Inchcock Today Frid 27th May 16: Laundry Room Farce, Met Deans and got the Nottingham Hospice things delivered.

04

Friday 27th May 2016

I didn’t stir for over six hours last night! Woke around 0545hrs with bits of the dream going around me head, but they soon dissipated into the ether, I hate it when that happens. Huh!

Remained in the second-hand mechanically dodgy £300 recliner that I’d nodded off in, for a while pondering the needs of the day.

I’d got to go see Deana about the shower installation, the laundry needed doing urgently – thanks to earlier bleeding from certain quarters of my anatomy causing the removal of bloodies articles of clothing, then I must… My deliberations were interrupted by an involuntary emission of the wind from the rear quarters causing concern that attention and sanitational needs may be required.

Soon as I lowered the chair to get to the bathroom and started to move, the left knee, in particular, suffered an acute attack from Arthur Itis! Still can’t complain, though, because he’s has been kind to me over the last few days.

No hiatus discovered when I got to the throne and checked things out in the lower regions. A tiny few specks of blood from Little Inchy, but nothing at all to concern myself about. No bleeding from Haem Aroid either.

I decided not to get the laptop on yet, cause I always get carried away and end up not doing other things that are urgently in need of attention due to my love of the internet. Had a quick cup of tasty tea and took the medications.

I got the two bags of dirty clothes ready and took one down to the laundry room. Got the washing machine one of the two machines. Back up to the flat to collect the coins I’d forgotten to take with me.

Back down to the laundry room and got it started.

Back up to the flat, and had a hunt around for any other things needing cleaning and put them in the second bag.

Then back down again and got the washing into the other machine also on quick mode, and removed the finished others out and into the dryer.

Back up to the flat, and did some work on the diary for yesterday and got it posted.

Back down to the laundry room, to find that the machine had finished washing, but had left the clothes very wet. Moved then into the other dryer, then took out the clothes from the first dryer.

Back up to the flat with them and stored them in the airing cupboard.

Back down after an hour to move the washing into the dryer, but they were still wet, so had to do another cycle in it to make sure they’d be safe to wear.

Back up to the flat, more WordPressing was done. Checked the emails.

Back down to the washing room… On the way, I couldn’t help but think how lucky I was that the lift hadn’t broken down this morning. Hehehe!

By now it was 0745hrs. I collected the now dry second load of rags (Haha!) from the dryer, and once again back up to the apartment (Fed up with writing flat).

Put this load of clobber in the airing cupboard. Started today’s diary off. And had a quick wash.

Thought about my having to sort out for the maintenance people for Tuesday. Have to move everything out of the bathroom and the hallway, into the bedroom, somehow.

I set about preparing the vegetables for cooking in my much loved and appreciated mini Crock-Pot. Planning to have the with a beef slice, or some sausages methinks?

Flavoured the swede, carrots, parsnips, red onions and mushroom with a pinch of BBQ seasoning, Asda/Walmart vegetable flavouring and vegetable paste. (Seems alright, tangy taste to it)

Boiled some small potatoes to add to it later. Nibbled a couple when they were done.

The left knee gave way when I was getting the things ready to go see if Deana was in the hut. Busy gal Deana our Flats Coordinatoress. Photo, on the right taken yesterday at the Social Hour when she popped in.

So I took the stick with me as I went down to the Windwood Hut to see if she was in.

The door was locked so I started to return to the flats and she came out of the door at the other end of the hut. Told her about the bathroom being changed. She said when they take out the WC, they have to replace it with another straight away.

Which reminded me of the state they left the kitchen vent in when they left, and I started to fret a bit. Hehe!

This photo was taken immediately after the workman left after coming to repair the problem!

Not encouraging is it?

I’m dreading the mess they’ll leave after the three or four days in the flat doing the shower conversion… oh dear!

Back yet again to the flat.

Got some more work done on graphics and WordPress.

The vegetable broth in the Crock-Pot was smelling something wonderful.

The left knee still giving me gip every time I moved now, Huh!

I got the things ready for the Nottingham Hospice Charity Shop. Left the Crock-Pot on low and walked up through Woodthorpe Grange Park, down out through onto Mansfield Road, then up and down into Sherwood. Did some window shopping on my way to the Hospice shop.

Blimey, the time is getting a move on, well into the afternoon already – what happened? (Oh yes, the laundry room farce, hehe!)

Did the ablutions and got ready and out and up the gravel footpath hill up into the park.

At the top, I almost had my breath taken away by the view of the beautiful array of greens with the flowers blooming in between.

Later, I doctored this by adding words and the red flowers, don’t know why I did mind, but it was so pleasant and fresh to look at.

The only sad bit was they had mowed the grass, killing thousands of buttercups, daisies and dandelions in the bargain.

I pressed on down the footpath through the park and stopped for a while to look at the dogs enjoying themselves, tails a-wagging.

The footpath was a tad darkened by the amazingly quick growth of the trees foliage.

To the Co-op store and had a wander around, getting tomatoes, veg crisps and a lemon cheesecake that fell into the basket. Ahem!

As I walked down the hill towards the Wilko store, I spotted that someone had parked on the pavement handily blocking the view of drivers approaching the pelican lights.

Tsk!

Got a nail brush from Wilko, then back up the hill to check if a bus was due at the top stop.

There was no need to check when I arrived, there because a few flat tenants were waiting for a bus. Sure enough, three minutes later an L8 bus arrived. It was driven by the lovely lady driver too, so no need to worry about getting thrown all over the place getting on or off.

