What a slog of a day. Confusion, delusion, disappointment, a memory blank or two, and forever sort of in semi-control, couldn’t-care-less, and or Fretting about having nothing to fret over modes.Honestly, I worry about myself at times, then sink into an almost, but not quite there, semi-accepting-everything without bothering period. And even with the Carers and the nurse calling, I spent far too long on this blog. But enjoyed it… apart the the self-detrimental and imitation happy-go-lucky periods. Which were all mingled together at times. Talk about up & down! Humph!.
04:45hrs: Great colour this morning. I felt tired out still, and had to encourage myself to escape the c1966, £300 Oxfam charity shop bought, second-hand, itchy, wincingly grotty, beige coloured, crumb-covered from my nocturnal nibblings, itch-making, uncomfortable, positively unhealthy & dangerous, no longer operational, virus-breeding, easy-to-fall-out-of catheter-tube-trapping, recliner. Caught my balance, and began to revert to my usual morning state of confusion and more confusion.
Ablutions and the first of the four visits to the Throne. Each event was of a similar nature. Apart from this first evacuation, that is. I think a slow starter? Yet I could feel the bubbling and brewing from within, and I fully anticipated the usual of late, ‘Splushes-Splashes’ and all-done routine in seconds. But No! I spent several minutes counting the cracks on the ceiling, and then I got the crossword book and spent ages on them. Not that I got many answers in, but enjoyed it all the same. Then, the motion started and finished in seconds. Why the delay, I don’t know, I’m sure.
The legs are getting fatter at the top, and the left is thinner at the bottom.
I must report that the getting rather annoying, and bothersome is getting uncomfortable and causing lesions on the skin? With
Waste bags were collated. And left in the hallway close to the front door for collection by the kind carer. At this stage, I had a little bother when suddenly gave up the ghost momentarily. But being in the hallway was a help, as I could reach and use the walls to prevent any tumbling onto the floor. Yes, I had not taken a stick with me. Tsk! Lucky really!
I took this with the window open from inside the balcony, at the right end, facing North, towards Daybrook, Arnold and eventually Mansfield. The rain was coming, and the mudslide growing. Then some snaps of the weather, and views from the kitchenette windows. But I did my bestestist! Hehe!
The weather made getting a decent shot taken rather difficult. Yes, they were not so good either today. Why? I’ve no idea. So I cleaned the glasses later & washed the eyes.
Returned to close the balcony window I’d left open. (The rain & wind coming in prompted me to! Hehe!) And spotted a new vehicle in the car park from the earlier photo. So took this shot with it in. A motorbike, paramedic, or police possibly?
Either way, not a good sign.
This may have been a mistakenly taken picture?
The last view of my leg’s condition was before the District Nurse arrived minutes later. bless her cotton socks, to sort me out with new paraphernalia straps & bandages!.
The arrival of any nurse always cheers up near toothless Inchy! Haha!
The nurse had brought a lot of new gear to use on me again today. I felt so cared about! I was smiling, joking and in fine mental form… Honestly!
More spare compression bandages and lesion pads. A big bagful. It looks to me like it will be a long job anticipated in getting the legs sorted out? A new black wind-on compression sock. The nurse first removed the bandage from the right leg. I loved the ridges it had left on the skin, and I asked her if she’d take a photo of it, for me to use on the blog. She took the two above for me. You can see how well the compressioning had reduced the fluid. content of the right leg! She then put on the black leg support on the left leg. This will need changing every so often and washing.
Watching the Angel fit it, was such a complicated procedure. I don’t think the Carers will not be able to do it without much further instruction. Before doing this, she took a snap of the leg with (above left). With newankle ulcers forming. The black compression sock did not show up in this photo. I thanked her most-muchly; she said she, or someone would be back next Tuesday to check things out and make any changes needed. ♥
On my fourth visit to the , or rather, after my fourth visit, I realised that the olive oil dropper bottle was nearly empty. So I meandered wobblingly into the kitchenette, and started searching (I never found it) for the mini cone out. (Found some on eBay and ordered them, free delivery from China?) played dead for a few seconds… this time she got me – Crunched down on the hard floor, but the helped soften the blow. And there was no damage caused to anything, other than my knee. Hehe!
Discombobulated, I closed the computer and got a very much-belated, but needed 4-hour-leg-up-session in the £300 second-hand shop purchased, c1966, welt-causing, uncomfortable, not-working, itch-inspirational, crumb-containing recliner. Waking up a few hours later, I decided to have my second mug of tea of the day. Utilising , and carefully taking this shot from the kitchen window, of the fast-disappearing sun. Not too bad an effort.
Got some nosh done. Potato Cakes, the last of the sweet Jenny-donated tomatoes, and some pickled beetroots. Which were unfortunately rock hard! I tried two and had to dish them; the rotting teeth couldn’t cope with them. Hobbled into the kitchen to get the washing up done. Checked that the taps (Faucets) were turned off, and no hobs, slow cooker or oven had been left on. I returned to the recliner, looked at the Freeview schedule, and found that I could now watch two episodes of ‘Heartbeat’ and ‘Cracker’ on the same channel straight after each other. An entertainment feast for me! Huh! I don’t know how I do it… I drifted off at the first set of adverts, and woke 4-hours later when the credits were scrolling at the end of the second ‘Cracker’ episode! Someone asked me last week, “Do you watch a lot of television now you’ve got the time?”
A horrible day of ups & downs. Although the ups were enjoyed. I was doomed to have more downs. Along with my having to put the right leg up every four hours. And now suffer increased pain when I return to my feet after each rest session. I’m hoping the District nurse will return today. The compression bandage has slipped down, returning to the constant, almost stabbing-like
pains whenever the flipping fluid flows out.
Which this morning, is getting oftener.
On two leg-up occurrences, up to now, I’ve
nodded off and lost even more time for to blog
and photographicalisationings.
Still, there are plenty of folk worse off than I.
Eerie morning view of the kitchen from the doorway.
