I woke up around 0730hrs WC’d and made a cuppa, consumed me breakfast.
While nibbling away I remembered remembering “Well I’m bound to remember that dream” earlier. But could not remember it – so galling innit!
Medicationalised missen then on the laptop and at the ‘When will Coreldraw9 freeze today’ stage.
No solutions to this problem in sight – Tsk!
Meeting brother-in-law Pete at 1230hrs in town at his bus-stop, then going to the NHS Treatment Centre with him to have his mole removed.
Spit and polished I set off to the bus-stop, feeding Fatima and Fred on the way, and took a photo of the traffic when I arrived at the stop.
The weather was nice and warm.
For some reason it was ages before a bus arrived – when it did it was like getting into a tin of sardines!
I had to stand in the narrow bit near the luggage thingy – and at every stop there was someone getting on and off – and every one had to squash by me, thus causing the boil-on-me-bum great pain! Tsk!
Got into town and met Pete, who seemed a tad preoccupied. We caught the bus out to the Queens Medical Centre and walked through to the rear and the Treatment Centre.
Very hygienic cold and clinical it looked to.
To the ‘G’ station top floor and Pete logged in and we had a farcical chin-wag (Us both being hard of hearing like).
Pete was called in and I got me book out to read and waited until he was released.
He seemed happy with how it went – said a Chinese chappy had done the cutting out of his mole and seemed to think it went well – also Pete mentioned the red patches that were appearing on this face and the Doc gave him a prescription to have filled on site.
Good that I thought.
We walked to the Chemists place and put in Pete’s prescription. While we were waiting a lady with a child handed in a prescription and the lady asked if she had any allergies… It took the woman ages to list them off, she must have told of about 8 at least… poor thing.
Pete gave me a look at his back and the plaster was already falling off of the wound where they had removed his mole. I pressed it back on best I could.
Pete’s prescription had some of the same things in it that were in my G.U.M. cream.
We poddled (Still chin-wagging of course) to the bus-stop and it was ages and ages until one came.
Took a posed photograph of Pete as he was getting a bit irked at not being able to get back to Jane as soon as he would have liked to. I think he forced a smile.
Pete was taking a photograph of me at the stop.
Me looking in my usual cheery ebullient happy-go-lucky upbeat self.
Then it rained for all of 30 seconds and stopped.
We caught the Airport bus back into Nottingham and dropped-off in Friar Lane.
Said farewells to Pete who wanted to rush back off to Jane and left me as I crossed over to and through the Slab Square.
I lot of folk about so I hobbled through the square, noticing that the fountains were well used by the young kids enjoying themselves under the water and getting thoroughly soaked and loving it.
I thought best not to take a photo of these kids, because someone might get the wrong end of the stick like… yer know?
In front of the Council House on the pedestrianised area were apprentice yobs doing wheelies on their bikes – the CPO’s doing nothing about it – yet last week when I sheltered from the rain they moved me back into the rain on so I didn’t block the entrance for the wedding guests… Didn’t bother me mind… I had a word with them…
Having realised how late it was and seeing the size of the queues at the bus-stops I decided to walk it back to Carrington.
Walked up through Trinity Square onto Mansfield Road and further examples of the Nottingham (Sod the pedestrians) Cyclists were discovered.
But they don’t bovver me like…
Onto Mansfield Road and up the hill out of town to the Cemetery.
Although I felt tired, I was in fine form as I hastily hobbled up the road.
I reckon Arthur Itis was giving me a nice break today.
Anne Gyna too!
Half way up the hill and the roadworks had caused the usual chaos with the traffic.
The usual collection of wino’s and alcoholics that would be gathering outside the 24 hour store that sell the high content lager were conspicuous by their absence – odd that?
On this stretch of Mansfield Road one can get a variety of pongs that are maybe not available elsewhere yer know… The different brewery smells, the pizza, beefburger, Turkish foods, Chinese foods, wonderful smells from the ‘Tings Caribbean’ store, The Plava Laguna aromas, the Umar Kayyam restaurants smell of grease, Chez Cors noshery, Jalisco Eatery, Daylan Turkish Cuisine, The Uni Take-away, The Lobster Pot etc.
Another Nottingham Pavement Cyclist threatening on the way up the hill. Tsk!
Totally oblivious he rides along hand on hips.
I walked up and over the brow of the hill and down towards Gregory Boulevard.
Another Pavement Cyclist who belted passed me making me jump and then carried on to do it again to pedestrians lower down the hill.
Yet another damned Pavement Cyclist on Mansfield Road threatening!
Further on, a mere few hundred yards and what do I find?
Yes, yet another Nottingham Pavement Cyclist.
This time even more dangerous perhaps?
As he gets his head down and doesn’t even look where he’s racing to?
I did try shouting at this Herbert, but it made no difference he plodded on – I rather hoped he’s slip off the kerb and get crushed by the bus – but then felt rather guilty.
Mmm.
As I walked limpingly now through Carrington to the twitchel – I espied the Chinese Takeaway was open – so I treated missen to a Vegetables in bean sauce and a bag of chips – then hastened back to the flea-pit made a cuppa and enjoyed eating this delightful concoction with relish and me medications.
I woke up around 0530hrs WC’d and put the water heater on. Nodded off again and around 0745hrs I rose and set-about getting the stuff ready for the hospital visit.
Used me new ‘Boots’ £29.99 Blood Pressure Monitor for the first time this morning.
Recorded the results that were:
Syst: 139 Dia: 67 Pulse: 78
I’ll have to find out if this is expected and normal – not that much can be considered normal abut me I’m sure. Hehe!
Made in China I noticed.
I’ll look it up after doing this diary if I don’t fall asleep first that is.
Got myself spit and polished and set off on me walk into town.
Hot today, sunny too.
Took a photo at Gregory Boulevard Junction, but it came out a bit shaky… Tsk!
Pressed on into town, having to avoid another pavement cyclist on the way up the hill.
As I was hobbling passed the newly renovated houses that had been advertised as:
A unique opportunity to acquire a beautifully refurbished grade II listed Victorian town-house just five minutes walk from Nottingham City Centre.
The spacious accommodation comprises of a spacious lounge, a modern open plan kitchen/dining room having built in appliances which include gas hob, double oven, cooker hood, dishwasher, american style fridge freezer and microwave, utility/guest cloakroom to the ground floor.
The property boasts four double bedrooms over two floors, the master with a luxury en-suite shower room, a generous sized family bathroom and an extensive basement/cellar having the potential to convert into further accommodation.
There is a lawned garden to the front and off street parking to the rear. Must be viewed!
Offers above £280,000 considered.
Has been bought by someone who has opened it as ‘Mama’s Inn’ – Boutique Guest House. What’s a ’boutique guest house’ I wondered? A posh bed and breakfast? I also wondered how much they have to charge to get their money back?
Onward up the traffic was accumulating.
Over the top and down into the City Centre, I called into a shop and some extra bits of nibbles for the nurses to add to me bits in me bag I had already for them.
