0330hrs: Stirred, lay there doing my best to recall details of the dream I’d been having; something about me being chased in a skyscraper full of office corridors? Haven’t had one like this for ages, but, any real memories were too vague.
Fell off to sleep again (another uniqueness for me, nodding off again).
0530hrs: Came back to life, of sorts with a jolt. Found rubbish all around the £300 second-hand recliner again. I’d been nibbling, that was obvious by the crumbs and wrappers generously scattered around on the carpet, the chair and me. I can’t remember eating at all, let alone fetching the biscuits to eat?
Off for a wee-wee and heavy duty session. Little Inchy was raw and sore, but no bleeding again. Haemorrhoid Harold only bled the tiniest bit. I could tell Duodenal Donald was building up for an attack. However, Reflux Roger, Arthur Itis and Anne Gyna were in a good mood – and, no signs of Constipation Konrad either. So no complaints there.
To the kitchen, where I rinsed out the mucked-up oven mitt things from the bowl where I’d left them to soak. Drying them was a problem, how to? I put the clothes airer on and balanced them on top.
Did the health Checks: Sys 145, Dia 79, Pulse 88, Temp 35.6 and the weight was 14.8lb
Mephitic emissions of the wind from the rear arrived unexpectedly. The aroma seemed to linger all day. Tsk!
Computer activated. Checked on which programme if any the Scotland v England match would be on. I was delighted when I found out it was on ITV tonight. A hard game for me in some ways to watch. I have a great liking for the Welsh and Scottish teams. The likes of Andy Lochhead (My favourite, a great old fashioned centre forward), such a shame he was not selected for the Scottish Squad, he did get just one under-23 match in.
But his going South of the Border made him a de trop to the selectors, I’m much afraid.
Ian Ure and Dennis Law were both great defenders, too. Jim Baxter was fantastic in his hey-day. So, I’ll be unhappy whichever way the match goes… unless it is a draw? Haha! Others that come immediately to mind: Welsh: Terry Hennessey, Ronnie Rees, Dean Saunders. Scottish: Kenny Burns, Peter Cormack, Archie Gemmill, Frank Gray, John Robertson, Kenny Dalglish, Tommy Dockerty, etc. Ah, good times!
Nipped into the kitchen to pod the peas and get them cooking in the Crock-Pot. I also put some Jersey potatoes in the saucepan to boil.
Hence the advice on the left here.
Another wee-wee and back on the computer.
Updated this diary. Then caught up with WordPress reading.
Checked on the cooking and saw that I had not turned on the power to the cooker. Ah-well, done now!
Onto Facebooking then. Spent hours on it enjoying myself.
Went to check on the fodder’s progress.
You recall how I forgot to turn on the power to the cooker earlier to do the spuds? Well, I didn’t turn on the oven when I put the lamb nosh into it either! Gerrin’ fed up with missen today!
Cooking now, though.
Scoffed the lot of it, a yoghourt, some bisuits and some nougat too!
Back onto CorelDraw 2017, but coud not concentrate very well. Perhaps the expectations of the upcoming Interernational twixt Scotland and England later?
Nodded off and dreamt of Sister Jane and me living together with our beloved Auntie Kath, I was the butler and we were all so happy doing things we never did before together.
Woke, took the medications, did the Health Checks and visited the Porcelain Throne and settled to watch the match on the gogglebox. The abutions can wait now, ’cause the match is due to start.
The match itself was wonderful to watch, with the most exciting last twenty minutes I’ve watched of a match since the 1966 World Cup Final.
But the aftermath saddened me so.
It happens that the authorities had sent some Metropolitan Police officers to Glasgow in case of terrorist activity, so it seems, up to now to me, that they coped with the vandals and yobboes reasonably well. Took the edge off of my enjoyment, to think about this return of mindless hooliganism and hatred.
The so called fans were even rioting when on holiday in Magaluf!
Did the ablutions with mixed emotions, happiness at seeing a great match and agreeing with the score for once, loathing and not understanding of the rioters, satisfaction at the good tasty meal… cut myself shaving due to lack of attention. It took a lot of stopping, had to resort to the aftershave, need a new bottle now. Hehe!
Shaved, teggies done, ear-holes cleared, Little Inchy medicated and showered, I got the nightweat on. (Well, it was nippy tonight).
Head down in the £300 second-hand recliner. (It’s lasting well for a cheapo bargain is this chair) But, I could not get to sleep thinking alternatively about the great match, the fighting hooligans and the newly attacking Duodenal Donald. I don’t know if it is the fodder or the vandals that started him off, but by gum, he’s back with a vengeance. Took an extra 40mg Omeprazole.
I’ve been on this medication along with so many others for about 13 years now, looked it up to see if any alternative is available on the NHS. Got side tracked with this page on the left here: Methinks I might have a word with the pharmacist or doctor on my next visit.
I Googled for any Omeprazole alternatives. It seems that almonds and almond milk after eating has helped some people get off of this drug. Thaty should it says, only be taken for short periods; And my doctor has had me on it for 13 years plus?
Another suggestion was deglycyrrhizinated licorice, DGL? Never heard of it, but this is more for Roger Reflux than the ulcer. Then they suggest Apple Cider Vinegar, but it must be organic. Each time I ask about Omeprazole, it relates again to the reflux valve and not the duodenal ulcer, so I put in the search; Duodenal Ulcer Medications UK. Andthere it was, but only as an antacid. Confused now. Tsk!
0400hrs: Woke, no memories of any dreams, the stomach rumbled, and I got put off the £300 second-hand recliner with high hope of achieving a passing on the Porcelain Throne, so off I hobbled to it, taking care not to stub the toe en route, or on the way back.
Still a painful, but successful visit, if another rather long one in urging things to happen. Haemorrhoid Harold bled a lot less than of late. Cleansed and medicated me up. Hehe!
Duodenal Donald was letting me know he’d be about hassling me today.
Took the medications and carried out the Health Checks. The weight had gone down a bit, not before time.
Made a brew of tea, and looked at the Google Calendar. Morrison delivery is coming twixt 0700>0800hrs, Vote in Elections and Extra INR blood test at the surgery 0950hrs.
I mused over the Voting and considered which of the unreliable lying nihilists to vote for this time… not that I really had to ponder over my choice. Just a hatred of having choices of which none met my criteria of being votable… Huh! Working family roots will prevail methinks.
Got the ablutions done.
Got the nibbles in the bag for the electoral staff and nurses.
Shelled the pod peas and into the Crock-Pot in water and a bit of demerara sugar.
Opened the Emails and did some WordPress reading.
All ready for the Morrison delivery to arrive.
The rain seemed to be easing when I made another mug of tea.
Made sure that the things needed were in the bag: nibbles, brolly, hat, collapsable walking stick, DVT Card and Health Check Record for the nurse and the crossword book.
Got the last bag of the Purple Chips that I bought for Jenny and Frank to try, then rang Jenny to see if she would be in this morning. She said she would, so I went up to the fifteenth floor with the chips and a free small can of lager delivered by Morrison, but I did not recognise the outside of the flat?
Came down to my own pad to see if I could find the number of Jenny’s and Franks flat on some paperwork (Also put in the hearing aids I’d forgotten to earlier). Picked up the bag and Voting Card and nibbles. Then I set off to check each floor. On the ninth floor, a chap got into the lift and pressed for the ground floor. I asked him if he knew which was Jenny’s flat and he lived next door to them on the ninth floor.
Back up to the ninth and dropped off the things at the proper unit. I did feel such a fool! Tsk!
When I got down to the foyer, and outside, the rain had stopped altogether. Walked to the Voting Shed, and found different people there today and they had laid things out differently: Without thinking, I said to them as I entered: “Oy! You’ve changed things around this time! I’m not having this; we aged old farts can get confused, muddled and addled very quickly, you know! They burst out laughing and smiles appeared on their faces. Gave them my election card and one of them said: “There you are, five booths to pick from, all free, Make your choice Sir!” I rubbed my chin exaggeratedly and put on a frown saying: “Er, erm…” More laughter rang out. I voted and posted the sheet in the box and gave them a bag of nibbles!
Said my cheery cheerio’s and out and off down Chestnut Walk onto and down Winchester Street Hill.
The high winds had caused more havoc nd damage again last night. Debris scattered all over the roadway.
Down to the bottom of the hill and noticed as I approached the traffic light corner to turn left, that I had not taken the bank papers with me.
So I didn’t call at the bank. Humph!
I still had plenty of time to hobble up Mansfield Road and down into Carrington with time to spare.
So I had a leisurely amble.
At the corner of Haydn Road, I espied some traffic and altercation that was taking place near the school gates.
Probably just busy.
I pressed on up the hill, and by the time I’d covered about 300 yards or so, six police vehicles with klaxons and the blues on passed on the journey toward the City Centre?
Just over the brow of the hill, a Nottingham Pavement Cyclist nearly had me over. Tsk!
A few hundred yards further down the hill and in Carrington; So many police cars belted by I could not count them!
I did manage to get the camera out and caught the blue lights of the last one on the convoy
as they had to use the opposite side of the road to get through the traffic.