Yet another not-so-good picture taken from the kitchenette window. Lots of lights on for 04:40hrs?
Made up a waste bag. (Exciting this innit? Hehe!)
Then, within about an hour, I had to utilise the wet room and , no less than 3-times! All were under the control of . But were different in about everything. Texture, pong etc… . Then… Then… A good variety today?
Toes & legs improvement… well at least I got the one remaining slipper on. Then changed my mind when I smelt the ping of urine floating up into my nostrils. So I dished both slippers, along with the three bags of waste, down the chute.
By the time that arrived, I’d been on the computer for about an hour and had just suffered…
Blogged away after he’d gone, for about half an hour… .
returned, and I utilised the , and took his Health Checks. Looking fine fettle, the lad is!
Then a major unanticipated kip of the day! I had to give the leg a rest up on the chair. So, I got into the c1966, £300 charity shop bought, second-hand, wincingly grotty, beige coloured, not working, crumb-covered from the nocturnal nibblings, itch-making, uncomfortable, virus-breeding, easy-to-fall-out-of, recliner, to get some respite from the leg wounds. I had a look at the Freeview schedule and expected that an episode of ‘Pie in the Sky’ was on for an hour. Well, I thought, that’ll do me, nicely for one of the four hours of leg-up time. Zzz! Nodded off at the first set of adverts, and woke up about five hours later!
Stirred, caught my balance and onto my feet, emptied the . Then I added some Christmas giveaway drinkies, and some AA batteries to the Asda order for next week.
I got some of the cheapo Asda Essential chips from the freezer, and I got them into the oven. Finished on the computer, I’d not even started this blog until the morning. They looked nice when I got them in the dish and served up. They were the most disgusting, flavourless chips I’ve had in my life. And believe me, I must have had many thousands of them over the years. Urgh! The soy pads were the same… the tomatoes were fine as were the garden peas… as for the strawberry dessert, which got knocked on the floor, and I crushed it with as I got up to retrieve it, and the jam squirted out, over my slipper and the carpet. Not the most successful mealtime I’ve had!
But worse was to follow! I was about to wash the pots and had to visit the wet room, for yet another visit. Amazing! Just wind emitted? With the state of my innards and bladder, amazing is not the right word, is it?
As I took this photo of my feet and legs, I got a whiff of urine strongly? On investigation, I realised that the open-close valve on the day bag was indeed in the open position again! The left foot squelched as I took a step! The last of the slippers was laid to rest (disinfected, wrapped up well, and thrown in the waste bag) amidst a silent chant from me, filled with F-words and various others of a derogatory & cursing nature. I think I may have spat in the WC as well… if I didn’t, I should have! I did get an odd moment of satisfaction as I lobbed it down the waste chute, and with a short funeral soliloquy… of five words. I then returned hobblingly, due to pain from to the flat… back to clean up the mess in the wet room, and then spat in the WC! What can go wrong next, I asked myself… I’ll tell you! With all the hobbling I’d done, was now bleeding. So, I cleaned that up, got the cream on him, and had to change the PPs. Got the old ones off without any bother. With the assistance of , I got the fresh ones on with almost ease. Great! for a second… You can laugh at this series of s. I know I did. What fun they were, they had me in tucks! Especially the last one, coming up now… gave way instantly the moment I put my leg down. Naturally, the leg crumpled and being as I’d got at that time, , and with no stick, stick within grabbing range all day! It was hilarious! As the valve flipped open when the fragile hit the deck, with all the mass weight of my cumbersomely heavy body weight and the currently bloated, by compression bandages landed on top of the pouch. Hahaha! Cleaning things up was a pleasure, which I carried out while singing to myself, smiling and then whistling. It took me 40 minutes to do. Then a dreadful, scary, shocking, blood-curdling thought entered my head… Had I left the taps (faucets) running in the kitchen when starting to do the pots, before having to abandon things to use the , and got distracted by all the , and farcicalness, from when I was washing up the pots?
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – Back to the humdrum misery! – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – BACK TO NEAR NORMAL Which is not necessarily a good thing. In fact, the loss of the Flu Vaccine’s unique side-effect of removing my guilt and self-hatred, thus giving me an air of “Sod-it!” to all my physical and mental problems, granted me the best, most peaceful 22hrs of the year to date! The pestering-browbeating, doubts, fretting, frustrations, apprehensive, distracted, distraught, nervous, on edge, stressed, self-despising, muddled brain, constant forebodings and depression have all returned! Sadly! Tsk!
Today was not a good one… but no disasters as such. Not a single visit to the .
Managed a new record, I think…
Ah, a betterer colour this morning!
Another not-so-good photo of the morning view.
I had not seen her for ages; nice gal.
I got on with blogging for a few hours. All the regular anticipated mistakes and errors were committed. More than usual, really, with… So often.
arrived for the PM call. She did a kitchen and bathroom check on the taps & stove and took the waste bag to the chute for me.
I took two piccies of the afternoon clouds later. One to the left… ‘Tother to the right!
No seepage from .
Then, when I took my four hours with the leg up on the chair, I turned on the TV to see if anything worth watching was being broadcast… that’s when I drifted off. Five hours later, I woke up with a nervous twitch and tic. I lay there all distorted on the c1966, £300 Oxfam charity shop bought, second-hand, wincingly grotty, beige coloured, crumb-covered from my nocturnal nibblings, itch-making, uncomfortable, positively unhealthy & dangerous, no longer operational, virus-breeding, easy-to-fall-out-of, Catheter-tube-trapping, recliner… I recall knocking the remote control thingy off the recliner’s arm, thinking about retrieving it, and… Zzz! Another three hours of heavenly, if broken by mini-wake-ups, sleep was enjoyed.
I think it was who called to wake me.
I was not exactly with it, but I got the potatoes from the slow cooker and mashed them with some not-butter butter, sea salt and a dash of Pryprawa seasoning.I put them in the oven to keep warm and added some no-meat sausages in a saucepan with more Pryprawa seasoning. Tomatoes, pickled beetroot, and some chunky pickles as well.