Caught a bus out to the Queens Medical Centre, thinking about our Jane going for her results today – said she’d let me know how things went later. Crossed fingers.
Arrived at the QMC and noticed a patient outside smoking one of those new electric cigarettes. At least the weather was nice for him.
As I moved across to the entrance door – the old smokers corner was still in use on the front corner. Comical in some ways to see several people, some with drips attached, all in their wheel-chairs and the smoke rising above them as they chuffed away and had a natter.
I should have thought of a post on this I thought – but with me being so very busy lately me concentration has gone to pot.
A good few in the waiting area when I arrived at the haematology department.
As I got me ticket and sat down I said to the lady sat next to me – “Good morning” that’s all, just good morning – she tutted picked up her things and moved to the back and another seat?
Oh dear…
Got seen too after only about half an hour – no time for a natter with the nurses today, they were too busy.
Went up to the 4th floor for me results from the scan last week – straight in to see the Doc – all clear on the prostate front.
Out and caught the bus back into town where I had a poddle about for a bit, taking a photo of some bling for the TFZ gals.
Noticed these Asian ladies showing an interest in the ‘Bling’ in the Pawnbrokers window. The shop is near premises that include: An American Ladies Nail shop, a French Restaurant, Chinese herbalist, Japanese Nails shop, Jewish Jewellery shop, Italian Restaurant, Halal take-away food shop, and a closed down English cafe. Never let anyone tell you that Nottnigham isn’t doing its bit for multiculturalism. I like it.
Had a walk through Trinity Square back to the bus-stop.
Noticed the World Buffet place that sells all sorts of food from all over the world.
I think one day I’d like to try it and went over to have a closer look – the prices frit me a bit!
Caught the bus home, as it stopped near the BBC building being demolished there was little left for the mechanical triffids to pull down.
Dropping off the bus in Carrington – there was a motley collection apprentice villains sat and stood around drinking on the seats in the twitchel, so I took the long route back to the hovel to avoid them.
Fed the pigeons en-route.
Got in WD’d and wondered about how Jane had gone on today at her hospital visit?.
Must also remember Friday I’m going with Pete for the removal of his infected mole.
So busy…
Made a nosh of ham sandwiches, banana, pork pie, cheese pasty, cooked beetroot, franks and medications. I forgot to get some tomatoes when I was out. Fancy that Me? Forgetting? Hehe!
Couldn’t eat it all. Tsk!
Fell asleep after eating what I could – and was awoken by the mobile ringing – by the time I’d found it I’d missed the call.
It was from sister Jane so I rang back nervously anticipated the conversation about to take place…
Great News!
Jane is okay – the growth in her innards is benign!
I could have cried with joy. (I did, but I’m not telling anyone about it so please don’t tell anyone!)
So, with Pete on Friday to get sorted, then Inchcock in a fortnight or so with his skin cancer tests.
Might just sleep in for all of tomorrow hehehe! Oh no, me GUM clinic checks, no rest fer the wicked. Tut and Tsk!
I’m so glad the pain in the bum was not another growth and only a boil.
Now good news about Jane has arrived I might be able to concentrate a bit better? Or not… hehe!
Didn’t get to sleep until around 0300hrs – waking up around 0715hrs to use the WC and brother-in-law Pete rang me.
Sister Jane is coping a bit better with waiting to hear the results of her tests about her cancer.
I feel worse and more uncomfortable for her than when I was diagnosed with it and the heart operation – I will spend more time talking to her and trying to comfort her. Pete has his own problems but is coping well fairly well.
A worrying time this, having others suffer is harder than suffering myself.
Sky this morning
Went down and made a nice cuppa – those flipping stairs don’t get any easier to manipulate (If that’s the right word?).
Took a photo of the sky from window on me way down. It look brighter than it seemed to me eye.
Laptop on and took me medications.
Posted off yesterdays diddy-diary.
Did some Facebooking then got up and readied missen for a walk into town – might go via the Arboretum today, take some meal-worms for the ducks? No… I’ll feed t’pigeons in town instead.
Fatima and Frederick breakfasting
Got missen scrubbed up.
As I left the crumbling abode Fatima and Frederick came down for their breakfast and I duly obliged them.
Set off down through the yobbo-free twitchell and onto Mansfield Road and started me slog into Nottingham City Centre.
As I passed by the Junction with Hucknall Road, for some reason looking at the old Grosvenor Eatery/pub I was overcome with sentimental memories and nostalgia.
The Grosvenor – many happy memories from my younger, fitter, healthier, richer, youthful, happier, contented, alcoholic, social and womanising days…
I pondered on the memories as I walked on.
Faces of young ladies came into me mind and the incidents of embarrassment that I suffered in me stumbling attempts at romance back in the days of hope, expectations and determination.
Tsk!
I missed the first two pavement cyclists and glad to report they missed me. Grrr!
The third Pavement Cyclist of the day
On towards the hill and yet another pavement Cyclist attacked me – saw him coming this one so had time to get me camera out.
On past the college traffic islands and up the (Ever getting steeper) hill, through the traffice light junction and down the hill into town.
As I approached the Woodborough Road junction I thought I’d pop in the Victoria Shopping Centre and get some ‘Bling’ photo’s for the TFZ gals.
Fourth and fifth Pavement Cyclists of the day here…
Another two Pavement Cyclist went passed me here.
Huh!
I walked through the bus station to the entrance to the mall – they were locked and the centre closed-down.
Realised then it was Easter like yer know?
What a sill boy I am!
I poddled back down towards the frontage and Mansfield Road, as I crossed the off road to the Car Park entrance entrance – there lying on the floor in the gutter was a piece of jewellery twinkling away!
A piece of heavy ‘Bling’ found in the gutter by Inchcock – photo’d and taken to the Police Station!
I photographed in in me arthritic hand.
It was very heavy and solid, much heavier that I expected it to be.
Were they real diamonds? They looked it to me, but then again, I’ve never seen a real diamond in me life.
And what was the ruby-like ball in the centre? centre?
I made me way to the Central Police station and handed it in at the desk, just in case it a genuine gem that some poor devil had lost.
The not filled in Property Found Form
The body language of the assistantess who took it was not good – I felt guilty disturbing her really.
She filled in a report between yawns.
No signature appended or dates written on it.
She muttered “Come back in a month or so to see if it’s been claimed then…”
Victoria Mall – All closed for the fitting of a new escalator and Easter Day
I thanked her weakly with an Inchcock sneer of contempt on me face and then walked back towards the Vic Centre and entered through the Mansfield Road opening.
All closed up of course.
I hobbled through and out the back and down around to Upper parliament Street.
I spotted in one of the Victoria Centre posh shops window a display of good that I thought were rather pathetic – and yet they seem to be popular with the kids today?
Crap display here?
The shop has only been opened a few months and on my passing there always seems to be plenty of young shoplifters in the place – oh I meant young shoppers.
I think?
I ambled over to Trinity Square where I thought I might get some ‘Bling’ photographs for the TFZ gals – but of course the shops were closed for Easter Sunday.
