Monday 29th April. 02:15hrs. Shave, shower and dressed and awaiting the Foot Strap to be fitted.
Failure again on the Porcelain Throne. 05:50hrs, carer brought me a mug of tea, bless her, she put the support strap on as well.
Did the physio and voice exercises. Another failed at both ends WC visit. The fingers were shaking a lot more today.
Had a shower and shave.
I think it is possible that Brother-in-law Pete will not remember to bring any aftershave from the flat for me now. Humph!
I lay in the blood planning my revenge! Not really, only joking. Hehehe!
08:00hrs. A third attempt on the Throne – at last some movement, even it was painful. Haha!
The right knee and arm had the shakes bad this morning.
Medications bought and taken. Toast and tea in the end room. A man called to do a bed check? Maintenance men back working on the radiators. Summoned down to nosh. A hot dog and onions. Not much, but it was grand tasting. But we did get an extra slice of toast later up in the room.
13:00hrs, back to cell eleven. Haha!
17:16hrs: Sister Jane rang. She had been trying to contact Deana and the Welsh lady from the Social Services without any luck, things are getting complicated for her now, and she will be going in for her own operation on her toes soon. Thought I’d add a photo of her accompanying me from the QMC a while ago: always there when needed our Jane. Makes me feel so guilty.
I had the stroke, and she and Pete copped for the hassle of sorting things out for me again!
I’m doing a lot of talking my thoughts out loud today. Not-half getting some funny looks, which is good, cause it makes me stop doing the waffling. But it starts again!
Tablets were taken, and nosh consumed.
Did some exercises and fell asleep so early again.
Tuesday 30th April 2019: 0300hrs, woke and got a shave and shower, readied the foot strap support and watched some TV.
Feeling so very weary and irritable with everything this morning. Maybe the upcoming move home is bothering me, I suppose.
Carer came with medications and did the foot strap for me. Told me that I will be leaving on Thursday to go home, and Jane and Pete will collect me around 11:00hrs.
Suddenly, after about five weeks of being told when to go to the toilet, eat, wake-up, go to bed and all cooking and washing done as well being done for me, I face the regaining of making decisions, and I do not feel ready, nervous really.
Medications brought to me, then IRN Warfarin blood test done.
Fish cakes peas and carrots for dinner with mash. Ice cream to follow, tasty!
Egg sarnie and cake for tea. (Much unreadable stuff here, sorry).
Friday 26th April 2019
The Oaks Residential Care Home
Maltese: Il-Ġimgħa 26 ta ‘April 2019
05:00hrs. Up, shave, shower and bloodied shave (Still no aftershave from Pete), Hehe!, readied the ankle support. Toast brought to the room.
Checked the notes, but they were getting less logical and readable as time goes by. Tsk!
Ankle strap fitted by the carer. Then I watched some crap early morning TV until it was time for going down for brekkers. I was told to go back up by carer for the nosh this morning, so I did so. In the social room with three other tenants, and the tension was noticeable, but I knew not why. Corn Flakes, no toast today, staff meeting I assumed to be the reason. Much unreadable stuff for half a page here?
Back to my room and spent more time watching mind-bogglingly banal TV. Did do some Physio exercises though. Tablets and blood test carried out.
I got told off by the carer for going out without my support strap on the foot. But no one came to put it on, so she did it for me, I fank you!
Warfarin nurse arrived to take some blood for the test. Jane rang a much clearer line this time. Can’t read about what was said though, m writing deteriorated again on the pad.
Nosh upstairs again in the room. Beef pastie and veg with mash. Tasty!
Confusing, Well it is now, again I cannot read my notesmessage from the Surgery. A complete loss as to what was said or by whom.
It suddenly dawned on me that the stroke might have affected my already dodgy hearing? Must remember to ask when I eventually get to speak with the Doctor again, I remember her name, but her face escapes me?
I met a manager or carer and told him about the foot support not being fitted. He lost interest and wanded off.
Boss returned later with the medications.
Much missing detail for today, just unreadable notes, sorry.
00:55hrs: Awoke with great reluctance to stay awake, let alone consider the possibility of dragging my body with its volumingargantuan stomach, out of the £300 second-hand rusty recliner! After a few minutes of argy-bargy with my will-power, and having the brain point out to me that I am almost out of clean clothes and need to get the laundry done; With recalcitrantness, I forced myself into sloth-like activity and got up.
As I was doing so, first I spotted a Weevil on the watch strap, got the camera to take a picture of the damned thing, then saw another one climbing up my leg!
I made these pictures on the left of the spotty Muldoon left hand, showing how I think, the red blobs are now getting lighter and fewer over the last three days?
I went straight to the spare room and gathered the bag of laundry and required appurtenances, had an SSWW. Got dressed and down to the laundry room.
Where I found that both spin dryers were in use. Neither washing machine was in use or even felt warm or wet inside the drums. This, of course, meant if I did my short wash, they might not be finished before I needed them. Frustrated, I swore under my breath and returned to the flat in a right niggly mood!
Took the outer clothes off, I may well have been tempted to kick the cat if I had one. Joking! Hehe!
Still, on the bright side, Shaking Shaun and Dizzy Dennis had both departed from yesterday’s attacks and was leaving me alone.
I set about carrying out the Health Checks.
When I got around to creating this post, I was tickle-pink with how accidentally I’d got the lens and camera in the reflection on the top part of the sphygmomanometer.
Which needed three tries, for it to work for me.