Took this shot while waiting for the cooking of the meal.
caused the hand to wobble, so I had more salt than planned. Hehe! A taste rating of 8.2/10 was given.
I stayed awake long enough to get the pots cleaned, do a safety check, and then back into the recliner.
Now I plan to sleep. Which initially went well, straight off into dreamland almost instantly. With the absence of last night, it annoyed me when he kicked off non-stop all night. I got fed up with waking up!
Due to , I’d stored photos on the wrong day in the file. So some may be from earlier, as I got myself in a muddle trying to sort them. Sorry again. if so!
06:14hrs: was leaking rather painfully as I stirred back into my mock-imitation, forlorn pitiful life. She was stinging much more this morning as well. As I removed the night bag from the catheter, other ailments joined in. With what seemed a concerted effort. A lets attack Inchy with as much pain as we can today. They were successful! , , and a rare visit from . The pain behind the left eye kicked off… EQ kept telling me, “I warned You!” I knew things were not going to go well at all today – and boy was I right! Had I known what was going to happen, I’d have hibernated there in the £300 second-hand shop purchased, c1966, welt-causing, uncomfortable, not-working, welt-creating, itch-making crumb-containing recliner.
I got to the wet room and utilised the first job. Aha, had not lost control completely, but I’d say was fighting back! The shaving went bloodlessly. ! The showering did not! The patch I’d put on was loosening its grip a bit. , and flowing freely was . giving me gip each time I had to bend or stretch. But the Germolene and Germoloids I’d managed to buy, did a fine job in stopping the bleeding for me. Emptying the bowl that I’d washed my feet in while shaving, I got a little, but enough, of the shakes and twitches from , to ensure that I dropped the bowl of dirt water. Innit amazing how far water can spread? Come think of it, she had support from my to inform the befuddled brain of my physical needs. The urine was a good-looking colour today. It kept changing several times later on from this practically near perfect to a deep orangey-red? Little was jealous of the other ailments’ success I think, and the pangs and pains started coming from him, and are still with me tomorrow. I thought today was bad… but having already lived tomorrow, they are not so bad! I made another Heath Robinson affair and put it on Not the foggiest idea what I might have done wrong, but boy did the pain increase! Yes, it did! seemed the ‘Ailment in Command’ at this stage. Even worse than the , this was a first!
arrived. Medications sorted, and the eye drops. I did ask the lad if he could put some of the Phorpain gel on , but somehow we both forgot about it. No blame attached, other than to me. I’m the one in pain, and I forgot to remind him. We’ll settle I think for blaming
Arrived, for financial & advising. Well, she was overwhelmed I think, all the problems I needed help with. ① Covid-jab appointment making. ② Flu-Jab appointment making. ③ She called the district nurse to get some advice for me on the bleeding. Told me they will report this to the nurses. ④ She tried to arrange a lift for the Audio Clinic appointment that she had made for me, but it doesn’t look too good – no free spots. The chap told Kara, that if any do come free, I’ll be first on the list to get a lift. He would ring back to let me know if that happens. ⑤ Kara did the eye drops and medicationing. ⑥ Checked on the Catheter bag for me. ⑦ When I went to find the Olive Oil applicator for the ears. She even found time to come and pick me up after I took a Dizzy-Tumble. Bless her! ⑧ There was something else she did, but I can’t recall it now.
I thanked her again, and off she had to go, always sad!
I’d be Lost Without Her Weekly Call to Help me!
I went out onto the balcony for a look around, hoping maybe to find some trees or clouds that I might do some with. But the clouds were very minimal and high and with my eyesight, they were not seeable enough really. But the close-up stuff was. Taking a shot of the end car park, I saw that the mudslide was receding at a good rate. No rain last night? I opened the door and took a close-up of the car park area. The mudslide had a sort of glow to it? After I on the raised ledge when getting back inside. I smiled, passed wind, and laughed it laughing it off, of course...
Potatoes on the boil. Then I searched for my new bottle of olive oil… Couldn’t find it, despite finding it hours later smack in the middle of the Carer’s table. Tsk! Made the second permitted mug of tea. Glengettie of course. I used the Jersey Full Milk this time. Lovely! But naughty, Sister Jane says! The Carer arrived, and UI left the mug of tea to go cold, forgetting all about it. The mug was well stained when I discovered it. Testimony to the flavour of the brew! The Community Nurse arrived, to look at the state of . She took a photograph of the lesion where the fluid was seeping from. Then set about drying it and wrapping the leg from just below the knee, down and around the foot! It felt better afterwards, but of course, I was being distracted by the presence of a young lady, manhandling me. Hahaha! She told me I must keep the leg raised at all times when not moving about. I had to insist she chose a dinkie and or nibbles from the display. She obliged me, bless her; after I’d told her if she didn’t pick one, I’d be sulking all day. Which brought forth the first laugh of the day. Hehehe!. She said someone would come out on Monday to change the bandages and check on things. Amazingly I remembered Carer Kara telling me she made the appointments for the Audio Clinic and Covid jabs for Monday & Wednesday, as she thought I might be tired after the trek to the clinic and it would give me a day to recover. Now that was kind! ♥ I mentioned this to the nurse, who said they would come on Tuesday instead.
Three hours or about, later, I checked on the leg when the Carer came. He took this photo. Looks like the fluid and a smidgeon of blood had started to flow.
Then it dawned on me – I would not be able to take a shower! It’ll have to be doing the washing stood at the sink. Which, will mean difficulties in getting access to certain areas that the shower spray usually takes care of. And on Tuesday, if they rebandage it again, an even longer period without a shower? Will I begin to reek? Haha! There is not a lot of escapage at the moment, so the chances are that they may leave it to get some air… or not. Mind you come think of it, it’ll be five days before they call… Ah, well!