A chinwag with fellow tenant Frank on the way in and up to the flat, where an urgent call of nature was answered hastily. Phew!

I put the pie in the oven and updated this entry.

The INR test results came, much better this time. 2.5, much closer to the target figure. I emailed the surgery requesting an appointment for next Wednesday as instructed.

A quick go on Facebook and the meal was ready.

A fine feast it was as well.

The veg mix was delicious, the tomatoes sweet, the potatoes excellent, the bacon crispy, the beef slice beefy and the lemon dessert so tasty! And I ate it without any bread with it!

Oh yes! Will-power yer see? I’ve always had this, a steely determination and unmoveable confidence.

Watched an old James Bond movie, ‘Live and let die’ – by gum they look dated nowadays, I’d forgotten how bad they were! Hehe!

Took ages to get to sleep again. Tsk!

Inchcock Today Thur 26 May 2016: Winwood Community Shed Social Hour, and confusing call from Nottingham City Homes Repairs

Thursday 26th May 2016

Inadequate sleep, many horrible, or one long dream. Woke around 0200hrs and tried to recall details, but couldn’t. All those embarrassing things, errors, misjudgements and the like had come into my mind and muddled up. In them, I was showing great celerity and physically prowess?

0300hrs: I started coughing and sneezing, but not due to Rea Flux, he was working okay, so I expect I’ve gotten a cold coming on. And cold I felt too, the instant I got out of the shuddering recliner chair to make a cuppa.

Into the kitchen, the thermometer reading 62f. So it wasn’t actually cold, just me who felt it? Made a cuppa, took the medications and did the BP tests. All looking okay to me: Sys 149 Dia 75 Pulse 85 Temp 63f.

The stomach started grinding, I wondered if the meal last night was the cause? Mild dizzies too. Couldn’t help going shivery every now and then, hard to concentrate. Old age I expect, for sure that’ll be it. Hehe!

I got the nibbles, photographs and books in the bag ready for the Winwood Shed Community Hour later.

The rumbling and grumbling innards were no better, so I took some Peptac and Morrisons Cough medicine. I’m not sure if they work together or will cause more hassle? I nipped to the porcelain to try and pass to see if it helped.

Checked the emails. On to Facebook.

The Social Hours was a bit bare of tenants.

I handed in my prizes for the raffle, a tin of chocolates, a bag of sweets, a pack of Beef slices and bag of biscuits.

Mo, on the left here.

She seemed a lot happier today.

In fact, we all appeared to enjoy it today.

I’m glad to say that Mo’s arthritis was a bit easier this morning too.

93-year-old Eddy attended for a short while but had to nip off to sort something. A fantastic chap is Eddy.

This bloke left (Sorry, I’ve forgotten his name) who along with the lady in the bottom photographicalisation, run the Old Foggies meeting, both seemed a little lighter than of normal.

All good stuff.

The chap on the left doesn’t talk much, but I’ve got him chatting a bit bless him.

The organisation lady had time for a talk with so few folks in attendance.

She put on ‘A Face’ for me when she noticed I was aiming the camera in her directions, but she smiled so triumphantly afterwards.

I won a prize in the Super-raffle, the last one, a tin of peaches. Hehe! I gave it to William who I know likes them.

William and I stayed on a little over the time chinwagging – we were soon removed!

I returned to the flat and got the things ready for going to visit Asda to get the photos printed, but left the camera behind. Huh!

I was the only one to catch the bus into Arnold. Straight to the Photoshop and got the printing done. Then around the shop while I waited for them. Got some 125g mandarins in jelly pots 5 for £2, and a ready meal. Paid the lady at the check-out, dropped all my coins while trying to get the odd change for her, and back to pick up the photographs.

Over to the Fulton Food store, and blow me down, they had some of the tiny Blackcurrant and vanilla ice sticks back in stock. I knew the freezer was full but still bought some anyway. Twit!

To the bus-top and caught the L9 home, a nice word that, home.

Had to readjust things in the freezer again, but got the ices into it.

Call from NCH (Nottingham City Homes) hard to hear, think they’re coming Tuesday to start the Shower conversion?

I must see Deana in the morning, to confirm things, like, how do I go on without a WC while they take four days to do the job?

Cuppa and medications were taken. (Forgot the midday ones, Humph!)

For nosh, I had some fishcakes and fish fingers (Thus making room for the ice sticks in the freezer – cunning!). Now Brother-in-law Pete on his last visit had managed to get the jar of Peppers in oil lid opened for me, I had some of them too. Plus a cup of milk and pot of mandarins in jelly.

And very nice indeed. Wish I could remember where I bought the peppers from. Tsk! Took the medications.

Feeling well worn out then. Watched some DVD and then two hours of TV, and the Land of Nod beckoned.

TTFN all.

Inchcock Today: Tuesday 24th May 2016: Flat complex plan formulation meeting tonight!

Tuesday 24th May 2016

Fare thee well, and may your foibles ferment with festive fun.

Awoke at 0340hrs, feeling somewhat cold. I spent a few frustrating moments trying to recall the dreams I’d been having, without any luck. Just the sensation of frustration coming to mind, but no details at all! Humph!

The itching around the neck and shoulders was becoming uncomfortable again. I wondered if the second-hand recliner chair might have brought some little extra residents with it?