This morning’s reading s were far better than the weekend’s first tests. I made a brew, took the medications and got the computer going and updated lasts weeks and today’s Health Checklists on Excel.
No demands for the Porcelain Throne yet today? There were many cases of SSWW visits, though.
I set about updating the terrible tribulation troubles of the Sunday diary. Got it finished off and posted to WordPress. Went on the Reader Section, and read a comment, I’d have more, but only the one came in. Haha!
I considered going back down to see if the laundry machines were free, but felt too idle, lazy and irritated to bother.
An SSWW was taken, made another brew and got on with beginning this post.
The summoning to the Porcelain Throne arrived (better late than never!), and off I trundled. Just one EIBWBBB (Evil Ironclad Boll-Weevil black biting beetle) spotted in there. I’d love to know what their attack plans are, cause they keep catching me out every day almost!). The evacuation was a mix of coal-nuggets and sloppy content. But, the after-aroma was mephitic and nauseating, to put it mildly, even to me! Cor Blimey!
I reckon I can blame last night’s seasoned home-made beans for the putrescent smell? I might leave out the garlic next time I try to make anything like this again.
Another SSWW, I must get a spare bucket!
I checked the weather to see if it looked like rain for my planned mini-hobble.
The rain dripped in along the bottom of the unwanted new light and view-blocking window frame as I opened it to take a picture of the Nottingham lights. I had to dry the electric night storage heater, the window ledge, the floor and myself. It looked a little cloudy, and they seemed to be moving quickly. I checked on Google for today’s forecast. 46º Fahrenheit, 10% chance of precipitation, humidity 89%, wind 6mph. So I reckon I can get out to take some photographs, feed the Mallards and have a decent little hobble later.
Got the ablutions tended to. Just one Weevil seen in the wet room, but he/she was dead. Things were looking up, Weevil-War-wise?
After a good shave, teggies were done, showering, ear-hole-freeing-of-wax, and medicationalisationalistic duties were all performed, I felt a lot better in myself.
Sorted three black bags of waste and one large white bag of recyclable materials and wrapped them up. Took the small bags to the rubbish chute and deposited them. Back to the flat, and started ferreting about making sure I had left nothing that should be off, and mutatis mutandis, thing off, that should be on. I think? Hehe! All looked good, taps, stove, lights doors etc. checked.
Got the shopping bag with the Mallard food, pigeon fodder, hearing aid batteries, umbrella, nibbles and Christmas pressies to hand out, crossword book, notepad, and spare glasses in it. The pockets held the bus-pass, bank card, pens, camera, mobile phone, and £32,150.00 in spending money… Only jesting!
Locked up and down to the lobby. No one was about.
As I departed, Some more of the Willmott Dixon fencing had been removed. They must be getting close to finishing the outside of Woodthorpe Court, now.
I took this shot of the frontage of the 45 flatted new Winwood Extra Care block and Stabsfeldwebeless Wardens Nuclear Fallout Shelter and Stun-Gun safe, and Holding Cells, block. Hahaha! They seem to be making decent progress on it now.
I greeted a few of the Willmott Dixon lads as I passed on my way to the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights, Hauptbereitschaftsleiteress Warden’s Temporary HQ. Sarcasm & Insult distribution area. Tenants Socialisationistical Meeting Shed. Telling Inchcock off Zone. Where things like crockery and pottery get stolen from, Rumourmongering Clinic, and somewhere to rest while waiting for the bus, Portakabin.
Angel Gould, Olympic Arbitration Champion, financial advisor to Angelina Jolie and Nottingham City Homes Obergruppenführeress Patch Commander was passing in her Rolls Royce and stopped to talk to me. She would talk to me later in the hut.
I got inside the Portakabin. I made my way to see Generalleutnantess Warden Deana and
Generaloberstess Warden Julie. We spoke about…Ah, I remembered, I am barred by the Nottingham City Homes Management, from mentioning anything taking place between Nottingham City Homes agents, representatives or employees and myself.
Many tenants arrived, and I managed to get a few laughs and little chinwags.
Angel Gould, Catwalk Model, Trainer for the Olympic bob slay team, and Nottingham City Homes Obergruppenführeress Patch Commander came in, and we spoke. But I won’t mention that she has kindly requested an NCHs Pest Control chap to call and see me later about the EIBWBBBs.
I joined the gang at the bus stop as both buses arrived. Everyone got off in Sherwood, apart from Doreen and myself. I dropped in Daybrook and made my way to the Arnot Hill Municipal Park, and went to have a natter with and feed the Mallards and pigeons. Here are the photos I took of the birds.
1 / 8
I’m out of food for them again now. Must get some more if time tomorrow after, or before, the blood test. Which has been set for 10:20hrs, most annoying.
Said cheerios to the Mallards, which tickle the people nearby me. Hehe! And have a hobble into Arnold.
I thought their version and idea of a Christmas tree was, well… Crap!
I looked in the Chambers’ butchers to see if they had any of their home-made roast belly pork slices. It was evident to me that the stuff on show was from yesterday, and fatty too. So I carried on and called into the Boyes store to see if they had any of foot spray on the shelves. Nope! So I pressed on and called in the Iceland store. I came out with a jar of red onion caramelised chutney and a pack of smoked ham offcuts.
I hobbled along to the Asda Walmart store.
