snap of Chapel Bar as I passed it. There was a conspicuous absence of citizens about for a Friday.
I risked life an limb to cross over the Pelican lights to get on Park Row to limp up Standard Hill to get to the Audio Clinic.
I made my way carefully, with great weariness up Park Row and Standard Hill.
I looked at the starters on show at Brown’s Restaurant. It was for starters:
Somerset Camembert toast, with Gooseberry compote for only £10.50. Duck liver parfait, red onion marmalade brioche for only £6.75. Pan-seared scallops – rhubarb, smoked pancetta and pea shoots. (I bet Sister Jane would love them, she’s into scallops, bless her).
A little further up the incline, and I had a rest, to et the left foot ease off a bit. The pain was not very pleasant. Due to the chiropodist not calling for so long. Although the gal, Suzie did call the day after I had the Stroke. Huh!
The handlebar on the left was annoying me with its waggling loose. It shouldn’t bother me, but it does for some reason. It’s a funny old world innit?
Not many folks about, but a chap came to me while I was resting, and told me I was looking deathly pale and was I alright, did I need an ambulance. I thanked the man, saying things were okay thank you. He looked a little disbelieving, told me to take care and wandered off, looking back at me a few times? Not doing a lot for my confidence, this. Hehehe!
I continued up the hill, carefully.
Arriving at the people-less scene at the clinic, and went in, getting out my Appointment/record book. I approached a lady on the reception desk, who looked right wee’d off with life. By the time I had told her of my woe and problems, she became a lot friendlier and cheered up. She handed me some Hearing Aid Batteries I asked her for. Then I explained the problem with the actual aid, and my not being able to get the tubes off, to clear off the wax. Thus they are not much use to me, telling her I did not know if the Stroke had left my fingers too weak to remove the tubing. She made me an appointment for next Monday with an audiologist, for 0845hrs. Usually, I would be pleased with it being so early in the day and would walk from home to the session. This time decided I will catch a number 40 bus on Winchester Street. I must find out what the cost will be, and make sure I have the right cash with me and sort out the times. (Well that’s the plan, anyway, Hehe!) The lady filled in the appointment sheet for me, and I was off outside.
I walked back to the bus stop a different way. Taking things even steadier now, as I was going downhill. And this trolley-walker does not like going downhill at all.
There were a couple of hairy moments en route to the City Centre, Chapel Bar and level ground, but no Accifauxpas. Smug-Mode-Adopted!
I called in a small Tesco and got tomatoes, a pint of milk and a box of two fresh cream eclairs. I intend to hand Doris one of them as a thank you for caring about me.
Through the City Centre along Long Row.
There was a Big Issue gal outside Debenhams store; and not many folk about. So I slipped her a couple of quid.
I went up Queen Street to the top and the L9 bus stop. I timed it well for once, and the bus arrived five minutes later. I got on the bus without any hassle and got myself seated.
No other residents of Winwood got on at all, odd that. As the bus pulled off, I noticed the old Tall & Small clothing shop that had closed down, had opened up as The Culfather, A traditional Turkish Barbeque food outlet.
Just what we need, another takeaway in Nottingham! Considering that eleven have gone bankrupt in the City Centre already this year!
I got off at Winwood Heights, and exchange hello’s with a few people who were getting on the bus. But there was not enough time for any chinwags, as a wee-wee was needed.
I made my way as fast as I could, without risking injury to the apartment. I rang Doris’s doorbells as I unlocked my door, and handed her one of the cakes, splitting them up. Doris seemed to like it and accepted it. Pleased-Mode-Adopted.
Inside and hastened to the WC… and what a change in the wee-wee! It was an LHNCWW (Long-Hosepipelike-No-Sensation-Wee-wee), that seemed to tire me out, somehow? Ah, well, a change is as good as a rest!
Had a wash-up. Then, I got the computer on and added the Monday appointment to the Google Calendar.
Took the evening medications, and made a brew of tea.
Then got a landline phone call. “This message has been forwarded from BT… I rang off at this point. This is now several of these messages that have come through. Pete said some came in while I was in the hospital. I’ve hed three since being home. They tell me that my BT internet connection will be terminated within 24 hours if I do not ring a number within 6 hours… A con or fiddle of some sort, I assume! As I am not on BT? But it still bothers me! Has anyone else had these calls, please?
Very, very thin Bamboo socks
I started to update this blog, and the door-chime rang out its “I only want to be with you” tune from Dusty Springfield.
It was the postman, with a parcel. (Diabetic extra-wide socks that were due to be delivered next Tuesday), and the INR-Warfarin Anticoagulation and the current Deep Vein Thrombosis results and dosages for the week. The nurse, the beautiful nurse, is due again next week to take some more blood.
Warfarin results & dosage
As least the INR level is good this time, only .6 above the target figure.
The dosages all being the same makes things easier to remember this week.
Then Jane rang on the landline. (An unexpectedly busy afternoon/evening, Hehe!)
We had a long nattering session which I enjoyed. She had to go to get the nosh prepared for herself and hubby Peter.
I went on the TFZer Facebooking and photo album adding.
I stood watching the rain, though the unwanted new multi-panes of glass needing cleaning, light & view blocking windows. The mind wandered, but it wasn’t missed. Hehehe!
Tended to the simple but tasty meal preparation. Baked beans flavoured with tomato puree, mustard, curry powder, demerara sugar and white distilled vinegar. They had been marinating most of the day, lovely flavour this time. Cooked and added some smoked streaky bacon, and did some part-baked cobs in the oven, to soak up the treat. Sliced an apple too. I’m afraid once again, the appetite was not up to the job. I left about half of it. Tsk!
Late for me, I settled to get some sleep. It took a while to nod off, and then the legs and feet kicked off, waking me. Arthur Itis and Colin Cramps had a go at me.
It felt as if some worms were wriggling about under the skin in the lower legs, and a little pain with it?
03:30hrs. Up out of the £300 second-hand c 1968 rusty recliner and of to the WC. Along with a cracking headache from yesterdays cut and tumble.
Water heater light still on, but no hot water?
Not feeling too good at all, down and many various new pains. Tsk!
Back to the WC, another RWPSWW (Reluctant-Weak-Painful-Spraying-Wee-Wee).
Updated the Wednesday post and sent some stuff to Pinterest.
Back to the WC, another RWPSWW (Reluctant-Weak-Painful-Spraying-Wee-Wee).
Made a brew and took the morning medications. The headache throbbing away, differently, this time on the left side, but the cut and bruise are on the right side?
