Fri 4 Sept 15: Inchcock Today

Wednesday 4th September 2015

01topa

Woke up where I fell asleep last night while watching TV – still I didn’t have to struggle up off the floor.

Think I had some amazing dreams, just a feeling but no memories of details.

Late, gone 0600hrs but then I stayed up late last night. Kettle and laptop on, found myself singing again as I visited the WC, that soon changed when I saw the bloodied jammies – ‘Little Inch’ had been bleeding badly last night, wondered if it was something in the dreams that caused it?

Cuppa and medications taken and took some photos through the kitchen window for the top of this diary.

Feeling well drained and the stomach was gurgling a bit. Too much to eat last night me thinks. Huh!

Finished yesterdays diary off then revisited the WC.

Did some Facebooking and checked emails.

Feeling a lot better now. Got myself spruced up and ready for me visit to the Woodthorpe Park Tropical Houses visit. Then I plan to go to Long Eaton to visit the Fultons Food store in search of blackcurrant ice-cream lollies.

Took me x30Z camera with me to take some photo’s of the Tropical House plants.

Met Diana Walker as I got in the lift gave her a letter for the previous tenant and a nibble.

Walked up the hill to the park and into the Tropical Houses place… oh dear, this is what I found:

Nothing tropical here!

Terribly disappointed I walked down into Sherwood and caught a bus into town – passing several of the Nottingham Pavement Cyclists en-route and throughout the rest of the day.

Why they don’t just scrap the law about riding cycles on the pavement I don’t know. The police show no signs of enforcing or pretending to enforce the law! This one nearly hit the policeman in the distance when he came out of the shop – not a sign of any admonishment from him. Tsk!

Caught the bus and got into town. Called in the pound shop and got some bread thins, then to the bus-stop over the other end of town and caught a bus into Long Eaton.

Found the Fultons Food store, and they had some blackcurrant ice-cream lollies in stock, so I took a risk of them melting on the way back and bought three boxes of six.

Had a wonder around taking in the memories the place installed in me mind of many years ago when I worked in the town.

Caught a bus back to Nottingham and wandered into the City Centre towards me bus stop for the L9 bus. Too early I had a wander around for half an hour taking some photographs as me ice-lollies slowly melted.

Clandestinely fed some pigeons a few seeds.

Using me new camera I took a close-up of some of them.

Walked up towards the bus stop on King Street and took a close-up of the statues on top of the building, hoping to show the cracks between the masonry slabs.

I’m still amazed at how they erected these in the first place, and how they have survived the blasting to clean them up.

Back to the flat and sated me hunger by making a nosh that I ate while watching me new TV in the arm chair.

Washed the pots afterwards and returned to catch the end of what I was watching on the goggle-box – that was it!

Into the land of nod.

Missed me evening medications – I’ll suffer for that later! in fact I am doing so now in the morning as I write this drivel.

Sat 29 Aug 15: Inchcock Today – Out of steam

Saturday 29th August 2015

0330hrs: I must have been dreaming when I woke up, because I could recall much of the last dream and even a bit of earlier ones I’d had last night! Noted them down straight away on me conveniently located notepad, located there for just this reason. It seems I had at least slept (albeit a dream ridden kip) for 9, I say Nine, hours! Amazing!

Got up with far less a struggle than of late, noticed I must have got up last night to get fodder, for there next to me notepad was an empty cheese biscuit and Marmite crisp bag, don’t recall fetching or eating them, yet I can remember the dreams?

Hobbled to the WC.

Put the kettle on and then returned to use the WC again?

Made a cuppa, laptop started first time (Phew!) and took me medications.

Made the headers for this diary then…

WC again! Oh dear me... three visits in an hour!

Still, no signs of any dizzies yet thankfully. You can’t believe how refreshing it is not to worry about going to sort things out at the old house again today.

I consulted me scribbled note about the dreams and here they are:

I was in a grocery shop like the one I had years ago but not that, one if you know worra mean. With hardly any stuff on the few shelves there were left in the barren looking place. It was painted nicely in a dark blue and the windows were massive, an urban scene outside but no people in it…

The door at the back of the shop led into a grand posh house? There were folk in their, but they seemed to ignore me, I don’t think they knew I was there when I was in front of them, ghosts perhaps? Or was I the ghost?

The family, Mam, Dad son and daughter were well spoken posh types, the lad seemed like a Hooray-Henry type. I didn’t recognise any of them.

I kept nipping back into the shop but there was never any customers.

Each time I returned to the house through this back door it was all differently laid out, but still with a blue colouring as the shop, different classy furniture, gigantic TV scene thingy but the folks were the same ones. All prim and proper, but still not acknowledging my presence. I kept nipping back into the shop to see if I had a customer.

After endless trip to the shop and back, a dog appeared with the family, and then they spoke to me to tell me off for bringing this disease ridden creature into My home (Teenage son speaking), Remove it or face the consequences my man!

I took the dog with me back into the shop, and fell in love with it, then the family from the back came into the shop and Mother wanted the dog back cause she was about to cook it for dinner? (Something about Quails lingers in my mind but I can’t fathom or remember this bit). The dog jumped up into my arms and I fed it some Warfarin tablets and, as the Son, now wearing a deerstalker hat aimed a double barrelled shotgun at me, I think I ran carrying the old dog to the shop front door falling over as I did so…

Maybe I woke up then, because I can’t remember anything of this dream after this.

I’ve never retained a dream as well as I have this one, and would appreciate any help with diagnosing the meanings, just interested like – remembering it so well and clearly?

But I can still remember bits of a dream I think I had earlier?

Corridors, dirty abandoned building, loads of doors, I was searching for something or someone but did not know who or what, but couldn’t stop myself searching, in each room, some were offices, others living rooms or bathrooms, I delved into drawers, cabinets every thing but without knowing what I was after finding – eventually after what seemed days to me in the dream a phone started ringing, and rang for yonks as I then started searching for that and found myself back at the start if the dream in that first corridor…?

WC visitation required again.