Where I did get carried away a bit. Tsk! I came out much later with Cheapo strawberry jelly and custard desserts. Fire & Smoke Texan Hot Dogs with Chilli coriander and pimento. Expensive but tasty in the extreme, and they had a good use by date of 02.03.2019! Seasoned potato slices. Ready-sliced mushrooms. Finally, some cheesy topped rolls. Which I plan to have (the cheesy rolls) with the offcuts of smoked ham, tomatoes, gherkins and a boiled egg perhaps. But, of course, it is a long way off yet, so things can change.
A bit like Brexit! Humph!
The cheesy topped roll looked appealing and felt nice and soft into the bargain.
I paid at normal serviced check out, and hobbled with the two bags up to the bus stop.
By the time the bus arrived there was a decent crowd that had joined me.
When the L9 arrived, and we all got on, the weather kept changing from bright to gloomy on the route back to the flats.
I took this picture through the bus window, just before we arrived in Sherwood.
Angela and Roy, Shirley and Bob got on the bus there.
We were all soon back at the ever-changing Winwood Heights complex. Typically, many folks would make their way to the Nottingham City Homes, Winwood Heights, Hauptbereitschaftsleiteress Warden’s Temporary HQ. Sarcasm & Insult distribution area. Tenants Socialisationistical Meeting Shed. Reprimanding Inchcock Zone. Where things like crockery and pottery get stolen from, Rumourmongering Clinic, and somewhere to rest while waiting for the bus, Portakabin. Where a patient queue would form to utilise the services of the WC. But not today. They were advised that the workmen will be digging up the ground outside all day, to find the cause of the leak. I had to smile at this, sorry.
I walked to the apartments with Angela and Roy, inside a lovely natter was had twixt us with Mo and Olive joining in. Handed out some nibbles, then I made my way up to the flat.
Nosh put away and got on updating this blog, until…
Fed-up, I gave up and got the meal ready.
Oh, dear and what a shame. The plate of fodder looked good and smelt good. But flavourwise, it was a bit of a calamity for my gustatory organs.
The tomatoes were bitter, the beetroots had the taste and texture of what I imagine ball bearings would have, and the cheesy cobs were unstimulatingly insipid. Only the smoked ham offcuts were really eatable with any modicum of enjoyment. Thus, a Flavour-Rating of 3.5/10 for this much left on the plate, effort. Grumph!
The skies still continued to go from dark to light. The photographicalisations above were taken about five minutes between each other.
The weariness dawned on me, concentration shot to pieces. However, I did remember to do an EIBWBBB patrol and spraying session.
Now this, I found amazing. I did not come across a single Weevil dead or alive anywhere! Had they been told of Opera singer, Oberführeress Angela’s plan to organise and despatch a Nottingham City Homes Pest Control Operative to the flat? Hehehe! Mayhap they are in the process of moving to a safer environment in another apartment? Or, is it another of their cunning schemes to fool me? Mmm?
I went to get a drink of the spring water and lemon cordial, and the sky was now looking beautiful.
Red Sky at Night – Shepherds Delight!
I settled down with a handfull of jelly babies and the drink, on the £300 second-hand recliner. I perused what was on the box, and found a couple of programmes I really fancied watching… Huh! Zzzz!
I would like to thank Nottingham City Homes, Willmott-Brown and their Sub-Contractors for arriving out of the blue this morning, just as I was leaving to catch the bus.
The chappy-man-plasterer asked if he could do the plastering on the Balcony Window now, as he had had cancellations.
So, I said yes. Left the door unlocked and toddled off.
Here is what I came back to find.
Duodenal Duncan is now giving me more hassle than it has ever done!
I spent hours trying to clean up the mess, but it would not have it. It remains being spread about from one room to another every time I walk anywhere.
No one is interested! Apart from me, that is. But I am feeling too poorly to even swear about it!
Gnashblumshackles!
I am not happy and feeling so fed-up, I don’t think I could feel anymore Fed-upable!
Inconcinnity, depression and intolerance are growing within me!
0300hrs: Woke, reluctantly, tried to get back to sleep, knew I’d been dreaming, but again, no memories of them. I hate that. Hehe! Gave up trying to nod off again when the urge to visit the porcelain throne appeared.
Flipping cold this morning.
Out of the £300 second-hand recliner and nearly went over as Dizzy Dennis caught me unawares as I dismounted. Onto the throne and Duodenal Donald kicked in and the stomach rumbling began. Thought about how I enjoyed yesterday’s Fish and Chip meal and how foolish I was to have gone for it.
Carried out the Health Checks and printed the last few day off so as to show the doctor later on.
All those 163 to 174 Sys readings and then it goes down to 155 on the day I go to see the Doctor? Humph! The weight down a bit again too, mind you, I got onto the scales after the Porcelain Throne session.
Took the medications.
I threw back the curtains as it began to get lighter, and realised why it was so nippy, I’d left the window open!
Humph!
Did some WordPress reading done, made a mug of strong tea… during which I had to make a rather hasty a trip back to the porcelain… just in time! Great! The runs, on a day I’ve got to go to the surgery, chemist, back for the Social Hour, back out to the bank, then the clinic!
Back to put the above photograph on here, and noticed some smoke in it, left of the right curtain.
Got a close-up of it from the kitchen window.
No emergency lights were showing. Looked like it was on the housing estate?
Got the paperwork for the day’s needs, Surgery, Bank and Clinic into a folder, put the raffle prizes and nibbles in the bag for the Social Hour and staff. Realised I had not booked an appointment with the Doctor’s Nurse for the Tuesday INR Blood Test… Huh! I’ll have to go to the City Hospital for it then. Far too late to get an appointment for Tuesday now. Hey-ho!