Lowered the recliner down first press of the button. Into the WC (No blood from Little Inchy), then to the kitchen to make a cup of tea, to take the medications with. I thought ‘Blimey it’s nice and warm in here… I’d left the cooker hotplate on. Fortuitously, on low, but it didn’t do the saucepan resting on top of it a lot of good! Another one for recycle bag. Tsk!

I looked at the thermometer on the window and was not surprised to see it read 68°, 7° higher than it was yesterday morning. The front room was like an ice box in comparison. This reminded me to do the BP checks, so I got out the monitor and got the following readings: Sys 143 – Dia 73 – Pulse 82 – Body Temp 36.5 Looked alright to me.

Made the cuppa and took the medications, then got the laptop going. Finished the Monday diary and started this one off.

Checked the emails. Nice one from Sandie, the TFZ site Commander.

Remembered the Asda (Walmart) delivery is coming twixt 0700 and 0900hrs, so I got back into the bathroom to do my ablutionisationing. When it did arrive late, the washing up liquid had leaked all over the other cleaners in the bag. What a mess. I let the driver know about it, but was so behind on his run, I left it and sorted it out.

Sorted and took the waste and recycling bags to the chute. I was going to take a raspberry sundae to give Olive in flat 84, by the time I’d got down to the foyer I remembered, but it was too late go back up. I left the dessert on the table if anyone wanted it. To the bus stop and had a gossip. Chatted with Mike from the 15th floor on the bus into town.  I like listening to Mike telling about his days as a sniper in the jungle in Korea.

Dropped off and went straight into the Wilko Store, to get anther bottle of their large Dettol Lavender and Orange Oils antiseptic disinfectant on offer at £2. I like it in me bath yer know. I then got carried away when I noticed the other offers they had on Brut deodorant and splash-on. All together at standard prices these would have cost me £13.35 – but today £7.10! Bargain purchases.

Then I wondered up and to the walk-over that spans Upper Parliament Street.

I was going to take a photograph of two naughty Nottingham Pavement Cyclist but got somewhat distracted, like.

Ahem!

I regained my composure and took two photographs of the road from opposite sides of the walk-over. I thought my friends on the TFZ site might like these with the buses in view.

I hobbled into Victoria Centre in the hope of finding a customer who had hired one of the Kiddies Car Trolleys to get a photograph, for Mary on the TFZ site – but no luck, not one being used. Tsk!

I nipped into the Victoria Market and got a bar of Carbolic and two of Coal Tar soaps for a quid!

I went to the Pound Shop to get a pack or two of the chocolates I bought at the shop last time – I had no luck there either.

I limped on and to the Poundland shop, they were out of stock too.

I did manage to get a photo of a Nottingham Pavement Cyclist on the way to Trinity Square, though.

Almost missed him as well as he nipped around and behind a parcel of pulchritude using her mobile phone.

I arrived at the L9 bus top and had a while to wait, so I thought I’d nip down to the Slab Square and see if I could capture any interesting photographicalisation of the Nottinghamians there.

Oh dear no!

They were preparing the utilities and building stands for the European Archery Championships.

This took me back to 1971: When I paid my 1/6d (2.5 new pence now) and entered Meadows old Boys Club Longbow competitions. I failed to achieve any score whatsoever and felt a right dipstick as I recall. I thought is was a good idea at the time like. Humph!

Just thought I’d mention it.

Back up Queen Street and caught the L9 back to the flats, just avoiding falling asleep en route.

The lift was rather full, and despite my asking who wanted which floor and telling them, I was on the twelfth one. They insisted on crowding in after me, and when we reached the 12th, they had to get our to release me, then pile back in to get to their 14th and 15th floors. No hiatus mind, they were all friendly folks.

To the WC and finding no bleeding I made a cuppa and took the afternoon medications (A bit late I know, hehe) and was feeling a little jubilant and ebullient, what with getting all the bargains and Little Inchy not playing up either.

Put some of the bargains on the kitchen window and photographed them, then doctored it the writing in CorelDraw.

I put one bar of carbolic in the airing cupboard to scent the clean clothes. Well, it might. I’d forgotten to try and get some of the lavender soap. Huh!

Laptop on and updated this tedious dairy.

Got the oven on warming ready for the chips and beef slices to go in later.

Checked the emails, answered Sister Janes.

Got the fodder cooking and did some Facebooking.

Hello, cream cakes?

Where did they come from?

Worn out now, soon nodded off despite my earlier long nod-off. Hehe!

Inchcock Today Mon 23 May 2016: Socialised a bit today – oh yes!

Monday 23rd May 2016

Roused into life around 0100hrs – drifted back out of life, until I stirred again around 0400hrs in substantial need of the attention of the porcelain rather urgently. The recliner shuddered a bit worryingly as I battled my way out of it and to the bathroom. I knew straight away Little Inchy had been bleeding by the tell-tale signs of dampness and warmth. Tut!

Messy job sorting myself out, but it wasn’t too painful today. Kettle on and made a brew and took the morning medications near the laptop as I started to complete yesterday’s diary post.

I noted that the back and shoulders were itching and found it hard to resist scratching away at them. Had I put the wrong stuff in the bath last night? The itching, has moved to the neck now? Maybe something I put in the washing machine, as I felt a bit cold, I am wearing the dressing gown for the first time in ages since last washing it? This prompted me to remember to do the BP etc. Sys 139 Dia 71 Pulse 74 Temp. 32.6 KT (Kitchen Thermometer) 61f, recorded these on the graph.