The blogging will have to be cut short: if done at all. It seems essential that I get my leg up! There is no answer to that! Har-Har! I’ll try to get a cartoon made, and an ode daily. If time or I’m up to it. Sorry folks. Evening photo of the oddly light night.
There are also three medical appointments to sort out and fit in next week? I’m not feeling too good about the coming week. EQ agrees with me.
Great meal, though. The Flavour-Rating given was a deserved 8.5/10. Would have been higher if I had not undercooked the potatoes. Tsk!
Fingers Crossed – I can’t cross the legs or fingers voluntarily anyway. The worst of the ailments at present is the pain coming from the s Papules; a close second is the , which for some reason dosen’t like putting my legs up.
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – Today, I almost relaxed; It went less rancorously! I still hate HMG for living costs & acting recessionary… It’s down to them, and the power of the Oligarchy! Thought Storms were there, But somehow, I coped uncaringly… Not that the day went happily or cheerfully… , was a bully, Concentrationless, confusionableness; barmy! There was sparse logic or congruency! Decisions, and actions, were taken bathetically, Indeed, the whole day went chimerically,
Hence I wrote this piece of cacography!
The day was full of anfractuosity…
I didn’t get much worthwhile done, you see…
Spent most of the time self-admonishingly!
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
Mmm… a little dark this morning?
Sorted the waste bins into one bag, and put it near the door.
Looking good?
Mist clearing sooner today.
Made a brew of Glengettie, and dunked a few (3) of my newly discovered favourites biscuits. Tasted buttery, with an iota of salt taste. No bother to the bad teeth!
Aha, at last, some relief from pain, from !
Worked conscientiously on getting the Wednesday blog done. But with so many interruptions, and me forgetting I’d not done it, it was well late by the time it was posted.
A couple of snaps were taken. Both through the glass in the balcony. The top one didn’t come out well. Tsk! The bottom field shot was an improvement.
Started cooking the meat for the stewpot.
Potatoes in the slow cooker.
Then did a search of the web, to see where I may be able to get some of the Samaritan Olive Oil, for the ears. I’ve only got a day or two worth left to use. Spent yonks on searching and failing. The only one available was from Amazon, and I’ve finished with them, because their last three deliveries were left by the driver down in the main lobby, and I didn’t even know they’d been delivered! Other stuff left as well. I’m not up to going all that way down repeatedly in hopes that they will be there. I used to check on the internet tracker, but of course, often this was not possible; Due to failing… I found one other company that delivered it. Made an account with them (that took me an hour). Filled in the contact details, and as I was about to put the bank details in, I saw an icon: ‘Click here to ensure we can deliver to your area’; so I did – and they couldn’t. Shit! What a waste of time! I’ll ask if any carer is on Amazon and I can pay then and ask if they can order some for me. I’ve asked Chris, Benjamin and Marie for now, but all a no-go. Someone must be on Amazon who can help me? Never mind, I’ll investigate if I can use cooking olive oil on the web tomorrow. I can search the supermarkets for olive oil sprays as well.
More searching on the web, and I spotted that Morrisons claim to sell it. This brought forth great joy, and I got on their site to order some Samaritan Olive Oil. I nearly broke into a smile! My favourites came up, and knowing that a minimum order of £40 was needed, I ordered other stuff to make the required total. When I put in ‘Samaritan Olive Oil’ it indicated that this is not recognised or in stock! Another hour-plus lost without any luck! Made worse by… you can probably guess what’s coming… Yet still, it didn’t get to me like it usually would have? Worrying this is. Also, I had a few visits from , and the days mock, unexplainable accepting of things, no came to an end. I poddled to the wet room to have a shave and en route, had an ; it didn’t have me over but caused my right shoulder to wallop into the door frame. And all was forgotten about the minutes-earlier farces, and all felt, was how lucky I was not to have gone down on the floor! Even when burst into life! I’d drifted back into my earlier mode of ‘Hey Hoeidness!’ Of course, how long this will last, depends on the aggressiveness of my ailments, getting the flu jab done, and finding a way to get some ‘Samaritan Olive Oil’ for the ears. Also, depending on the mysteries of Woodthorpe Court, with the hobgoblins, spectres, gnomai, phantasms, grotesque succubae, Whoopsiedangleplops, ailments, extraterrestrials, ectoplasm, spirits, accifauxpas, rent increases, food price hikes, and the Fata Morganas, that have been sent to taunt, irritate and terminate my already limited, currently contented but pointless, insaneness of mind?
The evening looked very nice.
Good heavens. look at the time!
Oh, the food! Crikey I’ve left it on the hob cooking! Turned off the computer, not even having made a start on this template yet… All save! Phew! By gum that was nice! Flavour-Rating: 902/10. Worth all the time and effort to make, for once!. As I started to eat it, the Carer Arrived!
Finished the nosh and went to clean the pots & dishes. Beautiful night sky again! Straight ahead from the kitchen window… Then to the left a bit… Does anyone remember the ‘Golden Shot’ quiz on the telly? Bob Monkhouse compared it… Left a bit… Up a bit… A smidge right… Shoot! A great show, I thought. Produced by ATV for ITV between 1 July 1967 and 13 April 1975, based on the German TV show Der Goldene Schuß. The hostesses distracted from the games sometimes, but… Hehehe!

Before getting the night pouch off the catheter, I’d taken two naughty, but effective strong Nurofen tablets. I keep some near the £300 second-hand shop bought, c1966. moth-eaten, bedraggled, cringingly-beige-coloured, grotty, dilapidated, crumb-containing from my nocturnal nibblings, bug-ridden, itch-inspiring, not working recliner, on the Ottoman, within reach. By the time I’d got the pouch off and made a brew, the pain had eased a lot from the right eye… not the left though. I didn’t take any more naughty painkillers, cause the Carer will be here to give me some Paracetamol & Codeine. Don’t want to overdo things. I’m not saying KI wasn’t tempted to, though.