Made some reminder notes to take with me to avoid forgetting to mention something to the Doctor.
Updated this twollop.
Ablutions tended to.
Remembered to gather the things for the Nottingham Hospice Charity Shop to take them with me – plan to walk up through the park, up over the hill and to the surgery.
Set out and went the wrong way, half way along Chestnut Walk, I stopped and walked back in the opposite direction, so as to go to the Nottingham Hospice shop – stopped again when I realised I’d put their stuff in the wrong bag, and went back in the original direction. I’ll bet someone was watching and thinking; Look at that fool, what’s he up to now? Hehe!
Plenty of time to spare so I took a nice steady hobble down the hill.
Damn it, I had not got the hearing aids in!
A bit of an obstacle course on the pavement with the bins lined up for collection, but still.
Anne Gyna now amalgamated with Duodenal Dennis, and this was most annoying and persistent. Hey-ho!
Left and up the hill on Mansfield Road and over the crest… or should that be apex or maybe the crown of the road?
The traffic was building up here in Carrington as I had to stop a few moments to let Anne Gyna calm down.
Even Roger Reflux had a go at me then.
Tsk! Not feeling well at all, yet oddly not poorly.
Does that make sense to you?
Further down the hill as I approached the surgery, a sudden uplifting insanity came over me… no not insanity, erm, jollity!
I found Dennis had eased off quickly and I was singing to myself?
Well, maybe insanity after all. Hehe!
I got into the Surgery and consulted my list of things to remember and asked the receptionist if I had booked in for Monday or Tuesday for an INR Blood Test, she confirmed that I had, for 1020hrs. I thanked her, took my seat and got out the crossword book. Noticing as I did, some new posters on the board. It seems the senior Doctor is retiring and Dr Vinla is currently interviewing for a replacement. I thought she was off ill? Big decisions to make for her.
A locum for Dr Vinla was on duty today.
I was told to go in and the Doctor, a far Eastern Gentleman was very cross with me for forgetting the hearing aids, and when I had to ask for confirmation or misheard him, it made him angrier still. Oh dear! Got it wrong again didn’t I? But he was straight to the point. Well, in all but when I asked about and explained the depression and anxiety symptoms, which he told me we all have, and told me to leave it until Dr Vindla returned and warned me that referrals take months sometimes.
Duodenal Donald and Anne Gyna’s hassle I mentioned. He said to double up with the Omeprazole for a few days until things calm down. I pointed out that perhaps the stocks might run low, and he said if the do ask for some more later.
I requested some extra Codeine Phosphates and was pleased when after he’d read my statistics on the computer, he agreed to do so, because of the Morphgesic SR 30 mg Tablets being stopped in readiness for the graft operation and it should be safe to take some extra 30g Codeines, in place of them. So glad he agreed to this, bless him.
I thanked him, left his office and gave the staff some nibbles in a bag and walked (Very painfully now the feet had started singing) down the road into Carrington and the Chemist shop.
Deepak, the chemist and owner, asked me to have a talk with him while I waited for the prescription to be filled.
I mentioned how I was feeling depressed and why. Somehow it was easier to speak with him. A really nice chap, Deepak is.
The chinwag only took a few minutes, and I collected the medications and was off hobbling to the Lidl store.
I got only three things today, A bag of small potatoes, a small packet of Sugar-Peas and two small cheese cobs.
I paid on the serve yourself till and got rid of all my small change.
Hehehe! I later regretted this.
Out to the bus stop, (Weary legs and feet now) and got lifted up into Sherwood. Where I dropped off and called at the bank as instructed by the bank manageress last week, to talk to her about the direct debits and how I wanted things handling.
I explained all this to the lady serving, put my card and number into the machine on the counter, and she seemed to concentrate and read things on the screen for ages and ages? I began to fear that something was wrong… My IQ told me something was wrong!
Eventually, after I nearly fell asleep a few times waiting, she said that the manageress was unavailable today??? She added in a wholly disquieting, nerve-making tone, (To me anyway!) That the transfer had gone through and I could now use the new card. Conviction, was missing in her voice? Knowing my luck, I found it hard to believe that things were alright with it. Time will prove me right, my IQ is rarely wrong. Watch this space! Oh, dear…
Started to hobble up the hill to see if any buses might be coming to get me back up to the flats and realised the L8 service had finished, so no matter what the time, no luck. As I knew the L9 route came at 25 minutes past the hour, and it was 54 minutes past now.
So I limped back the way I came from and walked up Winchester Street Hill back to the flats.
Amazingly, I arrived in time (Well, not very late anyway) for the Tenants Social Hour. But it was hard work not hearing folks unless they were next to me and I could see the lips.
Got the raffle tickets and donated them to a table of ladies, handed out the nibbles, managed a quick bit of a gossip with Penny and BJ – then decided to call it quits and go back to the flat to get the hearing aids and take some painkillers and an extra Omeprazole.
Boy, was I lucky, just missed the downpour that started as I got in, put the fodder away and had a wee-wee before taking the midday and the extra medications. A bit of a mouthful that, Haha!
The rain was so fine it was hard to see, I’d got the hearing aids in by then and heard it more than saw it.
It only lasted a few minutes, but anyone in it would have recognised it as ‘That wet rain’ and got soaked through!
Did an order for Morrison’s while I thought of it. A job getting the new card accepted, but all okay now.