All closed today
When I noticed the time. I realised how slow I had been hobbling along today.
I’ll time myself tomorrow on me walk to the hospital for me INR Warfarin tests to see how I’m doing in the hobbling staked I think.
My record set 15 months of so ago, is one hour 25 minutes for the walk from Carrington to the QMC haematology dept.
Last time I timed missen it was one hour 55 minutes.
I caught a bus back to Carrington, walked through the yobbo-free twitchell, taking a photo of the sky that had amazingly brightened up – but seconds later it returned to a gloomy nature?
I fed the pigeons as I progressed to the hoppit.
Got in and made use of the porcelain. A long job, had to wait a while and encourage the movement as I read my book for quite a while before any painful activity activated (Hehe).
Decided to have a beef slice, microwave seasoned new potatoes, garden peas and bread thin, followed by a small tub of ice-cream for me nosh.
And by gum I enjoyed it too!
Watched another DVD ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ episode.
Then the inevitable I suppose – I fell asleep.
Woke up a couple or so hours later – disorientated.
Took me evening medications a little late but still.
Laptop on and did this diary.
Still feeling tired and aching limbs, haemorrhoids painful, angina and arthritis not too bad at all though – reflux valve a bit naughty.
Yer know, with so many things to bother you, it’s good in a way, because it stops you getting bored with yer ailments dunnit? Hehehe.
I rang Sister Jane to see how she and Pete were. She seemed okay, but I could tell she was still worried! We agreed that after Wednesday, her visit for the test results we’d get together and have a proper chin-wag.
Did some Facebooking but fatigue and lack of concentration stopped me doing any graphics that I had intended – Coreldraw9 would probably have crashed anyway.
Mobile rang as I was nodding off – it was Big John. He’s going to the Papplewick Pumping Station tomorrow and wondered if I’d like to go with them – very nice thought that. But I told him it was me hospital day for the INR Warfarin level testing… BJ pointed out that it was Easter Monday and they do not make appointments surely? – I went down and checked me Anticoagulation Record Card – he was right, the appointment was for Wednesday this week! Whatta plonker I is! So I’m off out tomorrow afternoon now, Yippee!
Good job BJ rang else I’d have hobbled all the way there to find they were closed!
Made a cuppa while I was down – poured it, spilt it, burnt me ankle, swore, cleaned it up and returned to the laptop… Dear oh dear…
I didn’t nod off last night until gone 0400hrs this morning.
Woke at 0815hrs wide awake, made a cuppa and took me morning medications – a bit late like but still.
Me ailments seemed to be kinder to me this morning. Testimony to the effectiveness of the Pressure Relief Pillow?
Found the 50p book I got from the charity shop yesterday near me sleeping spot on the floor – so I assume I must have tried to read it last night when I couldn’t get to sleep – though perhaps not because a quick glance at the first page held no memories for me.
Not that that is anything unusual for me nowadays. Tsk!
Started this diary then did a bit of facebooking before getting myself ready for a walk into town on a ‘Bling Photo Search’ for the TFZ gals. (Managed to get two decent ones.)
The sky brightens up a bit on me hobble into Nottingham
Set off on me walk into Nottingham City Centre – a bit brighter now, the wind far less than yesterday thankfully.
On my hobble three pavement cyclists passed me before I’d gone 500 yards – but I couldn’t get me camera out in time to take a shot of them.
I was moving well this morning until I got passed Huntingdon Street and a dizzy got me – not very comfortable feeling but it dissipated in a few minutes I’m glad to say – must remember me GP visit next Tuesday about this problem. Left the hands shaking a bit this time, and the itching and aching started inside the upper arms again?
Pegasus At-Risk updated
Made me way to the Nottingham Central Police Station and mounted the steps outside, then the steps inside up to the desk/counter.
Where I took another look at the updating letter I’d received that needed filling in – then asked the lady at the counter to have a look see if I’d done it correctly or not.
All was okay and she posted it in her internal mail for me back to Pegasus.
How kind and patient she was – bless her cotton socks.
The old BBC building slowly disappearing now…
I had another nasty dizzy as I left the Police Station – bit worrying that one.
Over the road towards the Vic Centre and Tesco with the intention of getting some more of the special offer Burtons biscuits at £1 – to find they have gone back to £1.59… huh!
Still, I did get some Marmite crisps and cheesey seaweed that is rather a delicate flavour and is not on me list of banned foods yet.
Nibbles from Tesco today
Limped through Victoria centre shopping mall and on me way noticed that the ‘Boost’ franchise had once again got some customers at their stall – well one anyway.
Two staff working there today – things are looknig up for them methinks. I’ll have to try one myself one day – mind you, I didn’t look but I’ve been told they are very expensive?
A customer!
I took some ‘Bling’ photos en route for the TFZ gals to post on their site.
Kids at risk!
As I came out into the air I stood a while with another dizzy, not a bad one though – and took some photographs of the Nottingham pedestrians love of danger as they crossed the road against the lights with little interest at all in the safety of their kids.
I felt okay again and walked on over the crossing… with the pedestrian lights on
Danger Zone for the less mobile of us
green I’d like to add (Hehe) and down Clinton pedestrianised street – where I received many knocks with people banging into me as I did me best to avoid getting actually knocked off me feet!
The mobile phone user were out in number and I’m considering asking for them to be classified as a dangerous to health species?
Refuse lorry mounts the pavement in Nottingham’s Slab Square as I hobbled through it
Onward down to the Slab Square where I noticed a refuse lorry using the pavement.
Plenty of Nottinghomian’s about today.
I slipped some seeds to the pigeons.. I know I shouldn’t but when I see one injured I can’t help myself.
I hobbled through the walk to Marks and Spencer’s where I thought I’d see if they have any of the Marmite biscuits in stock – they didn’t.
Bin lorry seeking victims to crush…
Hey-ho!
As I came out of the store the same refuse lorry I saw earlier was now seeking pedestrians to crush outside Marks and Spencer’s, I assume he’s managed to miss those at the tram stop.
Feeling a bit tired now, I made my way back up to the slab square – just managing to avoid being clobbered by one of the City-Hire mobility scooters near McDonalds – a close thing this time – Tsk!
The Sky darkens…
The place seemed to have attracted more folk than usual.
The sky began to darken a tad as I walked passed the front of the Council House – and I noticed that there must be another wedding ‘do’ on, as taxis were dropping folk off near the steps… the steps that weary 69 year old disabled Nottingham folk get thrown off of by CPO’s when they try to shelter from the rain so as not to impede the ingress of those who have paid a fortune to get into the wedding… never mind.
Protector of the Rich… nice gal!
I spotted the same CPO doing the same duties on the steps and took a photo of her as protected the well off against any Nottingham citizens with the cheek to want to climb the steps and hinder the affluent in their… I’m getting carried away again, sorry.
I wobbled up King Street to the bus stop and managed to get a seat on a Carrington bus.
As I sat waiting for the bus to set-off, a kerfuffle was taking place outside a store on Parliament Street, but the windows were too dirty for me to get a photograph of the shoplifters removal from the store – Tut!