A highlight of pleasantness arrived in the form of Nurse Hristina from the DVT Anticoagulation Clinic to take some blood for INR analysis. The poor thing sounded like she had a sore throat. Bless her cotton socks. Such a lovely kind lady.
Carer Chris arrived. Eyes and medications issued. Started the blogging update, and it happened yet again, even as early as this. Carer Victor did the midday and early evening calls. The weariness and tiredness dawned, and I went off on the Ode word-finding mission that took me hours and hours. KI just couldn’t stop; the brain seemed to be blinkered?
A bad start got worserer. And yet, when I semi-recovered my grasp on things, I was so cheerful about it.
No time or instinct for taking photos, although I did take a few. Carer Victor took some of the evening sky for me. But through the balcony windows
The night pouch is nice & fullish, a good colour.
Sorted the waste bags into one.
The scratches on the wall, came from when I fell over getting the bags in position and the walking stick hit the paintwork..
Sported out some bladder-filling bottles.
A mug of Glengettie went down well.
Evening Carer Victor arrived, and eye drops and medications were done. He took these snaps through the balcony glass.
I finished the blog and sent it off.
Made up several templates, which was time-consuming, but I was pleased I got them done. A long job and I made many mistakes in doing it. No doubt I’ll find more when I use them.
Turning of now, so weary, and the flaming eye seems to get worse as the night approaches.
Back in the morning, all being well, like. Haha!
Roving ReporterInchy (well, moving occasionally around the flat anyway), is back with this catch-up report.
Carer Victor arrived, waking me from a period of sleep, that was free of interference from . A precious rarity that, of course, they returned the instant I nodded off after getting down in the after Victor had departed.
Medications were issued, the night pouch readied, eye drops put in, and he helped me get the chips out of the oven and onto the plate for consumption. (Is that the right word?)
The chips were burnt to my favourite crispiness; well, with my shortage of teeth, they can be sucked at. Haha!Yellow tomatoes, and soy balls. Flavour-Rating: 8.2/10!
Down on the c1968, non-operational, tatty, scruffy, unkempt, uncomfortable, germ-breeding, Harold Haemorrhoid-Testing, sickenly beige-coloured, crumb covered recliner, in search of sleep. But, it was not to be! Made sure of that! I was getting s smidge wee’d off with this and got up to wash the food things.
Glad that I did now; the evening sky had a great hue to it. I fetched Kodak Keith and tried my best to get a decent shot of the view on offer. was bothersome. She had been all day really come to think of it, and when I was getting settled at the window, kicked off, too.
My first photographicalisationing shot came out wobbly-shaky, to say the least. But it was different if nowt else… A never-been-known for months, determination rose from within my demented afflicted brain. I was not going to give up this time! My resolve cost me a lot of time. Getting gently wedged on the window locking block, I tried again to take a better picture… but no, it came out terrible again. So, putting some paper towels behind the block, to help keep the botherations from and to a minimum, I tried again… Aha, that one came out betterer. For me, anyway.
Back in the aged, grotty-looking c1966 made, charity-shop-bought, horribly beige-coloured, £300, Harold-Haemorrhoid-testing, non-operational, acne-giving, virus-breeding, rickety, easy-to-fall-out-of recliner. To my utter pleasure and delight, there was no interference from . I had a few mini-dreams; they were each doom-ladened, depressing, confusing themes.
So many ailments attacking today. The most annoying and bothersome one was without a doubt; . For constant sheer pain, and causing me balance loss. The above-average ones were , and . With support from & a particularly persistent kept failing.
An awful lot of jobs that I could not handle were being left undone. How I’ll ever catch up is beyond me.
The Domestic did not turn up for her hour of cleaning; she’s catching up with her due holidays she told me two weeks ago, so no blame there. The flat is getting untidy now, and beginning to look uncared for. A messy carer’s desk with bits of tablet packaging residue on the carpet. But it’s too dodgy for me to start bending and cleaning in the state I’m in. Sarah the City-Care OT, sent me an email, telling me not to bend down, amongst other advice:
Mission impossible for some of the suggestions. How can the carers find time or staff to help me clear the room? They can’t supply the domestic now. They’ve had to cut down the hour, to half an hour, of financial assistance. It is the holiday period now; the poor devils are struggling. Staff are taking their breaks when they can, before the time runs out, can’t be helped mind you. I know how difficult it is, being in the same position when I was Security Controller at Sawley Security, a nightmare! Mission Impossible for them as well, re this guidance. Everything is getting behind schedule, and my already dilapidated memory is suffering; I’m trying to catch up, and things get further behind. Now, the eyes & hearing have joined forces & stopped me from doing things. Hey-Ho!
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – I’d spent nine hours updating this blog. Too many brown-outs from you know who… This time, I lost all the stuff I’d done today!. So I’ve lost heart here are some bits, mostly photos!
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – Woke in the usual jerking fashion. I am concerned about getting things done in time and in the correct order for the trip to the EENT hospital and, if possible, getting the Wednesday blog finished and posted to give me a chance to make a start on today’s blog, tonight. That doesn’t read right, does it? Grabbed the Kodak and took some shots of the legs & feet. I think I took this one by mistake… A close-up of the feet showed they were still of a different colouration to each other. The ankle ulcer looks like it just might be coming back again. Nothing new there! Removed the night pouch from the day bag. 03:25hrs: I was up and ready to take on the world… well, I felt okay compared to the last two mornings. The thought of getting out into the world from this flat possibly encouraged me, although I am still concerned about whether or not they will do the Cataract procedure. Odds at 50/50 methinks, if the Blepharitis has not cleared up. Please be cleared up! Off to the wet room to get the ablutioning done. This took me an hour and a half. The shaving did not go well. Cuts and a terribly bad job done, too. Humph!
All done, although not successfully, I decided to take some photos from the hallway when I got out of the wet room. Outside the wet room. Hallway end rubbish and the three-wheeled-walker. That’ll need sorting with the things I need to take with me. To my right, the kitchenette. Ott he waste bag sorted and put near the front door.