Back to the WC, for an RWPSWW (Reluctant-Weak-Painful-Spraying-Wee-Wee) again!
Tried to gather the thoughts and tasks for the day.
Carer at around 07:00hrs to fit ankle-support.
Amazon will be delivering some diabetic socks sometime today.
I have to get to the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights Flats, and Administration shed for the Generalleutnantess Wardens Temporary HQ, Sarcasm & Insult distribution area, Tenants Socialisation Shed. Rumourmongering Clinic. Telling Inchcock off Zone, Things like crockery and pottery to be stolen from, and residents room, to try and get some help with reporting the hot water not working.
Drop some nibbles off for the Social Hour gathering, which yet again I will have to miss!
Get in touch with the Haematology Anti-thrombosis Therapy team, to get the new Warfarin doses.
Do the full Occupational Therapy exercises.
Calm down and not feel so depressed. (It is terrible at the moment).
Must stay in all day, for delivery, hopefully, a plumber to get the hot water going, visit or call from Mental Health nurse, etc.
Take extra pain-killers. (Head and returning leg stiffness and soreness)
Stay close to the WC. Tsk!
Remember to take extra Senna to try and move the solids.
Jump out if the balcony… Only joking, Hehe!
Back to the WC, for an RWPSWW (Reluctant-Weak-Painful-Spraying-Wee-Wee) yet again!
Went on TFZer Facebooking.
Back to the WC, for an RWPSWW (Reluctant-Weak-Painful-Spraying-Wee-Wee) yet again!
Got a wash and changed into the togs, got the sock-glide and Ankle-Support out ready for the carer to call.
I got myself in a bit of a panic, searching for the wrist-alarm. Eventually finding it on my wrist! What an Eizel!
Doing things on auto-pilot now. I still keep thinking hot water is available from the tap. Saucepans of water on the stove on a low setting. Hope I don’t get the shakes again when using them, Phwert!
Made a brew and awaited the arrival of the carer.
Back to the WC, for an RWPSWW (Reluctant-Weak-Painful-Spraying-Wee-Wee) yet again! Tsk!
Carer arrived, and I explained how and why I was feeling a tad depressed. He fitted the Ankle-Support for me, told me to have a good day, and off he poddled.
I went on Coreldraw for a while, to do a template. Before going to try and see Julie to ask her to call the maintenance people for me, about the hot water not being on.
08:40hrs. I used the walker-trolly, having loaded it with raffle prizes and nibbles for the Social Hour that I will have to miss yet again! Walked nice and steadily to the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights Flats, and Administration shed for the Generalleutnantess Wardens Temporary HQ, Willmott-Dixon workers breakfast and tea-break room, Sarcasm & Insult distribution area, Tenants Socialisation Shed. Rumourmongering Clinic. Telling Inchcock off Zone, Things like crockery and pottery to be stolen from, and residents temporary hut. But it was still unopened. So I took a slow wander to the end of Chestnut Way and started back again.
Coming towards me I spotted Cyndy. She had a natter with John (That may be the wrong name, Tsk!) at the bus stop. Then I followed her, with her treats for the social hour crew. I explained about the hot water situation and that I had hoped to ask Julie if she could call for me. The hearing aids tubes being waxed up solid and stuck did not help. Bless her cotton socks, she whipped out her mobile and rang them for me straight away ♥. All sorted, it is on an emergency, and they will arrive sometime today, or night. I was thanking Cyndy for her help and noticed a white van going down the road through the window. The trailer wasn’t going through the window, I was looking through it… made a mess of that sentence, didn’t I? Tsk! I thought it might be the new diabetic socks being delivered.
I chased after the van, which got delayed waiting for a works tractor, and caught up with the chap and asked him if the parcel was for number 72 – but it wasn’t, it was for number 62. Ah-well!
The rush with the trolley-walker about creased me – but I managed it. (Smug Mode Adopted!)
I met Doris as I was going into the flat. She couldn’t stop, cause she needed to see Robert the caretaker to get him to have another look at her gone haywire radiator settings.
Got in and to the WC, for an RWPSWW (Reluctant-Weak-Painful-Spraying-Wee-Wee) yet again! Tsk!
Updating this diary, and a jolly decent electrician chap appeared to sort out the tripped water heater. We had a natter and laughed while he did it. He then showed me where a boost button was for the water heater. Pressing it, causes it to run for an hour. Brilliant, he gave it a press for me. It had tripped-out. About the fourth time, this has happened.
I then did some draughts on WordPress.
Sorted some bags of rubbish and took them to the chute.
Back to the WC, for an RWPSWW (Reluctant-Weak-Painful-Spraying-Wee-Wee) yet again! Tsk!
I decided to catch the bus to Sherwood. What made me think of doing this with all the things on today’s list I’ve no idea. I got as far as the lift and thought; What are you doing pillock? The socks are being delivered today, and the IRN nurse is due? A brain freeze maybe? Tsk! Ay-yay-yay!
Got the meal early today, I felt like I could eat some today. I got the balance right for once this time. Battered fish fingers, apple, and tomatoes, with some milk roll bread made into tomato sarnies, and a lemon mousse, but I didn’t eat the dessert and left some tomato slices and some apple, but not much. A filling nosh, all the same. Nice and tasty too.
Half-way through eating, Sister Jane rang. The line was terrible, but we had natter of sorts, bless her. Oh, I’m making my meals too big, and overeating bread, I think. Hahaha!
Back to the WC, for an RWPSWW (Reluctant-Weak-Painful-Spraying-Wee-Wee) yet again! Double-Tsk!
15:40hrs, the doorbell rang out it’s Dusty Springfield “I only want to be with you” chime. It was the Diabetic socks, being delivered. Thanked the man and stored them away in the airing cupboard with the others.
Back to the WC, for an RWPSWW (Reluctant-Weak-Painful-Spraying-Wee-Wee) yet again! Double-and-a-half Tsks!
I fell asleep, and the nurse let herself in and woke me gently so as not to make me jump. (This didn’t work, Haha!).
As I walked her to the door after giving my blood. Well, she took it, haha!, I found a letter near the door. It was dated 24th April? I have an appointment with a Dr S K Raghunathan at the C-SKR2C Stroke medicine, located near the outpatients, on the North Corridor. N5, City. For Tuesday 25th June 2019 at 10:30hrs. I have to take with me: This letter – A list of medications including how much you take, and how often (I have no idea really?) – Glasses and hearing aids that I use – And an up to date mobile phone number. I added this date to the Google calendar. And I thought retirement and old age would mean peace and rest. Schmuck!