0500hrs: Pondered on what needed doing today. I would like to take another Nottingham book to Jenny, but I’ve forgotten what number her flat was. Tsk! Also, I’d like to go to Arnold and get some photographs printed. No medical appointments today, strange feeling.

Started this post off and did some graphics and got some photographs onto an SDHC thingamabob card, and put in in the camera, to take with me to Asda (Walmart) for printing later.

Sister Jane rang (Also sent me an email) telling me to buy a Nottingham Post today, as the article about Nottingham Pavement Cyclists was on page 8, and an interesting bit on page two.

Ablutions carried out, Little Inchy losing a bit of blood from the lesion. Then I hurriedly got the things ready. Down to the lobby and had a jolly chinwag with some other residents. Then we went out to catch the bus. All bar one lady and I got on the first bus. Another friendly gossip as we travelled into Arnold and got off at the same stop.

I wandered along to Asda to get the photographs done and bought two new camera cards, on 32gb to use at the flat, and one 8gb to use on the camera.

Went to but a Nottingham Post Newspaper, but found that they had sold-out. Humph! Did some shopping. After paying the kind lady, the time to catch the L9 bus back was getting close, so I nipped out the front of the store to find a newsagent to purchase a Post from, but, none in sight.

Got to the bus stop and the lady tenant I’d travelled there with arrived and we had a sit down on a bench and we nattered while we waited for the bus. I realised I’d not got a Post yet, and the lady suggested I drop off the bus in Sherwood and get a Post, then walk back up to the flats through Woodthorpe Park. So I did that.

She then reminded me of the meeting tomorrow night at the Social hut, 1730 > 1830hrs, about the ideas for doing up the flat complex and surrounding area? Not that I’d forgotten about it of course. Ahem!

I got off the bus and waved goodbye to the lady on the bus, I called into a newspaper shop, got two copies of the Post and a Nottingham Bygones.

As I paid him, the newspaper shops owner, sneered through his beard and kindly overcharged me. Swine!

I walked back up the hill, and as I approached the top of it, yet another Nottingham Pavement Cyclist came pelting down towards me, swerving in between the poor pedestrians.

The execrable bully!

But I must not dignorate all Nottingham Cyclists in this way, just those vile ones who endanger and or scare the dotard like members of the pedestrians like what I am, with their dangerous activities.

Limped back to the flat and to the WC, Little Inchy still bleeding a tad, cleaned and creamed him up.

Mail from utility company had been delivered.

Put away my purchases of the day:

The SDHC cards, Irish Batch bread, a tin of potatoes and stewed steak in gravy and the pack of new Walker’s Bugles. (I got these to share out at the next Winwood Hut Social meeting.

Placed the photograph envelope on the kitchen window ledge, surely I can’t miss or lose them here?

Oh, and as for how that pot of Raspberry dessert treat got in my bag?

Hehehe!

Visited the porcelain again, Little Inchy had finally stopped bleeding.

I took the pork shoulder steaks I got on Saturday, you know the ones – those I thought were Lamb should steaks when I bought them. Sad innit? To warm them up a bit before cooking them later.

Made another brew and got the laptop on to update this hogwash.

Did a bit of work on another post and checked emails, then got on Facebook for a while.

For Monday’s fodder ‘s I got the BBQ pork steaks in the oven for half an hour, then later warmed the seasoned BBQ beans up in the saucepan. I used the Patti Beckert recipe for the beans. (Thank you again Patti) Added the last of the tomatoes and consumed all this with some Irish batch bread. The sundae for afters.

Not as good as I thought it was going to be, though. The beans, bread and tomatoes were excellent. The pork tasteless and the raspberry sundae thingamabob was terrible! Hey-ho!

Watched some DVD episodes of Hustle and realised I’d done the washing up yet. Cleaning up pots and pans was not easy because: ◊ I’d left the hot tap running earlier and the hot water was now cold. ◊ I boiled some water in the kettle, to use and spilt it on my right hand. ◊ I found I’d left the oven on, and ◊ I now have one less milk jug after a Whoopsiedangleplop and it fell to the floor.

On the bright side, I did not cut myself when I got down to clean up the broken pieces of pottery – getting back up was another predicament I struggled with. Hehe!

TV on and I drifted off into the land of dreams at the first commercial break…

Hey-ho again!

Inchcock Today: Sun 22 May 2016: No buses on a Sunday, so computerisationalistic activities ensued. (Say that when you’ve had a drink. Hehe!)

Sunday 22nd May 2016

0115hrs: After a few hours of trying to sleep with repeatedly dreaming similar nightmares about excavating tiny coffins from the red hot sand and soil in a desert somewhere: they were miniature coffins in sets/blocks of twelve. We (Me and several unknown others) would wet them and they grew to normal size instantly and we had to remove the contents to check for signs of Mad Cow Disease?

All of them had the body remains inside, but although sealed and unbroken, all were packed solid with a sandy greenish mud?

I gave up trying to sleep and tried to get out of the second-hand recliner chair. The back of it had gone down so much, it had affected the reflux valve and I started hiccuping and belching painfully.

There was no response to my pressing the remote control thingy, and I had to climb out of the chair to get to the WC. Dodgy that!

I was in the bathroom by 0125hrs. Returned to the death-chair after a bit of whining and clunking from the mechanism, it seemed to reset itself again and was working once more?

Made a cuppa and got the laptop on.

Did much WordPressing and graphicalisationing, then made another cup of tea and took the medications. (0415hrs) Titivated some options on CorelDraw 8.

Finished yesterday’s post, then went on Facebook. Got carried away, four hours later I made another cuppa.