Set off on slow, nice and easy hobble to the Clinic at the City Hospital, remembering to take the attendance card and bus pass to get back with. See? Sometimes I can get things right, Hehe!
When I crossed over Valley Road at the pelican lights, a gentleman in a BMW went over on amber, gave me a fright he did.
I was well pleased with Anne Gyna, Arthur Itis and Duodenal Donald (Actually he was less bothersome now?) on the limp to the clinic. Only the feet gave me a lot of any bother. And no rain in sight. Come think of it, the roads might have been greasy, and that’s why Mr BMW didn’t try to stop? Glad I didn’t call him a naughty name now.
The usual Po-faced Obergruppenfurher on the reception again. I’ve worked out to annoy now. I keep a smile on my face and am extremely friendly and polite to him. Haha!
No waiting at all, I was called in within 2 minutes – into an office full of medical professionals and students. They explained As I thought about the Morphine removal being so that if I need it during the graft operation, it would be more efficient for me. The head man (I assumed as the others said nothing to him, except in answer to his prompting, but hung on his every word) explained the procedure in detail to me. But I will not repeat anything on here, cause it fritted me. Hehehe!
Then we all went into the treatment room, and they had a silent giggle and declared me all okay for the surgery to take place, as long as I have no more bad bleeds. After much embarrassment and poking and prodding, we returned back into the office and, he was a Mr, not Doctor? Advised me that having to cancel the original surgical time will mean a longer wait, this time around. Fair enough! He gave me more cream.
I thanked him, got out into the reception area and smiled at Hitler, the sweetest smile I could manage and said Thank you, my friend, received a look back that should have killed me actually, and got out quickly. Hehe!
I was going to take a photographicalisation of the clinic but had left the camera in the flat. Tsk!
A number 40 bus arrived within seconds of my getting to the bus stop. All this good luck is very worrying yer know! If had got the camera and used it, I’d have missed the bus!
The uphill, but a short walk from the 40 bus stop back to to the apartment block, was excruciating for me, thanks to the state of the feet and Anne Gyna starting to kicking off again.
So glad to get back inside. Had a long wee-wee. Checked on the man and woman handled Little inchy, no bleeding. Phew!
Kettle on, and I took the evening medications then, got the computer on to update this again. Did the last Health Checks. Sys still a little high, but lower than the first two checks.
Oh, the feet and Anne Gyna… but Duodenal Donald was bearable.
Got the fodder away went on Facebook catch-up then the meal was prepared and consumed.
The ‘Luxury’ fish surimi sticks were delicious and tasty. I didn’t eat all of it, left most of the potatoes, the pepper was a little too hot for me. The egg was of a plasticity and rubber texture that was unpleasant. However, I did have an orange sucker and a handful of chocolate balls afterwards.
Got the DVD going to watch some more of the Jonathan Creek episodes, the new headphones are marvellous.
Repeatedly fell asleep and had to rewind, so often I gave up trying.
Stirred at 0255hrs, Duodenal Donald giving me a lot of hassle and pain this morning.
I think I have only myself to blame perhaps; The overly seasoned beef in black bean sauce dinner from last night? As lovely as it tasted,
As beautiful as it tasted, I will resist this temptation in the future!
Out of the £300 second-hand-surely ready-to-clonk-out recliner and to the throne. The Senna taking seems to have eased things at last. I almost sang with joy at the lack of struggle and pain. Hehe! Little Inchy had been flowing a bit and needed corrective attention from the Betamethasone cream and cleaning up. But I could tell from experience, I was to suffer badly with both Duodenal Donald and Anne Gyna – when this happens together, concentration goes on holiday. Remembered I need to go to the bank to investigate the farce over the transfer of account situation. Maybe today, Lisa the manager will actually talk to me?
Found a scribbled note presumably about a dream – but could make no sense of it at all and had no memories, although I could recall one I had early last night, the one I wrote about in yesterday’s post, that was completed as my next job. The readable bits of the pencil written script was: Hill high…. stethoscope (I think), canal… towering above… flying swooping?
0445hrs: Computer activated after finishing Monday’s off, I started this one. Did some photography doctoring to use later. Then the internet connection started going off intermittently. I wished that Duodenal Donald, who was becoming very active and persistent would do the same.
Into the kitchen to take the medications and an extra few swigs of antacid in possibly a vain hope of easing the ulcer pain. Then did the Health Checks:
Sys 162 – Dia 76 – Pulse 75 – Temp 38.7 – the weighing indicated another rise.
Oh dearie me!
Had to take another swig of the antacid medicine and pondered on whether I should risk taking an extra Omeprazole, as the medicine was cutting it with the pain.
I stood looking out of the window seeking inspiration in making my choice. Later I used the W-T option and tried to take a view of the same area, this is how the photos came out:
I think I read somewhere that Omeprazole had a side effect of diarrhoea? With things loosening up so much in that department this morning, I found myself in a quandary. If I do take an extra capsule it night prove a nocive decision, it I don’t take one, I’ll be in too much pain all day with the other ailments
If I do take an extra capsule it night prove a nocive decision, if I don’t take one, I’ll be in too much pain all day with the other ailments (Anne Gyna and Roger Reflux)playing up as well. On the other hand, I might get the runs badly… then again, it might make no difference at all? Bumfuzzled my brain now!
Eventually, Duodenal Donald himself made it up for me, with a super-mega stab of pain, followed by a Donald Dizzy spell. I decided to take an extra one and another Codeine.