Back to the WC, for an RWPSWW (Reluctant-Weak-Painful-Spraying-Wee-Wee) yet again! Treble-Tsks!
I opted to nip down to the foyer and see if a washing machine was free to use, taking the stick and laundry bag with me. One was not in use, but only the device I have never used before was available. I noticed that Gruppenführeress and Ballerina Warden Julie was doing the Fire Alarm Testing with another lady, and she threw the clobber in the machine in seconds and got it going for me.
The timer showed 20 minutes. I liked this, cause the clothing I was washing was from the Oaks Home and had only been worn once, I liked the idea of not waiting for too long.
I nipped outside in the drizzle, and by gum, it was nippy! I took some photographs of the complex from Chestnut Way.
Woodthorpe Court
Winwood & Winchester Courts
Woodthopre Grange Park end
The new ceiling had had some new, I think, roof light openings.
I took it that they were not finished yet?
Another look at the machine, and it was 4 minutes left. So I hobbled in ready to move the togs to the dryer when the washer ended its cycle. I moved the stuff and got the dryer going, then out to the foyer and the crossword book.
I noticed Angela and Roy coming in from a taxi, and took this snap of them. A grand couple.
I asked if it was alright if I put their photograph on my blog and Angie agreed.
They both looked tired-out, bless them. I wished them well, as they went to get the lift up to their flat.
Went to check on the dryness of the laundry in the dryer. It felt okay, so I started to take out the things to fold them, and found an odd sock! Humph! After a search, I found the missing sock still in the washing machine and rescued it!
Packed the bag and off to the elevator. I couldn’t help but notice the mess that had been scratched on the reflective wall end. Huh!
I got in the flat, to the WC, for an RWPSWW (Reluctant-Weak-Painful-Spraying-Wee-Wee) yet again! Flipping heck. Tsk!
I put the wet sock on the clothes airer and stored the rest away.
I took the evening medications and made up next weeks dosage pots. Then made a brew, it was late, but I decided to catch up on this blog to save time in the morning. During which I had four visits to the WC for an RWPSWW. Getting ridiculous this Wee-weeing!
I realised that I had forgot to take off and wash the Ankle-Support. But it was far too late to get it done and dried now. Schlemiel!
04:15hrs. I woke and lay there gathering some minuscule resemblance of appreciation, comprehension, and perception of what the hell I was doing, where, and who I was! But concentration soon formed, and recognition and understanding were thankfully grasped and retained. But I don’t mind telling you, those few scatty-moments, scared the hell out of me! I really thought another stroke was taking place. Phew!
Now in my usual only slightly confused state, the realisation of the need for a wee-wee became urgent. As I extracted my cumbersome overweight body from the £300 second-hand, c1968 rickety recliner, it became evident that the right leg was a lot worse this morning. It took some effort to control the shaking, and the pain in the knee took a while and some painkillers to dissipate.
The stick-assisted hobble to the WC took so long: I thought an accident might occur. But I got there in time; In time for the most sprayed out weak trickle! A new name for this type of wee-wee was given. RWPSWW (Reluctant-Weak-Painful-Spraying-Wee-Wee) It took me ages after the pathetic five-second evacuation, to clean up where the stuff had sprayed. The WC, floor, cabinet, sink, etc. The antiseptic disinfectant bottle is running very low now. Haha! I reckon the leg shaking so badly made things worse.
I had a wash and did the teggies, and got dressed. Not easy, with having to use the time-taking Sock-Glide. Limped in not a little pain with the leg, into the kitchen. (That sounds like I took the leg with me, which I did, of course, I had no choice in the matter… I’m losing it again here! Hehehe!)
I got the kettle on and took the medications with an extra pain-killer. Within half-an-hour the knee pain eased-off, when I was not using it. Made sure the Ankle-Support strapping was all ready for the Carer’s visit.
I got the computer on and checked the calendar for today. 07:00>08:00hrs Carer to fit the Ankle-Support strapping. 08:00hrs Anticoagulation blood test nurse. 09:30hrs: Occupational Therapy Nurse. Axonotmesis (injury to the peripheral nerve of one of the extremities of the body [Legs]. The axons and their myelin sheath are damaged in this kind of injury. Although the endoneurium, perineurium, and epineurium may remain intact), nurse – sometime today.
Went on the WordPress Reader section. Then updated yesterdays blog diary. Then on Pinterest to add some photographs. Checked emails and responded to messages.
Again, I felt the need to make my way to the WC. This time was exactly like the first effort, but with the leg having steadied down on its shaking, I avoided too much ‘Spread-it-about-splashing’! Again it lasted only a few seconds but was a tad more determined this time. Then the need for an evacuation from the other end. At least I thought so, but only wind and pith escaped. Huh!
Back to the computer, and started this Inchcock Today off. It was not long, before more signs of my needing the Porcelain Throne arrived again. So, not taking any chances, I made my way to the wet room. No luck at all. Wind accompanied by an unpleasant aroma. But a sprinkle and weak spraying of RWPSWW followed? It seems that both evacuation areas are somewhat reluctant this morning. Humph!
I washed and off to the medical cabinet and took a Senna (to encourage the back end) and a Furosemide (in the hope of proper flowage from Little Inchy). Made a brew of tea.
The mist was clearing away, and I took this snap of the view from the unwanted new, light and view-blocking kitchen windows. I used this picture for a later background to Inchcock’s Thoughts on CorelDraw.
Back to the Porcelain Throne. There was still no movement, although the senses tell me there should be? Oh Heck!
The carer is due to do the Ankle-Support strap for me. Ah, here he is! All sorted within eight minutes. This chap has got the hang of the Ankle-Support strapping now, bless him.
I went on the TFZer Facebooking, and put some pictures from yesterday on the albums.
The rather glamorous and highly desirable, but too young and good looking for me (Dam it!) nurse arrived to take some blood for the INR Warfarin anticoagulation clinic. After she had departed, I made a mug of tea, while her: oh, so appealing face tormented me in my memory. Well, I can’t help it! Hehe!
I had a go at setting up the Coreldraw 2019, without any luck – made a right mess of it! I got in a right proper pickle! I gave up.
0935hrs: Caroline and Sonia, from the City Hospital Occupational Therapy Unit arrived. Much heavy going therapy followed, for an hour or so.
Sonia departed, leaving Caroline to do some Q & A and Therapy. (Aching all over, now, Haha!).
Lovely ladies, patient and kind. The session was finished around 11:35hrs.
I caught up with this blog up to here. And then took some black bags to the chute and recyclable stuff to the bins outside on the way to the bus and Arnold to go to Asda to get some bread and butter in.