Got into the surgery with 20 minutes to spare. Logged in and got seated with the crossword book extracted from the bag and pen in hand.
After only five minutes the nurse came and called it to go in.
It was not the usual nurse this time, but the Obergrupenfurheress one. SFA Time! Shudder, Fear & Apprehension! Hehe!
She took the blood, I gave her the nibbles and returned to the receptionist. I explained that the Anticoagulation card I am supposed to carry with all the time is getting a little tatty and the lettering is coming off of it. Could you advise me where to get another one from, please? “The Queens Medical Anticoagulation and Deep Vein Thrombosis Clinic on the fourth floor” she informed me. Thanked her, departed and limped to the Lidl Store to have a perusal of what they had on offer.
I got little carried away in there, I’m afraid. Got three raffle prize nibbles, Nougat sweeties, piccolo tomatoes, Lemon Curd Yoghourts, Frikadellens, Choc Hobnob Creams and a lamb hotpot. £11.47 spent. Boldy (And as it turned out foolishly) I tried to use the self-serve till again, being as I had no end of lose change. Got the stuff swiped in alright, but when it came to paying, it took the £10 note but kept spewing out the change I put in! Sometimes holding a coin and the total to pay kept changing! After trying about eight times, I had to ask an assistant or help. When I told her what was occurring, the look on her face shouted out at me: “Oh, Christ, not again!”
We tried again between us, several times and in the end, she got it to accept the coins after I had to change the ones I was putting in!
Out, in a foul mood and caught the bus back into Sherwood. Still, the rain kept off!
Dropped off in Sherwood and got a second-hand cup from the Charity shop.
Then and crossed over the pelican lights and to the bus stop. Three other tenants there waiting, and a good laugh and chinwag ensued. Two more joined us. The bus came, and we were soon back at the flats battling the wind to get inside them. Haha!
Squashed into the lift and we were still laughing and joking, I like it when this happens.
In number 72 and had a wee-wee first. Ten put the fodder away after selecting the lamb hotpot and some potato balls and putting them into an oven tray to cook later. The Crock-Pot was bubbling away with the Jersey potatoes, pod peas and mushrooms.
The computer on to update this diary up to here.
Used the new cup and made a gorgeous, strong cup/mug of tea, using the last of the 99 tea bags.
Must get some more tomorrow!
Checked the nosh, not ready yet.
Looked later and it seemed to be ready, got the oven food into the dish, made and added some gravy, then the mushroom, peas and potatoes.
Superb tasting fodder this was. Rated at 9/10. Minced lamb hotpot with extra potatoes of two types. Sourdough bread and a lemon yoghourt.
Watched some TV and the phone rang before I could fall asleep (Hehe!) but I could not get to it in time before the damned thing went to answerphone. Struggled to find out how to listen to it. Eventually getting into it, and putting the hearing aids in and the message I heard was; “Nothing to be heard!”? Methinks it night have been the surgery, DVT clinic or the Anticoagulation Unit about the INR Warfarin blood test results?
Took the evening medications, unsure of what Warfarin tablets to take, not knowing the results like, I took half the dose, no idea if I’ve done right or wrong.
Watched some telly in between nod-offs. Woke with a start and a raging hunger?
Which I found confusing bearing in mind the decent sized meal I’d had a while ago. Raided the fridge and made a brew, then nibbled away as I fell asleep again watching the TV.
After a long nod-off, I changed channels to the election results… and had a few kips in between watching them.
Into the morning now, I checked on the final results locally:
To the Porcelain Throne, with good results, I think that Constipation Konrad is leaving me now. Hopefully, the ‘Trotskies‘ will not replace Konrad! Even Haemorrhoid Harold was only bleeding the tiniest bit.
Stirred, still feeling a bit tired around 0425hrs. Again, no memories of any dreams, just a feeling that I had, had some?
Off for a wee-wee.
Took the medications and luckily spotted I had put the evening doses (The midday ones were okay) in the morning doses pots the other day in error. So I set about changing them.
It had apparently been raining most of the night.
Still drizzling a bit. I’ll have to get the big coat on or remember to take the brolly with me when I go to the surgery for the INR blood test. Cause it is a 38-minute walk to get there.
To the Porcelain Throne to tend to an imminent motion. Not so bad this morning… not easy or painless mind, but improving methinks. I hope.
Got the nibble in the bag for the nurses, then got the computer on. Checked the Emails first.
One from Iceland telling of some red potato chips they are selling. I found the idea appetising. Never heard of Bergerac Potatoes, I might go on to Bulwell after the doctors and see if I can get some to try?
Carried out the Health Checks next. The weight had shot up a bit, but all else looked okay to me:
Sys 151, Dia 76, Pul 91, T 35.8 & Weight 14.82.
Another wee-wee.
Started to update the diaries then began this one. Did some WordPressing. Off for another wee-wee. (Getting worrying all this wee-weeing? Hehe!)
Yet another wee-wee.
I decided that if I am to get some of those Purple Chips later, will get some pod peas podded and into the slow-cooker with some demerara sugar in them, and if I’ll remember. I can turn them on when I leave. Good idea?
Unbelievably, I had another wee-wee! Problems here perhaps? I’d better mention this to the nurse later.
Soon be time to do the ablutions, so a not to be late setting off on the hobble into Carrington for the blood test. A quick bash on Facebooking.
Updated some photo albums, then shot off (Well, hobbled) to the wetroom for the good in-depth ablutionisationing session and a wee-wee.
Got the new coat on and collected the bag and set out on the hobble to Carrington and the surgery.
As I passed the Chestnut Trees, the damage caused by the winds overnight and this morning were visible. Made me feel a bit sad.
Onward and down Winchester Street Hill into Sherwood and left up and over the long incline and down into Carrington. The rain didn’t stop at all, but it was far less severe than earlier, but the winds continued to be high and vigorous.
Logged in at surgery and sat having a go at the crossword book. Actually did rather well progress wise for a change. The nurse called me in. We had a chinwag while she took the blood, gave her her nibbles and was off. The nurse had a bit of a job stopping the bleeding afterwards.
Gave the reception team their bag of fodder to gnaw on as I left the building, out into the now heavier rain and winds.
I thought to myself, it would be advantageous to me if I went to the Arnold Iceland store instead of the one at Bulwell, then I could catch an L9 bus back all the way to the flats. Walked to the bus stop and caught a bus into Arnold. Got the crossword book out again. Looked up and realised I’d gotten onto the wrong bus. Humph! I had to drop off well away from where I intended to, and walk for about a mile up and down the hills, in the rain and wind back to Arnold.
Oh, I was annoyed with me! Tut!
The torrential rains now were stopping me using the camera with nowhere to shelter, until I got to the open market.
Purchased some fresh pod garden peas from here.
Checked on the time, and if was to catch the L9, haste was needed at the Iceland store in getting the Purple Chips. It took me a while to find the chip freezer, and I bought some mini pork & Pickle pies and a pack of two beef patties en route to finding the chips, of which I bought two packets.
To the checkout and paid using the Visa by swiping, as it was only a total spend of £5 exactly.
Hobbled as speedily as the now aching feet would allow me, and got to the bus stop with three minutes to spare!
As the bus arrived in Sherwood, two fellow tenants got on the bus.
Ethel and Roy, it was like a family meeting with much joviality and banter ricocheting between the three of us.
Quite cheered me up, that session did.
Back at the flats, all three of us struggled with the gusting winds from the bus to the foyer. Roy told me that the winds on his 14th floor were howling through to noisily this morning.
Got into the apartment, took a wee-wee, midday medications and got the oven warming up for the chips.
The computer on and updated this diary. An hour or so later put the chips into the oven and set the alarm for 15 minutes.
Had a wee-wee. A quick blast on Facebook, then got the meal served up.
Had to cook the chips for awhile longer, still soft.
Got the meal served up!
The purple chips looked really odd and out of place.
They did not have much taste to them. Sorry that I got two packs now. Tsk!
Had a rinse and a wee-wee and noticed one hell of a bruise on the top of the leg?
Fell asleep, woke up feeling frigid. Tried to make use of the Porcelain Throne, but only succeeded in getting things blocked again, and had a battle that needed patience and gave up after a long time trying.
Got the Gogglebox on and fell asleep again. Woke up needing a wee-wee, and the phone chirped-up. Out of the £300 second-hand recliner and answered it. T’was from the Thrombosis & Anticoagulation test centre, telling me my INR level was… wait for it bearing in mind the target is 3.5… now, 9.1! Argh! She said not to take any Warfarin tonight – which just goes to display my luck, I’d taken the Warfarin already! Warned me to take care shaving, of banging, cutting or scraping myself and if I did, I must contact the three 9’s for assistance.
Also, I must go to the doctor’s surgery and have another INR blood test on Thursday. I explained that I didn’t think they could fit me in at such short notice, and she said they will have to!
I got the computer back on and sent an Email to the surgery.
Time to take the greatest of efforts not to stub my toe for a few days and be weary and steady when shaving. Humph! No wonder I feel so cold now, with the blood being so thin. Thinking of whether I should go out for tomorrow’s Tenant’s meal or not?
Tried again to make use of the Porcelain Throne. No movement at all, even after a long effort during which I found there are 489 tiles in the wetroom. Haha!