Many hours later I got the Crock-Pot minced beef stew in caramelised grave with onions and potatoes all prepared, added some roast potatoes, wholemeal sliced bread, with lemon yoghourt for afters.

Did the washing up, returned to the once again working recliner chair and fell asleep for a few hours.

Woke up in time for the programme about Sir Alf Ramseys boys. Stayed awake throughout the programme! (BBC, no advertisements?)

After which I again returned to the land of nod.

That was the end of Sunday for me.

Inchcock Today Sat 21 May 2016: Alive and Active! (To start with)

Saturday 21 May 2016

Bounced into life late today, around 0500hrs – I think I got in seven hours straight kip! Pondered on the dream I’d been having, recalling something about ladies and me in a room and having a good time? Memory dream that was.

Then bits about one with Lynton Cox lecturing me and hitting me on the knuckles with a ruler at a desk in what appeared to be taking place in a classroom or similar in a sewer?  Hehe!

Then I nodded off again, another rarity for me. I was forced into getting up and visiting the porcelain throne and found the proceedings easier that I have for a long time.Maybe the vegetable casserole last night helped?

Maybe the Crock-pot vegetable stew last night helped?

I rang brother-in-law Pete and we had a little chinwag.

Made a cuppa, took the medications and got the laptop on. I want to save some favourite photos to a card, to take to Asda and get printed today. I’ll walk, if the rain keeps off, we had a lot of wet last night judging by the roads and vehicles outside.

I finished off the Thursday post entry. Did the ablutions and ready to go for the bus to Arnold – which turned out the bus to Nottingham, due to me managing to misread the timetable and getting on the wrong one bus. (I know, I know it’s hard to believe that I could get myself into such a muddle – Ahem!)

All ready. Then, I set off with little time to spare down the lift on the way to the bus stop for the number L9 one and realised I had not got my hat on. So, I looked in the bag to see if I had a spare woolly-hat in there like I usually do, but couldn’t see one. It was too late to go back to the flat or I’d miss the bus. The L8 arrived, and who I have always called Julie got off the bus, and I had a natter and discovered her name is Jean and she lives in flat 38, not 48. (I know, I know it’s hard to believe that I could get myself into such a muddle – mark two – Ahem!)

Arrived in town and called into the Pound World Shop on Milton Street to see if they had any woolly hats in stock, asked an assistant lad and he said not. So I walked back to the Poundland Shop on Upper Parliament Street and asked staff, got the same answer, but I did find some Camping Hats and got one of them. Lovely warm lining and waterproof on the outside, even if I do look a plonker in it Hehe! I bought some Lotus Caramelised Biscuits 8×2 packs, and Haribo Jammy Chamalous sweets as well as the hat. Naughty boy!

The feet were stinging a bit then. Hobbled through Victoria Centre (Mall) and out and over to the Aldi store.

Purchases some fodder: Lemon yoghurts, fresh mushrooms, a 5% Minced beef, Minted lamb shoulder cuts, pots of porridge, Brown craft loaf, Cod liver oil tablets and a pack of bread thins.

Spent £12.33, t’was the beef and lamb that were expensive, but I treated myself and no feelings of guilt either!

As I limped back, through the Victoria Centre, a git on a bike almost had me over as he sped through the shopping centre at great speed!

The Swine!

I plodded through, out and up into Trinity Square, where I perused the second-hand jewellery shop windows to see if owt new was on offer for me to photographicalise for the TFZ gals. Evening Post

Made my way towards the number 40 bus stop. Being a Saturday the next L9 that goes all the way to the flats was not due for over an hour, so decided to catch the 40. I called in the Spar shop en route and got a Bacon Sizzler cob, aim to have it early, then the wait for the planned Minced Beef hot-pot in the slow cooker will not drive me mad with the smell coming from it cooking for six hours. Hehe!

I had a walk down into the Slab Square and there was a demonstration, peaceful mind you and some I think, Vietnamese students trying to get up a petition against cruelty in their homeland. I was going to take a photo of them, and the arrival of several policemen put me off.

I was going to take a picture of them, and the arrival of several policemen put me off.

Not many folk about on Exchange walk today?

Walked back up to the bus stop and caught the 40 bus.

As we passed the end of Clumber Street, I tried to take a photo of the crowd, but, at the rate of knots, that we were travelling at, it came out blurred.

Hey-ho!

Got off on Winchester Street Hill. No falling asleep today!

Got over the road without any hiatus and limped back to the flats.

On the way, I noticed the falling petals from the Chestnut Trees.

I took these shots from underneath one.

Pleased with how they eventually came out, out considering the wind was moving the flowers and leaves about something awful at the time I tried to take them.

Got in the flat and began preparing the beef stew in the Crock-Pot. Then nipped down to fellow tenant Jean’s flat with some DVD’s she wanted to look at.

Started this post update, when I got a telephone call… from the Nottingham Post newspaper! They were going to do an article on Pavement Cyclists, to see what others thought, in response to my email and photographs I’d sent to them last week! Yippee!

I’m Going off-line now, to watch the cup final and eat me bacon sizzler with a hot strong cup of tea and take the evening medications!

See yers later…

Well, what a match!

I wonder how much Man Utd slipped the referee this time then?

Got the fodder ready.

Watched the Haye vs. Gjergjaj ludicrously farcical boxing match. (If I may use that term?)

Although I felt tired, sleep did not come quickly and I think I managed about three hours… Tsk!

TTFN folks.