Called at the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights, Hauptbereitschaftsleiteress Warden’s Temporary HQ. Sarcasm & Insult distribution area. Tenants Socialisationistical Meeting Shed. Telling Inchcock off Zone. Where things like crockery and pottery get stolen from, Rumourmongering Clinic, and somewhere to rest while waiting for the bus, Portakabin.
T’was raining, so no photographicalisationing on the way out. Met Frank in the hut and Cyndy joined us later, and a good gossip ensued as we waited for the bus. Cyndy got on the same one as I did, (For once I caught the right bus. Hehe!) A good chinwag en route. Cyndy kindly rang hubby Eric and arranged for him to call around 15:30hrs, to have a look at the wobbly handlebar on the three-wheel trolley for me. That was kind!
I dropped off the bus outside Asda and went in and got the shopping. Spent £10.40, so some will-power was used. Squash, Lemon Mousse, Potatoes (hopefully to be shared with Doris again at the weekend), Butter, mushrooms, turnip, carrot, parsnip, apple, and some Milk Rolls. I sneaked one in the freezer later for Jane when she calls again, but don’t tell her! Haha! Then over the road and some of the fantastic extra large eggs, to had to Cyndy or Eric helping. Some lemon ice cream and beef steaks on offer at Fultons Foods.
I thought I’d catch the L9 bus on its way to Bestwood, and stay on and come back all the way to the flats.
When the bus arrived, the lady driver asked if I was going to the flats, cause this bus is on change-over and I’ll have to get off and wait for the next bus from Bestwood. “Fair enough”, I said, cursing my luck! She heIped me off at the terminus. It wasn’t a long wait though. That driver also helped me onto the bus when it came.
In Arnold, a lady and her disabled wheelchair-bound son got on, and I moved to another chair to enable them to get in the disabled section. The kind driver helped them on and moved the lad and chair into position… belting on the right knee with the big electric chair as he did so. Apart from the pain, his intentions were good, Haha!
Back at the flats and I was getting weary as I walked back to the flat. Nobody about at all, but for me it was late, and tiredness dawned.
The weather looked a bit bleak, too.
And a wee-wee was much needed. Which I tended to first-thing. I may get out the EGPWWB (Emergency Grey Plastic Wee-wee bucket) later on, for fluids burst forth, not vigorously, but there was no controlling things! A bit like the VSFWBWWWs (Very Short Frequent-Weak-But-Wayward-Wee-wees)
Put the bits bought away, got some spuds on the boil, and I made a start on this update.
Eric and Cyndy arrived at 16:00 to have a look at the trolley. But Eric said, “Nowt can be done!” Ah, well, I’ll have to live with it rattling, then.
Got the oven on to warm up, ready for the beef steak.
Imbibed the evening medications with a drink of fresh orange juice.
16:00hrs: The hot water was cold! I presume that the electrics had tripped out again. It’s done that three or four times since I’ve been in the flat. But, I’ll have to wait until 18:00hrs to see if it comes on. I’m not the luckiest of people, am I? I’ll report it in the morning. No shave or bath tonight then. Tsk!
Depression Mode Engaged! With good reason this time.
Called to see Doris, who returned the book her offshoot had read and enjoyed. I asked if her hot water was working and it was. She said the heater comes on at 18:00hrs, so I’ll wait until then to see if it come back on, but my hopes and run of bad luck, along with my EQ, say’s it will not.
I suppose I can get a shave using hot water from the kettle, (hopefully, I will not get the shakes and cut myself or pour boiling water on myself), and a wash of sorts.
Dispirited, everything seems to be going wrong for me at the current time, and I don’t like it! Humph!
Got the nosh served up, not that I feel like eating now – moroseness, self-pity, and lack of any good luck is doing me no good at all.
Got a shave of sorts. But, I am fed-up, disheartened, dejected, gloomy, melancholy and in the doldrums… oh, and demoralised! Enough is enough, surely some good luck is due to come my way? No, maybe not, then!
And today I told Caroline that I do not get depressed!
Peed-off, I got the plate of unwanted food and tried to eat some it. I ate around 40% of it and didn’t enjoy any of it at all.
I felt grumpy, irritable, churlish, cantankerous, and crotchety. To make things worse, I had to use the kettle and saucepans to get hot water to wash the greasy plate, etc. The same for a shave, going twixt wet room and kitchen!
Sorry if I do sound ratty… but I am!
I decided to get a shower do the teggies and have a shave. I soon found out that the legs were getting back to their old bloated misshaped and spotty condition, with the anaemic, paleness, with different leg thicknesses that they were before the Stroke!
I thought I was a little depressed earlier, with all that is going wrong again. Now things are getting enough to try the patience of a saint!
While shaving, I kicked some bottles at the base of the sink, that I’m blown if I can remember them being there before – anyway the result was half an hour or so trying to stop the bleeding where I caught the razor on my head as fell over.
I finished the shaving and did the teggies, then got under the shower. Had a good scrub up. Afterwards, the head was still bleeding again!
I must try not to back-head a sink again, and try to gain control over the arm with the razor attached in future! Hahaha!
I wonder if I can sue anyone for this calamity of the ht water failing again? No, better not. Knowing my luck if the case went to court I’d probably get on the wrong bus and be defaulted. Silly Alter Cocker!
When I looked at these pictures, I realised just how pale I am looking. I might get some rougue foundation cream? Hehehe! Oh, I’ve just noticed, the hairs have gone from my shoulders and chest? Huh!
This Lucky Nottinghamian tried to get some sleep. But the hassle and failures of the day were bouncing about in the brain. So I got up and updated this load of tosh.
Still no hot water, although the light had come on at the emersion heater?
03:40hrs: Good sleep for once. Woke and escaped the clutches of the highly appreciated £300 second-hand cir1968 rickety recliner with relative ease. Walked to the wet room to utilise the Porcelain Throne without using the stick, a mistake I found out later. Tsk!
The wee-weeing was much user-friendlier this time, with a bit like the old SWWW (Short-weak-wee-wee) returning at last. The evacuation was far less messy as well. At this stage, I realised I must not get too confident, all the same. I nearly went over as the damned Axonotmesis affected ankle went on its side, and I am afraid to say, I uttered a couple of expletives I’ve not used for a while. Self Stupidity Recognition Mode Engaged! Only myself to blame for not using the stick, especially as the Ankle-Support was not on yet either! Oy Vey! Then I needed another wee-wee… Oh dearie me!