Updating this diary and the surgery rang me in response to the Email and the Anticoagulation new dosage. It is the same doses as last week? I explained about the call from the hospital and being told to book in for a blood test for Thursday – she said no, it has got to be for tomorrow! She stated that they could get me in for 1130hrs – I told her about the Tenant’s Meal in Arnold at midday, and she made an appointment for Thursday at 1000hrs?
When I put the details on the calendar, I realised I had not left myself much time to get to and from the hospital tests for the Deep Vein Thrombosis? Oh, heck!
Still, thinking about this, it goes a way to explain the increase in Dizzy Derek visits… I think? The wee-weeing so often; thought the thin blood might have something to do with this, but maybe not.
Feeling very confused and concerned with the lack of movement from the innards, and feeling cold, I’ve actually put on my dressing gown now, the rain has stopped and the evening sunshine came out.
Going to try and get my head down early, even for me, but after all the kerfuffle, I didn’t feel tired anymore? Up for a wee-wee, washed up and got the Gogglebox on again.
The winds still howling away outside, the rain a falling and me having to take extra care to avoid physical Accifauxpas and Whoopsiedangleplops… Is it asking a lot of me innit?
The dozing soon started, drifted off and when I woke ten minutes later I recalled a War & Peace length dream and wrote some bits down on the pad. In the morning when I got around to updating this diary, the memories written down once again were unreadable. Bits I could recall were few, involved an Austin A30 van and my head without a torso climbing out of a pram? Did this graphic for a bit of fun.
Dozed repeatedly through the programmes I wanted to watch, went for a wee-wee and turned off the telly and sat there thinking will I be able to get to sleep properly with so many nod-offs…. Zzzz!
Woke at 0410hrs: Bits of a dream lingered for a while but departed my brain within seconds. These were replaced with the determination to get the washing done as soon as possible.
0420hrs: Out of the £300 second-hand recliner. No washing, medicationalisationing or kettle put on – I gathered the laundry bag, made sure the accoutrements were added to it and hobbled down to the laundry room. Still feeling bad in and about myself for the joke going wrong with the lovely hygiene gals being upset. Got the washer going and returned back up and got the computer going and started the diaries.
.0455hrs: Back down and moved the stuff from the washing machine to the dryer and got that started. Some notices had been moved on the board
Some notices had been moved on the board.
One about Repair Priorities. And the now classified list, with the new times, shown.
The other was just a reminder that repairs are now the Tenant’s Responsibility to report their own repairs.
I thought about the difficulty I had hearing the person on the other end of the line last time I did this and was prompted to remember that I have got to search for the hearing aid tubes and if I can find them, replace the broken one on the right-hand aid.
Up and did the Health Checks then started this blog off.
Looking good, even the weight is down a bit.
Down to collect the dried laundry – but oh dear… it was not dried fully at all! But the cycle back on and back up the lift.
Did some WordPressing then I returned back down to the laundry room, to find the clothing no drier than it was before?
Tsk!
Got it folded and cleaned the filter out.
Back up to the apartment and got both of the airers utilises as well as the airing cupboard. In an effort to get the things dry enough to wear later.
Made a brew and took the medications.
To the porcelain throne and only Haemorrhoid Harold was bleeding, The Senna’s had done their job.
Back on the computer and updated this diary.
Got an email about the Morrison delivery on its way. Delivery arrived.Got the Canadian
Got the Canadian Buckwood Maple Syrup in, I plan to use it in plain yoghourt, but I will ask some of the Canadian TFZers on Facebook if they have any suggestions for its use too.
Also, thought it wise to get some more of those horrendous safety knickers in stock.
Being as Little Inchy’s lesion has started bleeding again, better safe than sorry eh?
They sent large instead of extra large this time, I didn’t notice until I took the photograph.
Tsk!
I’ll use one today after the ablutions and see if they will fit, or if I will fit into them.
Hehehe!
Embarrassing I know, but they can save an awful lot of cleaning up in the long run.
Got onto CorelDraw sorting again. Spent hours on it once more. The CorelPaint crashed on me at one time, but I think it might have been due to my getting the shakes just as I was selecting an option, and hit it twice?
Opened it up again and all worked.
Had to remember to keep moving the damp clothes around on the airers.
Eventually gave up on CorelDraw defaulting and finished off the diary and updated this one to here.
Did a poem to go with WordPress, I called it: The Nape of Existence. A bit of fun, even it was true. Haha!
Then I got around to catching up on Facebook. Hours and hours it took, but all in the name of depriving me of suffering from depression… Blimey, Did I say that?
Nipped in to have a wee-wee before setting off to the Tenants Meeting Social Hour, and, . The scar had opened badly on Little Inchy and the blood had flowed. Had a right mess to clean up and medicate! Took me that long the meeting was only ten minutes away from ending by the time I got there! Grumph! Hand time to pose with the others for a photo for the builders? Give the nibbles out and the raffle prizes to Obergruppenfureress Penny to use next week, and everyone was leaving.
I got myself back to the abode and checked Little Inchy and he was at it again. Tsk!
Made a cuppa, and saw that I had left the Strawberry flavoured vanilla filled suckers delivered earlier on the window ledge, instead of putting them in the freezer!
Another ! All eight were now liquid in bags that leaked!
I was not having a good day at all. I was already depressed with my humour cock-up, the laundry room farce and having things drying all over the place, virtually missed the Social Hour and the Virus scar bleeding again. Not good! I could not muster any enthusiasm or interest at all. Then I remembered I’ve got to do the Facebooking. But even that didn’t do much to cheer me up.
I moved the clothes around on the airers, getting some of the thicker ones out of the airing cupboard and putting the removed ones into it – but automatically as if I had resigned myself to everything going wrong, and had no idea how to stop them. Odd?
Made a mug of tea and got on Facebook.
Did some more CorelDraw 2017 updating.
Feeling morose, annoyed with me and thinking silly thoughts, although at the time they were perfectly logical thoughts.
A friend contacted me and suggested I tell the doctor everything. But this will not take away the stupid decisions and practical jokes gone wrong or self-loathing, will it? I appreciated so much his contacting me, but the shadow of hopelessness loomed. Never felt like this before.
I sat a while thinking about things, the negative thoughts mounted and soon the brain was in freefall – I had to stop myself getting into a rut of… well, I don’t know.
I’m going to the surgery on Monday for the INR blood test, and promised Lynton I’d book myself in, to see the Doctor Vindla. Musn’t let him or myself down after he’s taken the time, bother and shown such compassion for me. (Hope that’s the right word?).
Not been out, apart from on the site for days now.
Made a meal.
Threw away the hunters sausages after one bite, far too fatty.Didn’t eat the cheese.
Didn’t eat the cheese.
Thought I might start nibbling again later, but only had a bag of Marmite crisps, so depressed with things.
Foolish thoughts came and went, suddenly the balcony was tempting.
I might get this diary done, then stop doing them until something is sorted, I do not want to broadcast doom and gloom, I want to make people smile and laugh. Finding this hard myself limits the scope.
Got a shower shave and did the teeth, in sort of automatic mode?
More terrible thoughts permeated the brain as I settled down.
Woke at 0425hrs: The swelling legs had gone down a bit and were far less painful this morning. I think Anne Gyna knew this, cause she was giving me some nasty painful stabs, bless her.
Got out of the £300 second-hand recliner with little bother, and into the kitchen to put the kettle on, turned on the computer and then off to the porcelain throne. Oh dear. Haemorrhoid Harold had and was still bleeding a fair bit, but not enough to make me discard any clothing. Cleaned up and medicated what needed medicating.
Made a nice strong mug of tea and took the medications. At this point, the legs started to give me some bother again. Tsk! Found a note on the 1960 second-hand E-Plan sideboard, with scribble about a dream on it? How it found it’s way onto the sideboard I wasn’t sure?
Got the WordPress going to finish yesterday’s post off, and realised I must have got up last night and wrote about the dream, cause the writing was there in front of me in the diary? A good job I did, because I could never have gleaned so much detail from the scribble I’d wrote.
The tea had gone cold, so I went to make another one. Did the health-checks while I was in there. Dia 169 – Sys 75 – Pulse 89 – Temp 38.1 C, and the best of the lot, Weight 14.75, down at last! I’ll do it again later if I remember, cause I’d not long got rid of a hell of a dollop on the throne.
Remembered I’d got two deliveries coming this morning from Asda and Morrison. So had a wash and changed into the day clothes so as not to answer the door in my jammies.
Finished off yesterday’s diary and started this one off. Realised I’d not put on the picture of last evening’s sky, so I took another one of it.
The Copse is getting thicker now, I’ll soon be able to have a wander through it in search of flora and fauna to photographalise.
I’ve ordered a new kettle in one of the deliveries, cause the one I have seems to be resisting my descaling efforts nowadays.
Had a bash on Facebook for a few hours. The Morrison delivery arrived, followed by the Asda (Walmart) one.
Overdone it again!
Made another brew and weighed myself again… 2lb up on three hours ago and I have not eaten anything? Grumph! Mind you, I can feel the legs and ankles swelling again?