Remembered I’d got me Asda order coming this morning, so I was about to go to the bathroom to get missen spit and polished and I realised it was too early, cause I didn’t want to start running water this early and wake me neighbours up.

Had a bash on Facebook for a bit.

Asda food arrived and I put them away.

Got some donations for the Nottingham Hospice shop in a bag, and readied missen: Camera in pocket, mobile and bus-pass etc, to have a walk through Woodthorpe Park into Sherwood and the Nottingham Hospice shop.

Now you’d think this would be a relatively easy task…

I locked up and walked to the lift, got into the lift and started going down and thought. where’s that woman’s voice who talks to me usually when I go in the lifts?…

I went back up in the lift to the flat and put my hearing-aids in, walked to the lift, got into the lift, went down and as I was going through the doors out – felt in my left hand jacket pocket, usually dedicated to the camera and it weren’t there!

I felt sure I’d put it in earlier?

I went back in, up in the lift to the flat, searched and could I find it? Well eventually I did – in the cardigan pocket that I was wearing!

Tutting away to myself, I set off for the third time up and down through Woodthorpe Park into Sherwood, over the hill and down to the Nottingham Hospice Charity shop. Gave them the carrier bag of bits. Then out to the bus-stop and into town.

I had to get some cash from the bank to pay a bill, and thought I’d check how me balance was at the same time – I’ve make a few cock-ups with them ATMs in the passed, forgot me number, lost me card etc.

Caught the bus and dropped off on Mansfield Road near the Victoria Centre (Mall). Walked down and through Clinton Street.

Not as busy as usual I thought and walked through unmolested by mobility scooters, pavement cyclists, big issue sellers, being knocked into by anyone using the ipods for mobiles as they walked along, beggars or even any antisocial yobbos! Nice.

Called into John Lewis’s in the hope of getting some help with the remote they gave me with me new TV being different to the one in the manual and my not being able to find any instructions on the web.

Ha! They were that busy no one came near me or was even free for me to ask for help. I gave up.

Hobbled along and got to the bank. Where a very polite young man handed me the money requested and gave me the balance of my account. It ain’t good! I hope selling the house gets a move on on Tuesday when I ring Age UK Steve – but will he answer me? Time will tell.

Came out and worked out I had 20 minutes to go until the next L9 bus, but must not miss this as the one and last one of the day is two hours later.

Had a poddle around the slab square and took some photo’s.

I chickened out of taking one of four chaps all sat in a row on the low concrete wall and all dressed in the same gear and all playing on there mobile phones at the same time. It looked so photographable to me, but I didn’t know how they would react, so didn’t.

I was suddenly gripped with tiredness again – been happening a lot lately. But it was more surprising today, because I slept last night for a longer period I have done in years – and I ain’t done much physical today at all?

Walked up to the top of King Street and waited for the bus.

Almost as soon as it drove off I found myself fighting me eyelids to stay open, and it stayed like this all the way back to the flats.

Got up and in the flat and started making me nosh. Today was fish-day for Inchcock: Asda ‘Smartprice’ fish in batter (Cheapo but so tasty!), Youngs Battered fish cakes, boiled potatoes, beetroot, tomatoes and butter-beans.

Followed by the last of the Cornish clotted cream and lemon cheesecake.

Did a bit of touching up of the woodwork on me cabinet while it cooked – kept nipping into the kitchen to check it like.

Set up the table for me nosh and thought I’d try to watch some TV while eating cause there was a Sherlock Holmes on. Farcical idea – I really must get some help with this ruddy remote control thingy… Tsk!

WC’d, ‘Little Inchy’ and the haemorrhoids bleeding again. Getting low on me cream for him as well now. (Gobbledicrushums!)

The nosh was really really good – I gave it a rating of 8.8/10. However, I only just managed to stay awake long enough to wash the pots – (not seen the saucepan lid since???) when I just had to give in to me bodies demand for sleep?

Got me haemorrhoids cushion on the new brown chair, feet on the Ottoman and was off in seconds into the land of nod.

Woke three hours or so later, had a look for me mysteriously disappearing saucepan lid without any luck – made a cuppa and took me medications, I keep missing me midday ones yer know – not good this habit!

Laptop started with the intention of updating this dairy… no, diary, and doing some graphicalisationing prep work. But the sun was so strong coming through my uncurtained windows (summat else to do when I sell the house and get some cash to use – especially now I’ve seen how quick me balance is dwindling – Huh!).

I got a squeegee mop and extending clothes line stick and elastic banded the corners of me small throw on the ends of them, and got it up in the window so I could see me screen like – just as the sun went in seconds later! If anyone had seen me efforts they would have laughed out loud – I think I laughed out loud to start with too!

I stopped laughing the third time it all collapsed on me. But perseverance paid off in the end – mind you there’s time for it to collapse again yet – not that it matters so much now the blinding blinking sun’s gone in. Hehe!

The tea went cold, so I made another and conducted another none-successful search for the saucepan lid, it’s getting to me this is – Where the heck is it!

I even checked to see if I’d somehow left it in the bathroom as I made another visitation and cleaned up ‘Little Inchy’ yet again.

I wanted to make a start on the blog-post about Dunc and my efforts to get the clothe-racks erected, but concentration was lacking and believe it or not, I was feeling tired again??? Why how I asked myself… no answer came.

Just look at the sky now.

In between searches for the saucepan lid (Black with black handle 7″ wide) I put some photos on and did some Facebooking.

I say some Facebooking – I spent over four hours Facebooking.

Eventually getting me head down around 0300hrs.

Addicted? Me? Maybe.

Well… yes!

Tue 25 Aug 2015: Inchcock Today – He took a break from getting the house sorted – The little Monkey!

Tuesday 25th August 2015

0215hrs: Woke up aching all over and coughing and wheezing! (Oh dear boy, did I overdo it yesterday or what?) But I have to take help when I can get it don’t I? I thought to myself.

Finding somewhere that doesn’t ache or hurt in my wobbly-body this morning is proving difficult, nay, impossible!