I think that I had had a dream last night as well, the first one I can recall since the Stroke – is that a good thing? It was vague, mind, I can’t remember any detail of it, just the sensation of having one.
I took the medications, and then made a brew of tea. With the smell lingering of the cheesy potatoes from last night. Hehe!
The legs were still stiff and the knees playing-up. However, I got the socks on without using the sock-glide, but it was too painful to try that again for a while. I might be expecting too much, too soon?
I got updating yesterdays blog and got it sent off to WordPress.Made another brew of tea, then went on the WordPress Reader. Next, I made a start on this post, while awaiting the arrival of a Carer to fit the Ankle-Support for me.
The tea went cold again, so I got the stick and hobbled carefully to make another brew.
I then opened the unwanted new light and view-blocking new windows to take a shot of the view. It felt a bit nippy, but a fantastic slightly misty view to peruse, all the same.
Checked the Emails and replied to them. Jenny sent a nice one to me. I hope she will be back soon amongst us, and our little gossips can continue again.
The Carer should be here soon, and I can get mobile then after the Ankle-Support is fitted. He arrived on time ten-minutes later. It was the same chap as Saturday and remembered the way to install the support. He was soon all done, I thanked him, and he departed.
Continued on blogging.
Got things ready, including the walker, for a bus ride to the City Centre, via a visit to the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Flats, Oberstgruppenführer Wardens Temporary HQ, Toilet, Sarcasm & Insult distribution area, Rumourmongering Clinic. Tenants Socialisation Shed. Telling Inchcock off Zone. Things like China and other pottery to be stolen from, and residents shed.
All ready and set off out, taking two waste bags to the chute of the way out. Called at Doris’s, but no answer.
Once on Chestnut Way, I thought I’d photograph the road and buildings. Ahem, No camera!
Back up to the flat and collected the camera, and down again. Took two shots left to right as I faced the flats.
A lovely day, and not too much traffic about yet. Got to the hut and a chinwag or two for twenty-minutes as we waited for the bus. Out to the bus stop.
As I approached to get on the bus, I realised I did not have the bus pass with me! Dunderhead Class 1, Grade A!
Back up to the flat and picked up the pass. Then down to the hut again, taking a crossword book to do while waiting for the next bus, and a couple of completed books to hand in at a Charity Shop.
When the bus arrived, I got on the wrong one!
A Self-Recrimination Mode was adopted. At least Margaret and Hubby found it funny as we nattered on our way to the City Centre. We joked about things, and Margaret suggested I go to the Alladin’s Cave, in Victoria Centre market, to see if they had any horns I cod fit to my three-wheeled trolley and some L- plates. Hahaha!
The left handle worked lose when we moved over a bump. For some reason, this annoyed me muchly. Marge said to ask Eric (Cyndy’s other half), to take a look at the trolley bars.
Not one of my better days, especially following a great day yesterday. Grumph!
We dropped off in town, Margaret and Tom went into Wilko’s, and I made my way to the Victoria Centre Market. Up in a lift and to the Alladin’s Cave stall.
But they did not stock any air-horns or learner-plates. So, down in the elevator and hobbled to the other end and the Tesco store.
They had no pork-knuckle or milk loaves. Now I engaged a Proper-Fed-Up Mode!
Walked to the other end of the shopping centre and out and across the road to the Poundland shop. I got some nibble treats for raffle prizes at the Social Hour this Thursday.
I dropped the books in the Age Concern Charity stop on Lincoln Street.
Then onto Clinton Street. Where I took this picture of the organ-box player and the cheerful passing Nottinghamians.
With cock-ups causing a late start and the trolley giving me grief, I decided to walk to the Slab Square, then up to the L9 bus stop on Queen Street to catch the bus home.
On Long Row, where Sheila said another stabbing had taken place over the holidays, a poster advertising the Magnificent Spiegeltent one day Circus was spotted, with the erection of the scene can be seen behind.
Further along, at the corner of Queen/King Street, another sad sight of a closed down retail shop!
I took a firm grip on the wobbly trolley-walker and made my way up to the L9 bus stop. Where I met a lady who uses the bus regularly and we had a laugh and chinwagging session as we awaited the late arrival of the bus.
Queen Street looked a bit of a mess, and the unhappy Nottinghamians and Pavement Cyclist did not help.
I took a close look at the advert on the waste bin. It promoted the 2019 Big Nottingham Spring Clean! Then noticed the bus shelter I was in, in need of some attention. Hehe!
Margaret and Hubby, along with Mary got on the bus at the next stop, and the five of us had a good laugh and chinwag en-route to the flats.
When we got off of the bus, Sheila and I had a chat with Nottingham City Home Unterofficer Patch Manager and Ballerina.
I got to the flat and had a much needed, SWWW.
Put the bits I’d bought away, and started to update this blog, and the phone rang. It was the Anticoagulant Nurse, she will be calling at 08:00hrs in the morning (Wednesday), to take a blood sample. Which is good, cause I have the Physio nurse calling at 09:30hrs, and an Axonotmesis nurse calling sometime as well. So that’s worked out for once!
Later, the phone tone burst forth again: “I’m at the back of yer house!” – “Who are you? – “Just eat KFC” – “I live in a flat!” – “F@~} me!” End of call! Hehehe!
Doris dropped off the book I’d loaned her. I got some small spuds in the saucepan.
Then got caught up on Facebooking and the TFZers.
Got the medications taken and nosh served up.
Back to the lack of appetite-syndrome after yesterdays gobbling-up of all that meal. Left a lot of it, but I ate all of the Sicilian tomatoes and pork pie. The tasteless Spanish tom’s, the bread and the dessert were discarded.
Had a check on and talk with Doris.
Watched a TV programme, then had a shave and shower, into the night-attire.
A lousy day overall, too many brain freezes and Whoopsiedangleplops, far too many for my liking.
04:12hrs. Woke from a deep sleep, so glad that I had had sower and shaved last night. Escaped the welcoming warmth of the second-hand £300, circa 1968 rickety recliner, and limpingly to make a brew. (No Angle Support, it is still, hanging drying above the kitchen sink.
I was making the tea and had to divert to attend the Porcelain Throne. A right messy do it was, I seem to have gone from struggling to things being unstoppable overnight?
Tablets were taken, and had a wash, changed into day clobber and got on with updating this blog, while I waited for the Ocado delivery and the Carer to arrive.