Dropped off the bus and checked the twitchle for yobboes – all clear, so cut through feeding the club-footed pigeon when he saw me and came down for a nibble.
Black bean feast… lovely!
In the hovel and WC’d.
Took me evening medications.
Made a microwaveable Iceland Chicken in Black bean sauce, putting a tin of garden peas in it and had it with some bread, a banana and a cuppa.
I have to say the flavour was gorgeous.
Fell asleep.
Woke after about 2 hours I woke and set about doing this post – and Coreldraw9 froze four times over the next four hours! I tried Serifplus after the first Coreldraw let down, but that crashed too.
It took me many hours to do this diary with having to force close and restart so many times – but it’s how things are – no one can help me just to get Coreldraw9 working properly. I’ve tried with all the laptops I’ve had. This is the most powerful one I’ve ever bought – and still the frustration remains.
Fed-up? Depressed? Me? Yes!
Did some Facebooking, set my reminder about Iceland delivery tomorrow and continued to involuntarily pass wind frequently, with obnoxious results. Tsk!
Didn’t get to sleep until around 0300hrs, woke about 0730hrs remembering dream I think I’d just had. Scribbled some notes down about it.
I moved and the haemorrhoids erupted. Oh dear…
Coronation Street. (Not really)
Made a cuppa and took photo’s of the rather wet weather this morning.
WC’d.
Took me medications and Laptop on.
Deciphered me notes about the morning dream wot I had:
I was with a party of people and we were in a restuarant with tiny sections and rooms on two foors to start with and I was treating them to a meal, I was walking up down and through the rooms serving extras if they wanted any – had my coat stolen whilst doing this – I did not recognise the ladies and gents but felt I did know them slightly, or of them. I think the restaurant was on a rusty old boat that kept going underneath bridges? One of the chaps nicked the potato off me plate and I didn’t want to make a fuss for some reason.
Found myself on a gangplank leaving the place with the other perhaps eight people and they all suddenly turned laughed and threw me off into the water.
I was court-marshalled with Tony Blair being on the panel and sentenced to selling Big-Issues outside Victoria shopping centre – where I found myself dressed as Winston Churchill and talking to Enoch Powell who was collecting for the Salvation Army and Sid James selling watches from under his coat when I passed wind and everything went blank?
Not my usual sort of dream that one.
The haemorrhoids were the worst of me pains this morning – indeed stayed the worst throughout the day – very uncomfortable.
Did some Facebooking and graphics on Coreldraw9 for a few hours.
Tended to me ablutions, teggies shave etc and got me things ready for a walk into Nottingham City Centre.
Dark and windy this morning
It was very windy this morning as I left the dump and took me customary shot of the sky above Carrington.
Not many folk about locally – but air of foreboding lingered for some reason – no idea why but I didn’t like it at all.
I plodded down through the jitty and onto Mansfied Road.
Crossed over and as I was walking passed the hotel opposite the Grovensor pub – three pavement cyclists of the younger trainee yobbo variety came towards me – what they shouted to accompany their two finger signs was lost in the noise of the traffic as they passed me by.
I’d just put the camera back in my pocket then a more senior pavement cyclist belted passed me from behind!
I pressed on up the hill and down into the City Centre – and blow me another Pavement cyclist nearly got me as he shot passed!
I poddled in through the Victoria Centre Mall top floor and spotted a window display using faceless models of kids?
Spotted a few others as I walked through in different shops.
Didn’t like them at all.
Then – shock. A first!
A Genuine original first!
The ‘Boost’ stall had a customer as I was passing over it – I kid you not! Honestly. I just knew that if kept looking and photographing each time I passed by I’d catch a customer there eventually.
The two members of staff do look a little shocked and confused do they not to you? Hehehe!
As I walked out and over the walk-over I took another photo of the happy contented Nottinghomian’s as they made their way to the benefit offices, pawnbrokers, stores to shoplift from, in search of victims to mug, the job-centres, pay-day loan sharks and a few of them to or from work.
I walked down from the walk-over and into Clinton Street. Tried to take a photo of the crowds and nothing happened! – Panic… had me new camera died a death?
Worried now, and decided to try and get a cheapo one from the Jessop Camera store that happened to be a few yards away.
I was pondering over the cheap end range and an assistant by the name of Soyo came to my assistance. Nice lad. Very patient with me hearing and understanding problems. There was one camera that was easy to use at only £69.99, a Fuji Finepix AX650. Not that I fully followed what the lad was telling me, but he said he’d do me a ‘Bundle deal’ as I was buying a Screen protector pack – Compact case – Sandisk Extreme 16GB – Was I? I thought?
I turned out I only had to pay £80.96 for the lot.
Soyo then had a look at my old camera for ten seconds, no idea what he did – but it was working again! Huh!
He then proceeded to show me how to delete photos from the camera on the camera (The old one) and I proceeded to feel a fool it was so easy. Tsk!
It’s the multi-task buttons that confuse me yer know.
The wind as getting worse as I poddled into town and called in Primark to see if they had any of the ‘Andy Caps’ back in stock – to me pleasant surprise they had two in stock at… only £3 each – so I snaffled em up a that price.
So now I’ve got a spare camera and two spare hats that fit! Luxury eh?
I saw that the Primark store were having a push to sell their sun-glasses off dead cheap.
So if anyone needs any sunglasses get yourself down to Primark in Nottingham where they are available from only £1 a pair! (Primark please send cash only in thanks and appreciation of my promoting of your products – thank you).
Looks like a face?
As I made me way up to the bus stop I slipped the pigeons some seed cunningly like.
This display in the pawnbrokers of Upper Pariament Street caught me eye as I poddled passed. All second hand but beautiful stones – no idea what they are though of course.
The Rose of England public house has now had all the buildings surrounding it that were part of the BBC headquarters in Nottingham demolished.
Poddled to the bus stop and caught a bus back to Carrington.
Got in and WC’d and treted me painful piles.
Made a cuppa and had some cheese-burgers.
Fell asleep.
Woke up (The wind howling) and took me medications and cleaned up and creamed the rear end again.
Did this diary off, it took ages as me concentration was not good for some reason.
Woke at 1205hrs – realised I’d not taken last nights medications dose – missing the Warfarin was bad, especially as my level is so low at the moment – Tsk!
It dawned that I’d not done yesterdays diary and set about correcting that – I’d fell asleep early last night and stayed asleep for hours. Feeling a tad confused now. Got INR tests at the hospital today, had yesterday’s diary to finish off first, then started this diary and I do not want to miss me League of Gentlemen posts again, mind racing.
Took me 4 hours but I got the post finished and posted.
Made a cuppa to celebrate and took me medications.
Also had a bag of vinegar biscuits and me last banana – have to go to Morrison’s after the hospital today and do another Marmite search.
Got a good wash and polished me head and the things ready for the hospital and set off on me marathon walk to the QMC.
The sky was not bad this morning and a tad brighter as I set-off on me marathon hobble to the Queens Medical Centre at 0715hrs – but as you’ll see in the photographicalisations wot I tooketh – the sky only got darker as the day went drew on.