Between me usual ailments and the newly accrued aches and pains from the last few days overdoing it like, I must say I may not complain if the end comes soon. There, now you all know. You will find me valuables all hidden in the lidded egg-cup wot I hid in the rusty black box full of sewing things in the bedroom – hidden inside a box marked “Life-like Blow-up dol…” well, its coloured pink… I amaze missen at times yer know. Here I am, not in the best of health and I should be morose and depressed, yet I still find missen writing jokes and humorous (I hope) funnies?

After losing me hearing aids, wrist health-alert alarm and me sanity in the last few days, I wonder what next. Hehe!

I keep getting ideas, and some passed to me for articles to do and post, but don’t feel I can concentrate enough at the moment, although I persist with this diary?

Made a cuppa and took me medications.

Got yesterdays diary finished and posted, started this one off, checked and answered to emails and comments, then did some Facebooking.

Got missen spruced up to go to the old place and do some more sorting out. Got to the bus-stop and me brother-in-law Pete rang…

Don’t you just hate that, there you are, bus-pass in hand gossiping at the bus stop outside the flat complex with around six other tenants waiting fer the bus… You see they have stopped talking, and a few moments later one of them tells you, your phone in your inside pocket is ringing and you take that long fumbling to get it out the caller has gone! Tsk!

Got on the bus – got off the bus and retrieved me free pensioners bus-pass from the pavement – got back on the bus, swiped the card and walked into the bus to be greeted with derision and laughter from the other folk for keeping them waiting. All light-hearted stuff though, I think.

I overheard someone behind me talking about the wall-clock from the reception area being nicked again. Apparently the replacement clock for one that disappeared last week, only lasted 5 hours this time before it was spirited away.

Pete rang back again. He wanted, being as this was the first day of the two new tram routes operating, to go on them. I was perhaps a little too keen to agree and miss doing the back-breaking work I should have been doing at the old place? Any road I said I’d meet him at his bus-stop in town.

I got into town with plenty of time to spare – glad I’d took me camera so I can photographicalise the tram routes for the Troll Free Zone gals and guys. As I went into Wilkinson’s to see if they had any of the place-mats I saw a bird on the roof of the pub that I’d never seen before (Not seen the bird not the pub before). I hastily got me camera out and focussed in close on it, as it flew away… not that it mattered… the camera informed me that there was no SCIM card in it – Grrr! I’d done it again and the card was back at the flat stuck in the laptop! That was the end of me photographic plans for the trip! Huh!

Got me mats and spatula then met Pete, we then made for the tram stop and caught the one to Chilwell. Getting on the tram was like packing sardines in a can – nearly all the passengers were old foggies like wot I am or screaming balling kids! The seats were uncomfortable. Not complaining like, just mentioning these things.

Trying to communicate with Pete amidst the deaf pensioners shouting at each other and the mega-gobby kids was not easy. Pete I reckon is as deaf as I am but vanity prevents him from getting hearing-aids.

We then returned on the next tram and dropped off at the station, then Pete wanted catch the other new service tram to Clifton – so we did. Not a pleasant outing but Pete seemed to enjoy it – he likes owt that’s free yer know – he gets his spectacles from the pound shop shop, not that he’ll wear em if any women are around, vanity again see – but don’t tell him I told yer mind so fer gawds sake!

Again we caught the next tram back, and as a little girl fainted right in front of me, as luck would have it, we were at the stop for the Queens Medical Centre. So her parents and sister took her off and into the hospital.

Pete dropped off to catch his bus at the station and I went on into the slab square in the City centre. Then into Primark to see if they had any of the strong socks in stock – as usual I came out a little worse off financially, but with some socks, underpants and a dressing gown. I have now sworn not to go in there again until I get the house sorted and sold!

I had a wander around until it was time for the last bus from town to the flats.

I was soon on the bus and met Norman with his mate as we got off we started to have a little natter as the rain started to come, we nipped into the flats as the Fire Alarm sounded and was told to nip out of the flats by Deana who appeared from inside to check the location on the fire panel – Norman wanted to go in to this flat, but the indicator said the fire was in the lift.

So we went out and awaited the fire brigade – Four tenders turned up in five minutes.

While we were waiting for the all-clear from the officers, for some reason both Arthur Itis and Anne Gyna gave me a painful visit with venom. Suddenly I was hobbling and struggling for breath like yesterday and first thing this morning?

We got the all clear and we went up and I got me washing ready in’t bag, the soap capsules, me camera and the SCIM card, crossword book, me umbrella and some nibbles and went down and got me washing in the machine.

Then thought I’d nip through the Park into Sherwood and get some bread.

So I did, glad I’d got me umbrella cause the rain came heavier on the way to the shops.

I called in the Co-op, but as it was getting late they had little choice left.

I walked down to the polish shop, where I held the door open to let in a none-talking lady.

No thanks and she got served first of course.

Tsk!

I walked out and back up to the Co-op and got a pack of bread thins after all.

The traffic was getting busy as I hobbled back to the top of the hill.

The rain kept up this on the way back too. But I managed to take a photo of a tree stump that had been cut into the shape of a seat – somehow I hadn’t noticed this before.

I pressed on and through the park back Woodthorpe Court through the not unpleasant rain and wonderful green coloured surroundings.

Back at the flats and inside the entrance foyer, I took a photographicalisation through the side window of Mugger Lane where the car parks and garages are between the beautiful trees as the rain belted down.

Back into the laundry room to see if me washing had finished, and a few minutes later it  did.

I transferred me togs into the drier and sat in one of the reception area seats and did some of me crossword book for an hour or so until the clothes were done – then packed them into me big Lidl bag.

The laundry room always reminds me of Alcatraz.

Got the lift back up to the flat, put away me togs.

Wash and got me new thin dressing gown and jammy bottoms ready to wear. (Not warm enough!).

Used me new racks in the bedroom for the first time.

A break in the rain and I tried me new camera out with a photo taken from the kitchen window on full zoom of a dog kennel (or maybe a shed?) far away. Pleased with it.

Made a cuppa and took me medications – missed me midday ones – Humpf!

Laptop on and updated this twoddle.

Got me nosh done – herb tomatoes with streaky smoked bacon and bread thins followed by low-cal blackcurrant jelly.