Thank you for your response. ✨

Inchcock Today Fri 20 May 2016: Long day. Visitation from Sister Jane and Pete – nice!

Thursday 20 May 2016

Awake at 0245hrs, no chance of nodding off again, the old brain was racing away. Off it went: What day is it? What needs doing today? Ah, Jane and Pete are coming to see me… I must get the laundry done early and out of the way. Might be getting a visit from the maintenance department before 1000hrs, must ring to find out what the INR dosage is now and I’d better get up and go to visit the porcelain now. Hehe!

Laptop on and finished the Thursday article and posted it. Made a cuppa and took the medications, did the BP tests and recorded them. After which, I got the washing and accoutrements ready, then went as quietly as I could manage in the lift down to the laundry room. How time flies, it’s 0325hrs already.

Got the washer going on ‘Quick mode’ and back to the flat, laptop restarted and updated this post.

0405hrs, down to the washing room and moved the clobber into the dryer.

0425hrs: Back on the laptop after making a Whoopsiedangleplop with setting the dryer mode. Somehow I pressed for ‘Woolen Dry’ instead of ‘Cotton Dry’, fortunately, the cycle for the woollens was only four minutes. So I waited until it finished, luckily having plenty of 20p pieces with me, and set it again at the proper setting. It displayed ‘1 hour 1 minute to completion, then seconds later it changed to ’50 minutes to completion’? Back up to the flat and added to this page.

Doing this, I remembered Jane had sent me two photographs of herself with her musical hero Dave Berry. She had these taken at the Concert last week.

Her exact witty words to me on sending the second one were:

“Attaching a dafter photo of me and my idol Dave – in awe, or wot!”

Luv Jane X

For a bit of fun, I found a photo from years ago and doctored it with Jane as she was.

Hehe!

Not changed at all has she?

After getting this far with the post, I got the washing bag nd went back down to the Laundry Room, creeping about as silently as I could, cause it is still only 0515hrs yer know.

Collected the gear from the laundry room, cleaned the filter and brushes, back to the flat and put away the clean washing, put some socks that are a bit tight in the Nottingham Hospice Charity shop bag and back on the laptop to this post, all by 0558hrs. Did this bit of the diary, now I have some time to titivate the flat.

Back in a while folks…

Well blow me down with a feather duster, the new Dyson cleaner packed up with a dead battery after 15 minutes of use! Humph! All I did was the front room carpet and some of the skirting board in the hallway. Grumph!

Janet and Pete arrived 1039hrs. We had a good chinwag, I gave them their bag of nibbles for themselves and the cats. Jane brought me some books from the Jumble sale she is a volunteer at. Everyone looks interesting too, bless her. All I need now is time to read them. Hehehe!

Made them a cuppa after they had taken a peek here and there in the flat, then Jane tried out the recliner chair. It didn’t play up when she was on it?

They were off on the 1139hr L9 bus, walked them to the bus-stop and Julie from the fourth floor got off and I walked her back to her flat.

The vegetable casserole was about done in the Crock-Pot, so I put some roast potatoes in the oven and will add some potato cakes to them later (If I remember – I did remember!).

I really enjoyed this effort. 9/10. I must remember the recipe and ingredients I used: Small potatoes, carrots, turnip, parsnip, red onions. Gravy from Bisto caramelised, Asda (Walmart) Vegetable granules and stock cube, splash of vinegar, oregano and rosemary. And in the Crock-Pot for seven and a half hours on low. Cooked roast potatoes added when serving.

Cleaned the pots then watched some TV until late (For me).

Felt in decent spirits as I drifted off.

Inchcock Today Thu 19 May 2016: Tenants Social Hour missed, but Some anacreontic moments shared

Thursday 19 May 2016

After getting off to sleep so early last night, I sparked into life this morning around 0255hrs, had to climb out of the recliner because the mechanism refused to perform the lowering motion. (Good start to the day!)

To the bathroom throne, a bit of bleeding but not much this morning. However, I did notice the usual blubbery mass hanging around my midriff was getting decidedly larger! Decided I must try to control my amandation for fattening foods.

Carried out the BP and other tests. Sys 155 Dia 69 Pul 69, seems alright. I put the record of these in the bag to show the nurse later.

I went to get the nibbles for the nurses, and… Dang dang dang DANG… I found the missing Alarm Wristlet! What a plonker!

Did some Facebooking. Ablutions carried out, nibbles for the nurses and Hut staff collected and set off to the Winwood Hut. Deana not there so I apologised to Julie, grovelled magnificently and gave her some nibbles. Then I set out on the walk to Dr Vindla’s surgery for the INR level tests.

Walking to the surgery I espied to this gentleman had parked on a one-way street, the right way, but on double yellow lines about 15ft from the T-junction with the main road.

Naughty boy!

He noticed me taking the shot and moved off.

Pressed on in the warm and un-windy conditions and the feet started giving me a lot of jip. Tsk! Still, the left knee was not as bad as yesterday.

Got in the surgery and settled to wait, reading me war book. It was the Obergruppenfurher Nurse on duty today again. She decided to take the blood from the other arm, and it hurt for the first time in years, and a feint trace of a smile came over her face. Bless her!

However, although she moaned about not having much time, she did look at the BP record and wrote down if the Sys is below 140, and the Dia is below 90 let them know. Which confused me a bit, cause the Dia has never been as high as 90? Gave her the nibbles, and made my way dangerously to the bus-stop to get one to Arnold. I say dangerously because of the two young ragamuffin Pavement cyclists that very nearly had me and a few other pedestrians with their weaving at speed through the crowds. By the time I got the camera out they were well away and mixed in the distance with the poor pedestrians.