Near the Mansfield Road college, I came across some Nottingham Street Art in the form of a giant Pizza I think box.
It had greasy stains on the box and some remnants of the fodder that had been within and some bits of discarded food decoratively scattered around.
Possibly the cause of the regurgitated food found a few hundred yards later…? It still gave off an aroma from the box – you now, like stewed rat that had gone off!
Down to Hucknall Road, onto Mansfield Road and along to the junction with Gregory Boulevard then right and then left down the Boulevard.
A pile of something or other regurgitated, had been left decoratively on the pavement near the school presumably last nights or even this mornings for the Nottingham Citizens to talk and walk over.
Unfortunately the photo I took of it didn’t come out well.
It looked to me like the pile was still bubbling and steaming?
I wondered if whoever had passed it was in good health this morning?
Passing the tram station for the Forest recreation ground and onward to the end of the Boulevard and over the traffic lights and up Radford Boulevard, where I espied blue lights a-flashing in the distance, and the traffic was well backed up.
So, instead of taking me usual route and turning right onto Hartley Road and going that way, I carried on so I could have a nosey at what the commotion was all about like.
Being a concerned citizen.
Whatever it was it was causing a backlog of traffic, cause usually around this time of the morning traffic ain’t this bad.
Someone was having their pride and joy removed by the Nottingham Parking Team, and three police officers and two CPO’s were in attendance as well – mind you, knowing the area that might have been a wise move for the protection of those attending and removing the car.
It was getting a little darker now as I turned right down Norwood Road then left down Forster Street.
To the end of the street and then right down the hill on Bramcote Street to join St Peters Street and then left onto Ilkeston Road and crossed over the lights.
My first encounter with a pavement cyclist took place on my way to Triumph Road – and it was a close one, the git came from behind so no chance of my hearing or seeing the little toe-rag before he made me jump as he sped passed me – he carried on belting it and was too quick for me get me camera out. I did call out to him… I said something like “Excuse me you naughty boy, you made me jump!”… Well not exactly those words of course. Not that it mattered he couldn’t hear me from that distance with the traffic that was now getting heavier by the minute trundling by.
I was irked I can tell you… irked I was!
Plodded on and over the bridge and left down Triumph Road where the many many new college buildings are located.
By the time I’d gotten a few hundred – another git on a bike came at me from the front this time so I whipped out me Canon turned called out questioning his parentage and took a photo.
Now not only was I irked but feeling ratty too! – Thus, when a Porsche type shaped car turned onto a drive into one of the college building without even slowing down as I walked across the entrance – I followed the car into the car park and had a little word with the driver – About 26, 6’2″ and fit looking he were, but me gander was up now and fear didn’t raise its head:
“Well done ###t!” I says.
“What” (In a posh voice) he replies.
“You didn’t even see me did you?”
A look of contempt came over his face and he ignored me completely and started to walk towards the units entrance, with a sneer for me now too!
“I called “Oi, ##ck breath, I’m talking to you… I’ve got a copy of the Highway code in me bag yer can ‘ave…”
He’d gone and I fumed silently for a few moments – then realised I’d attracted the attention of the many students on there way to the college, and two securty men arrived and spoketh to me.
One of them said they’d been sent out by the git in the sports car to remove me from the premises?
Anyway, they were all right about it and I got the feeling they did not like the git particularly. we moved back onto the road pavement and had a little natter and laugh – the things they told me about him, not his name like but his attitude to them and others. Also that he was being made redundant and it was his last day in the job in the IT department – I actually felt a bit guilty and sorry for him then.
But it still cheered up a bit and I carried on to the end of Triumph Road, turned right there and hobbled to the hospital entrance where I was taking me usual photo of the frontage when the third pavement cyclist flew passed me! Tsk and Tut!
0915hrs I arrived. So that means it took me a bit longer than usual to get there on me walk – thinking about it though, an hour and ten minutes wasn’t too bad considering the hassle I’d had en route?
There were a few patients waiting so I got a free copy of the Metro newspaper, me queue ticket and patiently awaited me number to be called.
The nurses were in a good mood and appreciated the nibbles I gave them, in fact they all tried to get the bag of off of me first – so as to get first pick methinks? Hehe!
By the time I was finished and out, the time for me using me free bus-pass was gone, so I caught a bus into town.
As the bus was getting into the City Centre I espied a chap walking up Goosegate playing his guitar and singing. I took a photo of him trough the bus window – that’s why its a bit shaky I think.
The bus eventually got the 800yrds from that spot onto Upper Parliament Street and the City Centre terminus. They are doing some roadworks of some kind with barriers all over the place and this is causing pandemonium with the buses, as normally there would be room for two buses to park at each stop – now there is hardly enough room for one to park.
I caught another bus out to Morrison’s at Gamston.
Primarily to see if they had any Marmite biscuits in stock.
The trip out took about 25 minutes, more than enough time for me to fall asleep despite the bus being rather full. Huh!
Luckily I awoke before we arrived at the superstore – amazed at how I managed to stay in the seat during me trip into slumber?
It was getting darker still now as I approached the entrance to Morrison’s.
I had a wander around, found some Marmite crisps that were £1.40 for a pack of 6 bags – niggling that, yesterday I got some from Tesco and cost £1.90! Shackleramblast!
I got some bread thins cause they were cheaper than Tesco as well by 25p, a pack of cheese and pickle mini pork pies and a bag of wonderfully full flavoured Thompson’s Punjana tea bags.
A blend of Indian and Nigerian tea that is almost perfect – and they were on offer at £1.59 instead of £2.25.
But they didn’t have any Marmite biscuits. Huh!
I got the bus back into Nottingham City Centre, all praise and bless me free bus-pass.
I dropped off the bus and went up the walk-over into the Victoria Centre and took a photo of the bus mayhem on Upper Parliament Street… and the Nottinghomians crossing the lights against them again.
I walked through Vic Centre and down to the ground level taking a photo of the ‘Boost’ fresh fruit drink stall from above again – still no actual customer when I took the photograph, but I’m sure that if I live long enough, one day when I go through they will have a customer to serve I can take a photograph of – that is if they do not go bankrupt first like.
I meandered into the HMV shop to see if they had any new editions Law and Order UK in yet, but they had not. Just as well really the amount of spending I’m doing – Huh!
Walked to the end passed Tesco and out near where they are demolishing the BBC building. Today they had giant machines with claw-like grabbers tearing down the concrete floors of the old building – I thought when I pass on the bus I could get a better photo of them and I remembered when I eventually got the bus too, as well and besides!
On my way to catch the bus back to Carrington, I took a photo of some ‘Bling’ from a jewellery store window shop in Kings Walk of Trinity Square.
I’ve no idea what the gemstones were in these rings, but they looked gorgeous to me.
Just so you know, the prices were very high, I think each ring or piece cost thousands of pounds.
Green? would that be jade then or not?
I dropped off the bus in Carrington and the walk-through from the Co-op was free of any lurking yobboes this afternoon I’m glad to say.