Graphic created for the TFZer site. Took me hours with one, but it ain’t too bad.
Got the washing ready and down to the laundry room. Fellow tenant Paul was there, had a quick chinwagging session.
Back up to the flat and finished the above graphic.
Postman called with the Stat pension letter.
I opened it with trepidation… they had got the right Postcode on it! But the wrong detail sheet! I swore so much!
Down once more to collect the washing. Cleaned the filter.
Back in flat, put the togs away and called Olive to see how she was and tell her about the continuing banking farce.
I can visit her tomorrow, in the morning.
Got ready and went down to the bank, just hoping this State Pension form with the correct address would be suitable for the job!
Feeling a bit down for some reason, and I’d been so high earlier?
The sun was shining, and the wind a blowing as I departed on my hobble to and down Winchester Street Hill and to the bank to see Lisa, the new manager.
At the end of Winchester Street, three rascals speeding down the hill on the pavement forced me to move across the road. Little varmints!
Fair queue when I got into the bank. Only one on the counter. Ten minutes or so later, Lisa opened another window, tended to the chap in front of me and another 10 minutes later, she beckoned me over to the counter. I managed to keep those behind waiting another 20 minutes as she sorted the paperwork out and asked for some forms they had already taken six weeks ago and photocopied, so she could photocopy them!?!?
She ‘Thought’ the newly arrived State Pension breakdown detail letter should be acceptable. She will ring me and if it goes through and let me know. Again, I asked if it would be possible to email me, but no. Told her about the Doctor being off sick so I might not get the required details from her, and that is if she agrees to do them for me, no obligation on her part to do it.
So, I said I would drop in at the bank, on Monday afternoon to find out what is happening. I am not in an unexpectant, but rather a nervous frame of mind now, no confidence left.
Peeped into the Birds Cake Shop window, jus tin case they had any of the Fresh Cream Iced Buns in, but they hadn’t. Naturally, I took this in good spirits.
Cried on my way up to the bus stop. (Not really, but I thought you might find this funny and like a laugh?)
Back at the flats, I was nearly blown off my feet by the wind.
The sun was still bright, but when I got back up to the apartment, I could hear the winds howling. But the scenery was gorgeous to look at.
I couldn’t get my head around the fact that I had not bought any fodder, well, anything at all while out. Another odd sensation for me. Hehe!
Updated the diary for Monday next on my Google page.
Looks like a busy Monday coming up.
Updated this diary after making a jolly strong mug of tea.
The legs and ankles were I think less swollen now, hurting all the same and irritating Arthur Itis, though. Humph!
Took the potatoes out of the saucepan, ready to have with a cold meal later on. (Or Not?)
Not sure what I’m going to have with them mind, but there is plenty to choose from.
Put the Lumix camera and mobile phone on charge and visited the porcelain again.
Haemorrhoid Harold leaking just a bit, Little Inchy not bleeding, but sore.
Popped on Facebook being as I was amazingly not too tired.
Did some WordPressing.
Took the evening medications, finished on Facebooking and got the fodder prepared.
I accidentally had two of the lemon drizzles afterwards.
A mere misfortune that could happen to anyone. Ahem!
This meal consisted of mini-pork and caramelised onion, mushrooms, beetroot, boiled potatoes (Not done in Soy Sauce, Orb has advised me not to use this for a while as it contains a lot of sodium) sliced and drizzled with American potato seasoning, tomato puree, Vegetable sage & onion with herbs slices and soft cheese portions one with mushroom, one extra strong and one with Gouda. Oh, and the Lemon Drizzles and a banana. Nice! 9.5/10.
Tired, but I think the legs and ankles are reducing in size and water content again. Fingers crossed.
Woke at 0400hrs, disappointed in not recalling the dreams at all. Took the morning medications.
Got the washing clothing and things ready to go down to the laundry Room. Down and got the machine going. The washers and dryers are now free to use! Well, not actually, they are putting the cost on the rent increasing it by £5.
Then back up to the apartment and did a search for the Lumix camera I used last night to photographicalise the meal. Got into a right state when I could not find it (Again!)Tsk! However, I thought at first during the search underneath the 1962 E-plan sideboard, that I’d found another garden pea – but no, it was a wooden bead. Which caused me more confusion, because as far as know, I’ve never had any of these in the flat?
30 minutes later I returned downstairs to move the things into the dryer. Mable from the 8th floor was doing her washing, and she asked me if I would let her use the big dryer. No problem at all, I’d not got much in the wash anyway. I put the clobber in the small dryer. We had a chat on the way back up in the lift.
0450hrs: Another search around for the Lumix camera… and I found it, in the brown tray in the bookshelf I’d looked into in the first place? I could do not believe it – I think I might need some help about this yer know… Hehe!
Made a mug of tea and started finishing off yesterday’s diary, got it posted off. Then made a start on this one.
0550hrs: Back down to collect the washing, taking the camera with me.
Not much today.Cleaned the filter.
Leaving some nibbles for Mable on her laundry bag.
Back on the computer to carry on with this post. WordPressed a while then Facebooked before it was time to get the ablutions tended to.
Then I realised I’d wiped the surfaces in the Laundry Room, but not cleaned out the filter! So, back down once again and got it cleaned up.
Used the stairs to go down, 24 flight’s of concrete hobbled down, to get a bit of exercise like. (The weight?) Got the lift back up. Hehe!
Swapped the four bin bags and took the full ones to the refuse chute and prepared all the paperwork folders to take with me to the bank. Gathered the glass jars of Olive’s and mine in the bag to take to the skip on the way out.
Walked down the stairs again on the way. Chatted to two residents who were waiting for a bus, then out and to the Windwood Tenants Contact Point Shed. Both Obergruppenfurheresses were in. Informed them of my going to the bank, Chemists and Clinic explaining the bank farce continuation. They both offered advice to me: Obergruppenfureress Deana said: “Get yourself down there and bollock em!” Obergruppenfureress Julie advised: “Tell em to get stuffed!”
It’s comforting to know that trained, educated, helpful personnel are being paid to help look after us old folk sometimes. Scragglebumph! Hehehe! Gave them a lamb stewpot.
Out and over the road to the glass recycling bins and deposited the jars, then left along Chestnut Walk and right down Winchester Street Hill.
The grass here had been cut and scattered back on top, it smelt lovely.
Down into Sherwood and called at the Bank. 1005hrs: Joined the queue and had to relate all the things that had been going on with me bank transfer from the beginning! She told me to wait, and the new manageress would come to me.
1010hrs: She came introduced herself, took me into an office after a brief explanation from me of the problems. Had to inform her of all the procedures that had gone wrong, yet again!
Seven weeks ago, I called to see about moving my bank account from the old bank to this one. I was told what ID proof I’d need, and he arranged for me to meet with him three days later. A two and a half hour meeting going through all the required.
Attended the meeting and all seemed to go well enough, I was assured that it would all be okay and the account transferred within seven days. I was told that an introductory box would arrive shortly, and I was to destroy the old card immediately.
I received the box and new card a fortnight later. Killed the old card and went down to the bank to get some cash on the new card… the ATM informed me that this service in unavailable. Went in and spoke with the lady behind the counter, having to explain things from the start again! Waited. Met with the manager, who told me he had made an error in accepting the State pension detail letter, as it had the wrong Postcode on it.He then rang them and arranged for a new letter with the proper postcode on it that would be sent to me. Bring it in when it arrives.
Ten days later, still it had not arrived. Down to the bank again! He rang them again and explained things to them. Again the said they would send a new statement with the proper code on it.
Three days later (A Saturday of course) the statement arrived – with the wrong code still on it!
Waited until Monday and saw the bank manager again, same procedure.
Then the following Saturday, the same thing. Waited until Monday and saw the bank manager again. This time (Today) the new manager was in situ – and I had to go all through the problems with the bank counter clerk again and waited to see the new bank manager, Lisa Del Gracidio. Then go through it all again, getting right pissed off I was now!
She was reluctant to phone the State Pension people, but after some persuasion, she did, we got the same promise of a new statement would arrive within three days with the proper postcode on it. (Third or fourth time I’d had this commitment now I reckon!) Then, she said: You could ask your Doctor for these details (She’d scribbled them on an A4 sheet) and assurances and sign them as an oath, then you could bring in that letter on the surgery headed notepaper, and we’ll try that as ID proof! But it’s up to you!
At this, I slipped in a mention of this being suitable to go on the Trust Pilot website – she was not impressed, and her glare looked like it could or should have shrivelled me on the spot! I was on a roll now… I smiled forcefully and said: “Well I’m so glad to hear that you are all for assisted suicide then!” A semi-puzzled look spread over her face, and I added: “Well yer killing me with all this worry and hassle!” I pointed out I was only joking, but I wasn’t.
I informed her I would call at the surgery and beg the Doctor to supply the needed details, and IF the State Pension ID with the right Postcode on it arrives, or the Doctor provides one, I’d return to the bank with it.