I stopped a while, to work out the new set of medications and confirm to myself what they are being taken for. Google searching: Lansaprozole 15mg: Duodenal Ulcer – Senna 10mg: Help with passing – Paracetamol: Pain relief – Codeine 30mg: Pain relief for Axonotmesis – Chlorphenamine 8mg: Food allergy? – Bisoprolol 10mg: Beta blocker, heart – Ramipril 10mg: High Blood Pressure – Atorvastatin 80mg: Cholesterol – Novicol sachets: Chronic Constipation – Warfarin 3mg: Blood thinner… I’ve just realised this is a list of medications I was on during the stay at the Oaks Residential Home, not a proper up to date one. Well, that was a waste of time – Hahaha!
Ocado van arrived. Got the stuff stored away, but could find no Valencia Orange lollies as charged for when I checked on the Ocado site.
Sent an Email informing them. We’ll see what happens. Most annoying! I ordered a Sourdough batch, I hope to use three slices and hand the rest to Doris if I can catch her in later on in the day.
Then the Carer arrived, I greeted him with a cheery unanswered good morning. Absolutely no idea of how to put the ankle-support on. So I enlarged a photograph on the CorelDraw screen for him to access. Quiet chap, not talkative or interested in the job really. Sadly, he said he might be calling again tomorrow.
No buses were running today to or from the flats. So another day indoors. Although I might go down to try and get some laundry done, I’ll need a couple of goes to get the mass of washing needing to be done. So I might do it over a few days. In fact. I’ll nip down now and see if there is a free machine.
Back in a bit, folks.
Machine free, so I started the asher and back up in the lift.
I noticed that the Social Shed will be open today at 11:00hrs might call if I can get the washing done in time.
Took some bags to the waste chute. Got more washing ready to take down with me later. Got the laundry bag and down again. Moved things from washer to the dryer and then put the second load in the machine. I met Angela and Roy and had a natter while they waited for a taxi. Roy is not very good, tried to cheer him up, he’s still got his sense of humour though, bless him.
Up again and updated this diary. Back down to the laundry room again. Got the things out of the dryer and the second wash going. Folded the first load and stayed down while the dryer did its thing. Penny came in with some washing and, we had a short natter. Then Olive came in, and I got the stuff out of the dryer so she could use it. We chinwagged all the way back in the elevator together.
Got the togs out away and took a picture from the unwanted light and view-blocking new kitchen window. The morning was breezy but beautiful to look at.
As I put in the SD card, it broke on the teeth bit. I lost 345 photographs! Grumph!
I got another card and retook the picture. Tsk!
Suddenly realised I could now go to the meeting room at the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Flats, Oberstgruppenführer Wardens Temporary HQ, Toilet, Sarcasm & Insult distribution area, Rumourmongering Clinic. Tenants Socialisation Shed. Telling Inchcock off Zone. Things like china and pottery to be stolen from, and residents room. I might find a vegetable bargain. Hehe! And take some updated photographs of the complex.
TTFN, back in a while all. (I hope).
A bit of a farce my getting out. I was going to call to see Jenny/Frank on the way out. I met Olive getting in the lift, and for some reason, the number of Jenny’s flat escaped me. Olive thought it was 52 on the ninth floor, but there was no answer to my ring. So I went down again and told Olive in the laundry room, I’d take some photos of the complex.
I went out and realised I did not have my camera with me! Back up again and got the camera and called at Jenny’s again. Frank appeared as I was getting back in the lift. Gave him the Sourdough bread, cause I know that Jenny likes it.
Down in the lift again and met Angela and Roy who were going to the hut as well. We had a good natter as we walked there, arriving too early so they sat on the bus stop bench and others joined us. As I circled them, I spotted a strange looking flower and snapped it.
At first, I thought there was a bee of some kind on it.
We soon got in the shed, and more residents joined us. Doreen, John, Bill, Ian and more were quickly nattering away.
There was nothing that appealed to me for sale foodwise, but I enjoyed the next hour or so, listening to them all gossiping.
I came out at the same time as Angela and Roy, and after taking a couple of pictures of the compound, we start to walk to our block.
The sky looked incredible, albeit was windy with it. Sufficient for me to take another picture.
The leg shook a couple of times, and I nearly went over en route. Angie told me to take the walker with me next time, I said I would. And Roy told me I was walking with the stick wrongly, and he told me how it should be done, and put my bag on his trolley for me.
I left them as I alighted on the 12th floor. To the flat and checked on the potato in the oven.
Then, I began to update this blog, and Doris came in to see how I was. She kindly accepted some fancy tomatoes from me that I had overordered. Bless her for caring. We had a chat, and she returned back to her flat.
Carried on with the post, then emptied out the potato from the husks and added salt and distilled vinegar and mashed them up together well. Refilled the skins and forked the top and put them back in the oven to brown-off!
One half I will give to Doris, I hope she likes them. I called on Doris and asked her to tell me if she likes her spuds with burnt and crispy tops, she liked them like I do, burnt & crispy, and proceeded to cook them in the oven with the added cheese, distilled vinegar and a little salt to the potato.
I got her half of the potato, added some crispy roast onions and put them on a tray and delivered them to her door.
I hope she like them, this is the first time I have made cheesy-potatoes for anyone.
Served up mine (Photo), and ate the whole lot of it, including some slices of milk loaf. Boy, did I enjoy them – with added Marmite crisps as well! The appetite had returned. But I think this is due to Doris more than the food.
Doris returned the tray, I think she relished them, I do hope so. I felt so proud that I could do something to show my appreciation for her help and concern.
I washed up and had a shower and shave, got the sock-glide and bamboo socks ready for the morning.
Settled to watch some TV, staying awake for too long again. Eventually drifting off into a beautiful sleep. Contentedly!
04:15hrs. Woke up, which I was well pleased with doing (Haha!), after getting to sleep late and suffering panic attacks as I realised I was laying where the Stroke took place and felt a little bilious. Of course, during the stroke, every orifice emptied out, I mean every one of them, and I threw-up first thing. Somehow it frit me, and I began to be scared of going to sleeping? Silly old thing. I felt right fermished!
Got a shower and shave straight away in case the morning carer bloke comes early.
Caught up with blogs at last.
The Carer man arrived, and he was a different one again. Which meant I had to try and remember how the Foot-Retainer straps have to be fitted. Farcical really. The three carers who I’ve had so far, have all got it on in a different way.
Now, because it wasn’t fitted correctly, I have a danger of the ankle going over and am not confident when walking. Not that it matters too much, I have no intention of going out today.
But you can fall down anywhere when the ankle goes while the Axonotmesis nerve shakes are on!
My mind scares me at times. Hehe!
Did his best, but the printed guide is not very clear for using.