Simple nosh but tasted grand! I rated this as 8.4/10.

Got into me new jammy-bottoms and long top then got me head down.

Well tired yet again.

Fri 7 Aug 2015: Inchcock Today – So busy he’s worn himself out. Poor mite!

Friday 7th August 2015

0405hrs: Woke, WC’d and got the laptop and kettle on.

Mused over me dreams: I’d got the old place sorted and sold… I was so glad and happy to be able to concentrate on the flat and had a load of people visit me, and they all wanted vegetarian sausages to eat?

Then I was at a football match and ran on the pitch, tackled Wayne Rooney and served him with a writ for knocking off a £2000 a time prostitute and being rude and crude in public?

I was glad  the cramps again had not been too bad last night – but still intend to get some magnesium tablets today from Holland & Barrett’s.

Spent ages finishing yesterdays Diary and doing graphics.

Had a wash shave and spruced missen up. The angina was a bit rough with me, the haemorrhoids bleeding but otherwise not too bad at all.

Got me bag with Sister Jane and brother-in-law Pete’s nibbles, letters delivered for Margaret the previous tenant to hand in at the community shed, and the paperwork I needed for Steve of Age UK when I meet him later at the old dump and cash and bus-pass.

Off to the shed and handed in the letters to the Obergruppenfurher.

To the bus stop and had a nice chat with some of the other residents.

Got the Magnesium Tablets at last

Dropped off the bus in town and had an amble to Holland and Barrett’s to view the Magnesium on offer. They had sprays, creams and tablets.

Being as the tablets of 100 one-a-day pills were on offer, buy two get the second for a penny… I did.

Walked to Pete’s bus-stop and met him. We had a little natter and worked out where we needed to visit.

I wanted to buy a battery operated radio for the bathroom with preselect channels and a clock to replace the one I dropped and broke – and Pete needed to go to the Asian shop for some cheesey seaweed, and Wilkinson’s for some bits.

We went around several shops looking for a radio but the cheapest we could find was £49.99, so I decided against it.

We went into Wilkinson’s Pete got his bits and I got a £3 alarm clock, same model as the one I broke.

Then we plodded to the Asian shop and i joined Pete in getting a pack of the cheesey seaweed fer missen.

Walked into the City Centre to have a look to see if any of the charity shops had a battery radio for sale – they didn’t.

A Dangerous Nottingham Pavement Cyclist

The plonker on the bike across the road was one of the most dangerous gits of Nottingham Pavement Cyclists I’ve ever come across, he was on his phone as he drove along the pavement and actually hit one woman and just carried on! Tsk Nasty Ignorant Swine!

Left Pete at his bus-stop after our second failed search to find a radio had concluded.

Hobbled up to Parliament Street, buying a salad cob on the way to the bus-stop.

Got off in Carrington and nervously made me way to the old house. Where I overdid it with the lifting and sorting. Made up four large bags of stuff for the flat. Then managed to carry some furniture out to the bins for the looters to take later. Then put weed-killer on the garden weeds, and there were many there.

I was lucky enough to find a part-used tube of Betmethasone corticosteroid cream and put that in me bag to treat ‘Little Inchy with in the morning if he’s been bleeding again.

Age UK’s Steve does some phoning for me

Utterly fatigued and me back was playing something rotten by the time Steve arrived at the house.

He rang BT for me to cancel me phone and Internet – found there would be a £42 charge for leaving them. And we had to ring them back on the 18th to confirm our decision?

Then he rang British Gas (You know them… the French company!) They informed us there would be a £30 fee, one months payment costs and 59p a day charge until we informed them the house had been sold???

I was losing heart by then.

Steve and I went upstairs which started me arthritis off to join Anne Gyna and me bad back. Feeling pretty weary and unwell by now. Steve brought some stuff down and then lifted me and two of the bags back to the flat, bless him.

I was so some pleased things had got done for once, but not pleased with state of health at all.

He came in with me and reclaimed his blow-up mattress that he’d lent me.

After he went I did feel a bit poorly, but forced missen to eat the cob with a cuppa. Didn’t feel hungry enough to bother making a meal – so drained.

Got me next lot of medications pots sorted and done

Did this diary and then had to sort out me medication pots to make sure the old and new ones had some magnesium tablets in each pot – that took over an hour, but I was pleased I’d got it done.

Remembered to put the Betamethasone cream in the bathroom so it’d be handy for the morning if needed.

Late Nosh – with slightly burnt pasty

Sudden Hunger pangs now – so made a quick nosh, instant cheesey potatoes, pasty, beetroot and tomatoes.

I may have overdone the pasty a touch?.

Way passed me bedtime now.

Must try to get some of laundry done tomorrow, it’s stacking up yer know…

And some of the paperwork to get sorted and shredded, oh, and get the cupboards emptied ready for the Nottingham Homes man to destroy the kitchen cabinets and drawers when they fill in the holes in the wall… Tsk, work work work… I’m working ‘arder now than when I actually working – Huh!

Sat 18 July 2015: Inchcock Today – Huh!

Saturday 18th July 2015

Went to kip late last night and soon nodded off into a deep sleep for two hours – after that I was waking every half hour it seemed, filled with dread and apprehension in response to dreams?

I can’t recall a lot about them just bits here and there. Being chased again, underwater and helping a surgeon remove me fingers who kept squirting WD40 onto them?

Bolt awake late around 0640hrs. WC’d and found the fresh cream cakes I’d had delivered with last nights Tesco visit lying on the heater in the hall – Huh!

Made a cuppa titivated the kitchen and returned to the WC. Mmm?

Laptop on and got yesterdays diary done and posted. Much stuff to respond to on Facebook. So I went on there for a good while then started a post for the LOMM site.

Despite the sunshine it’s cold this morning. I’m not opening the window, I can see the trees swaying violently in the wind – that is also coming into the kitchen via the hole in the wall – Tsk!

WC’d. Had a good scrub up and shave, got me togs on, got the washing ready in the bag – remembering to take the softener and soap capsule with me and set off down the laundry room.