We parted the best of new enemies. Walked up through Sherwood and down into Carrington calling in the Sherringham Park Surgery. The receptionist listened patiently as I explained the request and gave the banks Gruppenfurheress’s list of demands and the telephone number for her. She agreed with me that things with the ID were in a mess. Then informed me that my Doctor Vindla was not in today but should be tomorrow, and she will let her have the request if she agrees she’ll let me know via email, and I should be able to call on Thursday or Friday to collect it.
Thanked her and was out down to the Chemist. Who informed that the prescriptions should be available to be collected on Friday.
Caught the bus back into Sherwood and called at the Continental Food Shop and got some bread and Krakowski meat.
On leaving the store on Mansfield Road, I observed two pigeons totally ignoring what looked like the remains of a Kebab in the roadside gutter.
Wise birds I thought! Doctored this one by adding the birds.
Not unless perhaps they had eaten just the chips? Hehe!
Three-quarters of the way up Winchester Street Hill, some new growth was forcing its way through the fencing, with just one berry on it. Looked a bit like Holly to me.
Onwards up the hill and into the flat, put the things away, felt sorry for me and the out again to catch the bus to the City Hospital and the GUM clinic.
Snotty-pants was at the reception again. I was seen in a shot this time, no giant magnifying glasses used either. Told to stop the anti-bleeding cream and given some healing cream to use for the red swelling. I was in and out in fifteen minutes, five more and I was on the 40 bus, another ten minutes and I was dropping off on Winchester Street Hill. Never been known to be so quick and sorted so soon.
More new growths near the bus stop.
Put the cream in the cabinet drawer. Made a brew and got the computer going to update this post.
Got the meal on the go.
Krakowska sarnies, veg slices, marmite crisps, silverskin onions various flavoured cheese portions, lovely beetroot, cheese crispies and followed with an iced lolly.
The drained sensation overcame me, and I got the TV on and fell asleep.
Woken by the mobile phone at my side ringing… Humph! More bad news! The surgery called to tell me that Dr Vindla would not be back from sick leave for at least another week and could not make and sign the form for the Bank for me until she returns, and only if she agrees to do it, then.
The gloom added to the tiredness and I should have begun to feel depressed again really, but a resignation to my bad luck reigned within. Not contentment or acceptance, rather a sensation of melancholy and exasperation over the bad luck and Whoopsiedangleplops and Accidfaupas that had seemingly become a part of my aged life.
Turned off the TV I’d fell asleep watching in the first place and drifted off into sleep quickly and a nightmare of a dream. There were antagonists of all sorts verbally attacking me in an office, finger poking, sneering, scowling at me… Couldn’t understand why.
0320hrs up wide awake. Hastily got out of the £300 scarily shuddering second-hand recliner chair and to the porcelain throne. Managed a wee-wee, but the heavy duty part refused to leave! Tsk!
Got the laundry things ready. Going to need top machines this morning.Laundry
0335hrs: Down to the laundry room with the first bag of clothing.
Got the machine going, and swept the room. It looked like someone had left tissues in pockets and put the clothes into the washer. Bits were all over the place and outside leading to the lifts. On the way back up I saw a notice on the resident’s board that informed us that the L8 bus service is to finish permanently on 29th April 2017. Sad that.
0345hrs: Up to number 72, a mug of tea made, took the medications and computer turned on.
0410hrs: Down with next laundry load. The first load moved into the dryer, 2nd load into the washing machine.
It was a bit misty outside.
0420hrs: Back in the flat, started the diary work.
0520hrs: Down yet again and collected the dried clothing, folded it and put it in the bag. Cleaned the filter. Got the second load into the machine and up to the apartment to put the washed clothes away. Noticed a car pulling away from the space opposite the foyer doors – early riser there?
0529hrs: Finished Monday’s diary and got it posted. Another brew and tried for a heavy duty session on the porcelain throne – no luck! Started this post off.
0635hrs: Down to the laundry room to collect the second load of washed and dried clothing and towels. Had a read of the other Notice Boards, ’cause the dryer had not finished yet.
Got the clothes out and into the bag (Finding the odd sock and now having a pair again, Hehe!)
As I was taking the photograph, Roy from the 14th floor came into the room and gave me a funny suspicious look.We had a chinwag and laugh.
We had a chinwag and laugh.
Back up a final time to the flat, and took a photographicalisation from the kitchen window of the rather beautifully blue misty scene.
Put the clobber away and once more tried to perform a heavy-duty mission in the porcelain throne room. Failed again!
The door to the airing cupboard popped open as I was passing it with a fresh brew of tea.
I really must invest in some type of storage furniture! Tsk!
The new socks had not shrunken in the wash, and for some reason the filter on the machine today, did not need cleaning after use?
I only had one of the Kippah style head caps left, I gave the others to the Nottingham Hospice Charity Shop the other week. They might fit a 3-year-old, having shrunk so much in the wash. This reminded me about the clothing that no longer fits me, due just possibly to my ever increasing girth and mass – but most likely they have shrunken. Hehehe! Made another bag of them to take to the shop later.Back to the diaries
Back onto to this diary and updated it.
Then did some blogging.
Then some Facebooking.
Then onto the graphics.
The weather is still a bit misty and uninviting for me to go out yet. Tsk!
Got the things ready for the Nottingham Hospice Charity shop and bagged them all up.
Abluted, dressed, antisepticated, and down the lift and outside the flats.
Took a photographicalisation of the ‘End Garages’ in case they get destroyed in the upcoming external ‘Improvements’ to the apartments.
This end looked beautiful (Mind you, everything did) the new growth of the vegetation and the fantastic greens coming on.
To the right, and took a photo of the middle garages that we know are due for the chop next week I think it starts.
Over the road and up the gravel path into Woodthorpe Grange Park and left down into Sherwood.
As I got to the top and over the crest to the park footpath, I espied an L8 bus in a traffic queue on Woodside Road.
I wondered as I took it if the younger of the residents would remember it in twenty years time and mourn its demise?
Hehe!
This L8 service finishes at the end of the month.
Sadly.
As I turned to go down towards Mansfield Road this turd on the right, nearly had me over as he coasted down the hill path threateningly close to the few pedestrians on it.
At this point, I sensed a warm wet sensation fro the read end.Further along, there was one tree in a far more advanced stage of ‘fruiting’ compared to the others.
I thing Haemorrhoid Harold was leaking somewhat.Further along, there was one tree in a far more advanced stage of ‘fruiting’ compared to the others.
Oh, dear.
Further along, there was one tree in a far more advanced stage of ‘fruiting’ compared to the others.
I took this picture and had a moment of being in awe at nature once again.
Plodded on and into Sherwood, calling first in the Hospice Shop and left the bag for them and had a potter around to see if they had any storage cabinets or drawers for sale. None in at the moment.
Down the hill and called into Wilko and got another of the power extensions with the individual on/off switches.
Very handy.
Also got a deodorant spray and a bottle of Dettol Lavender Antiseptic Disinfectant… this being because I tipped the one I got yesterday over in the wetroom.
Down the hill and into the Fresh Cream Cake Shop and got an iced fresh cream bun. (Naughty, I know).
Even further down the hill and into the Continental Foods Store. Where I got a small loaf, belly pork slices and a packet of the Hochland Cheese portions. Similar to the one I tried the other day.
I didn’t like the texture or smell of the cheese, but they tasted delightful!
Not cheap. This packet was one that had different types of mushroom bits in the little packets/wedges.
Across the road and up the hill to the bank. Needed to talk to the manager about the farcical situation regarding my new account. It was packed solid with folks, so I left it for another day.
Limping and sweating a bit now I was. Called in a couple of Charity Shops (Cancer Research and Sue Ryder) to see if they had any cabinets in but without any luck.
Up to the pelican lights and over and up further to the bus stop – and had a delightful chinwag and laugh with some other residents (Four girls and one fella) as we waited for the L9 bus up to the flats.
Back in the flat, I dropped everything and went into the wetroom to check of Haemorrhoid Harold’s condition – not good. Cleaned and antisepticated things then washed and got the things bought put away.
Opened one of the three for £10 lamb meal I’d gotten yesterday from Marks & Sparks. The food was in a bag with a foil tray, tipped the contents into the tray and placed the sliced potatoes on top as per the instructions.
The food was in a bag with a foil tray, tipped the contents into the tray and placed the sliced potatoes on top as per the instructions.
Not much in it, it did not smell nice either, I thought I might have made an error in trying this one?
Took the evening medications and got the TV on to watch Law & Order.
It dawned on me, the mess the place was in, with all the part sorted paperwork regarding the banking farce laying all over. I must try to sort it in the morning. Mind you, I have yet another load of washing to do now. Tsk!
Served up the meal in the oven tray I cooked it in.
Added some mushrooms to it and a drop of lamb gravy mix.
Was not impressed with how it looked at all.
It was surprisingly so delicious, tasty and appetising! Even if was such a minuscule portion.
9.63/10 for this one!
The phone rang while I was eating it, by the time I struggled to get out the £300 second-hand recliner it stopped.
Settled down again to continue eating, and the door chime rang! It was Obergruppenfurheress Deana to do an alarm test.
Not much washing up to do this time, but I had a hell of a dizzy spell while doing it.