Carer Richard arrived. He’s nearly done; just a few more calls to make. He looked weary to me.
Did some blogging with Went down six times in half an hour.
Readied the three-wheeler, and got dressed, then had a quick rinse in the wet room. Emptied the catheter pouch before leaving the flat. Don’t want to get caught out! – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – Awaited the Link lift in the foyer. The day’s events… Set off to wait for the minibus. We arrived eventually, as we were taking a scenic route so the driver could pick up another passenger en route on Derby Road from a care home. No photos cause I was belted in and could not get at Kodak Kevin in the trolley.
Only managed to get one photo inside the EENT. It was a busy visit this time. I started by going to the wrong reception to sign in… Someone saw me looking lost, and I showed her the paperwork, which did not mention the ‘D’ floor. I should have gone up to the ‘D’ floor, so I went up to the ‘D’ floor.
The lady took me into a waiting area, where I waited. A small room with a TV on, only one free seat, where I sat, and my three-wheeled Trolley blocked the other patient’s view of the TV. I got the crossword book out. Later, I was collected and taken through another waiting area into a room to have the eye tested for Blepharitis and signed a form consenting to the operation. Then, back to the small waiting area, where the patients were all watching the TV – but had to sit on the same seat as before and block their view again. I mentioned en route, that my catheter bag was getting full.
Next, another nurse collected me, taking me into the big waiting area. The lady reviewed the details and asked many questions about my health and living habits? No idea why, but I told her the truth. She made up two different wristbands and put them on me… She noticed the Warfarin tab, then went through all the others I’d got on We then went through each one. She decided that because I didn’t know the last blood test INR level, she took me to the DVT Anticoagulation place, insisting she take me in a trolley seat. Leaving Three-Wheeled_Walker Walter at the mercy of the honesty of the others still waiting. I mentioned en route that my catheter bag was getting full. The DVT Anticoagulation took the test, and it returned much lower than it has been lately. Which was good!
I was pushed back to the large waiting area and got the crossword book from the trolley, but not for long. Another nurse arrived, a lovely lady, took me into another small room and questioned me about who diagnosed the Cognitive Impairment. I told her about Highbury Hospital, Adult Mental Care, and how they changed their mind to CI from Dementia. She showed interest in this, and another nurse was summoned and asked me more questions. Where do you live? Why are you not walking soundly? Told them of the Peripheral Neuropathy. They wondered where this was confirmed and what tests were done. I told them, by the neurologists at the Mary Potter Center.
The first nurse returned and went back to the other large waiting area. Where what was going to happen was explained to me. Then, the anaesthetist joined us in the waiting area. They told me that because the left eye had nuclear & cortical cataracts, they would inject different local anaesthetics in both regions. Oh. Good!
Back to the small waiting area. Still only the one seat available for me to use, the TV blocker! I think I heard the groans when they saw me coming back in! Hehehe! But not for long; I was walked into the operating area five minutes later.
Inserting the local anaesthetics was much more painful than when I had the other eye done. But I had been warned. The procedure made me jump a smidgeon on a couple in quick succession, and I was rightly reprimanded and told not to move. It took a lot longer than the right eye.
A lady escorted me back to the larger waiting area, where I was given a biscuit and mug of tea. I couldn’t drink the weak, warm, tasteless tea, but thankfully, I dunked the two biscuits in it. Hehe!
There was no chance of seeing the crossword clues, so I sat and analysed those around me. There were around 12 other after-procedure patients, many with carers and family with them.
The time was getting close to the arranged pick-up from Easy-Link. So I got up and tried to work out the way back to the lifts, and a nurse asked me… “Whatever are you doing?” I’m off. I said! “You’ve not been released yet!” I apologised. She got me the needed paperwork, eye drops and instruction notes. While doing this, I suffered a rather perky but short-lived , which drew a lot of attention to me. Nurses came out of the woodwork to see if I was alright and were amazed when I told them I get these almost daily; they can have me over, give me a tumble, but this one was nae bother; I’d the reception desk to cling onto. The nurse rattled out instructions to me about tending to the eye. At least I think that was what she was saying. She then escorted me to the lift and the main doors. Bless her cotton socks!
Arrived as I was leaving the building. Spot-on! Following are the photographs I took through the windows of the minibus. Where memories were prompted, I’ve revealed them. Haha! Leaving the hospital to Lenton Lane.
Towards Derby Road.
Side street off Derby Road.
Another side street off Derby Road.
Derby Road nearing Canning Circus. I spotted that the old TA HQ was abandoned, vandalised, and very sad. Not that my memories of that building are anything worthwhile; I only visited it twice. But it brought back the days of my youth and my signing on… the best thing in my life up to then! Great fun and well-paid!
Huntingdon Street into the city.
Above & below… The oh, so changed Shakespeare Street. The long-gone fire station and another abandoned building.
Left onto Mansfield Road.
A little further up…
Last Mansfield Road shot as we turned right into Woodborough Road. I recalled the old days with the trolleybuses. Even the blue-coloured Notts & Derby trolleybuses ran this route.
Huntingdon Street.
Mapperley Tops.
As the rain came, the chap dropped me back at the flats.
I got swiftly out of the rain and into the foyer.
Taking this selfie in the lift on the way up. With taking this in the reflection of the shiny wall, I thought at first they’d done the wrong eye for me. Hehehe!
I got inside, put the trolley in the corner, and emptied urine pouch. I was sorting out what Carer Kara needed for the medical changes – the eye drops starting again, the hospital’s instruction, and a copy to go to the doctor. Put the drops on the Carers table along with notes. As I went to get the drops from the three-wheeler, Carer Marie came in the door. I explained about the eye drops starting over again. Then she issued the medications for me. Nice gal.