Fatima and Fred brought the family down to get some extra rations as I walked into me road.
Feeling weary now, but not too bad considering the walking I’ve managed to get in today.
Laptop on, made a flask of tea and got on with finishing this diary.
I hope to stay awake long enough to take me evening medications tonight and me beef pasty slice and frankfurter.
I can feel the eyelids drooping again now – so I’ll finish here and get me nosh and medications taken.
TTFN all, hope to see you ll tomorrow. (Well yer never know! Hehe!)
Bad night for kip again – woke up and nodded off again, normally I’m up and about straight away?
I tried the porcelain hoping for a movement without any luck
Went down and put kettle on and popped out into the gloomy (Again) morning to take me daily piccy of the sky.
I made a flask of tea and a pot of porridge and took it with me to the laptop and started it up.
I was concerned the porridge might make the lack of any movements worse – but I ate it all the same.
Minutes later a call to the porcelain proved to be a success despite having eaten the porridge.
I pondered on how me ailments felt this morning up to now:
No dizzies yet. The ulcer was as good as gold, the reflux valve not sticking, Arthur Itis and Anne Gyna not bad at all but the torn muscle was still painful, but today only when I bent or lifted anything heavy.
A better start medically speaking I thought – then remembered the other day starting like this… Mmm!
Decided to risk a little hobble later, perhaps to town then get a bus to Morrisons to treat myself to some Marmite Crisps? – who knows, the world is my oyster… Do you like me header for this page folks – Marmite Mad I am.
They make more things than you’d imagine.
Although I have me doubts about the toothpaste? (See header)
Got myself readied and spick and span and set off with me bus-pass, umbrella, medications and bird seed for a walk into town – still undecided where to go yet.
Set off feeding Fatima and Fred who followed my down to Mansfield Road.
The sky looked bright, but not much sun was getting through.
I poddled on my walk into Nottingham City Centre.
I foolishly rang Sister Jane and Pete en route – the traffic increased as soon as we were connected and the whole conversation was a farce – I couldn’t hear Pete, Pete couldn’t hear me.
As soon I gave up and stopped the call the traffic disappeared.
I carried on down the hill into the City and found it busier that I expected.
I went to try and catch the bus out to Netherfield and the Morrisons store in search of any Marmite infested products they may have on sale.
On arrival at the bus stop I perused the time-table to find that the buses were only every hour for today. Not good that I thought.
I decided to not bother with Morrisons today, and walked over the road into the Victoria Centre and through to the other end to visit the Tesco Metro on me mission for Marmite instead.
I called in the DVD shop en route and had a gander but nothing appealed at all.
As I plodded on I noticed a store window that was displaying children’s stuff with models without heads? What with seeing the jeans without torsos yesterday I wondered why these displays had grown in popularity with the the retailers?
Mind you, I liked the styles of the togs on sale.
I got into Tesco and had a good hunt around – found some Marmite Crisps and Salt & Vinegar baked biscuits and other bits and spent a fortune £17!
Had a dizzy spell as I left the store – not a bad one, but none of them are good – must get to see Dr Vindla about these soon.
I stood for a while and recovered in moments this time, so that was good.
Out into the fresh air and I fed the pigeons near the demolition of the old Radio BBC building.
So many of the pigeons have damaged legs and claws. That’s because of the wires and electrified obstacles they have all over the buildings in an effort to stop them from landing on or roosting on their buildings and unthinkingly crapping all over the concrete I think.
The demolition people seem to be getting a move on with the buildings destruction now.
I wondered what plans they might have for the site in the future?
Surely we do not need more shops or student accommodation?
If they put as much effort into housing ordinary people as they do to housing students the problems would… mind you I suppose with the decline of industry in Nottingham, Education is bringing in the money instead?
I don’t know.
I wondered down into town again and my keen observationalistic nature noted the Nottingham citizenry crossing the road against the traffic lights continues unabated.
An argument near the Pound World shop between two families was raging, with threats bad language and not good body signs in abundance.
I crossed the road and removed myself form the firing line.
As I walked to me bus-stop to get home the window of the jewellery store there had a display Rolex watches of which used a cage with stuffed parrots or cockatiels in the display.
Original that I thought.
I got the bus back to Carrington enoying another dizzy as I got off the bus. Sat on a bench for a few minutes and was soon alright again, then continued back to the flea-pit.
Put me things away, made a meal of Beef slice and cheesey potatoes, followed by a bag of Marmite crisps then a lolly.
I fell asleep, waking up at gone midnight… Missed me evening medicines dose. Tsk!
Woke in agony from the torn muscle – very disappointed with that, I thought it was improving too. Huh!
I suppose I must have sneezed or turned badly in me slumber?
No passings – on the porcelain yet despite two attempts, not passed for a day and a half up to now.
I went down and made a cup of tea then took me medications.
Popped out and took a photo of the sky in front of the hovel – very gloomy – just like me at the moment! Hehe!
Started this diary and then did me ablutions and applied me creams lotions and pain gel.
Not feeling too good, but decided to risk a little walk into town only, where I can get back sharpish in the event of any dizzies or worse.
The arthritis, haemorrhoids and ulcer all seem calmish, the angina and pulled muscle were competing to see which could give me the most discomfort.
Did a bit of graphicationalisationing for the TFZ on Facebook.
Not one of me best efforts I’m afraid.
Got myself titivated and prettified (What a challenge that was!).
Assembled the bits for the Nottingham Hospice Charity shop and set off on me walk to Sherwood.
The sky still looking a tad sad as I hobbled over the hill towards Sherwood – and noticed that there were few folk about for a Saturday.
A bit further on I came across some Nottingham Street Art in the form of a musical instrument box laid open (presumably it held a Clarinet or whichever instrument it held before being stolen and dumped).
Artfully displayed between a lamppost and a telegraph pole, laying open as a plea for humanity to be kinder to musical instruments and for the crooked elements of society to stop nicking stuff?
Hobbled on to the Charity shop and left me bits for them and then I caught the bus into town.
I wandered up through Trinity Square and took this photographicalisation of the row with food retailers with outside ‘have a fag chairs’ on their frontages – it was gone 1100hrs but many of them had not yet put out their chairs and seats – mind you, with so few more-money-than-sense Nottinghomians about, I couldn’t fault them.
I caught me reflection in a window of a shop (Scary that I can tell yers!).
I looked old, welmish and disabled. Having said that I am old, welmish and disabled and wondered why it should have shocked me so. Hey-ho!
I was looking for a window with ‘Bling’ on display to take a photo of it for the TFZ gals when I wondered down Trinity Walk and as I was zooming in on the ‘Bling’ a lady appeared.
I considered momentarily popping in and asking how much they wanted for her… not really!
I wandered down into the slab square where I intended to catch the tram to Bulwell to see if Fultons Foods had acquired any of me blackcurrant ice-cream lollies for me to purchase.