Met me next flat neighbour as we both opened our door together. Had a little chin-wag, then to the lift and down.

No one in the laundry room so I got the machine going. Went out into the foyer to read me book, the plan was to have a little walk and take some photographs while the drier was on, cause that takes an hour.

I’d forgot to take me book down with me. So went back up and got it, brought it back down and sat in one of the high easy hairs to read it. I kept nodding off, and each time someone came in or out, the Tannoy blasted out “There is CCTV in operation in this building” to wake me and I got funny looks from whoever came in or out. Hehe! Did more kipping than reading I think.

Got me togs put away and despite the vicious looking wind I went out for a walk up to the park.

I took this photo of the stubby grass being blown in the wind to show how hard the wind was a-blowing.

Decided not to go too far.

On the way up the hill from the back of the flats the hillside has so many daisies bravely blossoming in the grass defying the cruel winds.

Up to the top and passing the kids play area – even with the wind (mind you I had me new hearing aid-batteries in wot I installed earlier) I could hear and lip-read the language being thrown about verbally by the parents and kids themselves… very crude!

Over the other side of the hill was some Pitch and Putt players enjoying a game.

I was a bit nervous in case a stray sliced shot came in my direction like?

I turned and took a photo of Woodthorpe an Winchester Court from a different angle, to ones I did earlier.

It was getting more windy than ever – I bet the pitch and putters were cursing it when they had to putt?

Then I wandered to the left and the gravel path that leads down to the flats, the one the local dog owners use daily for their dogs to relieve themselves and took one from the front side of the flats.

I noticed that the three flats immediately above mine each had some balcony furniture in use.

I only got two hairs in the flat yet. Tsk!

I returned wind-battered to the flats and visited the WC and made a cuppa.

Then I found two letters on the floor that had been delivered. More Bills! One for me and one for Margaret the previous tenant, both from Severn-Trent.

I cleaned out me hearing-aid accoutrements bag that had got wet and dirty when I moved them in. I took a photo of them on the kitchen window and noticed the Emergency Alarm wrist band button there – and thought, hang-on, if I’m paying for this service as I am… why should the monitoring station phone up yesterday to tell me the battery power was showing too low and have me test it through their line, then tell me they would inform Nottingham City Homes and when i mentioned this to those in charge at the Community shed, they just said I’ll come and have a look Monday or Tuesday? Not on that! Swines!

I mentioned the trouble I’ve been having with maintenance people to a bloke yesterday, the lock being fitted and not working, the giant hole in the wall no one seemed interested in etc. and he said:”Tell me about it, yer can’t get owt done properly here!” and he tutted, shook his head mumbled summat and went off to this flat. Don’t bode well does it?

Made me nosh. cheesey beans, bacon and beetroot.

I enjoyed this too.

Hell of a job to get the pans clean afterwards. Huh!

Did a bit of Facebooking and took me medications.

TTFN all.

Nottingham Then and Now: Part 2: The Elite Cinema, Upper Pariament Street

Memories of The Elite Cinema, Upper Pariament Street, Nottingham

The Elite was one of the first in a new breed of ‘super-cinema’ to be built in Nottingham. Designed by the London architectural firm of Adamson & Kinns, the facade and exterior side walls were treated in an expensive white glazed tiling and contained statues along the upper portion of the building. Internally the decoration was carried out by interior designer Fred A. Foster who created a stunning interior with the auditorium walls lined with wood panels and a great deal of decorative plaster. Seating was provided in stalls and circle levels.

It opened on 22nd August 1921 with Mary Pickford in “Pollyanna”. There was a grand concert organ by the firm of Willis-Lewis which had 78 stops, plus a full orchestra. The facilities within the building also included a a restaurant, a Georgian Tea Room, a French Cafe in Louis XVI style and a large ballroom located on the top floor.

In the reception was a gigantic ornate open coal-fired fire-place.

The first ‘talkie’ in Nottingham was shown at the Elite Picture Theatre, George Jessel in “Lucky Boy” and after its screening, the cinema was closed for several weeks in July 1929 for a refurbishment.

A new Compton 2Manual/6Ranks organ was installed which was opened by Cyril Birmingham.

24 June 1929: The talking picture show had been introduced two years earlier in America with Al Jolson’s The Jazz Singer.

The first full-length ‘talkie’ film in Nottingham were shown at the Elite Cinema.

Organist Jack Helyer, in his white coat and tails, entertained audiences with their favourite tunes.

Peoples best memories was of the open fire in the foyer, especially when they arrived at he cinema and it was cold and icy outside!

Mon 22.6.2015: Inchcock Today: Feeling anxious for some reason?

Monday 22nd June 2015

Sprang awake at 0300hrs and lay there fretting and pondering on how I was going to get any sorting done today – GP INR Warfarin level tests at the GP surgery at noon today.

Gloomy this morning.

Got some sorting done and rubbish to the bin, and put me ironing board outside with someone elses give-aways near their garage.

Made a cuppa, then thought I’d photograph the give-away stuff with me ironing board amongst them a few minutes later – and me ironing board had gone already!

At this time in the morning (0414hrs).

Did the header for this diary and Facebooked a while – soon feeling guilty and started to do some much-needed shredding.

While sorting out in the kitchen I came across a net of Marmite cheese that had fallen behind some rubbish – I’d tell you the sell-by date but as Victor Mildrew nearly used to say in his ‘One Foot in the Grave’ shows: “You wouldn’t believe it!”

Pressed on with sorting and shredding again.

Had a wash shave and changed and set off for the GP surgery.

Had me blood test and chin-wag with the Obergruppenführer… I mean Surgery Nurse.

When I left the rain was a-falling.

I’d hoped to get a walk into town in, but caught the bus instead. Thank heavens for me free pensioners bus-pass!

When I arrived in town the Nottingham Citizenry were proving their ability to cross the lights against the red lighted pedestrian signal, yet again. This them it had been on red for a good while, and a bus came around the corner and tapped his horn and one of the illegal crosses of the road actually put his two fingers up to the bus driver!