The grip has to be washed and dried using no heat every two days… How am I supposed to find the time to take off the device (then I am in danger of going over) and wash it to get it dried in time for his visit at 0700hrs the following morning? Had I had a spare one, all would be okay. Nice chap though, he helped me search for the hearing aids that I’d misplaced. Surely they know how panicky I feel as it is, trying to remember the whens, whats and times for doing things that I need, that I have already forgotten about… that came out wrong, yet it is right? I think.
I made a list of things to ask about and wrote them on the notepad. Said cheerio to the chap, who said it would be another carer again tomorrow. That could mean more fun with learning about the straps. Hehe!
Then I went on Facebook, while the brain was not too bad. Then, I made a start on this blog.
Went to make a brew of tea and put the oven on to warm up ready for the baking of the giant potato. Seeing the Teddy Bear someone (Marie?) sent me, I’m naming him Cuddles! And the beautiful Koala Katie that was sent to me when I was ill earlier cheered me up exponentially.
Oh, is that the right word? I’ll check on it… Yes, exponentially! Hehehe!
But, the shakes started when I got the kettle on, which prompted the legs to join in. Tsk! Then the brain went on strike again. Still, I made the brew and remembered to put the oven on. Smug Mode engaged!
Then I realised I had not taken the medications, so did so. But I could not find any cheese for the spud, so decided to have the out of date polish ham and some instant mash with a boiled egg.
But this didn’t happen. I was so tired I just had some bread thins with the Polish Ham and some sliced lightly salted tomato slices. Then a pot of mandarins in juice.
However, I misjudged my appetite. I managed two of the sandwiches and most of the tomatoes, and only a few of the mandarins, but I did drink all the juice. I didn’t have anything else to eat at all, but I just was not hungry in the slightest. Not like me at all!
Did some work on this blog.
Gave up, as concentration was poor. So I made up two black bags and took them to the waste chute. I used the stick but found that the ankle-support was not working and it was hard work walking. When I returned to the flat, my next door neighbour Doris was calling me through my flat door asking if I was alright. A warm glow of appreciation came over me, and I adopted Appreciation Mode!
She came in, and we had a little chinwag. .She offered to make me something to eat and a mug of tea. I declined. Partly because didn’t want to be a nuisance and the fact that was just not hungry at all. She departed, bless her, saying she would check-up on me later. How kind was that? ♥
I wasn’t feeling too bad, just not hungry and a little weary. I thought I’d watch a DVD episode of Primeval. Fell asleep in minutes of it starting.
When I woke up, I didn’t know if Doris had been in to make her check on me.
So I took of the foot-retainer and got it washed using some liquid soapflakes. I hung it up to dry above the sink, but I’m not sure if it will be dry in time.
Then I did a few pots.
I called on Doris and explained I did not know if she had called on me as I’d nodded off, and was about to get a shower and shave. She was very kind and told me to take care. She pointed out that tomorrow is a Bank Holiday, and questioned if the Carer will be working or not? I bade her the same good wishes, thanked her and a good night.
Going back in the flat to the wet room, and the ankle gave way – No support on you see. And they tell me not to walk without it on… How? When only one, that requires washing every two days; and drying without heat, has been supplied? I can’t win here! I added this problem to the notepad, to tell the Social Services lady when she comes.
I had an excellent refreshing shave and shower. Taking care in case the ankle went over again, it didn’t though. The sock glide was used with a degree of ease, but it still took me fifteen minutes to do both socks. I changed into my nightwear, (No photo, there is a limit to my people-shocking, Hehe!), and checked on the Ankle support I’d hung on the coat hanger in the hopes that it will dry enough to be used in the morning. Naturally, it was still wet.
I decided to finish some more of this diary, then go on Facebook and the TFZer pages for a while.
I took this photographicalisation of the sky through the unwanted, light and view-blocking new kitchen window, of the ominous looking evening sky.
I made a mug of tea. It dawned on me, how little tea I was drinking since getting home? Only my third cup all day, although I had drunk some bottled spring water. Ah, it might be because of all the warm watery milk, masquerading as tea, that I’d been getting in hospital and the care-home? Haha!
Went on the WordPress Reader. Then on TFZer Facebooking.
Before I realised it, it was gone eleven o’clock!
Got settled in the recliner, and it took a while to drop off to sleep, but it was restful when it did come.
03:30hrs. Woke feeling so cold for some reason. Then realised that using the three-wheeled trolley meant I had to move the towel heater in the hallway so I can make room for using the walking-aid-trolley. Phwert! Ah, well!
I got the foot saddle ready for the carer when he or she comes later. Then got a shower and shave, did the teggies.
Rang Sister Jane. She had a good time last night, but can I please not ring her so early! I felt such a fool!
The carer arrived early, different chap this time. The good news is I had mastered the sock-glide this morning. He only had to put the Ankle Protection strap on for me.
Did some blog catching up from the notepad until it was time for me to take the medications. Nice not to forget for once. With month or so of people giving me the meds, it is so easy for me to forget to take them. Grumph!
Got ready, then off to the bus stop with the trolley-walker of course. Called in the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights Flats, and Administration shed for the Generalleutnant Sarcasm & Insult distribution area, Tenants Socialisation Shed. Rumourmongering Clinic. Telling Inchcock off Zone, Things like crockery and pottery to be stolen from, and residents room. Some bits were left over from the cheap out-of-date food selection. Some leeks, that looked all wet and runny. But seeing them made me decide to get some leeks when I was out in Arnold shopping at Asda in Arnold.
However, my getting on the wrong bus forced a change of mind. Nebekh! I decided to go to the old fashioned but not cheap greengrocers on Mapperley Tops, Woodborough Road. So I dropped off the bus and had another battle with the three-wheeled walking aid as I nearly fell getting off the flipping bus again!
I made my way to the shop. It’s excellent shopping there, cause you can buy one leek, one onion, one carrot, one mushroom, and one potato, which I did, along with some large eggs for brekkers in the morning. Mind you; they keep the scales out of view?
Walked over to Sainsbury’s store, resisting buying any meat from the butchers. Swank Mode Adopted! The plan was to have the vegetables done in the slow-cooker and add a tin of beef, later on, a stew of sorts, but we’ll see. Got some tomatoes and bread thins
On the walk home, had to walk downhill to get to the Woodthorpe Grange gates to cut through to the flats.
I took this photo of the clouds, making sure I got the leek sticking out of the trolley walking aid, just for fun.
By the time I got to the gates, I’d had some harassment of sorts.