I got on with updating this blog. Up to now, the smoke & mirrors number-benders, known as… and… have only been down for…
I got this far and then got a nosh prepared… For hungry I am!I took the photo with the SD card left in the computer reader slot. It looked fantastic on the Kodak screen. Carer Marie read the instructions on the ready meals, both three minutes, in the microwave, so that made it easier. But they came out well undercooked. Horrible! Taste Rating: 1/10! Made up for this with some bags of cheesy curls, a banana and an iced lolly.
Soon settled in the c1966, £300 charity shop bought, second-hand, wincingly grotty, beige coloured, not working, crumb-covered from the nocturnal nibblings, itch-making, uncomfortable, virus-breeding, easy-to-fall-out-of, recliner, and sleep came easily – No nocturnal Thought Storms!
Each time I shot awake, the eye was more painful. Humphs!
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – THANK YOU I’d spent the best part of the night working away trying to catch up with yesterday’s WordPress blog. Eventually, I got it finished this morning around 07:30hrs.Then made last night’s meal, Hehe! I may have nodded off while eating it a few times. I later found some potato cubes in the dressing gown pocket, in my belly folds, and on the £300 second-hand shop purchased, c1966, welt-causing, uncomfortable, not-working, itch-inspirational, crumb-containing recliner cushion. I put the tray on the Carers table; I recall getting one of them ; the next thing, I was waking, having a renewal of consciousness, rejuvenescence, from my preciously short kip of about an hour – in the usual fashion. shuddering, flapping, threshing about and blurry-eyed.
Kitchen morning view on rising. Newly spotted legs. Mullti-coloured feet and toes? and Swelling up again.
First of the two brews allowed… Nice!
. Went to turn the computer on, and found that I’d not turned it off! However, for the first time in months, the internet was working frost time! But not for long, about eight minutes… Got the Tuesday blog finalised and sent off.
Carer Shaquille arrived. He changed the day pouch for me. Medications were given, and a brief natter was enjoyed.
Started this blog off. But…
Window shot to the left. Then to the right.
Kara Kara Called; she was doing the two calls, financial and normal medicationings together today. She said she’d ring Virgin about a new package and getting the box sorted out. We were on the phone for an aeon… sorting out the package, and waiting for the technician to come on the line. Even I heard some of the canned music being played with the phone on hands-free. While waiting what seemed an hour, but couldn’t have been, I realised that Kara had phoned on the Virgin number, not the free 150 from Virgin lines… this call is going to cost me a fortune!Argh! Eventually, they agreed a deal. I was not fully compus-mentis of what was happening, but have faith in Kara. All sorted for me! Kara wrote it down for me. New package; £42.79, for six months, then it’s going up to £56.59. As Kara needed to go, she found a letter on the floor, and I asked her to open it, which she did. I got confirmation from Age UK that my insurance had been paid. Thanked her and off she shot. Hehe! ♥ Lost without her help.
This may have helped the incompetent, figure-rustling and manipulative Smoke & Mirrors ladies & gentlemen at , who are buying up or into so many internet companies and keeping this quiet, to be actually working! I wonder what their cunning plan is with all the invested-in and bought-out internet companies they have got in with? Liberty acquired German company Unity-Media in November 2009 for $5.2 billion. 2010 Liberty sold its stake in Jupiter Telecommunications, a Japanese telecommunications services provider. In January 2013, Liberty Global raised its stake in Belgium-based Telenet from 50.2% to 58%. Liberty Global operates through the following subsidiaries and shareholdings: All3Media (50% ownership with Warner Bros. Discovery), ITV plc (United Kingdom) (9.9% shareholding) Platforma Canal+ (Poland) (17% ownership), Sunrise UPC (Switzerland) (100% ownership), Telenet (Belgium) (58% ownership). UPC Broadband, UPC Slovakia, Virgin Media Ireland Limited, Virgin Media Television, Virgin Mobile. Virgin Media O2 (70% ownership), O2 UK, GiffGaff 65% ownership, Tesco Mobile (50% ownership). Virgin Media Limited (UK), Virgin Media Business Limited, Virgin Mobile (UK), Vodafone (8.9% owned), VodafoneZiggo (50% ownership), Vodafone Netherlands, Ziggo, Ziggo Sport, Ziggo Sport Totaal, and Telefónica. Mike Fries is the Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairperson of Liberty Global. He took home $62m in FY2, plus a guaranteed percentage of shares. Just how can the lad be expected to run an internet service that works, on such a paltry wage? Surely, his number-crunching, figure-shuffling, securities broker-expert is worth more?I feel so sorry for him. Jealousy may be involved here! Hahaha! I like him, & his good looking, Mafiosa face.
Went off on a tangent there, didn’t I? Sorry!
No Domestic lady called again, (holiday catch-up for the gal) and I was not up to cleaning with all the worry over the cataract and glaucoma procedure, and getting things ready for it.
Aha, I felt a movement from within there. Time to visit the for another go… Cor!
Got on with computing. I was getting hungry after she’d gone. Got the Tuesday blog finished & sent sent off to WordPress. Did some work on this blog, then got some nosh going. Bit of a bigger nosh tonight. Sliced potatoes roasted, garden peas, a soy burger, fancy strawberry-filled pastry (Not that there was much filling in it, mostly pastry, disappointed in this one), and a banana to finish off with. Taste Rating: 6.8/10.
Carer Benjamin arrived after I’d eaten the feast and just fell asleep. He was on his last call and looked a little weary.
No tablets or medicine were needed. He attached the night pouch to the . Insisted he took a can of his choice on his way out with him.
Nodded off again, and the landline flashed! It was the doctor’s surgery with the new Warfarin doses after the blood test. The INR level had gone up a little. I changed the doses on the Carers book to the new doses. Zzz!

There was nothing bleeding or bothersome when I woke up in the £300, second-hand shop bought nine years ago, c1966, discomfiting, alarmingly beige-coloured, crumb-containing, TV remote hiding, not working recliner. It’s true! But being the warranted pessimist I am, I crossed my fingers!