Visit Nottingham, the Queen of the Midlands the advert says. Hehe!

I had a good long walk around Nottingham taking photographs of certain areas so I could make a post “Nottingham Then and Now” with photographs from the past and today of the same things later.

Good job I didn’t walk to town, because by the time I’d finished trekking all over the City me feet and knees were killing me.

I called in the Nottingham Transport shop to ask what number bus does the route between Nottingham and Woodthorpe Park where the new flat is situated, and where it goes from in town.

After the lady consulted a map and the other Maidenoberführerin… I mean assistants, she suggested I go to Broad Marsh (Which I trudged through earlier on me photo-hunt) and ask there.

Peeved a little, I called in the Nottingham information Centre under the Council House and asked them – within 5 minutes they had given me the location, the number and a map.

I staggered (Well the knees were really bad, I knew summat was in the wind weather-wise) up to the bus stop and caught the bus back to the hovel.

When I got off the bus the flipping wind was howling and folk were struggling to walk against it, and it went really dark as the rain started to trickle down a bit with it.

Called in the Co-op and got some of their bread-thins to have with me later re-planned nosh tonight.

I was going to have the last of me BBQ Chicken with some mashed spuds – but when I got back to the flea-pit, put the kettle on, got the chicken out of the fridge – it was passed it’s sell-by date – I know that feeling Haha!

So it’ll be Sliced potatoes in onion sauce and sausages from the freezer later – I added some black-bean cooking sauce?

Don’t know where the desserts came from…

I wasn’t up to doing any more sorting so updated this diary… and ate two mini-swiss rolls.

Ate me nosh then did some Facebooking.

Despite me feeling tires I had a heck of job getting to sleep – Tsk!

Thu 18 June 2015: Sheltered Flat Hunt – progress at last!

Thursday 18th June 2015

Woke around 0420hrs – really tried to remember the dreams I’d had, but only vague bits came to me. Something about being chased by women in an abandoned office block?

When I moved to answer the call to the porcelain I noticed the pain from the wound was a lot less – that’ll soon be put to rights by the Obergruppenfurher Practise nurse this afternoon mind, when she rips off the dressing cleans the wound and applies another dressing?

Some blood from the haemmoroids this morning. The sore throat was rampant still, the voice sounded a bit better to me, less croaky. The angina and arthritis was calm and passive. The duodenal ulcer no bother. The reflux valve beahaving itself nicely. Little Inch not bleeding, although the lesion seems to be widening? And, yesterday I had only one dizzy spell. Things looking good… perhaps I shouldn’t have said that?

Made a cuppa and took me medications, put the water heater on. Then strted this old laptop to finish and post yesterdays Inchcock Today.

Then did an extra post in rhyme (Of sorts) about me flat hunting recently and got it done.

Then made a funny post about life when you get old like.

Had a wash and brush-up.

Then went down and made another cuppa and got the new laptop on to do the graphics for them and get it posted.

Susan from Nottingha City Homes rang to confirm she’d put in a bid for me for the 72 Woodthorpe Flat in the high-rise block. She said she’d ting me back wit the result.

I set off on me walk to Colville Court to meet Steve.

I’d only got about 5oo yeards and the mobile rang. It stopped before I could answer, it was from Susan. During the walk I rang back 23 times, unfortnately all I got on each call was three beeps and no connection?

I waited outside the complex fro 15 minutes for Steve to arrive – during which a pillock on an illegal mini-motorbike kept belting by as his continually ran around the block. It was at this stage I made me mind up not to apply to live there – no point in escaping one set of yobs to find another at the new place?

When Steve arrived we went inside to view some of the flats. I must admit they were goreous, well thought out, and in mint condition, even though a bit more rent than the Council ones. But the local yobs had put me off by then.

I had a chin-wag with Steve and he rand Susan to confirm my interest in the flat at Woodthorpe (Sherwood).

Steve was on holiday next week, but he arranges with Sue for me go and sign the paperwork and sort options out on Monday 29th June, and I was assured it was mine despite the long wait.

My internet contributions will be reduced now, as I have to press on getting things sorted and ready for the move? Please bear with me folks.

Left Steve and walked into town to see if the EE shop could increase my allowance on the sim-card hire. But couldn’t provide them with enough details. I reckon they have een lost in the sorting out process? Oh dear.

Caught the bus home and updated this diary.

Have go in a bit to have me wound cleaned and redressed at the GP surgery.

Hard to say how I feel at the moment – so glad to have got somewhere but unsure if I’ve done the right thing if yer know what I mean.

And so worried about sorting it all out and getting it into order – but Steve will be back on the 29th and will advise and guide me I’m sure.

He said to concentrate on getting stuff I aim to take with me ready for transportation first.

Might treat missen to a lamb shank, potatoes and garden peas nosh tonight. Got to use up the freezer stuff – mind you, I’ve got to use up the dated stuff as well… Oh dear…

Went to see Nurse and was seen to early – all cleaned and re-dressed. I’ve not got to get it wet and to be careful she said, any bleeding and come back to see her. It feels much easier now though – mind you, it was bad.

So I’ll see how I go with starting some sorting again in the morning.

Hobbled back to the dump added this to diary and got me nosh cooking.

Rated 4/10.

The lamb shank was from Tesco. It was not very good, the gravy tastless, the peas (Also Tesco brand) were a tad bitter, but the potatoes (Lidl) were okay.

I was so tired out and soon got me head down after sending an email to PAtti Berkert telling her about the flat. She’s been through so much and is finally getting herself better, and has been such a caring friend. Thanks Patti.

TTFN all.

Fri 12.6.15: Inchcock Today – Skin Cancer surgery – Whoopsiedangleplops, it’s all go innit?

Friday 12th June 2015

Woke at 0430hrs. Not feeling good.

No dreams remembered at all?

Thought about me tasks to get sorted today: Finish yesterdays diary and get it posted (I was just too tired to do it last night), start this diary off, contact the clinic and beg their forgiveness for missing me appointment and make another, contact Steve with update on the Colville housing application… there’s bound to be others.