Farther down Woodthorpe Drive, two Nottinghamian Pavement Cyclist shot by very close me from behind, and the bigger of the two gits, actually spat in front of me, and the spittle hit me! Swine!

This made me so angry!
I recovered my composure, not suitable for my getting excited in my condition, is it?
A bit further down and the trolley again proved it does not like going downhill at all!
I took this shot of the traffic slowing down for the speed-check monitor.
I cut through car park into the Grange and around the footpath on my way to the flats. It was too heavy going shoving the trolley over the semi-wet from last nights grass.
As I stopped for a breather, a man and woman with a little white, long-haired dog came and asked me if I was alright as I didn’t look so good and a bit pale skinned. I thanked them and said I was only taking a breather.
Further along, I met them again, and we had a natter. You can see in these photographs I took of their friendly dog, how windy it was, despite the sunshine.
I took some more photographs as I struggled down the gravel hill to the complex. There is no doubt about it; this trolley will have me over before long.

Somehow I got down and into the apartment without injury, but it was a close thing a few times.
Bought today
I got in and started the stew going from the purchases in the slow-cooker.
Then spent too much time doing the blog updates, and got caught up at last, and posted them off, did some Facebooking.
Got the fodder finished and served up.
I ate it all up without any bread.
Felt a bit bilious, and it was very unsettling laying there in the same place and position in which I had the stroke.
All of which was too much for me. I ended up in panic mode when eventually settled, very late.
Saturday 03:00hrs.Rose and got the shower and shaving done, readied the washed earlier foot controller-pad ready for help with being put on. Wrote pas for staff to get some disposable razors and a newspaper for me sometime and asked carer if this would be possible. The answer was now, not today. The radiators in the hallway outside the door started rattling, clanging and banging away.
Pete called, I called him back. Asked if he could bring some aftershave for me on his next visit (Still waiting) with him. He said yes.
12:50hrs, egg sarnies and a cake for the meal. Settled to watch some Carry On Films, beginning with Carry-On Don’t Lose Your Head The radiators began clattering and banging again. Some engineers in attendance to try and mend the problem. Which continued.
Got the dizzies. Had a veg-curry and rice for my nosh. No dessert. Feeling bilious, but it cleared later. No sleep due to the now louder than ever radiators clanging away. They calmed down then, but they were still giving some noise out. Casino Royale watched on the box, medications given.
The radiators changed to sound like a slow turnover diesel engine.
Then watched the Men in Black, film as some cars were racing each other outside.
Sunday 21st 03:00hrs. The radiators in the hallway outside the door started rattling and banging away, waking up several tenants. I got up and had a shower and shave. Got the foot controller-pad ready for help with being put on.
At 04:00hrs the radiators changed to a tune like a battering ram.
Shave and shower Still awaiting the aftershave. Thus more nicks and cuts acquired. Jan and Pete called. No aftershave yet, still waiting. Radiators changed tune to like a throb-bang-shudder routine. Karen bought my medications. Nosh was a hot dog with onions (Tasty!)
The ankle-pad was applied by the delicious carer.
Radiators altered to a noise like chug-chug-bang routine.
Arguments and bad language at nosh-time.
Then changed to a sort of Dub dun-dun rattle, with the odd bang thrown in. Later, changing to a persitent Ratatat, thud bang. But very loud now!
0330hrs: Got up, and straight on to doing some diary updating. I want to get them all done before posting them so I can get them all on at the same time, and thank the TFZers, residents, mates and cyber friends for all the kind things and pressies, get well messages, visits etc. even if I am still a little confused. But I mustn’t spend too long on the web, as writing is a bit arduous for me yet. So many shakes and nudges. So, cheers to everyone, God Bless you all! ♥
Did a few from the notepads I had with me in hospital, then got the ankle-support device ready for when the morning Carer arrives. Got a shower and shave, a pleasure with some aftershave handy for any cuts. Hehe!
The sock glide is not easy to use, it took me 45 minutes to get one sock on! The carer said he would have a look at it for me in the morning. He fitted the Ankle Brace, filled in the log and departed. He arrived in the forty-five minutes either way if the appointment time, just! Hehe!
I updated a few more diaries from the hospital stay. I wanted to see how I went going out on the bus on my own, using the three-wheeled trolley of course. I set out to go to the Acorn, no… Oaks Residential Home where I’d been for a couple of weeks after the Stroke Ward threw me out, due to bed shortages. Haha! The intent being to had over some nibbles as thanks to the staff who looked after me during my stay.
I wanted to put my phone on charge for a bit, but could not find the charger. Ah, but I am confident I’ll find it later.
I felt a tad nervous, but took my time, nice and steady. The Axonotmesis nerve problem is making the stroke effects worse, but the legs were not so bad this morning, shaking-wise, and the strap-support helps a lot.
I got the trolley with just the nibbles in it and set off out.
Had a great chinwag at the bus stop. Christine, Cyndy, Margaret, Mary, Doreen and others all missed me. This brought forth some witty comments from some of them: Like, “I thought you were dead!”, “Where you been?”, “Who said you could sod-off?” and “Oh, yer back then?” amongst others. Hahaha! So happy to be back!
I caught the City Bound bus and had a natter en route. I dropped off at the bottom of Carlton Road and walked with my trolley thing to and up Bath Street to the Oaks Home, very carefully and slowly.
Overcautiously maybe, but the getting off of the bus presented me with a shock – that damned trolley does like going downhill at all. Tsk! Nearly twisted my knee and clouted my chin getting off. Ah, well!
I was let in, and the manager accepted the nibbles. Then asked me if I had left a mobile charger in my room. Ahem, I had!
I thanked them and walked into town and get some food from the pound shop, but forgot to get some bread. When I came out of the store, the rain was belting down!
I got some chips for tonight’s nibble meal that Sister Jane had left me to eat, bless her.
Got the L9 bus home. Had a natter with some residents on the way home. Then again nearly toppled over when I tried to get the trolley off of the bus! Going to take some getting used to, this trolley is!
Got in, and did a bit more away-time diary catching up on.
Then did the ablutions and got the marvellous ankle-strap-support taken off.
Got the nosh sorted. Sarnies chips and Jane’s pork pie with its load of gelatine in it… Smashing! A pot of satsumas in juice, to follow.
Amazing coloured sky and view tonight.
Took a photo of it, but it didn’t come out so well.
All in all, taking everything into consideration, I wasn’t feeling too bad at all!
Phoned Sister Jane see how she was and thank her again for the help.
I was still a tad nervous when the shakes came on overnight, but no problems.
Hey-ho, things are improving at last. I might regret saying that! Hehe!