Woke around 0400hrs, the mind in a twisted contorted demented condition. Mixed sentiments, ranging twixt utter fear, contentment, panic, admiration and confusion. I lay back on the £300 second-hand recliner for a good while trying to rearrange, organise these rambling thoughts into logicality, make sense of them and fight some of them off. I felt the nerves were winning the battle.
Around 0440hrs, I dismounted the recliner, seeing some notes I must have made from the dreams, placed it near the computer to look at later, there were no memories of any dream, just the scribbled notes
Into the kitchen, via a wee-wee in the WC, made a mug of strong tea and took the medications.
Did the health checks, the pulse was well and truly high, I didn’t do the weighing of my aged flobby-body. Decided I could not face another disappointment at this moment.
Decided I could not face another disappointment at this time. Hehe!
Took a photograph from the kitchen window.
Finished yesterday’s diary off and got it posted to WordPress.
Checked the email, and one from Sister Jane brought me some more sad news. She is taking Arthur the cat, to the veterinary today, in anticipation that he will recommend him being put down. All thin, but Jane says he is eating well?
She sent this last photo of him in their garden. I hope she doesn’t mind me putting on here, but a picture can say so much more than words sometimes?
I bet poor Jane is in turmoil about which route to take. So much love and joy shared between them.
I cried to myself for Jane and Arthur. Done a bit of that recently, crying. The atrocity in London, Olive’s suffering… The memories cannot be taken away. The Vet might decide Arthur can carry on a while longer, best to take his advice. Poor Jane.
I went into the kitchen to make another drink, again via the WC for another wee-wee (?).
Noticed the sharp change in the view from earlier, so decided to post them both together below.
Did some graphic preparation and then saw the scribble about the dream on the pad about the dream, so took a look at it: Many of my words were undecipherable I’m afraid. Mighty gale – died. Alone, pitifull. Hate. Orange beast, electricity and woeful were the only things I could read?
Carried out the second health checks:
The Pulse seems a bit high still, but I was well pleased with the weight!
I could not find the camera anywhere?
So had to resurrect an old little one, search for batteries and find a card to use.
Had a search all over for the newer camera, for an hour almost, without any luck.
An absolute mystery to me? Very annoyed with myself again! Humph! I’ll need an afflatus to solve this one!
Facebooked for a while.
Then did some blogging.
Got the ablutions tended to, wrapped up and set off to catch the L9 bus into town to look into buying a camera to replace the lost Lumix one. Missed the bus.
Walked up by the Copse and down through Woodthorpe Grange Park, then up and over and down the hill into Sherwood and caught a bus into town.
The weather was grand, proper summer like.
Sherwood was busy but with vehicles not many shoppers or pedestrians about today again.
The bus was full, and the passengers seemed to be in a talkative mood between themselves… or maybe the hearing aids had started working better?Dropped off the bus and walked
It’s odd that, how sometimes I can’t hear any gossip and another, like today, I could actually pick up bits of the people’s conversations.
Dropped off the bus on Upper Parliament Street and walked down Queen Street.
Took what turned out to be a reasonable photo of the Council House with its flag at half-mast.
Walked across the Slab Square, having to dodge between a street guitarist, a Muslim preacher, a Christian preacher, a Big Issue Seller (slipped him a quid) a penny whistle-blowing chap in a wheelchair and a large group of students protesting about something or other. And noticed that the closed-down clothes shop was now a 24-hour
Noticed that the closed-down clothes shop was now a 24-hour Burger King eatery.
Just what Nottingham needs that.
Three independent cafes, two… no, three coffee shops, two McDonalds, Cosmo Authentic World
Down Exchange Walk
Kitchen, a Hungry Pumpkin, Loch Fyne Fish Restuarant, Bills, Wimpy, Hart’s, several pizza places, eleven Coffee Shops, Two Fish & Chip shops, Bennies, three Indian Restaurants, two Chinese, two Turkish.
Plus two Maryland Chicken, an Amigos, Patisserie Valerie, two French restaurants, Chinese, Slug & Lettuce, two Italian, Greek. Five Subways… all within a minute’s walk (Well, three minutes for me, Hehe!) not to mention the 15 or so pubs that sell food and the many others I can’t remember – just what Nottingham needs another eatery!
Oh, I forgot there are the mobile eateries scattered all over the place too.
Hobbled down Exchange Walk and through a lot of folk lecturing and preaching outside the church and Marks and Sparks (No one was listening to them mind).
Went into that store and had a wonder around the Menswear department – a mistake that, or at least rather damaging to the bank balance as it turned out. I spotted in a partly hidden corner, some racks of attire that were either To Clear or Reduced in Price.
Hobbled around and came out with three pairs of trousers and a thick shirt for winter. Carrying the carrier bags with me as well, I wondered over to look at the things on the proper price shelving and racks. A few minutes later I was struggling as the clobber being carried over my arm stopped the blood flow, and the left arm froze and ached a bit.
I asked a lady assistant in the ladies clothing side if she would mind me taking a photo or two of the ladies dressing gowns, as I was hoping to treat Olive when she comes out of the hospital after her operation to one.I thought it best if I show her photographs first to see if she
I thought it best if I show her pictures first to see if she liked any of them first. She allowed me and even held a floral version of the white one while I took the picture. Was kind of her that.
This one was thin but warm.
Back to the gents attire, “Are You Being Served?”
Bought and paid for Lycra Cord Trousers, Honeycomb Trousers?, Borg Shakett trousers all on Sale Price, Value Linen Trousers, Linen Trouser, Value Chino Trousers. They should see out. Took the names from the receipt.
Made my way out, well I meant to. Couldn’t find the down escalator, went the wrong way and I found myself back in the Mens Attire section again – this proved to be an expensive Whoopsiedangleplop. Because I spotted, they had some Loose Fitting Cotton Boxer undies and some nice thick socks with strengthened toes and heel parts. Joined the queue at the pay desk again. This receipt said I’d bought: Tile Print, Tonal Ombre Pack and a 7PP Htooth Sole?
The total spent on this days visit, first load £131.00, second £48.00. Oh, dear me! Tsk! Both receipts informed me that I have only until 24/04/2017 to return any of the On Sale goods for exchange.
It only took me around ten minutes or so to find the way out, then walked down towards the Broad Marsh shopping Centre. After noticing the new eatery earlier, as I hobbled along Albert Street/Lister Gate to the centre, I counted the fooderies on that street.
I was surprised to see only four and the mobile Hot Potato van, although many of the shops had eateries inside of course. And Broad Marsh had a good few to pick from too.
And Broad Marsh had a good few to pick from too.
At first, I thought there were two of the Costa coffee places within yards of each other. Closer inspection revealed that the distant one was closed down. I think in a desperate move by the Council, they are offering rate reductions to anyone moving into retail property there – so Costa may have moved to get the tax free perks?
I wandered in the Shopping Centre (Mall), and it was so depressing with the closed down shops (Although the eateries seemed plentiful).
I came out and made my way back up to the City Centre Slab Square.
The afternoon sun provided me with an opportunity to take some shadow photographs.
The weather remained summerish.
I hobbled around the square amidst the most appalling gathering of foul-mouthed yobboes I’ve come across in ages on Lister Gate.
Obviously, I did not take any images of these foreign speaking gentlemen with their cans of XXX lager and threatening defiant attitudes.
The nearby imitation police officers did not seem interested. I can understand this to some degree.
If they did approach them, they would claim to know no English, and if the police took any details, they would have difficulty in spelling Celestyn Wiśniewski, have to get an interpreter on their mobiles and actually do something other than fine people for dropping a nub end or parking on a double yellow line for 20 seconds. Can’t have that, can we?
The street musician on the end of Queen Street had a lot of admirers as he twanged his, to me, horrible sounding guitar. He was trying to play classic style music, but it came out far too clangy if that’s the word. Mind you, I am tone deaf so he could have been playing good or got his friends to film him for Facebook. No one donated any money while I was there, though.
A while before the bus was due, I popped into Debenham’s to compare their prices with the ones I’d bought at Marks & Sparks. I got down into the menswear in their basement and spotted a rack, just one, with To Clear goods on it. They had sets of jammies there, reduced to only £49! What, £49 and on offer to explain! I eventually found the way out and limped up to the last L9 bus stop.
Had a chinwag with a lady there. She lives on Winchester Street, used Yorkshire tea bags and was intent on having a brew as soon as she gets in, she was weary. We discussed getting old and how we can’t do what we used to. Lovely lady.
Said cheerio to her as I got off the bus, waved to her when I made my way to flats. Where a heavy duty session on the porcelain revealed no bleeding from either back or front. Pleased with that.
I decided I’d have Meg-Super sandwiches for tonight, got carried away and added some other bits. The sandwiches in production and the nosh prepared!
Carrot and Parsnip puffs, Marmite crisps, vinegar pea-rice, a banana and a Lemon Curd yoghourt. 9.64/10, super delicious it was! Ate it all as well, no wonder the weight had gone on Saturday morning. The pig motiff on the paper towel was most apt! Tsk!
Remembered I’d forgotten to look at the cameras today. Huh!
During the night, I thought I had woken and written down some notes about the dream I’d been having… When I woke and stirred at 0325hrs, I could find no note – perhaps I’d imagined I’d dreamed of making the record?