The Nottingham Post newspaper stall I just had to take a photograph of:
Murders, rapes, muggings, burglaries, unemployment, car crimes, benefit cheats etc were the things I expected to see as the headlines. What was the top and first headlines? “4 Free Toilet Rolls with your Nottingham Post!”
Made me think that did!
The slab square fountains for the kids had attracted one 20ish year old chap who couldn’t resist paddling through it fully clothed.
The market stalls were open again but few people were attending. Not surprising really, they were not offering anything different or any better value then anywhere else, dearer if anything – but the Nottingham Council has to raise money from somewhere for the benefits to be paid yer know.
I hobbled to the tram stop at the rear of this fountain photograph.
Arthur Itis and the haemorrhoids were being kind to me at this point.
Anne Gyna and the pulled muscle were making their presence known though Huh!
I remembered to swipe me free pensioners bus pass card at the station before getting on the tram.
Not many folk on it today, I had a look around and noticed that of the eight passengers on board, two were not on mobile phones… and one of them was me!
The tram soon filled up with noisy Nottinghamian’s.
When it arrived in Bulwell I nearly got caught in the rush of folk to get off urgently. No idea why, but they all disappeared rapidly once they did get off?
Surreal it were… hypnagogic!
I walked to and through the Bulwell Market – such a sad sight nowadays.
First port of call was Fultons Foods in search and hopes of getting some blackcurrant ice-cream lollies – no such luck. Tsk!
They did however have some ‘Hunters sausages’ at the ridiculously low price of 89p for a pack of 4 ready cooked ones. So I got myself a pack, and it was in-date too.
There were so many mobility scooters about it scared me a tad. I rested a while and watched them on and around the market – it’s amazing how they all managed to avoid hitting any one.
I made my way to the bus station and caught a bus back to Carrington.
En-route the sun did its best to break through the gloomy clouds and I took a picture of it through the bus window.
Beginning to get bother from the rear end now – but I think the Angina was easing – so swings and roundabouts yer know?
Dropped off the bus on Hucknall Road and limped down to the hovel, feeding the pigeons en-route like.
WC’d – Success on the movement department! Hurrah!
I made up me meal, Hunters Sausages, two baked potatoes, beetroot and garden peas… oh and a bit of pork pie with the crust removed – not the jelly of course I loved that. Hehehe!
Watched a DVD while I consumed me nosh…
Then fell asleep.
Woke just in time to take me evening medications.
Had a drink out of the flask (Tea!) and downloaded photographs and resized them and did this diary.
I phoned sister Jane to ascertain her and Pete’s health, and it was not too good for either of them, but they are still leading a good social life and that’s good for them. Not wanting to risk mixing our ailments it is frustrating not being able to see them.
I actually got some decent sleep in last night – and remembered some of the dreams too! (Still feel tired mind you).
Dream recollections:
I was doing my best to pull someone out from a quagmire in the dark of night – voices singing and music in the background as if it were in a film – the rain and lighting started – someone at the top of the ditch was urging me on to free and pass the bloke in the mud up to them – I shouted out that if they helped me it would be easier… they explained that they were not insured to get mud on their hands – I apologised.
Next moment I was in an operating theatre operating on George Osborne with Clive Danton the anaesthetist who kept breathing in from the mask and was merrily drunk on it, I attended to him as Osborne bled to death but would not die if you know what I mean… eventually I sobered Clivey up and we returned our attentions to Osborne… That’s all I can recall?
Thinking about it, perhaps the quagmire was a grave?
0400hrs: I arose painfully (Angina, torn muscle and haemorrhoids) and tended to the porcelain duties as demanded.
The pulled muscle in the ribs seemed less painful that of recent I’m glad to say.
Made a cuppa.
Started laptop (message about power supply box being too weak again).
Took me morning medications with another cuppa. Hoping to get out to Derby this morning for a wander around and a photographicalisationing session, so must cut down on the liquid intake.
Creating the header for this page and Coreldraw9 froze again – Tsk!
Part way down Mansfield Road on me way into Nottingham
Did me ablutionising and got ready for me walk to town and bus out to Derby.
Set off on me uneventful walk (hobble) into the City enter with few folks around although the odd bus that passed me by seemed well loaded with Nottinghomian shoplifters, pickpockets and other citizenry on there way to town.
Made me way to the Victoria bus-station and got on a Red Arrow Express bus into Derby.
I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again – ‘I do love me free pensioners bus-pass! Oh yes…
I love me free pensioners bus-pass – oh yes!
Caught a Red Arrow bus – using me pensioners free bus-pass of course. It was quiete full considering there were not many people about on me hobble into town.
I enjoyed the none-stop ride and sun was a shining and nobody on the bus was swearing, then again it wasn’t a Nottingham City Transport bus so, and me hearing aids were playing up with me forgetting to de-wax them earlier, Huh!
They like the seeds and meal-worms
On arrival in Derby I wandered over to the river Derwent, only 200 yards or so from the back of the bus-station and fed the mallards and hundreds (It seemed) of pigeons.
Bless em.
I took two photos in between throwing them sufficient seed and meal-worms to keep them busy while I got me camera out.
Can you spot the mystery bird?
On the second shot which I thought was a decent one – there seems to be an unidentified bird that is perched on the bollard far left at the back? Is it a baby heron perhaps?
It showed no interest in the bread seed or meal-worms?
Or is it a white pigeon?
I wandered, avoiding a couple of mobility scooters on and over the road up to the Eagle Shopping Centre.
Called in the 99p shop to replenish me used pigeons seed stocks, but they had none in. So I walked on to the Pound Shop for some – and they had none in either?
Wandered around a while aimlessly (I’m quite adept at doing this nowadays).
Walked through the market – how terribly sad it looks today – so many closed down units.
This photo warmed the cockles of my heart – can you see why?
But the picture I took inside actually cheered me up a bit when I got to look at it later.
I noticed the old lady and gent walking down towards the exit doors and they were holding hands – nice that I thought, so nice.
Even if they were only holding hands to help each other avoid falling over it brought a warm glow to me.
Soft? Me? – yes… yer right!
Wigs and noses combinations in Derby shop window?
I walked back through the centre taking a different route to another exit and came across a shop that catered for parties fancy dress that sort of thing – and in the window I espied these er… things.
Wigs with noses?
I think they might represent some TV characters of today?
The shop was certainly busier than many others so they must have hit the button with what todays ankle-snappers are into.
Ladies watches at £5 each in Derby’s Intu Eagle Centre
I spotted a stall selling cheapo watches – £5 each and took a photo of some of the ladies ones to post for the TFZ gals. I was impressed with the choices on sale – I wonder where they were made at that price? Mind you – do they work? Hehe.
The angina was beginning to play up now so I hobbled towards the exit doors and out into the street – and Whoopsidangleplop!
I caught the edge of the pavement wrong and fell into a chair outside a cafe catching me torn muscle ribs. Oh the pain!
I can only blame myself cause I was trying to rush to get to the toilets in the bus station as I’d just passed wind and felt the warm blood… Tsk!