In Arnold, I walked to Wilko and got some more of the Special Offer lavender Dettol and a packet of bath salts: I might not need these for long, though, with the shower conversion almost due?

Then to Asda to get the photographs printed and collect the pressie I ordered for a particular personage, of a mug with his photo on it. But… I could not print any pictures out due to the flaming SHCD or whatever its card, having been broken and lost the corner plastic and the machine would not read it.

Hey-ho! So I did some shopping, got carried away again, but most of the cost was on salad stuff as part of my new ‘Reduce-the-stomach-size campaign’. Hehe! I got: Fresh Bistro Salad pack, Tomatoes, radishes, potatoes, a turnip, carrots, beetroot cubes and red onions. I thought, that for tomorrow a vegetable casserole? Tonight a salad, with the chicken thighs I forgot to mention like?

Disappointed at being thwarted with the photograph mission, I made my way to the bus stop. Had a long wait, but the weather was beautiful. Interesting collision twixt two Vauxhall Corsas en route, but of course the camera had no card for me to record it.

Stayed awake for the journey to the flats (Just).

I got the veg prepared and into the Crock-pot, potatoes, carrots, parsnip, red onion, tomatoes, Oregano, basil, tomato puree and a splash of vinegar. I’ll see how that comes out tastewise.

Swapped the card from the other camera into the best one.

Laptop on and updated this, checked the emails: Sister Jane had sent one, providing she is feeling up to it, they will be calling to see me in the morning around 11 o’clock. Cheered me up a bit.

Then, BJ rang back, he had a great holiday in Ireland. Sounded a bit perkier the lad did.

Got the salad plate laid out, just added the potatoes and my lip were then smacking.

A strawberry (Small one of course, ahem!) trifle to follow.

Very enjoyable it was too.

Rated this as a good one. 9.3/10.

Watched some Hustle episodes again. I think this series is so entertaining and dryly humorous.

Nodded off early, that was nice for a change.

TTFN all.

Inchcock Today Wed 18 May 16: Deana (Flats Coordinator) to the rescue!

Wednesday 18 May 2016

Up and out of my recliner (Working again) chair and to the ‘tinkle room’. Little Inchy bleeding just a tiny bit. Heavy duty passage was okay.

Remembered that Deana (Complex Coordinatoress) is coming today to sort out a replacement wrist alarm – oh dear!

Made a cuppa and took the medications, did the BP checks then got yesterday’s diary finished and did some graphicationalisationing.

A quick check on emails and Facebook then did the ablutions.

The drizzle started, it looks like it may be going to settle in.

After several hours spent searching in one last effort to find the lost alarm and no Deana arriving, I wrote a note on a stick it thingy, explaining I’d gone to see her and I would be back if she is not there, to adhere to the door when I left to do so. (But I forgot to stick it on the door, cause going out, I had to go back for my hearing aids, Huh!). Deana and Julie were in the hut. Deana had forgotten about the replacement alarm and had also forgotten to take it with her when she visited the flats earlier. I told her not to worry as I was an expert nowadays on forgetting and losing things. She said she’ll be up later. Hope she is not too late, cause I want to go and get some chips, bread and fresh vegetables.

Returned to the min-apartment and waited.

Did some more graphicalisationing and emailed Sister Jane, then Deana arrived: She was in a rush, gave me a reprimand or two, instructed me to give her the Wristlet if I found it later. She set-up the new one, then gave me a friendly smile as she left.

I think she might have forgiven me?

It was starting to spit with rain again; however, I ventured out for a walk up and through the park into Sherwood. Not a single footpath cyclist was seen en route at all, whatsoever… none, I was almost shocked! Mind you, the rain might have had something to do with it?

I took a nice photograph from underneath the mini-umbrella as I started down the hill towards the shopping area.

The left knee started giving way from here on and for the rest of the day? With the right one, that is usually the worst of the two playing up, I began regretting not taking the walking stick with me, Tsk! But that would have been interesting fumbling with the stick, the brolly and the shopping bag. Haha!

I only went into the Co-op store to shop, because I had the money-off vouchers, £1 off frozen foods and 50p off when I spend over £5. The veg I wanted was not in a good condition, short dated and wrinkled like. However, they did have the Blitz kitchen towels on offer again, so I got a three-pack, a packet of vegetable crisps (Beetroot, carrots & parsnip), Wholemeal loaf, Low-fat Oven Chips (McCains – horrible and tasteless!) and some marshmallows on offer 50p off two bags.

The rain had all but stopped when I got out of the store and made my way limpingly back to and through Woodthorpe Grange Park and down to the flats. However…

Hobbling by the copse on the gravel path down to the flats, I came across some of these flowers in amongst the weeds, dandelions, daisies and buttercups I came across.Wondered what they were like?

Wondered what they were like?

The wildflowers there all looked beautiful.

When I arrived at Inchcock Towers, I did my best to clean the wet, mud and grass from the shoes. But still had to wash them in the sink with the scrubbing brush, then clean the sink and brush, and when I’d dried them best I could and went to put them near the door, where I found some mail had been delivered – the left knee gave a terrible twinge and gave way. Huh! Walking about like a poor cripple for an hour or so. If I get to see the ‘Nice’ nurse in the morning, I’ll mention it to her, see what he says. The pain doesn’t feel like the work of Arthur Itis?