I decided to take an extra Omeprazole as well as and another Codeine. Just to keep himself noticed with all the ailments clambering for attention, Arthur Itis decided to have a go at the fingers as I took this photographicalisation and dropped the tablets. Luckily falling into the draw where I could retrieve them this time.
This is not going to be a good day medically speaking (I’m quick on picking these things up yer know, Hehehe).
The thought of the visit to the bank to talk to the elusive Lisa didn’t help in the clarity of logic department. Yes, I like that, I might refer to her like this: Elusive Lisa in future?
For I fear they might be more occasions to write about in this banking farce! (Getting myself wound up now, Tsk!)
Completed belatedly updating last week’s Check List.
Made another mug of tea, and pressed on with this update. The mind in a Zwodder-like state.
Did some WordPress Reading.
Then onto Facebook. Made a graphic of Pixie Mary Frieberg on the TFZer site, as she won the ball competition. I put her near the actual photograph of the implement on the table – a real Disney Angel.
Well all of them got it right actually, but Mary was first in with her bid, bless her cotton socks.
Got the ablutions tended to. Got the bank details, empty jars for the recycling bin and some painkillers in the bag. And set off to the bank and get some bread.
No one about at all, not a soul did I see in or outside the flats and Chestnut Grove… Eerie that.
Dropped the jars in the bin and down Winchester Street, across Mansfield Road and into the bank.
Fell in love with little daisies on the verge.
Inside the bank, there were about six in the standing queue, three staff serving including the Manageress Lisa. I patiently took my place at the end of it. And Lisa was still ignoring me with natural aplomb and what must be a well trained and practised, honed skill.
I had to explain everything from the start again to the young good looking fit man servicing me. Jealous? Me? He said something I didn’t catch and went into the back of the building. A few minutes later, with the customers in the queue behind me tutting and sneering in my direction, he returned and told me an advisor needs to talk to me.
Hello, I thought to myself! I was instructed to stand at the back, and she would come and fetch me. So I did.
The lady appeared within seconds and escorted me into an office and asked me to sit down – I explained it was better if I didn’t, Arthur Itis playing up, and she professionally shot me look that said: “Huh, another old fart!” It was quick, but I caught it alright. Hehe!
She explained that the Co-op had put a block on the transfer because it had taken so long. I asked her who’s fault is it that it took so long – I got another shudderingly frightening look from her, this one said: “Who the hell do you think you are!” to me. I got in with my rapid verbals: “Your bank failing to check the postcode on the I.D. from the State Pension people who I admit were also in the wrong?” I suggested before she could speak.
A pregnant pause followed. The lady recovered. Ignoring what I had said completely, told me she would ring her head office for advice on whether or not we need to start from scratch again. I was gobsmacked, especially when they told her that we did have to!
I started to make notes so as to be able to use them in this diary. She frowned and asked me if I wanted her to make notes for me? Not sure if this was genuine or sarcastic, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. She lightened her tone and asked why I was making notes – I replied something like: “The memory isn’t as good as it once was you know – paused with my mouth open and added – I want to get the details right for my Trust Pilot Report” and offered a half cheeky smile. That worked, I could see she was perplexed by this.
I wondered to myself why I was being so short and annoying, not like me at all, thought it might be the extra pains today, took a codeine out and ate it, determined to try and win back her good side, in case I needed a loan later. So I adopted a broad smile and almost laughed, and this confused the Hitlerarian dear even more. Tsk! She wasn’t Hitlerarian at all, but I just like using the word. Hahaha! Sorry.
She set about redoing the application using the details and checking them with me from the first time. Asking me if the account at the other bank was overdrawn? I impressed her when I competently fibbed: “God heavens no, I’ve over a hundred grand in it!
I must stop annoying her and get her going I swore to myself again.
After a while on her computer, she told me that the account should be open and transferred 26th April, but don’t come to see us until the 27th. Then, as I was about to leave, she started the selling spiel: Come to see me after it is operational and I’ll see if we can offer insurances cheaper than the one’s you have now!
I exited into the sunshine and the wind then went to get a small loaf of bread and some meat to tonight,s meal. Sarnies only tonight, nothing spicy I said to myself.
No small loaves, only large, no belly pork so I got a Wiejska ring.
Walked up the hill, no bus for 55 minutes yet, so walked on up and down the hill and walked up the park back to the apartments.
A few dogs taking their owners for a walk and refusing to return the thrown ball.
I love watching them.
One Alsatian ran to me and stuck his head in my bag trying to get to the meat I suspect?
He was friendly enough and took his head out when I asked him to ‘Leave’. Haha!
Turning right at the top, I hobbled down through the beloved Copse. Thickening out well now.
The entrance was a mass of nettles blooming.
I wondered at this point, how does one make Nettle Wine?
I’ll look it up later perhaps.
Ambled down through the Copse and took a photograph facing the flats. It really was so beautiful in there.
It really was so beautiful in there. The smell alone makes it worth the trip.
Came out the bottom and trying to miss treading on the buttercups and daisies, I made my way to the foyer door.
Squirrels and birds very active around the area.
Up to home and had a wee-wee, but the bits away and made a cuppa.
Found a recipe for Nettle Wine.
Sounds too complicated for me to try, not got the room or gear anyway.
How do you measure nettle tops in pints, anyway?
Got the notes I made to help me update this diary.
Got up to here, and took the evening medication with spring water.
Made another mug of tea, then cleaned up the milk and fridge where I’d managed to drop the milk bottle when Arthur Itis decided to freeze the fingers on me. Humph!