So I got out of the £300 second-hand shaking and shuddering recliner chair (Like myself, I don’t think it has long left, Hehe) took off the wonderfully warm cover and the cushions and searched all over for it, in the certainty that I actually did write it. Guess what I found? Think food…
Yes, another of the escaped and hidden garden peas from when I dropped the dinner plate last week.
Rock hard it was. I had to smile to myself! The cleaning ladies, if cleaning is the right word to use here, had taken everything off of the chair as I asked them to in cleaning it for the first time since they had been coming, stripped it they did, and they didn’t find it. As I didn’t when I looked under the chairs with a torch after the Whoopsiedangleplop occurred? People were talking about ants taking over the world, but what about the garden pea danger? Orbb 80, a wonderfully caring and humourous blogger on WordPress knows about the danger, she warned me in a comment. Honestly!
I made a brew and got the computer on.
Feeling a tad more content this morning, up to now like. Worried about Olive, though, I’ll call her at a reasonable time, just to see if she is okay and if there is anything I can do to help. She is going out with her daughter today so I might not catch her in.
I changed the Morrisons order I’ve got in with them. Took two items off and added six. The banking fiasco going on, I’m surprised they are still accepting the card, that’s why I added some things, just in case the card fails later.
I was summoned to the porcelain for a heavy duty session. Splendid, no bleeding from either front or rear! Arthur Itis was hardly noticeable, Duodenal Daniel was not bad at all, Reflux Roger was active, but this was not due to the valve sticking and not painful in the slightest; This wind was due to last nights nosh I’m sure. Hehe! Hernia Harry was all calm too. Only Anne Gyne with her new pain on the left chest and up under the left arm was giving me any real grief, and that was far less than last night.
So, things medically were far easier today.
Worries me a bit that, mind. Haha!
The only concern was my so regular visitations to the WC, where’s it all coming from, I’ve only had half a small mug of tea?
Bravely I made another cup of tea.
Then I took a photographicalisation from the kitchen window. All looked so calm, no rain belting down, no high winds howling yet either.
Not a soul in sight, no moving vehicles, lovely and peaceful.
Got on with finishing yesterday’s diary and started this one off.
Did some blogging and commenting on WordPress. Took a while catching up.
Then onto Facebooking.
Graphic creation next, I made a start on the next TFZ series, but only got two completed and it was time for me to do the ablutions if I am to go out for a wander and window shop.
Wrapped up well and set off down to the bus stop (Oh, I do appreciate my free pensioner’s bus pass).
Another bit of a Whoopsiegangleplop here (I know, sad);
The bus was in, and I jumped on it (Well when I say jumped… hehe) it moved off immediately, and got out the crossword book and realised later, it was the City Centre Bus and not the Arnold bus I was travelling on.
“Nae bother!” I said to myself, hearing my old neighbour and best mate Jock Kirkpatric’s voice saying the same thing, and I revelled in the memories that flooded back to me of those days of life, love and laughter and fishing holidays, now long gone.
No morose memories and they did not get me feeling sorry for myself or unhappy, just so appreciative that I met and palled up with this older man from Stromness in the Orkneys, who became a gunner on the bombers in the second world war, and ended up as a part of my life as a next door neighbour and an example and guide to me, bringing so much to admire and respect.
I waffled a bit there, but that is how I felt at that time, proud to have known him. I anticipate when I go, he will have got a job at St Peter’s gate and will make sure I get through to join him if he can. Hehehe!
It dawned on me then as I looked around that I was on the wrong bus… Again! Stayed on and went to the City Centre and had an aimless wander around for a while, taking some photographs as I did.
Not too many folks around today. Plenty of street artists, beggars, Big Issue Sellers and pavement cyclists, though.
I did a circular walk around the Slab Square, feeling amazingly calm in myself?
Making my way back to the start point, I called in the book shop and had a perusal, but they had nothing that drew my interest.
Then had a nosey in Marks & Spencers food hall – and came out buying nothing!
Felt a bit chuffed with my new found resilience to spending.
Came down Long Row and foolishly strayed into the Primark store. Where an incident took place that took me back to the Security working days. (Full of memory prompting today was?) I went into the ladies section to get some photographs to use on the TFZer site graphic series. That was when I saw a family of Mum, Dad and four kids, Mam was shoving things into the pram of the youngest child and covering them up. This was in the fashion clothing section. For some stupid reason, I followed them.
As the Dad decided to join in and was putting an imitation fur something or other behind the kid, Mother spotted me watching… said something to Dad, they both gave me a stare for a few seconds, and I got out my mobile phone and pretended to use it as an RT.
After a few words, they got all the stuff hidden in the pram behind the child out and just dropped them on the floor in the aisle, then partly kicked them under some display racking.
They then calmly made their exit from the store, seemingly laughing with each other as they went through the doors?
Naughty people!
I went up to the Gents department to have a look to see if they had any of the ‘loose fitting’ cotton underpants on sale. They did, and I got two packs of three, to replace the ones I could not find in the flat. I was so sure I’d bought a bag of this type of undies from Asda a while ago, but don’t seem able to locate them. Nothing new there, mind, Tsk!
Back to the bus stop and didn’t have long to wait for the L9 bus, which whisked me back to the flat. Bill (William on Sundays) from the flats whom I sit with at the Tenants Social Hour got on. Later I moved and sat next to him for a gossip. He looked exhausted.
Back at the flats, the wind was howling, the sun disappeared, and the rain just starting, missed it nicely, by the time I’d got in and up the lift and into the flat, it was belting down!
Got the oven on warming ready for me to cook the crisscrossed smokey bacon and vegetarian sausages to have with the flavoured tomatoes for my meal of the day.
As I was throwing away the empty can, I caught the finger end on the edge of the cut metal edge and got a cut down between the finger and nail. Don’t half bleed those types of cuts, Hehe!
For my next Whoopsiedangleplop: I put a Boon DVD into the slot on the TV, and it refused to play? It went to the opening screen with the option to play, but no response when I pressed the button to play, would move between options on the screen either? Unsure of the problem, I changed the batteries in the remote thingy. Still no joy. Turned off the set and rebooted, tried again, same frozen screen. Tried another DVD, same thing. I reckon I can safely say, the DVD drive thing is now Kaputt! Humph!
Went onto the TV mode and the things worked as normal. But could I nod off as normal? No! Which is a good job, ’cause I smelt the bacon burning!
I rescued the bacon and sausages and dished them up with some mushrooms in the new deep dish.
I thought this fodder looked like it was going to be great tasting.
It wasn’t!
The bacon was burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside, the flavoured tomatoes tasted terrible (No idea what I put in wrong?). The bread had gotten dried and hard around the edges. The sausages were very nice, as was the Lemon Curd yoghourt.
In slightly lower mood now, I went to wash up the pots as they say. A farcical Whoopsiedangleplopped event if ever I’d had one!
Dropped and broke the blue mug…
Opened the cut in the finger when I caught it on the knife in the washing up bowl…
Banged my knee against the door handle on the cupboard under the sink and started Arthur Itis off, and he’s enjoying himself even now the following morning…
Finally the last in this series of Whoopsiedangleplops: Bent down to put the washing up liquid back in the under sink storage and hit my head on the sink!
Then, I spotted the bag with the underpants still inside.
So I thought I’d put the in the hanging fabric space saver thingy on the clothes rack.
This was when I found the Asda Loose Fitting cotton underpants I figured I’d lost before… What a Plonka!
I did notice, that the Asda ones were £10 for three and the Primark £4.50 for three?
Both claim to be Cotton Rich loose fit Boxers, but the Asda one being Jersey Cotton Rich loose fit Boxers?
At least, I should have enough Cotton Rich loose fit Boxers to see me out now!
Unless I lose them again? Hehe!
On and off, more off than on, I struggled to watch some TV programmes, five minutes here, ten minutes there.
Awoken with a start around 0230hrs. Sweating shivering and in low spirits. Tried my best to recall the dreams, but other than a vague belief that they were about my schooldays, nothing concrete.
The mind was riddled with concerns over the banking problems and my failure to sort things out This I think, decided me to try and keep busy to avoid them. I chose to get the laundry room duties done straight away. No washing or cleaning just got the glasses, pants and shoes on, picked up the bag of laundry with the everything needed for the task, in it and went down to the ground floor and got them in the machine and going.
To the apartment and got the medication pots for the week done and sorted.
Started on Facebooking for a while before it was time to go down and move the washing out of the washer and into the dryer. Note how well I worked out what needed doing this time?
Hehehe!
0325hrs: Down to the laundry taking the camera with me. Moved the togs and cleaned the washer.
I popped out of the front doors to take a photo of the view across the road, hoping it might come out as a ‘Moody’ type one.
It was warm and wet, and I could hear some of the bird calls, and make out they were different ones, even without my hearing aids in.
Luckily, I’d got the key fob in my jumper pocket to let myself back in with. Phew!
Shot back up to my tiny dwelling called home, and got the computer on, finished the Facebooking session, and got some graphicalisationing started. Must keep the brain from wandering back to the problems!
0425hrs: Back down to collect the things.