Made a cuppa and took the medications, slipped one extra codeine phosphate in amongst them. It (the knee) eased off after a while and I felt only the usual Arthur Itis bother after. Seems that it is coming on only after I’ve been doing a bit of hobbling.

Set to making the nosh, as was getting exhausted for some reason again.

Sliced up a large tomato, beetroot, beef slice, wholemeal bread partially buttered and the terrible oven chips (Eurgh!) followed by two small tubs of ice-cream.

Despite the tasteless chips, I ate it all up, though.

Washed the pots, then put the INR result sheet in my pocket for the mornings INR blood tests.

Watched some Hustle episodes from the DVD, but soon nodded off – blissfully.

Inchcock Today Tue 17 May 2016: Admonished or losing the Alarm Wristlet – Shamed!

Tuesday 17th May 2016

Not a bad night, gorrup still feeling tired at 0405hrs, the recliner chair refused to lower itself, so I climbed carefully out of it and made my way to the bathroom, the mind running like an express train. All sorts of things seemed to be trying to get my attention at the same time? The throne duties passed without any hiatus, although at first for a second I had some bother, then I remembered the beetroot I ate last night.

Made a brew and took the morning medications.

The mind still bubbling with turmoil in the background? The house and hopefully all the bills and payments were sorted and that should have cheered me.But the worry over the bathroom being turned into a wet-room and taking up to five days bothered me, The Warfarin level and extra test falling on my tenants meeting time? The bruising on the hand and wrist?

But the worry over silly things, were getting to me this morning, why?

Over the bathroom being turned into a wet-room and taking up to five days bothered me, The Warfarin level and extra test falling on my tenants meeting hour, I look forward to this every week? The new bruising on the hand and wrist?

I suppose the loosing of the alarm thingy should take precedence, I’ve still not informed anyone cause I can’t get to find them in the Community Hut? I was, still hoping to find it, but after yet another search earlier, I’ve resigned to my having lost it. I must call again to tell Deana or Julie and throw myself on their mercy!

I must call again to tell Deana or Julie and throw myself on their mercy!

Laptop on and did the diary and started this one. Then made some graphics to use on the TFZers Facebook page.

Did the ablutions, a bit of bother getting out of the bath again. Swapped the bin bags.

Got some empty jars for the recycling bin, shopping bag ready, checked I’d got bus-pass, spectacles, mobile, camera and crossword book in my bag, and set 0ff to take the bags to the refuse chute on my way to see Deana and or Julie at the Community hut.  Got about five foot from the door and returned to collect my hearing-aids.

Arrived at the shed, Julie was busy on the phone and Deana came in, also looking busy and I forced myself to explain to her about the Alarm wristlets catastrophic loss!

Within a few minutes, I was red-faced, admonished, embarrassed, ashamed, received notification that if it happens again, I will have to pay for any further replacements and a stiff clout around the ear-hole! (Only joking! About the stiff clout around the ear-hole that is!)

A wasp that had gained entry into Julie’s side of the hut – a brave but foolish manoeuvre on the part of the wasp, was despatched with great speed, aplomb and skill by Julie. I was greatly impressed indeed at her well-honed execution skills! (Merciless, but efficient she was! I was proud of her. Hehe!)

I departed, well chastised and dropped the beetroot jars in the recycling bin on my way up through the park and down into Sherwood to catch a bus into town.

I felt a surge of joy as I walked down the footpath in the park. The glorious fresh greenery and dogs happily on their walks, mothers and babies in the sunshine… and no Footpath Cyclists!

I caught a bus and someone stood up to let me sit in the front seat and they moved to one at the back of the bus. Nice that was!

The City was less busy than yesterday. However, the pavement Cyclists were still belting about.

Made my way to the bank and got some spending money out.

Walked to the M & S food hall and had a wander around, but didn’t buy anything.

Then on the way to Primark to see if they had any of the ‘Loose fitting’ underpants in stock, I fed some pigeons on the raised display near St Peter’s Church.

In the Primark shop, I wondered where so many people had come from. It was like an old-fashioned jumble sale, full of aggressive folk fighting for the reduced priced items? They didn’t have any of the things I wanted so I left without buying anything.

I called in the Poundland shop to see if they had any of the little plastic lidded pots in yet, but they hadn’t, so I left without buying anything again! (Doing well wasn’t I).

The legs were getting a bit bothersome and the right foot turned making it hard to balance, so I made my way to the L9 bus stop.

Called into the Spar shop on the way and got a hot bacon buttie, TV paper for next week, burger thins and beef slice.

Ate the buttie at the bus stop.

I could hear tannoy announcements coming from the Slab Square area and see people wandering toward the square. Couldn’t hear what was actually being said, though. Too tired to bother.

Caught the bus and had a natter with some passengers about leaving the Euro Zone. Which was good, because if I hadn’t, I’m sure I would have fallen asleep again on the bus. (Sad innit?).

Got in the flat and put some BBQ beans in a saucepan and sausages in the oven for nosh.

Had some burger thins with this and was soon falling asleep in the recliner, which incidentally, worked perfectly tonight?

But not for long! When I had to get up to go to the bathroom for me ablutions, I lowered the mechanism to get out of the chair okay.

When I returned, it was in the raised position? Or, had I got it wrong again? Did I lower it? I must have lowered it to get out surely!

I watched some DVD episodes of Hustle, nibbled some crisps and chocolates and fell asleep while doing so.

Hey-ho!