At least Duodenal Donald had eased a bit. Mustn’t eat anything spicy tonight. Hope the Wiejska and bread will be alright. I could have had a drink of milk with it, but of course, I’d dropped and spilt most of it!
Had a bash on Facebook. Lost it. Got it back again. Lost it again… gave up and did some graphicationalisationing.
Got the din-dins done.
A salad of sorts. Went down nicely.
Had a Dennis Dizzy visitation when washing the pots.
To the porcelain throne thinking I was in need of a heavy duty session – but nothing, not even any wind? Well, there was plenty from Roger Reflux, but none from the rear-end. Hehe!
Tried to watch some TV, a Victoria Wood tribute and got only a few minutes into it before I drifted off.
Having got through the night of horrendous dreams, rooftop chases, falling in the canal, underground caves, being chased in sewers, decapitated by Roman soldiers… I’m sure there were many more events that took place in my slumbers, but these ones I can recall. I think I woke up feeling wearier than I went to sleep.
0300hrs: The £300 second-hand recliner chair grumblingly and jerkily allowed me out of it to get to the porcelain. Where the news was good. No bleeding from Haemorrhoid Harold or Little Inchy. Reflux Roger was not too good, but Duodenal Daniel, Anne Gyna and Harry Hernia no bother much at all. Arthur Itis his usual self with the knees and ankles, just a bit annoyed with the hands and fingers. Overall, a great start to the day! Fingers crossed (Painfully thanks to Arthur. [Hehehe!]) Carried out the first of the health checks, all looked good.
Got the laundry stuff collected and down to the laundry room. Got the washer going and back up to the flat. Computer turned on and finished yesterday’s diary and posted it off.
Did the top photo and made a start on this one. Time to go down to move the laundry into the dryer. (0330ish) This I did, then back to the computer and worked on this diary and updated the Excel Health Check Sheet.
A final trip down to the laundry room to collect the gear and clean it up. On the way down and throughout these activities, I found myself mentally having a self-critical panegyrical discussion. Boy did I perorate with myself, no summing up or conclusions were arrived at, though. In those few minutes going down in the lift, I think I analysed and repeatedly refuted my rights to sanity? Weird that?
I retrieved the dried clothes into the bag, washed the filter and wiped around.
All done around 0415hrs or so, and back up to the flat.
Put the clobber away and made another cuppa and took the medications and creamed the areas of my masculine, the flaccid body that needed the attentions of the creams and lotions. Haha!
Back on the computer.
Decided to go out later and get some fodder in after I go to the clinic. Must make a list of things to take with me, I’ll do it now… Done it.
Ablutions were done I wrapped up well and set off for the Clinic. I forgot to take the request for new pads with me, but at least it was only one thing I forgot to take with me today… I hoped, Hehe!
I rang Warden Dean to see if I could talk with her about the meeting with the bank on Thursday, but could not get through – Try again later it said. Maybe I dialled the wrong number?
Caught the 40 bus straight to the clinic and was in and out in half an hour. A Dr Dragomir Vladimirescu, (I think) along with a nurse and several students, did the checks in no time and declared that surgery should not be expected now as things were healing so well, but to anticipate the odd bleeding sessions in times of stress? Stress, I thought, what does that mean? I asked him. Nighttime erections he said? (Oh?)
As I came out of the building to get the bus, both hearing aids bleeped to indicate they needed changing. So, bus back to the flat and changed them, luckily it timed well with the L9 to City Bound bus’s arrival, and I caught that into the Slab Square. Chinwag with a few tenants appreciated.
I had a walk around the City Centre (And I mean walk, not hobble, as Arthur Itis was being kind to me today, bless him) and ended up at M&S’s Foodhall, feeling a bit of sorrow for the Big Issue selling bloke at the entrance and handed him a bit of cash.
Spent far too much, I blame Marks & Spencers for selling Sour Dough bread, Best Beef Steak Lasagnes, leeks, swedes, Lemon Swiss Rolls and Lamb Moussaka. Never had this before, but it looks similar to Lasagne, so I should like it I hope.
I noticed when packing the things I’d bought, into the bags at the check-out, that this, as well as the lasagne, had three red warnings on the content label thingamajig on the box label. Oh, dear? Plenty of life on them all, well, four days.
I caught a bus, (oh I do love my free pensioner’s bus pass) into Arnold and called in to get some roast cooked belly pork slices. Popped into Fulton Food Stores and got four small jars of Silverskin Onions in pickled vinegar for only £1, bargain there I thought!
Went to catch the L9 bus back to the flats, but it did not arrive? Whilst waiting at the bus stop, Anne Gyna started off giving me bother, rather badly bless her. I caught a bus into the City Centre, then the L9 from Queen Street back to the flats. Got in and took some extra Codeine Phosphate. The Morphine Sulphate would have been a lot better, Anne Gyna seemed to be persisting so they have taken me off of this, in preparation for the operation later, so I’m not complaining… or am I? Hehehe!
Anne Gyna seemed to be persisting. I could not concentrate to read the book, so got the fodder done earlier than usual.
I had this vegetarian meal with a roast cooked belly pork sandwich. Naughtily did some oven chips, too many perhaps, but I ate it all.
My Dad used to call me a ‘Gannet! He was right.(All very good, including the Silverskin onions in pickling vinegar with peppers!)
Sudden tiredness overcame me as I was watching the TV, but still, I could not get to sleep until well gone midnight again, thanks to Anne Gyna.