No one on the street this morning

Cuppa made, and laptop on – email from Guinness saying my application had been forwarded to Chesterfield for consideration.

I’m feeling very heavy eye-lidded this morning. Suppose yesterdays long day of tasks completed didn’t help.

Another cuppa and took me medications.

Can’t get any shredding or sorting done with all these appointments to tend too.

Finished yesterday diary and got it posted. Did some Facebooking.

Had a good bath and scrub-up.

Then off and caught the bus into town, then another out to the QMC treatment centre. Walked round to the back of the compound in into it and up to Cancer treatment section G. Handed in me paperwork and waited until  I was called in.

To the waiting room locker and got changed as instructed by the highly intoxicating nurse.

Then taken into the treatment room where they started on removing some of me infected back for analysis.

They took me INR level to make sure it was safe to dig out me infected bits to test first.

It took them well over and hour to sort me out – with me laying on me face as they chatted away about why the doctor had the email of one of the nurses and not the other?

Eventually the stitches were put in, and a massive double pressure pad was applied then a gigantic plaster. When one of the nurses told me the eleven stitches must be protected, I mustn’t do anything physical for four days at least, must go to the GP with the paperwork she gave me to arrange the stitches to come out on the 24th June. If it bled I was to stand against a wall pressing backwards for at least half an hour and summon assistance?

She then took me in the anti-room and gave me a much appreciated cup of tea, telling me to sit there as long as it took for me to feel well enough to wander home.

The bus wot I missed pulling away from the bus stop – never mind eh…Tsk!

I dropped off the paperwork for the receptionist and staggered down the two flights of stair, out and around the compound to the front to catch a bus to town.

I saw one at the bus stop and hastened best I could up the winding path to the same level and just managed to miss it as I drew close it pulled away. Hey-ho!

The Old Guildhall – unused since it closed

When I got off the bus in town, I thought what a shame it was the old Guildhall building was still unused.

A grand looking and character ridden part of old Nottingham.

I imagined a McDonalds, Pay-day loan sharks, one of the £3 a cup coffee shops, Mobile phone companies or maybe a pawnbroker or two might have been interested? Only joking like.

The pain from me back started stinging as the pain-killer began to wear off, and I still felt so tired.

One of any Gits Cycling on the Pavement today

Took a photo through the bus window of one of the many many Nottingham Pavement Cyclist I saw during the day.

I has this idea come to me like – feeling confident that I as about to get a sheltered flat fairly soon, and not being able to carry owt from the shops while the stitches were in – I’d sign up for Tesco on-line and order a load of long-life nosh and cleaners etc and put them into the bags I’ve got ready to take with me. As it turned out, not one of me better ideas at all... more about this later like.

Me visits here are getting a bit too frequent too!

Dropped off the bus and walked to the GP surgery where I gave them the paperwork and explained about needing an appointment on the 24th fer the removal of the stitches. She looked on her computer and said I have an appointment on the 23rd. But none of us knew why? So she moved it to the 24th with the stitches one.

I later found out the 23rd one was for me CHD checks. Must let her know on Monday.

Mansfield Road near the GP surgery

Surprisingly there was not much traffic on Mansfield Road.

That was until I tried to cross the road of course.

So I wobbled painfully up to the pelican lights and as I crossed on the green man, a ruddy Cyclist nearly had me as the idiot didn’t stop on his red lights!

Still flt a little bit giddy and the wound was really stinging now as I made me way back to the flea-pit.

Got in and WC’s, even sitting down is painful.

What a bloomin’ Day!

I decided to sign on the Tesco site and did so successfully. Then put me order in – but when it came to paying – it kept telling me the card was suspended  and I had to call the Co-op bank – so at great expense I did.

They informed me the card was not suspended and they had no claims for cash from Tesco?

So I rang the Tesco, so called helpline. (Helpline! Huh!)

The chap eventually after keeping paying for the call for ages – it was suspended now after I’d tried so often to get it accepted.

So I called the Co-op bank again and explained what was occuring – it had been suspended by Visa – (Eventually gawd knows how much must have cost me) she said she would cancel the suspension, but it would talk two hours to clear.

Well pee’d off I rang off and started to update this diary while I waited the two hours to try and pay Tesco again!

What a crap day I’m having! Intense pain, Whoopsidangleplops and try as I might, I don’t seem able to get any decent sleep in – Huh, Tsk and bother!

I just made a cuppa, and it even hurts to lift the cup to me gob… though

I shouldn’t be surprised, it hurts when I do nothing as well. Just a bit worse when I move anything.

I’m dreading it if I sneeze! Hehe

Well, it’s been two hours and ten minutes – so I’ll risk trying to pay Tesco again – Oh dear, here we go…

Gordon Bennet! Had to do a new Tesco password now…

Aha… Success!

The nosh it took me three hours to get round to eating!

That means tomorrow I can at least get some packing of stuff to take with me done… and maybe a bit of shredding too… wound permitting.

YeeHaa!

Better get me nosh done.

Refried means, bacon and sausages.

Unfortunately as I came to shutting down me laptop, I got a message telling me there was an update for Coreldraw 7x – so I thought (I keep doing that recently, thinking… it does me no good yer know!), I’d just download it. It took about 15 minutes… then I was informed it needed a restart to take effect…

The green start screen came on – message on it: Restarting.

That was a hour and a half ago! Not sure if something wrong or is it the installation of the Coreldraw update that’s taking all time?

I seem fated not to get any sleep or eat me nosh.

Well another half hour as gone by now, I’ll go and check it again, hang on please…

No, no luck yet, still the green ‘Restarting’ screen.

Eventually started eating me nosh on me knee waiting for the laptop to finish restarting. It was still good reheated, Excellent taste! Rated 8/10.

Managed to take a photo by painfully distorting my body to get me hand up and behind me to take a photo of me wound dressing to see if I could see any blood leaking. A bonus here I caught a bit of the wound I got on me head when I banged it on the cupboard door. Hey-ho – Carry on regardless!

Struggled to take a photo of me dressing on the surgery wound to see if any blood had leaked out, but couldn’t get a shot of the lower 2/3rd of the dressing. And it toook me over nine attempts to get this one.