It was later than usual as well. And I cannot recall waking up with the usual jumps, jolting, jarring, buffeting, or twitching very often, only a handful of times. The miracle was not having any interference from ! I do declare I think I just may have smiled to myself… Yes! And, smugly, too! Of course, my experiences in life, are not good enough for me to accept or to so with pessimism, that this situation… this one every 25 years happening; euphoria-moment, can last. I have a personal conviction that the bad luck I was born with and into, has been with me for so long, and will be so until the end. I’ve still got most of left! No false hopes for me! Anticipate the worst, and accept with penitence, disillusionment, and maintain my belief in necessitarianism. I can’t help but involve myself in self-philosophising, and fatalism, yet try to do it with resignation and stoicism. Thus, I’ve managed for many years now to handle defeats, failures and guilt. I’m well-practised in being defeated, beaten, ignored, failings, mentally and physically, and sinking into momentary depths of depression; by convincing myself I don’t deserve any better. I think my teen years activities, are now being repaid. Fair enough! Yet I love to help others when I can. Later Life became difficult and lonely. Cecutiency, deafness, and all the ailments have gathered together to affect my body and mind.
I almost feel guilty, and wonder if some of them should have been given to someone else. Too late now. Hehehe! Crikey, I waffled on there… Sorry about that.
I thought I’d try to tidy up the Carers desk, in the hope that I could think of a system for doing the eye drops so as not to miss any of them. ! As I bent down to Hoover the carpet underneath the table, I , not that it bothered me, of course. I scoffed at it, grinned and then a belated time-warped pain arrived from the . Swear? Curse? Spit? Me? Well… yes I did a bit, actually.
I sorted the four waste bins out into one black one. And hobbled with it to the front door. I knew the start today was too good!
I bent down to straighten the bag, and my mind engaged, and I realised I’d not cleaned up around the Carers table yet. That (2 things) were enough for me, to jump in and get me to lose my balance, assisted by . Great! Now I’ve broken the new two-week-old varifocal spectacles, as I caught my forehead on the corner of the wall! . But all these things are down to either the Mysteries of Woodthorpe Court, with the hobgoblins, spectres, gnomai, phantasms, ghosts, the grotesque succubae, extraterrestrials, ectoplasms, spirits, or the Fata Morganas, that have been sent to taunt, irritate and terminate my already limited saneness of mind, or my born with and have onto ever since, Bloody Bad Luck! I suppose that has to take his share of the blame as well.
Well pissed off, and I went to get a bottle of water from the kitchen fridge. Lovely shade to the misty view this morning.
So I got and took this snapshot. Made a mug of Glengettie and got the computer on. Carer Candis arrived, so the tea was allowed to get cold again. I have done that regularly recently. Nice to see her again. An email from Iceland was checked. Some non-instock items. One milk loaf and one vegan slice, which means I lose out on both 3 for £5 offers. Oddly, they could manage to find two others of the same products, which I had to pay full price for. Hey-Ho! At last, got back on the blogging. Sorting the SD card photographs out, and I started involuntarily crying in both eyes! I wonder if the dry-eye spray should have been stopped taking? I’ll have to try and find out about this. I got an email with a link in it for the Iceland Delivery. I clicked on it, one stop away, but some distance away. So, I had time to respond to my second call to the . Trotsky was in charge again. And the colouring and odd flat shape as the content escaped from my innards with ease and haste. Still no Germoloid cream arrived. The Sudocrem is of no use at all. No pain relief at all. It just stains the protection pants a greeny-yellow colour. Aha! The Iceland order cometh. The kind driver carried the bags through to the kitchen for me. Glad I ordered some more toilet rolls, what with the evacuations under of control of Again the shortbreads were on offer, as were the cookies, and Carers ice cold coffees The baking potatoes were expensive. The baby new potatoes were too as it happens. Look fresh, though! The meat ends ham 3 for £5 all came. One for me, One for Carer Kara & one for neighbour Josie. That’s the plan! Hehe! I’ll see if we like the ‘Free’ strawberry yoghourt later. Same distribution plans for them. The freezer was well-filled. Cram packed! I struggled to get the Wholemeal bread inside but gave up in the end. I can get Kara to pass it on to someone who will get benefit from it. Got the fridge filled as well. Just after putting away the food and bags, Carer Kara came again. She liked the meat; and took the loaf to a resident who she said would appreciate it. A good gal, Kara. My last job with the foodstuffs was to top up the Nurses’ and Carers’ nibble & drinkies shelves. Back to the computer… Unfortunately, the Oligarchs went down for the fourth time this morning… oh, it’s well into the afternoon now. Where did all the time go?
I’m going to have the small potatoes, burnt ham, and tomatoes for my meal. I may be back! Hehehe!.
I’m Back! Wednesday morning to update what little happened next.
An especially good-looking meal was prepared. Potatoes, tomatoes and end cuts of whatever it was. It looked fantastic! Put the TV on and got settled with my feet up, the food tray balancing rather dodgily on my knees, and started to tuck in! chimed out, and Carer came in. Pulled his leg a bit about his bad timing at first, but it was my own fault for not realising how late it was. Home-based guilt! He got the medications sorted and eye drops in, in a short time, and even replaced the tray on my knee as he departed. Disappointed at the meat being 70% burnt skin. That is how I used to like it… But the decaying teggies bled and I broke a bit off of bicuspid as I did my best to eat some. Ah, well, my own fault again for buying it!
Had a go on the computer, but had several more brown-outs from famously inept mob from USA Liberty-Global. The number crunchers and Smoke & Mirrors Oligarchs. This took their tally of failures today, up to seven. Sad, innit? Computer off, and I fell asleep in the c1966, £300 pound, second-hand charity-shop bought, crumb-containing, odour-retaining, Harold’s Haemorrhoid-testing, nauseatingly beige coloured, non-working, virus-breeding recliner. Carer Benjamin woke me again, and I got the eye drops, and night bag attached to the . I wished him a thank you and a good break. I think he said he’s back on Saturday. A good lad.