Timed it well for once, the Finish sign flashed up as I got in the room. Took a photo for no particular reason, and noticed how oddly shaded it came out? Very nice, but unplanned?
I think I’d moved the selection dial to this icon in mistake, but having no idea what it means didn’t help me solve the mystery. I changed it back to auto and took a photo of the clothing. Okay.
As I unloaded the clothes and folded them ready to go into the bag – I realised how few items there really were there? How, I inquired of my stunted confused brain, did I go five days since the last wash, and only have two pairs of socks, and three underpants in a pile? No towels either, in fact only four jumper-shirt thingamabobs? I was puzzled yet again?
Cleaned the dryer and fluff filter, wiped around and returned back up to the flat. The first task was to respond to the late call to the porcelain for a heavy duty session. Oh dearie me… Haemorrhoid Harry was still bleeding, after a check of things I decided to have a strip wash and put the clothes into the laundry bag after soaking them. Did the teggies and had a shave while they were soaking. Didn’t want to have a shower in case of disturbing the neighbours so early.
Then back onto the porcelain for another session! Blimey! Harry’s internal’s was still leaking.
However, I put some padded protection pants on… Like a giant nappy they are! Hehehe!
I put away the washed items and returned the bag to the other room… and spotted another bag with laundry waiting to be done in it! I did feel a fool (Nothing new there, mind!). I must have started two bags of laundry? Ah well, I’ll see if I can get this lot done in the morning. Tsk!
Computerisationing again. Worked on the diaries off, foolishly starting this one off first, thinking so much has happened already and I’d gone photographing mad too, better get it down now while I remember. This will make remembering the yesterday ending even harder! I’ve confused myself more and more today already, and it’s 0nly 0700hrs!
I could hear the wind getting up outside (Mind you, the wind was starting inside. Hehe!).
I nipped bravely out onto the balcony to take a shot from a different angle. Facing North (To the right of the flat).
The wind and rain had soaked me within seconds. It was that dead thin and small drops rain that catches you out innit?
I then went into the kitchen to take a picture while hanging out of the window, of the view below. Catching my head against the frame and knocking the hearing aid at the same time. The tubing came out and I tried to catch it – fumbling and trying not to drop the camera, I dropped the tubing…
Went down the lift and outside, but could not see it anywhere, despite my determination and getting blown about by the wind and soaked in the rain, again! Made it worse cause I went down like a clot, wearing the slippers! It probably got blew away in the wind. So, if anyone in France, Germany, Holland, Russia or America see a plastic hearing aid tube landing anywhere nearby, it’ll probably be mine. Hope some bird doesn’t mistake it for a worm?
Back up to 72 and into the wetroom to dry myself off, swap slippers and have a change of clothes. Tsk!
I’m fed-up with today already! Still, it’s bound to improve innit?…. Innit?
Pressed on with the diaries again. Then answered some nice comments on WordPress, and got ready to walk down to the shops for some bread and fruit… not any cream cakes of course, though, oh no… Ahem!
Dressed, a spray of deodorant, long distance glasses on, hearing aid inserted, normal underwear on, hat on, bag ready and off I set.
Down Winchester Street hill first and to the continental shop for a loaf of their delicious bread – but they had some of the belly pork with herbs and peppers on display, and I weakened. Shame number One!
Up the hill to the greengrocery shop and bought just one potato – I say one potato… look how big it was when I got it into my full sized oven cooking later. Ginormous! It’ll probably take two days to bake and last me a week!
Then the simple task of walking passed the cake shop and not looking in the window display… which I failed (Shame number Two!). Two Fresh Cream Buns with strawberry jam inside and vanilla icing on top. Of course, I would never have been tempted or interested in buying such unhealthy foodstuffs normally. It’s just that I thought Olive would like one.
Carried on up and over the hill and right up through Woodthorpe Grange Park.
A few yards up the path, and I espied a rather beautiful lone wood pigeon on the grass. I got out the camera, convinced with my luck he’she would have flown away by the time I
got it out, but was lucky and took several pictures before it did fly away. It seemed to me, a bit like a search for twigs for the nest was taking place? Bootiful!
Up to the top of the path to turn tight down the gravel path passing the copse, when I realised how kind Arthur Itis and Anne Gyna were being to me. When I got to the Copse, I took a photograph showing the flats and the edge of the trees. I wondered if this one would do for Maries Nature Challenge Photo on her Facebook page.
Down the rest of the path, and met 93-yeat-old tenant Eddy coming up the path, and a lot faster than I can get up it! He was feeding the crows.
Up into the flat, and I got the giant potato into the oven and took a piccy of the other stuff for you slaver over. Hehe! The belly pork looked and smelt so irresistibly tempting. I’ll have it for nosh tonight with some cheesy mashed then baked potatoes.
That is if the mega-spud ever cooks. Haha!
I’d like to have some garden peas with them, but fear another battle with the exasperating little vegetables. Hehe!
Made a mug of tea, and for some reason thought I’d hand-washed two shrunken kippah style caps. I must remember to keep turning them over.
Did them in warm water and used washing-up liquid. So I did.
Also washed out the cleaning cloths afterwards.
Rang them out best I could, and put them on the towel warmer in the hallway. It will take ages for the thick caps to dry ready for use again, but I have some others in the airing cupboard.
Going to see Olive in a bit, I’ve to call first to see if it is okay, mind. Hope she wants the cake, I know she likes these ones, ’cause last when I took her one and told her it was a cream iced scone (Thinking that was what they were called), and she told me off for getting the wrong ones. Luckily her grandson was due to visit and I left it in her fridge for him. She had a look later and realised it was the one she loves so much and ate it up. So now I know they are called Iced Cream Buns!
Got the computer going and did some diary updating, then awhile on Facebook.
Oh, nearly forgot I took this one in Sherwood near the top of the hill.
Very sad place Sherwood for shopping.Three
Three stores have closed down this month. One of them a large supermarket, Budgens.
Of the other two, one I think was a ladies hairdresser the other a sadly failed florist.
Looking at this photo: It is Saturday and around 1130hrs, not many folks about is there? Too many shops, not enough people. However, the regular Big Issue Seller was in attendance and there were some stalls forming a Farmers Market, I felt sorry for them, no customers there while I was in the vicinity. Sad.
Went to see Olive, remembering to take the Cream Iced Strawberry bun.
She looked and sounded to be in good form. Even told me off, just the once mind. We had a jolly chinwag and laugh. She is still waiting for the date for her operation and has organised the after-op help she’ll need. Assistance for dressing and bathing lady all sorted. She’s even filled her freezer with ready meals to save hassle and walking/standing afterwards too. She’s been shopping for these this morning with her grandson, Malcolm. An amazing woman, no wonder I admire and love her so.
Best moment of my day when she smiled when she saw the cream cake.
Back to the flat and got the giant potato out of the oven and halved it ready to scrape out the flesh into the bowl and mix it with cheese…
This is not a photo of the actual potato, but one I found on the web that resembled it the closest. Oh, gnashfumbleandammit! A large area of pure white, what looked and felt like soft plastic was around the dark area.
I removed the infected flesh and used the rest of it. A good bashing and mixing with some extra strong cheddar cheese, and out it in the oven with the potato spread wide and thin, which made it look like a lot more than it was. Turned the oven up high and did some Facebooking with the TFZers. Added the sausages later.
So, it turned out fortunate that the lady gave me such a whopping potato, didn’t it? Hehe!
The weather turned a bit nasty, high winds and rain.
Popped in to use the WC, and found that Little Inchy had been bleeding again.Got the ablutions done and the meal prepared.
Getting fed up with this leaking blood lark. I’ll have to get some more of the extra large PCP’s, (Protective Comfort Pants) and they are not cheap.
Ah, just realised why I had so few underpants to wash now – I’d been wearing the throw-away PCPs! If it isn’t Little Inchy its Haemorrhoid Harold bleeding lately. Tsk!
Served up the meal. Pleased with how the potatoes had browned off, the thin chipolatas were tasty, as was the beetroot, pickled mushrooms, siverskin onions, and best of all the garden peas – I put some demerara sugar in the saucepan with them when I warmed them up.
The naughty cream cake was a pleasurable indulgence again, but I managed to drop the banana, got out of the £300 second-hand rickety recliner to retrieve it… and trod on it! I thought I’d cleaned it all up… more, later.
Put the washing in the sink to soak, checked the bobble hats on the towel dryer; they were still wet? then got the Boon DVD on to watch. Which went well staying awake-wise. Turned to the TV to watch the football on channel five.
To the Porcelain room, and checked Little Inchy and Haemorrhoid Harold, both of which seemed to have steadied up and indeed neither was bleeding at the time. Got the PCPs off and returned to settle down and watch the end of the football, this is when I realised I had not got all of the banana up off of the carpet. Clouted my elbow as I tumble slipping on the tiniest blob of squashed banana.
If this diary was to made into a book (Comedy of course), folks reading it would think something like; Rubbish!, No one can have such bad luck! or maybe, Utter Tosh, don’t believe it!
Anne Gyna stopped me getting any sleep much, or rather getting off to sleep for hours, the latest I’ve been in getting the head down for months.
And yet, I don’t remember being concerned in the slightest about this?