Hey-ho.

Had to lay in a contorted position to avoid pressing on it and I consequently got very little sleep again.

Huh! TTFN all.

Wed 10.6.2015: Inchcock Today

Wednesday 10th June 2015

Woke at 0530hrs, Porcelain visitation a lot easier this morning.

In the dreams I’d had, one about Patti Berkert I could remember bits of: Patti, Lynton and I were in a giant teepee – Patti wearing exotic native Indian head-wear telling me off for something or other, Lynton kept hitting me with a purple coloured bamboo cane whenever I spoke… inside with us were a giant typewriter, an artists easel and a Monopoly game? That’s all I can recollect. But it gave an the idea for a graphic for Patti. Which I managed to get done later and posted this off to Facebook and Patti.

Down, laptop on, made a cuppa, fed the pigeons and took me morning medications and changed me dressing, managing with ultimate ease to bang missen on the head on the corner of the cupboard door  – I believe I might have swore! Oh poetry!

Started this diary off and did header in Coreldraw x7.

Then I worked on something I’ve been planning for ages now – a graphicalisation of Patti Bekert in Native Indian clobber. This took three hours, up to now, but I really wanted to do it and hope cross-fingered that Patti likes it.

I’ve put Lynton on this version being as he had the nerve to come into me dreams… Tsk!

As I was finishing off the graphic making new pains shot across me chests – I don’t think it’s the angina this time.  My reflux valve that is normally protruding has disappeared from view and feel as well, no lumpy extrusion? Just a sight or feel of any raised bits?

Today I must go to the GP surgery to book me INR Warfarin blood level test with the surgery nurse, and take some nibbles to the Launderette gal. Thursday going to the hospital with Pete to have his skin cancer cut out and tested again. Friday it’s my turn to have the same at the same place. Friday I must also go to the City Homes and Guinness Homes in search of sheltered housing at a price I  can afford.

I’d better get myself ready now, and get off. Spit and polish time then…

It’s the first time I’ve passed the St Johns graveyard during the day and found no dogs in it – thought I’d mention it like.

Plodded on to the GP surgery where I asked the receptionist for an appointment early on Tuesday so I could keep me appointment with Steve from Age UK Concern about viewing the flats available.

After much ado, I settled for one on the Monday  (A day early like)

Nipped to the launderette and gave the gal her nibbles.

Then, off to the bus-stop to go to town…

Oh dear oh dear oh dear! No bus-pass in me pocket and the zip on the pocket was down!

A quickish hobble back to the dump and search for it was fruitless!

So, I walk into town was called for in an effort to see if it has been handed into the City Transport Travel centre, where I got it from in the first place.

So off down Mansfield Road and through the City Centre and to South Parade where the centre is.

A little further on, and this young git of a Nottingham Pavement Cyclist actually caught my left arm/shoulder as he belted by me!

They keep coming don’t they! Tsk!

I don’t think he even knew he’s done it as he just carried on threatening the other pedestrians as he disappeared into the distance.

Down and across into Clinton Street and bravely through the milling crowds I continued on me quest.

Down and around the back of the Nottingham Council House, and right onto South Parade and down to the City Transport offices to see if me bus-pass had been handed in and how to get a new one if not.

It’s near the tram stop and Betfred bookies, just passed the pub.

I went in and explained the situation to the lady, who took me details and checked to see if it had been handed in.

It hadn’t – and I asked her if I should try the Transport Centre in Broadmarsh. She said “No point, they usually get handed in here, and we can do nothing about re-issuing you with one until 48 hours has passed from your losing it!” I explained that it was over 24 hours now – but she didn’t seem too interested and told me call back in a day.

So I poddled down to Broadmarsh anyway, being stubborn and worried like.

En route there was a five man street entertainment band giving out some jazz near Marks & Spencers.

Had things not been so hectic and me worried about me bus-pass I might have donated a bit and stopped to listen to them.

I got to Broadmarsh bus-station and into the Transport centre there.

I explained things to the lady there – and she said there would be a £10 replacement charge if I needed one, and took me details and went to check.

She has lovely smile on her face when she returned – with the Bus-Pass!

Someone had handed it in – boy was I glad! Good job I didn’t take the advice from the other woman on South parade innit?

Me feet and knees were hurting badly now – but somehow I didn’t mind.

I limped back through to the City Centre slab square and waited for a tram so I could go to Bulwell to see if they had any cheapo microwave sausages in stock yet.

I was going to take photo of a family playing in the fountains.

But being as another Nottingham Pavement Cyclist came into view, I took her instead.

Swiped me treasured Bus-pass on the machine and waited the arrival of the tram.

Not never seen owt like it when it arrived – I nearly got mangled in the flood of aggressive passengers storming it to get on! Cor blimey, talk about risky business!

I got into Bulwell and visited some shops that might have had the sausages in stock that I wanted, but no.

I took a Bling photo for the folk on TFZ.

Then back to the bus station and caught the bus home to Carrington.

A few yobs lurking now the better weather is here. Tsk!

WC’d made a cuppa, and marinated me baked beans with Patti’s curried bean additions ready for me nosh of beans and bacon later.

Updated me Google diary with the appointments I’d made during the day.

Then updated this ‘ere diary.

Aching legs and feet, but so happy to and grateful to whoever handed in me bus-pass.

Got up to make a cuppa and boy did I have a dizzy spell – alright now, but I must inform the nurse on Monday about the increase in severity and frequency of these.

By gum I enjoyed me nosh tonight!

Varied the ingredients in the curried beans a bit this time:

1 pinch curry powder – Worcestershire sauce – half teaspoon Unrefined brown sugar – black pepper – BBQ Tomato ketchup – sultanas – basil and caramelised red onion relish. Not bad at all. Rated it: 8/10. Mind you, the bacon was Gammon misshapes this time.

Going upstairs had a dizzy at the top and I went over. All okay though, banged me elbow that’s all. I’m hoping there will be no more Whoopsiedangleplops for a while now.

Hey-ho!

TTFN all.