Didn’t nod off until well gone midnight again, woke with a start around 0200hrs in urgent need to utilise the porcelain, scrambled out of the £300 second-hand rickety recliner chair and made it to the throne, and amazingly the trots were replaced with rock cement! How one can go from eight hours of the trots to the opposite so quickly I have no idea. Tsk!
While waiting for the action, bits of the dream I’d been having came to mind. The muddy fields were there again, but other people were with me and instructing me how to get out of a muddy crater they had thrown me into, each time I got out they told my I’d done it wrong and lobbed me back in to get it right?
Up properly at 0400hrs. I rubbed some pain-gel in the knees and made a cuppa, carried out the health checks and made a nice cuppa as I got the computer going, then took the medications.
I’d got messages in reply to yesterday’s diary from Duncan and Tim, both helping me with the Excel Health spreadsheet formatting on how to add different cells together and divide them into an average. Tried it and it worked! Many thanks, lads, cheered me up a bit this did.
Then, the stomach started rumbling and I had a dizzy at the same time, this confused me a bit. Don’t want any physical bother today with all the jobs I’ve got to do. Got to go to a new bank to sort out the fiscal difficulties, the Dentist to check on the appointment day and time… checked in the Google calendar, now I’ve found out how to access it in G Suite. Sad innit, Hehe?
Core blimus, so much to get done, I bet I’ll be catching up still on Tuesday.
The weather forecast on the web looked not too nice.
I carried out the ablutions, shave, teggies shower etc, medicated the areas in with a requirement of the same (Hehe!).
Sorted the waste bins out, bagged them and took them disposed of them down the rubbish chute.
Got my list of jobs wanting to be done, wrapped myself up and got as far as the lifts when I realised I had the wrong glasses on. Back to the flat and changed them.
Out again and got as far again, when I realised I had not taken the bank details, so back once again and collected them.
Outside and walked to the glass recycle bin with the bottles and jars. Then to the Winwood Centre Shed to try and talk with Warden Deans about the TV Licence letter and advice on the Bank problems. She was helping a resident so I sat waiting and had a go at the crossword book. OBegruppenfureress Julie came in and asked “What do you want? Come on hurry up I’m busy…” I showed her the TV Licence letter, she said forget it. Told her about the banking problems, she said for me to go to the Co-op Bank and ask them – the Deana was temporarily free, although waiting on the phone for someone and said no need to go to the bank and I was to let her know if and when I get any TV licence money rebate.

Confused again… Hehe!
This is the route and calls/stops made on my morning hobble:
I got some nice Polish bread and belly pork with peppers from the Continental Food Shop. Then to the Bank across the road and asked the cashier if I could talk with someone about moving all my cash and accounts to their bank. She disappeared a few moments and returned telling me to take a seat. I met a lady tenant of the flats and as we nattered a chap appeared, shook my hand and with pound-signs spinning and twinkling in his eyes, led me into a little room for a talk. After asking me to bring in my current UK driving Licence and Passport, and my telling him I own neither nowadays, he was not put-out, and asked me to bring a current Council Tax Bill and a State Pension Letter that gives details of the pension for this year. He arranged the meeting for this Thursday at 1000hrs. He said he would show me their internet banking and how to use it and get things sorted with me, it should, he say’s take only 2 and half hours to arrange, then, seven complete days later it should all be in place up and running. I felt the chap looked and sounded like a used car salesman, bless him.
Out of the bank (Confused a tad), and up to the Post Office and asked them if they could read the senders name and address on a package I wish to send something back to in return, they could not.
I left there and crossed over the road and called in the Co-op store and got some Pork & Liver Pate, Shortcake biscuits, tomatoes and apples.
Up the hill to the Dentists to confirm the date of my next appointment. The young rather attractive lady on the reception printed it out for me Wednesday 8th March 2017 09:00hrs. A different dentist this time, Dr Vitish Patel. (When I got back later I Googled the name and got: About 82,900,000 results [0.79 seconds])
As I came out to continue up and over the Mansfield Road hill to go through Woodthorpe Park back to the flats, an elderly lady had taken a tumble at the bus stop. Already several people tending to her thankfully. I felt so sorry for her.
At least I’d got some things that needed doing started today, and felt a little lifted in spirits and less frustrated with life now.
Turned right and up the footpath towards the turn off to the flats. So many dogs walking their owners about today, I spent a while watching them.
As I went right to go down the gravel footpath to the flats, I took a photographicalisation of my favourite little copse with the blocks of flats in the background. The grass was thickening I think a little.
Looking forward so much to when it gets overgrown and full of plant life and animal life for me to walk through and hope to see.
As I hobbled down the pathway, Anne Gyna started to give me some hassle along with Roger Reflux and Arthur Itis, they all seemed to start off at the same time after all being so kind to me earlier. Humph! This put an end to my plans to go out again and get more jobs done today! Shame!
Got in and gave Olive a ring, I hope she is alright she sounded it and said she was feeling better… but she didn’t tell me off about anything. Hehehe!
Cleaned the kitchen floor, then onto the Computer to update this twaddle.
Pondered on what to have for nosh, def the pate and pork
Made the salad and took a photograph of it without the card in the camera. Tsk!
Carried out a messy search for the items needed for the bank on Thursday, I think I have them all now.
Feeling drained now, but in better spirits, I settled to watch some DVD then TV.
I lasted about an hour or so before nodding off into a dream filled sleep.