After a little swearing and someone asking if I alright, I thanked them and made me way yo the toilets – of course I hadn’t got a 20p piece on me – so called in the shop in the bus-station and bought a bar of chocolate or something and got myself back to the WCs post haste – luckily I had what was required to tend to the bleeding in my bag – I usually carry a kit just in case.
A Y5 leaves Derby bus-station
All refreshed and not feeling any pain from the haemorrhoids at all, thanks to the extreme overpowering pain from me ribs (Everything has an upside don’t it hehe!).
I caught a bus back to Nottingham that took the long route through the villages and enjoyed the journey.
St Michaels Church Borrowash
In Borrowash as the bus stopped I got a decent picture of St Michaels Church.
This is where a feller carrying a folding bike got on and walked to the back of the bus to find a seat. Then twenty seconds later got up rang the bell and got off at the next stop?
I must have nodded off three times after this and luckily woke as the bus was emptying at its destination, Friar Lane in Nottingham.
I popped into the Poundland shop and they had some bird-seed in, but could only risk carrying one bag so as not to irritate the torn muscle in me ribs (Again).
I walked through the slab-square and up King Street called in the public WC and then on to the bus-stop for a Carrington bus. I managed to stay awake on this short journey, the ribs still painful.
Fatima and Fred greeted my return to the flea-pit
Got off the bus and called in the Co-op for some bread thins. Being as I could not find any in Derby.
Got back to the flea-pit and Fatima and Fred came down to be fed.
I put a load of unsolicited mail into the bin.
I don’t know why, but I took a photograph of the sky from outside the front door.
Mind you, it did look pretty, and I appreciated the lack of yobs in it too.
I made a flask up and got started on this diary.
Coreldraw9 didn’t let me down this time, but Serif Draw x6 froze.
Tsk!
After I’d tended to me rear problems then applied some extra pain-gel to me ribs, I did a bit of Facebooking.
Beefburgers on bread thins tonight methinks.
Took me evening medications with one extra painkiller and put some smooth jazz on to listen to through me headphones while on the laptop.
The pain from the damaged muscle under the ribs are now making it difficult to get to sleep. Tut!
What a night – agony every time I moved I was woken up with the pain from me damaged rib-muscles.
I know I dreamt again but remembered no details. (Annoying that)
Lay for a moment thinking of what tasks I had ahead of me for the day: INR Warfarin level tests – I’ll walk into town timing it so I can catch a bus from there to the hospital around 0930hrs. I decided against any other plans being laid cause I might not be very mobile with the ailments and the new pulled muscle… see how I go.
Took me medications and started laptop to begin this diary – got the message about the power supply not being powerful enough again, pressed F1 and loaded – very slow starting this morning, me and the laptop! Hehe.
Windy again this morning. So went down to make a cuppa and pot of porridge with lemon honey in it. Tasty!
Getting myself up was a bit painful in the ribs and knees – oh dear!
Did some Facebooking but Coreldraw9 would not let me do any graphicalisationing Boo!
Cut me toe nails which was agony and I should have left it really.
Got the nibbles ready for the nurses and paperwork required, made sure I’d got me bus-pass, mobile, camera and some cash.
Did me teggies, shaved, washed me tootsies applied me creams and lotions, splashed me Brute all over (Remember Henry Cooper?) put me togs on and set off on me walk into Nottingham.
The sky was wonderful to look at as I walked down to Mansfield Road.
The mothers were taking their apprentice anti-social neonate ankle-biters to the local priso… school.
I noticed the new Retirement flat complex have started shutting and locking their gates – a very wise move I thought! And they have done a good job of removing the graffiti too!
Onwards a plodded and at the junction near the Forest site island the traffic was at a standstill – but the horns and honkers were very active as the morning Nottingham commuters communicated with each other with hand signals not from the Highway Code and various gesticulation between themselves. I was actually glad I could no longer drive.
You can see on this photograph on the right, the wind was a problem for the pedestrians as it nearly blows the two coming towards me into a driveway.
I was doing well mobility-wise and got into the City with time to spare to catch a bus out to the Queens Medical Centre Haematology Dep’t.
So I wandered through the Victoria Centre Mall, up to the second floor right through coming out on the walk-over, where I couldn’t resist taking a photo of the Nottinghomian’s care-free disinterested habit of crossing the road against the lights again.
No shortages of buses this morning.
Walked down passing the gooey yellow regurgitated (Indian I think, but I didn’t stop to study it like) and green sick on the stairs down to ground level and crossed over (With the pedestrian lights on ‘Walk’ green of course) and caught a bus to the QMC.
Throughout the entire journey one woman was talking on her mobile – I hope hope she enjoys the Chicken Risotto that Glenda is making for her tonight when she gets back from Bingo and collects the kids from ‘Nans’.
Dropped off on Derby Road and started to walk into the QMC site when once and yet again I heard the klaxons of a fire tender as it struggled to get through the queue of cars for the car park – quickly followed by another.
A fire-alarm yet again at the hospital.
I wonder if they charge the NHS for false alarms? Cause this year I’ve been there as an outpatient on at least eight occasions when the alarm was activated or activating- just a thought like.
I entered past the smoke covered patients fag area and into the haematology department, picking up a free Metro newspaper on the way.
Filled in me Anticoagulation form details and was soon called in to be tended to by a buxom blonde haired dimpled 5’4″ gorgeous thick legged cougar of a nurse who welcomed me like a son… well…
Managed time for a little natter, gave her the nibbles and was soon back out over the road and catching a bus to Bulwell to see if Fulton Foods had got me blackcurrant lollies back in stock yet.
Had a good read of the paper en-route and dropped of in Bulwell bus station opposite the River Leen to feed me mallards, there was not many about again.
Found a few near the old pillory stocks that were used many years ago by the Nottingham Constabulary.
Can’t understand why they don’t use these stocks nowadays for mad mobility scooter drivers and pavement cyclists?
Walked over and through the rather sad Bulwell Market along to Fultons – but no lollies again. They did have some short date Walkers Worcester Sauce flavoured crisps 6 packs at only 59p so I got one.
By now the arthritis and me ribs were really getting bad, so I made me way back to the bus-station and got one back to Carrington.
Two rather loud teenage girls were nattering and I have to ask for some help with understanding two of the things they came out with please.
1) “Tope?” – They all agreed the whoever it was they were talking about was Tope?
2) “Home skillet” (That’s what is sounded like no idea how it should be spelt?).
Beats me.
Dropped off in Carrington.
Again the sky looked a picture and on this road there was no one around at all?
This confused me for a moment – then I realised the school on the corner was about to release its inmates, hence all the worried parents waiting in their cars?
I made myself scarce and made for the flea-pit.
I fed the pigeon in a clandestine manner got in and WC’d, put pain gel on me ribs knees and ankles and risked taking an extra pain-killer cause the ribs like yesterday seemed to be getting more painful with every little bend stretch cough belch or movement.
Mad a cuppa and a flask of tea and the laptop let me use Coreldraw9 so got on with doing this diary update.
Took me evening medications.
The torn Intercostal muscle ensured me getting little sleep again.
